Name: Patrick O'Ryan

Nickname: Pat, Lucky, or Charms if you want to get beat

Age: 26

Birthday: January 3

Sign: Capricorn

Gemstone: Garnet

Blood Type: AB

Fav. Food: POCKY! *cough* Steak and baked potato

Hated Food: liver and onions because it is just gross

School: Adult - Job is EMT but works at local firehouse

Hobbies:

Camping: Pat likes the solitary nature of camping and goes out to the forest when ever he can get a chance. He knows his way around a tent but isn’t what one would term a survivalist, he uses a lighter and packs his own food.
camping with friends isn't out of the question either, just don't forget to bring the beer and marshmallows.

Target Practice: There is something about the feel when it all falls into place and your arrow strikes right where you want it to. Its a feeling of zen and Pat really likes that feeling especially after a hard day at work patching up people. He isn't just a bow and arrows kinda guy, he has an extensive nerf collection and is always up for some paint balling... real guns though kind of go against his healer code.

Musicals: it takes a brave man to admit he likes musicals... Pats a brave man but he doesn't announce his hobby to the world in general. He picked up the hobby from his mom since she would love to sing the songs while working around the house. He is actually able to sing most of the well know songs and can recognize most of the others, but a singer he isn't. His music collection is extensive, everything from Phantom of the Opera to Wicked. Not only does he like to listen to the music he loves to go to the theater to see it and has a lively collection of friends to join in the pass time and doesn't rib him for the pastime like his coworkers would if they knew. If someone shows interest in it he will share but he won't gush or show his extensive knowledge until he knows them really well.

Cosplay: Pat was an avid cosplayer in his younger days, Kenshin was his favorite. He still likes to go to the cons to see what people come up with and he loves the new show called face off. The way putting on a costume can change the way you feel and act fascinated him and since he wasn't exactly happy as a kid the ability to forget about that if only for a few hours was a welcome escape. Because of his red hair he did have a tendency to cosplay as red haired characters.... Even girls although those were mostly lost bets with friends.

Old TV: One of the things his family did together was watch TV and Pat kept up with the tradition. He grew up on old shows, mainly reruns, because it was his folks favorite. Now he had extensive DVD collections from shows like Bewitched and Hogan's Heroes, Benson and Night Court, Early Edition and Quantum Leap. Sometimes he sits down and turns on the nightly round of crap from this generation of shows and finds that nothing can beat the shenanigans of Endora or the obliviousness of Colonel Klink. It would only take a few moments to pop in a DVD and sit back to enjoy.

Virtues:

Knight in Rusty Armor: Pat has a hero complex and likes to help however he doesn't want any thanks or glory from the help he provides, he doesn't know how to deal with it... If he had it his way he would just patch up the little kid who just scraped their knee and walk away, no thanks necessary. As it is when he is cornered in a show of gratitude he tends to get quiet and shy, a blush riding high on his cheeks and his ears as bright as Rudolph nose. He shrugs off the thanks with sentences like, 'I was just doing my job', "Its really no big deal,' and 'no, no its okay, really its okay'. Pat sees the ability to help others just as something he should do without thought of the reward that the action might cause and sees the most heroic act as being something a normal human would do. (humility)

Handy to Have Around: Pat has picked up some knowledge on lots of hands on things like plumbing and automobiles but what he doesn't know he is willing to learn. His dad was a big jack of all trades kind of blue collar worker and this was passed down to Pat. What he doesn't know, which is a lot, he doesn't mind learning and getting his hands dirty in the pursuit of that knowledge. Because of this, as well as his perchance to help others, Pat is well known within his neighborhood. He is the guy you call when something needs to be looked at but a 'professional' isn't needed yet sadly, however, he is no technical genius. Hooking up the wires and turning the system on is as Geek Squad as he can go but getting that big flat screen mounted to the wall... just let him get his tool belt. (neighborly)

Wax On, Wax Off: Pat is disciplined and has no problem taking the time to learn something right even if it takes a long time. he isn't someone who will give up until the very last and doesn't really need prodding to keep going. Slow and steady might not win the race but he will finish and he will finish right. He is someone who will stick through thick and thin as a friend's life figuratively, and some times literally as well, crumbles around them, Pat is right there to build it back up again... it will just take time, dedication, and determination, everything Pat has in spades. (discipline)

Flaws:

