Redbud-Tree DON'T LEAVE YOUR BEST GIRL HOME ON VALENTINES MAN. Emily had never done the Valentine's day thing. Usually she waited for the fifteenth, when chocolates went on sale and the attitude changed from "Love" to "ALRIGHT LET'S PREPARE FOR DRNKEN SHENANNERS NEXT MONTH!" or something similar., so 'boy' and 'dinner at Hubert's' and 'Valentines' - especially with a boy she awakened with - was the weirdest a** thing she could think of. And as was proper she'd checked with her aunt and her buddy Hiroyuki and Matt and Kaida, and it was agreed. Chocolate. Joseph needed chocolate. Though part of it Emily suspected was the attitude boys ate their weight in food, Emily wasn't sure he liked chocolate, so, she got the mixed kind and had it tucked awkwardly under her arm and was waiting outside of Hubert's as invited (Best ******** burgers in town okay). Emily rarely wore dresses - they weren't comfortable and her father usually picked them - but buried in her closet were two or three she picked, Girly, without ribbons or bows, unlike Elpis' fuku. She hated that a** bow. Still, today she wore violet and black, a layered, lace edged, fluffy skirt on a dress with short fluffy sleeves and a black laced up corset, and boots, and a small tophat was in her hair in a barrette, and she smiled, touching up her makeup. This was the first Valentine's date for her, ever, and she hoped Joseph liked how she looked... She really did.

If Joseph had been there while Emily was agonizing about what to wear, he would have told her to relax - he thought she was pretty regardless of what she wore, after all. He'd also be in complete agreement with her about the a**-bow thing. He was a guy WHY DID HE HAVE ONE? There was something wrong there and it insulted his masculinity on a level he simply couldn't bear. Which may have influenced his choice of clothing for tonight's date, since a leather jacket was probably not considered date-worthy clothing under most conditions. At least this was a very nice leather jacket, and he had a button-up on under it instead of a T-shirt... That counted as dressing up, right? Once that was done, with chocolate (she ... liked chocolate, right? Probably?) and a little plush kitty (resembling he one who had awakened them!) tucked securely into his bike's saddlebags and well away from the heat of any running parts, he headed off to the strange, overcrowded house to pick her up. Here was hoping he survived her father long enough to at least hand over the presents.

Emily would have thought he was nice even in a tee, but hearing the bike she beamed, moving to watch and managed not to melt right there. HE COULD GET PRETTIER. ADD THE BIKE HOLY s**t. And the girl didn't resist the low purr, moving to green him when he pulled up. Every instinct demanded a kiss, and cling, a cuddle, something (Or was it hormones? That was a thing) but instead she whistled, long and low. "Holy s**t Joe." She crooned. "You. Holy s**t. Uhm. Uhm. hi." HORMONES BE QUIET.

"Yo," Joseph greeted, unable to say anything more intelligible than that as he took in Emily's appearance with more than a faint blush. She looked.... "Wow..." He was underdressed for this, wasn't he? Er... "Just a sec," he said, turning off his bike before fetching his present for her. "Happy Valentines' Day, Miss Wiley," he said, and greeted her with a polite kiss to the cheek. (And deliberately ignored the outraged shriek from inside the house. Tuning out Emily's father was becoming really, really easy.)

Damn he ooked good, and Emily smiled, offering him her ownpresent before cuddling the stuffed kitten in delight, nuzzling it. "Happy Valentine's Day, Mister Ross." She said, but the stupid smile on her face wasn't vanishing and she leaned in for a chaste peck, smiling a bit before looking over her shoulders. "YOU BE NICE IN THERE DADDY." Emily scolded with no small amount of giggle. "Or my new plushie will eat you!"

Joseph took his present carefully, and tried not to laugh too much when he realized they'd gotten each other candy. "Guess we have dessert or tonight covered, don't we?" He teased lightly, and tucked his gifts away. "You wanna put the kitty inside before we head off, or take him with us?" Glancing at the house, he grinned cheekily. "I think if you go in though, you'll be runnin' the risk of getting stuck in there all night."

"Maybe one dessert." Emily coughed discreetly, then nodded. "No reason he can't come. If I go in now, you're right. And I'm not sneaking out the window again." She shot the house a warning look, all but hearing her uncle scolding her father, and looked back to Joseph, grinning. "Besides, sweat is good for Daddy. Keeps you young longer." That's right Albert, she picked on your aging phobia. u mad bro?

"I wouldn't mind helping you get out that way if need be," Joseph said, and offered Wren his hand. "But c'mon, princess. Let's ditch this place before the mad doctor decides to lock you up 'til you hit thirty." Hubert's was calling, man. The lure of good food with good company was a call no sane man would turn down. Especially when the alternative was dealing with his date's overprotective father.

"Nah, we both know Knight's out already," Joseph said and waved at the house. "Given we know what those are like." Really, he did not want a book literally thrown at him. That thing was heavy. "Besides, if we don't move out now we'll never make the dinner special at Hubert's," he pointed out as he helped her onto the bike. "Brought a spare helmet for you," he said, gesturing to the bike. "Sorry if it messes up your hair, didn't want your dad t' kill me for endangering you."

"Sastic? Niot all of them. Awww, I should've grabbed the one I use when I ride with my cousin.: She smiled, taking the spare before slipping it on. Hair was hair and she didn't mind and OH GOD SHE GOT TO RIDE WITH REDICUPRETTY. "My cousin rides. What's the special?" She perked. It wasn't an 'is it good?' if only because Hubert's was a god among burger joints and Emily already loved the full menu. It was WHAT flavors they got to enjoy she wondered.

"Nah, I'm pretty sure spastic is just your Dad," Joseph said, and tried not to look too embarrassed. "I mean they escape the assbow. Stupid thing, that." And humiliating, even if the rest of his... uniform wasn't too bad. Really, though. Who puts a bow on your a** in the real world? That should have been reserved for little girls under eight and cutesy anime sparkle shows, if Joseph had anything to say about it. "As for the special.... you'll see!"

Emily made a face. "a** bows are not practical and I want to rip mine off." She gagged, and climbed on the bike, motioning Joseph she was ready. "You sir are a sneaky sneak." She giggled. Yeah, sneaky. But... Good. And warm and safe and sweet and AGAH SHE WANTED TO DO. THINGS. Ok, Emily, regain dignity. Don't fan yourself. "Still curious though~" That's right play it cool.

"Right?" Joseph groaned, waiting to turn the bike on so they could finish these lines of conversation without shouting and only being half-heard. "All I can work out is that they let the nearest enemy yank you in for a free meal." He made a face, then turned the bike on and got them on their way. Hubert's wasn't a long drive, but it was still a drive, and it was unfortunately hard to talk while on a bike. Maybe he should have rented a car or something for this evening? Eh, he'd ask her about it later if she wanted and save up for it next time, maybe.

If Emily was worried about a car, she'd have gien Albert a sad gaze, instead the girl wrapping both arms around Joseph to hold on tightly, enjoying the coserness the bike offered. Words meant no sounded dumb, and she nuzzled in, taking a breath of bachelor, oil, grease, and him, and made a small purr she was glad wasn't audible. This was nice. Right here.
