Name: Patrick O'Ryan
Nickname: Pat, Lucky, or Charms if you want to get beat
Age: 26
Birthday: January 3
Sign: Capricorn
Gemstone: Garnet
Blood Type: AB
Fav. Food: POCKY! *cough* Steak and baked potato
Hated Food: liver and onions because it is just gross
School: Adult - Job is EMT but works at local firehouse
Hobbies:
Camping: Pat likes the solitary nature of camping and goes out to the forest when ever he can get a chance. He knows his way around a tent but isn’t what one would term a survivalist, he uses a lighter and packs his own food.
camping with friends isn't out of the question either, just don't forget to bring the beer and marshmallows.
Target Practice: There is something about the feel when it all falls into place and your arrow strikes right where you want it to. Its a feeling of zen and Pat really likes that feeling especially after a hard day at work patching up people. He isn't just a bow and arrows kinda guy, he has an extensive nerf collection and is always up for some paint balling... real guns though kind of go against his healer code.
Musicals: it takes a brave man to admit he likes musicals... Pats a brave man but he doesn't announce his hobby to the world in general. He picked up the hobby from his mom since she would love to sing the songs while working around the house. He is actually able to sing most of the well know songs and can recognize most of the others, but a singer he isn't. His music collection is extensive, everything from Phantom of the Opera to Wicked. Not only does he like to listen to the music he loves to go to the theater to see it and has a lively collection of friends to join in the pass time and doesn't rib him for the pastime like his coworkers would if they knew. If someone shows interest in it he will share but he won't gush or show his extensive knowledge until he knows them really well.
Cosplay: Pat was an avid cosplayer in his younger days, Kenshin was his favorite. He still likes to go to the cons to see what people come up with and he loves the new show called face off. The way putting on a costume can change the way you feel and act fascinated him and since he wasn't exactly happy as a kid the ability to forget about that if only for a few hours was a welcome escape. Because of his red hair he did have a tendency to cosplay as red haired characters.... Even girls although those were mostly lost bets with friends.
Old TV: One of the things his family did together was watch TV and Pat kept up with the tradition. He grew up on old shows, mainly reruns, because it was his folks favorite. Now he had extensive DVD collections from shows like Bewitched and Hogan's Heroes, Benson and Night Court, Early Edition and Quantum Leap. Sometimes he sits down and turns on the nightly round of crap from this generation of shows and finds that nothing can beat the shenanigans of Endora or the obliviousness of Colonel Klink. It would only take a few moments to pop in a DVD and sit back to enjoy.
Virtues:
Knight in Rusty Armor: Pat has a hero complex and likes to help however he doesn't want any thanks or glory from the help he provides, he doesn't know how to deal with it... If he had it his way he would just patch up the little kid who just scraped their knee and walk away, no thanks necessary. As it is when he is cornered in a show of gratitude he tends to get quiet and shy, a blush riding high on his cheeks and his ears as bright as Rudolph nose. He shrugs off the thanks with sentences like, 'I was just doing my job', "Its really no big deal,' and 'no, no its okay, really its okay'. Pat sees the ability to help others just as something he should do without thought of the reward that the action might cause and sees the most heroic act as being something a normal human would do. (humility)
Handy to Have Around: Pat has picked up some knowledge on lots of hands on things like plumbing and automobiles but what he doesn't know he is willing to learn. His dad was a big jack of all trades kind of blue collar worker and this was passed down to Pat. What he doesn't know, which is a lot, he doesn't mind learning and getting his hands dirty in the pursuit of that knowledge. Because of this, as well as his perchance to help others, Pat is well known within his neighborhood. He is the guy you call when something needs to be looked at but a 'professional' isn't needed yet sadly, however, he is no technical genius. Hooking up the wires and turning the system on is as Geek Squad as he can go but getting that big flat screen mounted to the wall... just let him get his tool belt. (neighborly)
Wax On, Wax Off: Pat is disciplined and has no problem taking the time to learn something right even if it takes a long time. he isn't someone who will give up until the very last and doesn't really need prodding to keep going. Slow and steady might not win the race but he will finish and he will finish right. He is someone who will stick through thick and thin as a friend's life figuratively, and some times literally as well, crumbles around them, Pat is right there to build it back up again... it will just take time, dedication, and determination, everything Pat has in spades. (discipline)
Flaws:
Damsels in Distress: Pat can't turn away from a female and tears even when he knows its a someone who is up to no good. He knows the 'fairer sex' is strong and capable but his mother raised him right, and would slap him silly if she ever thought he was disrespecting a woman. This doesn't change his need to help any girl who cries out for help, this can and has gotten him in trouble. He steps into fights he has no business stepping into, pokes his nose into other's lives, figuratively and some times literally stepping on toes assist the female who had tugged on his heart strings. This has placed his friends in difficult positions as well since they some times get caught in the crossfire and have been know to drag his a** out of the fire as well, something he does not take kindly too. (Kindness-a twist of first virtue)
Rocks Have Nothin’ on Me: Pat is pretty damn stoic... its hard for him to open up to others and shows it mostly by keeping his thoughts and opinions to himself, even his friends and coworkers have a hard time reading him. Strangers can see this as cold and unfeeling which can be quite jarring when dealing with him since he seems like he lacks all empathy. He makes one hell of a poker player and It's hard to make him talk when he doesn't want too and as such can be seen as a bit dull and slow as well as cold and unfeeling. He has only a few 'true' friends who can see the child that lives inside, but his stony exterior makes it hard for others to enter that special few who know the secret. (impassive)
Girlyman: Pat hates to appear as weak... as a girl... as less of a person. Because of his upbringing he was taught that anything making him appear to be less of a man made him a girl. Consciously he knows that Broadway songs, cosplay, baking, ect does not make him weak and helpless, and truthfully one of the strongest people he knows is a girl, but his heart still feels the sting of his father's displeasure every time someone calls him a girl... a child... a weakling... a wimp.
Counteract that feeling Pat is more likely to act in a overly masculine manor. He will chug a beer with the buddy's or tinker on an engine. 'What are you? A girl?' Is a phrase he will refute to the point of putting himself in danger either by getting into a fight or taking up the dare to prove his manliness. This redhead is no weakling so don't tell him he is one or he might just punch you out. (pride)