Damsels in Distress: Pat can't turn away from a female and tears even when he knows its a someone who is up to no good. He knows the 'fairer sex' is strong and capable but his mother raised him right, and would slap him silly if she ever thought he was disrespecting a woman. This doesn't change his need to help any girl who cries out for help, this can and has gotten him in trouble. He steps into fights he has no business stepping into, pokes his nose into other's lives, figuratively and some times literally stepping on toes assist the female who had tugged on his heart strings. This has placed his friends in difficult positions as well since they some times get caught in the crossfire and have been know to drag his a** out of the fire as well, something he does not take kindly too. (Kindness-a twist of first virtue)

Rocks Have Nothin’ on Me: Pat is pretty damn stoic... its hard for him to open up to others and shows it mostly by keeping his thoughts and opinions to himself, even his friends and coworkers have a hard time reading him. Strangers can see this as cold and unfeeling which can be quite jarring when dealing with him since he seems like he lacks all empathy. He makes one hell of a poker player and It's hard to make him talk when he doesn't want too and as such can be seen as a bit dull and slow as well as cold and unfeeling. He has only a few 'true' friends who can see the child that lives inside, but his stony exterior makes it hard for others to enter that special few who know the secret. (impassive)

Girlyman: Pat hates to appear as weak... as a girl... as less of a person. Because of his upbringing he was taught that anything making him appear to be less of a man made him a girl. Consciously he knows that Broadway songs, cosplay, baking, ect does not make him weak and helpless, and truthfully one of the strongest people he knows is a girl, but his heart still feels the sting of his father's displeasure every time someone calls him a girl... a child... a weakling... a wimp.

Counteract that feeling Pat is more likely to act in a overly masculine manor. He will chug a beer with the buddy's or tinker on an engine. 'What are you? A girl?' Is a phrase he will refute to the point of putting himself in danger either by getting into a fight or taking up the dare to prove his manliness. This redhead is no weakling so don't tell him he is one or he might just punch you out. (pride)

Knight Title: Tortuga Page of Jupiter

Challenge: For the Protection of Jupiter

Weapon -- A Whistle

Stage One: A simple tarnished brass colored whistle.

- It doesn't do much just make a shrill whistle when its blown into. Its about four fingers long but only one wide and made of a very tarnished brass. The sound it makes is piercing and rather annoying but causes no real harm, the worst you could do with this thing is place it against bare skin in the winter... it might just freeze to you.

whistle example

Stage Two: A simple brass bosun whistle, polished and shiny.

-The whistle has gotten powers now and with a short burst of sound, fog begins to form. The generated fog is around a foot to a foot and a half deep on the ground and obscures everything in it for around a 5 foot radius. It does no active harm to anyone but it can hide any type of trap that others can come up with from holes to magic. When one moves in it, you create a wake and can briefly see the ground before the fog once more hides it. A strong wind or a magical disturbance can help completely dissipate the fog. Tortuga must keep his concentration or the fog will fade away however the fog will dissipate naturally after 45 seconds total in a whole battle.

Size and visibility: 1' to 1.5' deep and approximately 5' in radius. It obscures everything it covers and is of a pea soup consistency.
Affect: the fog is so thick one can't see the ground beneath their feet. This can hide any number of surprises, from holes to magic. It is possible to even hide a person laying flat on the ground. However the fog itself causes no issues or damages, not even the chill a normal fog gives you.
Length: it will last a total of 45 seconds in one battle. It can be dispersed by breaking Tortuga's concentration or a large enough blast of wind, likely magically created. Small gusts of wind will do nothing more then leave ripples in the fog.

Bosun example

Stage Three: A bright shiny golden bosun whistle, A very fine chain and detail on the metal whistle proves that this isn't your average bosun whistle. Small golden baubles are strung on the chain as well, decorating it.

-When a long and piercing call is made a dense fog is formed in a 7 foot radius and approximately 7 feet tall, most would be completely covered by the dense fog. Once in the fog visibility drops to just under arms length and can hide any type of trap that others can come up with from holes to magic, just like the second attack however this time the fog itself generates magic.

When someone is within the fog, even Tortuga is subject to this magic, they feel as if they are on the high seas during a storm. The ground would feel as if it was rocking and bucking like the deck of a wooden boat. Illusion wind, rain, lightning, and thunder will also add to the feeling of being on a ship during a storm. There is no real physical effect caused by the fog however the illusion can cause motion sickness in anyone with weak stomach or leave residual dizziness.

