Miri frowned, a puzzled look on his face as Rio basically took his words and, well, twisted wasn't the right term. "Why would your family babysit you?" He asked, "I know you're strong, I can read it in the lines of your body, how you hold yourself and how you speak." He watched as the pup all but fell on the food, growling as it tugged and chewed on it. He would have to think up a name for it soon, because he couldn't keep calling it 'pup' forever.
Hurt pulled the corners of his lips down and extinguished the excited gleam that had brightened his flame colored eyes. He mentally berated himself for getting excited about meeting someone new, someone who seemed amicable about helping him out with his passion. Things had been going so well lately that he forgot how undesirable he was to be around. How eventually people got tired of him and left him alone. He really ought to have known by then not to get his hopes up. His heart really couldn't take too many more blows to it.
A pity it was out where everyone could see it, pinned to his sleeve as it was.
"I...don't need exact words. Images are fine, I'm a decent enough artist..." He said, voice small. His gaze had dropped down to the snow at his feet, head tilted down. One hand had crept up to tangle in his coats collar, in lieu of his normal habit of gripping his braid. He was tired of letting every little hurtful word get to him, but he wasn't sure how to stop it.
He bit back a sigh, "No it's alright. I have materials on me, you don't have to waste your supply. You don't have to ask them to scout for me."

The hybrid looked shocked as she heard the Dovaa compliment her. It was obvious she wasn't weak now? Just that comment alone seemed to relax Erionda's guarded nature. She watched him for a moment, his responses, his movements, everything about the way he carried himself was foreign to her. Strange, and she wasn't sure just how to react to it. She had never been good with social situations to start with, and this one just seemed to be on a level far above her own. And yet, he didn't seem concerned about her. He hadn't asked about her life in any way, hadn't tried to figure out where she lived, nothing. It gave her comfort to think that he wouldn't try to hurt her.
She stared down at the pup and sighed. "I don't know social things." The hybrid finally admitted. "I have only had brief moments with others. And even then not many. Everyone leaves after getting what they want out of me. Or die trying to get my head." She smirked at the final comment.
At his mention of supplies Erionda shrugged as she turned to walk towards her home. "I don't care if you have supplies. This is Aisko. Everything remains frozen out here. And I don't know of any Dovaa who can last out here any longer than you are. I have the materials at my home. WE will go there for the supplies. My companions need to warm up as it is before any further research can happen. Besides, it's easier to draw inside the library."

Miri was silent for a while, "What a pair we are." He said finally and seemed disinclined to explain just what he meant. There was no way he'd open up to her now, not after everything, even with her quasi apology. Perhaps later, if they became closer, but not now. Not while he had a feeling that her story was a lot worse than his. He had no intentions of playing the 'my life story hurts more' game. Ismiril was, after all, not the sort that liked to live in drama, choosing instead to try to leave it all behind, no matter what some of the old trainers liked to mutter still.
Aisko, the land of frozen wastes. She was right, his magic could only hold out for as long as he had supplies, and with an extra mouth to feed his stores wouldn't last as long as they had. Besides, she did have a point. The Khehorans weren't aligned with ice, they would most likely be freezing if they hadn't been as active as they were, forcing their bodies to burn energy and in turn stay warm. Besides he wouldn't mind staying in place where he didn't have to constantly burn his magic to stay warm. It would give him a much needed respite to start regenerating, as well as give him a chance to perhaps eat something. It was well past time for a midday meal.
"Alright, lead the way."

