Cookbooks might not be something one would expect in a college library, but there they were, right where the Dewey Decimal System said they would be! And Kaida was glad to find them! She wasn't much of a cookbook collector, but she DID collect recipes to add to her recipe app. It was a useful little thing, and made making sure she and the boys didn't live off of take-out easier.
Really, Matt just...was not allowed in the kitchen, ever. And Hiroyuki's repertoire was very small of what he actually could cook.
She stood there a moment, flipping through one of them in search of a recipe or four to add to the app, humming.

Pierrette was glad her major was changing to culinary arts. So many cokbooks for classes, so much delicious distraction, and the girl sashayed past to the cookbooks in a rather frilly outfit for the day, humming cheerfully as she looked for her course books to begin homework, beaming and leaning back to look at the other girl. "Oh, are you in Culinary Arts too?" She asked, happily.

Kaida blinked at the frilly girl who talked to her, then smiled and shook her head.
"Nah, I'm just a student looking to make sure she and her roomies don't poison themselves." She held up the cookbook currently in her hands. "I'm the only with any real skill beyond a few dishes, so I try to find new things to vary our diet with. Lest we wind up living on takeout, and that's no good for a bunch of college students." Two of whom were HITS students and spent large amounts of time in front of a computer or project.

Pierette smiled, nodding. "Oh! That makes sense! Have you tried the store closeby, too? They have some nice books, especially about baking!" Especially cupakes!....Pierrette could do with Cupcakes right now, actually, and she managed to repress a tummy growl.

"Hm? Oh! Eh...I don't really collect cookbooks. It's why I use the library. I get recipes, put 'em into this nifty little app I have, and I have a nice repertoire at my fingertips! And it's useful if I need to refigure ingredients and stuff!" She smiled sheepishly.
"I might be a little dependent on my phone." But it was such a nice phone. Really, smartphones were so many levels of useful and amazing.

Pierrette's eyes wet wide in shock "But cook books have wonderfu images ad similar!" She protested. "Surely you'd consider for that?" And so much hard work put into them. "Some re eies in books are so hard to get. Chefs work so hard on the books!" And her eyes watered, as if to cry.

Oh no! She set someone off! Kaida made a small noise of panic, shaking her head.
"Please don't cry. I don't mean any disrespect by what I do. It's...I know I won't use most of the stuff in most cookbooks. And again...refiguring ingredients. Ah...math was never my best skill. And my roommates are horrible at math relating to cooking. I..." She opened the app, showing a notation. "I have been noting what cookbooks things are from? That way I can tell people if they ask, or I can actually get the cookbook if I collect a lot of recipes from it?" Curse her practicality.
"It's another reason I use the library and not a bookstore. At least here, someone's already bought the book."

Pierrette sniffled, nodding and rubbing her eyes, brows still raised as she nodded. "I just.... Worry. I know I shouldn't but..." But it mattered.

"It's okay! I understand." She looked sheepish. "I just...well, I got into the habit because when my roommates and I started off, it was a little rough because all three of us are students and we didn't want to rely on handouts from our parents so..." She sighed.
"Cookbooks weren't top priority and now...well, it just makes no sense to horde twenty-thousand cookbooks you aren't necessarily going to use, when someone else could put that same book to better use? I do have one though."

"Oh, I understand." She nodded. "Now, anyhow - which cookbook?" She peered, beaming.

Ah! Situation salvaged! "Joy of Cooking! It's a staple source, I've found. And generally has recipes for just about anything basic." It really was a life saver at times. "I managed to find a very, very well-cared for copy at Goodwill one day, and I really just could not pass it up. And the prior owner had stuffed it full of their own notes. I...it's rather nice. It feels a bit like having the help of a friend in the kitchen, with how much care went into the notes." She wouldn't mind meeting the person one day, if she could.

"Good Housekeeping is also staple." Pierrette observed, beaming. "But oh! Julia Childs is a classic! Truly!" The girl all but warbled excitedly.

"I'll definitely look into those!" The girl definitely was a culinary arts student. She had a passion for food Kaida couldn't dream of matching. "Maybe I'll end up wi-" And then her stomach growled, and she turned a bit red.
"Ah...sorry." Apparently it was lunch time. Oh dear. "Uhm...if you want to continue talking, maybe we could move this convo to the student center?" And the food places there within.

"Awesome! And I know~." Kaida giggled. "I've been here for a couple of years, so I've had just about everything here." She wasn't entirely picky, since she'd yet to have something horrible on campus. "As for what kind...hm." She looked thoughtful, rubbing her chin. "Y'know what..." She gave Pierette a soft smile. "You're the culinary brain. How about you choose something? I'm good with most anything."
