The night after Valentine's Day was an important night for patrolling, too. There might be Negaverse officers looking to do a little cleanup from the night before. It wasn't like Negaverse officers ever really needed a reason to go out and make trouble, but when they did have reasons, it just made them even more dangerous. Megrez kept to the alleys instead of the parks tonight, thinking that she'd be more likely to catch an officer and some poor girl (or guy) in a hidden nook than out in the open. For all she knew, what could be an innocent covert makeout session could blossom into a starseed grab in minutes. There had been no lieutenants tonight, and there were less drunk girls out and about than last night, so perhaps things weren't as bad as she thought they would be. Except there was a Chaos aura prickling at the edge of Megrez's senses. A big one. And it was coming closer. There was a General on the prowl. Though Megrez wanted to run, to flee the scene to prevent a repeat of the incident with Mica so long ago, she made herself stay. She was an Eternal senshi now, and a transcendent one at that. She was strong enough to put up a decent fight, and at least her starseed would be safe.

General Painite left her little victim at home today, under the watchful eyes of her loyal minion, Merlinite. He was an asset to her, and was doing a fine job with all the tasks she was giving him. He saved her life, after all, and she adored him for that.
She might even say she loved him, if she were capable of feeling things like that any more. Maybe she did, in her own way. She treasured him, and wanted to keep him with her always. Was that the same thing? She was his, and she would keep it that way.
Painite felt an aura nearby and smiled, moving toward it and leaping from roof top to roof top like a gargoyle. She landed often in a crouch, using her hands to push herself forward and her legs to propel her off the leaps. She felt the aura below and dropped down into the alley.
"Come out, come out, new friend," she called, in a sing song voice, looking around for the senshi she knew was so very close.

Well, s**t. The General who had been on the edges of Megrez's senses before was now practically right there, probably in the very same alley she was in. No, definitely in the same alley. The danger factor had escalated exponentially. It was do or die time. That taunting tone did not imply that the General had gotten to her rank by accident. Using the pull of the Chaos aura as a beacon, she approached Painite, not speaking except for a murmured "Egg Toss." When she thought she was close enough, she flung the basic egg in Painite's direction, hoping to score the first hit.

That aura was not going away, and Painite was following it like a dog on a scent. She loved hunting her prey down, but sometimes her impatience got the better of her. The last thing she wanted was to waste her night with one little toy that did not want to play!
No, she needed to find this toy, and see how much fun they could have before it got too late in the evening. She was hosting people, after all, and did not want to be rude.
Painite was unfussed when the egg came her way, having enough time to side step it, but at least it showed her what direction to move in.
"There you are! I was hoping you would come out. Oh, I can see you now," she walked closer, grinning as she spotted Megrez, "look how pretty you are! Oh, you're so cute." She sounded sincere enough, with no small amount of delight in her voice. But she called her spear to her hand and grinned wickedly.

"I won't look good on your wall," Megrez said sharply, unable to hold back the quip. The General sure sounded like she wanted a trophy from this fight. At least Megrez didn't have to worry about that trophy being a starseed. Not letting up on the offensive, she muttered a hasty "Ostrich Egg Toss" and threw one of her bigger eggs at the General. If she was lucky, the General would at least get clipped by the egg.

Painite laughed at Megrez's comment, though it was not in the amicable, 'good joke' sort of way. She seemed to find something amusing in a different way, though she was not in much of a sharing mood.
"Your head will look lovely, regardless of where I put it, my dear," she hummed, shifting back and forth on her feet in eager anticipation.
A good fight always helped clear her mind. Blood was as cleansing to her as water to most others.
Painite felt a flash of familiarity as she saw an egg coming her way, and she scowled. Had she met this senshi before? Seen her in a fight? Sometimes they all blended together, and her mind was not as organized as it used to be. Jumbled. She teleported behind Megrez, avoiding the egg and taking a slash at the senshi with her spear, though she had misjudged the distance a bit and was not as close as she would have liked to be.

As much as Megrez wanted to snap back with a "no it won't," it was kind of impossible to do when there was a spear headed right for her. Painite's miscalculation allowed Megrez to jump back just in time and call up another normal egg. She was aware that she would run out very quickly if she kept using them like this (she only had one normal egg left and three ostrich eggs, given that her transcendence seemed to give her an extra ostrich egg), but she would keep her distance for as long as she could. She lobbed the egg in an arc, hoping to having it fall onto Painite.

If only it were that easy. She actually had a very difficult time killing senshi. Since they had their pathetic magic, and so often saved one another. It was so annoying. But sometimes she got lucky, and that was a real joy. Maybe tonight would be one of those nights, eh, when she could add another notch to her spear.
Since she had suddenly changed her position, she took a swing at the senshi with her spear again.

Lithiasaur It's okay! It was mostly just a quick battle. I can have Megrez (try to) escape soon if you'd like. Megrez felt something drop in her stomach when Painite teleported. This was how she died in that distant future. Would the general strangle her from behind? She had a feeling that the general would go behind her, so she stepped forward, but not far enough forward that she was in the clear. Painite's swing nicked her back, sending her to the ground with a cry. She scrambled to get away and back to her feet. This general was best suited to someone with a more accurate or quicker attack. While she would lament the fact that she couldn't remove a dire threat tonight, she knew her limit.

Painite snorted a derisive laugh. She had managed to do a small amount of damage, but nothing close to what she wanted to see. Blood and guts spilling to the floor were generally her goal, whenever she brought her spear out.
A little bit of blood was just not going to do it for her, but she supposed she would settle for what she could get.
"You knew where I was going. Clever little thing you are. I like you, yes I do. I want to play with you for a bit more." she smiled wickedly, her eyes flashing. Sometimes, especially after her near death experience, Painite lost herself to her bloodlust, and though she did what she could to keep a certain persona, it was currently melted away. She was exactly the person everyone knew her to be: crazed, vicious, and only out to cause pain and death.
She was tiring, though, and most of her show was bravado more than anything else.

"Yeah, well, maybe another time," Megrez mumbled as she finally got to her feet. "You might have won this time, but you're not getting any trophies. Next time I see you, General, it'll be with someone who's more of a match." She was going to have to send some inquiries out for people with good ranged attacks, or someone with the ability to go toe-to-toe with a General's weapon. With a surprising quickness, she bounded up to a nearby building's roof, aiming to put both horizontal and vertical distance between herself and the General. If the General pursued, she might be in a spot of trouble, but that was what the senshi phone distress beacon was for, wasn't it?

"I like your style, you threaten just like a Nega!" She laughed, remembering many times when she had offered similar threats to her enemies after a battle went badly. Of course, she never relied on anyone else to fight her battles for her, so she took some pride in that.
Of course, that also meant she lost a lot more of her battles than she won, but hey, she would take what she could get.
Any further banter was cut short, though, as her worthy adversary went skittering off, climbing up a building and heading away from her. Painite debated following after, but she had other things to do that were pressing at the back of her mind.
She would surely meet up with that Senshi again, and the next battle would be even better.