Erionda gave him a quizzical look. Whatever he meant by pair, the hybrid didn't want to guess at. No pureblood wanted to be seen 'paired' with a hybrid like her. She was just a stain on the bloodlines. She wasn't even worth the time of anyone. Once he had agreed to follow her Erionda shrugged and sent the mental image back to Lanzecki and Uassae.
"Finally!" The loud deep throated roar reached Erionda from the skies. She recognized it as Lanzecki.
Wincing as she felt the pain in his wings from the bond. It was hard to tell what Uassae was feeling, he was known to Erionda as the type that would hide all his pain and worry from her. A father figure to Erionda in a way. Being an Aeduan it was easier for him to recover than it was for Lanzecki. Kioda, the strange Ysali Khehora that had hung around for some time had used them as practice to help gain control over her magic.
The gray shadows of her companions flying away over head and towards the house flickered over the pair below. Sighing again Erionda began her quickened pace towards the house. If Lanzecki was starting to hurt from the cold it was only a matter of time before Uassae would start to protest. And he only did so if things were getting severe. She turned her head to regard Ismiril, if her Khehora, who had been trained in the cold were hurting. How was he holding up?
Trying to shake the concern from her mind, Erionda felt a panic over the bond from Uassae. Fearing the worst she tore into a dead run. "Uassae!" She yelled. Stopping dead in her tracks when the Khehora sent an image of another Ikiri trapped inside one of the many hunting traps that had been placed by hunters around the area. A look of dread on her face. She had never caught a pup in one of her traps before. It was mostly forms of food, often ones that were hard to catch.
"What is this? breeding season!?"

It had been easy keeping up with her, until all of a sudden Rio bolted forward. Cursing Miri followed but it was clear that the hybrid was in far better shape than he, and the distance between them grew. Had the look she'd shot him been one filled with measurement? If so, well, he'd prove to her just how out of shape and unsuited for long distance running he was.
Panting he jogged behind her, one hand pressed against his side in a vain effort to stop the pain that was radiating from the stitch just under his ribs. Someone had told him once, that if he walked, pressed a hand against it, and stretched the muscle the pain would eventually ease off, but he couldn't just slow down. If he did he'd lose sight of her for sure and become even more lost in the wastelands than he was. His internal compass was good, but right now everything was pointing in one direction.
Eventually he came across her again, and took a look at what she'd been looking at, or perhaps what she'd been shown. It was horrible. A noose-like trap that had been baited with meat, and a small pup caught in it. Blood was frozen around it and it looked like the pup had bled out, thrashing as it tried to free itself.
Miri whimpered, a hand rising to cover his mouth. His own pup whined as it crept forward to investigate, but Miri quickly knelt and held it back. "What- what...is, is that one of your traps?" He asked, voice shaking.

Erionda growled at the thought of that being one of her traps. "No, I don't make traps that kill the animal. Or ones that would have such a cruel outcome. Mine are all snow pits or ice nets. Not this." Erionda thrust her finger towards the pup her anger building as she looked around the frozen land. "This hunter better find a new area to hunt. It's too close to my home, catching things by killing them the cowards way."
Her fingers moved to wrap around the hilt of her sword. Drawing the great weapon from it's sheath. A slight snarling sound echoed to her right as Uassae came close. He like Erionda detested both traps set to close to their home and the horrible way the traps worked.
"Lanzecki's taken to the nest." Uassae started as he nudged the cold body of the pup. "I can't bring it back either. It's too frozen. Even if I tried it would just die again from the shock and cold."
Erionda nodded her head solemnly raising her sword she brought it down with all the force she could muster. Breaking the trap open and freeing the frozen body. "We can use the pelt, but Uassae I'm afraid the meats been spoiled."
A deep rumbling came from the Khehora. "Now the fairies can't venture outside. And the Hastar cannot run. If there are more. Even Lanzecki."
Erionda shuddered at the thought of the Ayrala Khehora stuck with his muzzle in a trap like this one. "I'll set out at first light to search the area." Her eyes flashed towards the Dovaa. "We better hurry on. I don't think that pelt will be good unless we cure it right away."
Uassae bent down to gather up the frozen and bloody block in his teeth.

Miri nodded, and bodily lifted his pup, making sure to hold it in such a manner that it couldn't squirm too much. It's paws were on his shoulders and his hands were tucked under its furry rump. Muffled snuffling made him giggle as the pup tried to pull his hat off. "I can thaw it out easily," Miri offered, "The meat isn't spoiled yet, not with how quickly things freeze here."
He watched as Uassae picked up the body and followed them back to Rio's home. "I didn't know that it was possible to bring something back that had bled out. Or had I read the signs wrong and it had strangled itself, rather than ripped its throat open?" The trap was a horrific one indeed. All twisted metals and jagged edges. He hoped that whoever had left such things had moved on, or had gotten themselves eaten before laying down more of them.