Like stage two when anyone moves around a wake is created and the ground can briefly be seen before the fog once more hides it. A strong wind or a magical disturbance can help completely dissipate the fog. Tortuga must keep his concentration or the fog will fade away however the fog will dissipate naturally after 45 seconds to a full minute in the whole battle.

Size and visibility: approximately 7' deep by 7' radius. Visibility is around 2' or just under an arm length and is a pea soup consistency.
Affect: the fog is thick and obscures all within arm distance making it perfect for hiding people or magic. The fog itself generates magic. When someone is within the fog, Tortuga as well, they feel as if they are on a wooden ship in a bad storm, its all an illusion. There is no real physical effect caused by the fog however motion sickness or residual dizziness might occur depending on the person due to the illusion.
Length: the fog only lasts 45 seconds to 1 minute total in one battle. It can be dispersed by breaking Tortuga's concentration, a large enough blast of wind, likely magically created, or a magic blast of some kind. Small gusts of wind will do nothing more then leave ripples in the fog.

Family Information/History

Father: Connor O'Ryan -alive, living in NY-
Mother: Sara O'Ryan -dead-

Pat is from a pretty middle class family. His dad worked his whole life in a blue collar job while his mom took odd little jobs between raising him and taking care of the house. He graduated from DCU on scholarship and student loans with a Gen. Ed. degree, the first on his father's side to receive a degree. He started his current job by volunteering at the firehouse, volunteers could live at the station, and he liked it so much he became a certified EMT.

Connor was a bit hard on young Pat when ever he felt the boy was acting too girly and soft. He didn't approve of the whole dress-up phase Pat went through and breathed a sigh of relief when it seemed it really was just a phase... Pat just got better at hiding his hobby. To curb all softness from his son Connor taught Pat about fixing stuff with tools, women, and drinking when he was old enough. He never struck his son but his disappointment was quite clear when ever Pat showed a 'girl' trait like enjoying the musicals once he reached the age when Pat should have been more into monster trucks, building things, bugs, and dirt.

Sara on the other hand relished her son's creative mind and encouraged him to follow his dreams... She was just sad how like his father he ended up turning out like. She loved her boy with all her heart and only wished she could have spent more time with him. Sara died when Pat was 22 in a car crash, she survived long enough for him to say his good byes.

Extended Family
The Jacobs
- Rose, Xander, and Lilly are Pat's second cousins. Their father is Pat's mother's cousin.... basically Pat's Grandmother is their Grandfather's sister. They share the same Great-Grandparent. ((I think I did that right)).

-- Pat visited the Jacobs often as a kid and know them well. He moved to DC for many reasons, one of them was that he had family in the city. They are aware of his hobbies and actually occasionally help him with his cosplay costumes. Mostly Lilly and only when Pat loses a bet and the cosplay is a girl... the pictures are squirreled away for a rainy day.

Hey Fic,

Kao here to do your crit. His hobbies look fine, I like the target practice one, its really cute.

For his virtues, Knight in Rusty Armor needs a more positive spin on it. Its not the virtue but the wording, its great that he helps but if he helped than just walks off while people are trying to thank him and just ignores it, he might achieve people looking at him half happy and half like wth man. Its one thing not to want the thanks, but another entirely to completely brush it off ... unless he is doing like a poof where he go type thing.

Handy to have around his nice, but does he go around offering to help people with his skill. Do the neighbors have him on speed dial for leaky faucets and loose floor board? Also do it extend to technology, like hooking up the PS, Wii, Laptop, Ipad, ect ect. Some expansion that shows why people might like him for this hobby!

Wax on, Wax off has the same issue as Handy, a little expansion please.

For flaws, Damsel is distress is interesting? Does this affect his viewpoint of women and what if said damsel doesnt want his help? It's not totally clear how this would make someone dislike him and is reading more like he's probably easily manipulable.

For rocks, is it hard to get close to him. Does it take a while for people to get to know him? Is he not the shoulder to cry on? Having little sympathy or empathy?

Between Damsel and Girlyman, he seems pretty sexist and having a somewhat jaded view of the opposite sex. I'm pretty sure this isnt exactly what you are going for, so maybe trying to reword in a way so that he doesnt come off completely sexist.

Powered:

For squire, your wording is a bit confusing, overall the attack seems fine, but its a bit to long, we tend to like to see 30-45 seconds max for squire magic.

Fro knight stage, again your wording is a bit confusion and the way both are worded can be cleaned up a bit. Otherwise again the attack is to long, we tend to like to see 45-60 seconds max for knight stage.
