Walpurgis looked down at the pokeballs hanging at his belt and exhaled. Having to not blow his cover was a significant handicap. A buzzer sounded, signalling that the next round was to begin. He stepped into the stadium.

Alexa returned to the stadium and walked over to her trainer box. Losing the first battle and to Lyle again was a bummer. She sighed softly to herself and then looked at her opponent. This was no time to be all bummed out. She had a battle to win!

Alexa fingered her pokeballs deciding on who to toss out. She didn't know what pokemon her opponent had and Vincent still needed to rest from his last battle. She grabbed one and figured he was the next strongest on her team. She tossed the ball out releasing her Altaria. "Alright Stribog let's do this!"

Walpurgis eyed the altaria. Ice moves were brutal against the dragon/flying type, but Lothar wouldn't know the first thing about type matchups. He sighed inwardly; he really had a significant handicap. He just hoped that the higher-ups would understand. He pulled Marisa's pokeball from his belt, and sent out the ground type.

Alexa frowned when she saw her opponent send out a Sandshrew. Did he not know about type matchups at all? She shook her head. His mistake would just be an advantage for her. "Let's start off with an Ice Beam, Stribog!" She called out.
Stribog flew above the floor and stared down at the ground type. He wasn't sure what the other trainer was thinking sending out such a pokemon but complied with his own trainer's command. He flew straight at Marisa and shot out a light blue beam from his beak.

Marisa was chilled to the bone by the icy attack, and she shivered hard. Recovering, her eyes glittered as the altaria's fluff reflected the stadium's lights. Before Walpurgis could call an attack, she lunged toward the dragon type and grabbed for the fluff.

Stribog squawked when the Sandshrew grabbed onto his fluff. Did she not realize the amount of time he had spent grooming all that the other day!? His eyes flashed as he turned his head to face her. He flapped his wings hard hoping to dislodge her. When that didn't work he fired another Ice Beam at her.

Hanging onto the fluff, the sandshrew proved difficult to dislodge.The ice beam struck Marisa, however, she fell to the ground, disoriented. A quick glance at her paws revealed that she had successfully obtained some of the shiny fluff; or so she had thought. The fluff, no longer being illuminated, failed to shine. Crestfallen, the sandshrew turned to the altaria and questioned him, clearly upset. "What's the big deal, huh?! Why doesn't it shine, now?" Frustrated by the lack of shimmer, she threw the fluff at the altaria.

Stribog flew up higher when Marisa was finally dislodged from him. However he had felt the pull and pain that came with her ripping some of his lovely fluff off. "YOU CRETIN! HOW DARE YOU RIP MY BEAUTIFUL WING FLUFF!!!!!!!!!!?!!!?!?!?!!?" He screamed at her. He began to dive at her and was hit with the fluff she had taken. It barely slowed him down and when he was in range he fired another ice beam at her.

Marisa was knocked back by the force of the ice beam, and she got to her feet. "'Cretin'?" the sandshrew laughed. "I don't even know the meaning of the word!"
And that was absolutely true.
Walpurgis wasn't sure what was going on, but he did know that he should probably start issuing commands. "Use rollout!" Marisa nodded. "You got it, boss!" Curling up into a ball, the sandshrew rocketed forward, and somehow ended up scaling the wall before jumping off to hit the flying dragon.

Stribog scoffed at Marisa and flew up out of her reach again. He wasn't safe though. She ended up scaling the wall and then launching right at him. It was a hard hit sending him down to the ground.
"Change it up! Solar Beam!" Alexa called. Apparently the ice beams weren't slowing the ground pokemon down so it was time to try something else.
Stribog gave a small cheep to acknowledge he heard her. He then lifted back into the sky and flew around. Once he had a clear shot of Marisa he fired a green beam at her.

Walpurgis chewed at the bottom of his lip in thought as the sandshrew was hit by the solar beam and veered off course, slamming into the wall. Was it already time to throw in the towel, or would Lothar stick it out a bit longer? Dazed, Marisa collapsed on the ground, flat on her back. Well, that answered that. Sighing, he retrieved Marisa's pokeball and recalled the sandshrew. It was probably impossible from the start, after all.
Smiling softly, he waved to Alexa. "Sorry about this, but I think Marisa's had enough for today. Thank you for the battle - it was a good experience."
He turned and left the arena, wondering what the higher ups would think about his performance. He supposed Karina would tell them that he had little choice given the character he was portraying, but it did little to assuage his fears.

Alexa stood there dazed when her opponent just gave up. "Uh.... yeah sure! Good battle." She called out when she finally gathered her wits. She then looked at Stribog who flew over to her. "Guess we got off lucky this time, huh." She said giving him a pat. She then recalled him and headed out.
