Lyle was feeling pretty good after his last battle. He'd won! And it was no contest! They'd gotten rather lucky, but still. He entered the field with a smile on his face, and Spinel was grinning broadly. They were looking forward to the next battle.

Zak entered the stadium feeling quite well about his last battle. Flora had worked really hard for that win, especially through all of those status conditions. Seeing that his opponent had arrived Zak gave a small wave towards the boy.

Choosing who he was going to battle with was quite difficult. He was thinking of going with Flora again, yet she was probably still tired from the last battle. Finally he decided, "Alright Sakki Your up!" he called out throwing her pokeball into the air. The dragonite emerged from her pokeball, quite ready for this.  1050hp

When Zak sent out his pokemon, Spinel perked up and scrambled to the front of Lyle's hat to peer over the brim, looking at Lyle upside-down with a grin on his face. Lyle laughed and said, "OK, OK, you can fight this time." "Sable!" Spinel cheered, then tumbled off Lyle's head, twisting to land on his feet. He scampered off onto the field and waited for his first command.  1100 HP

A Sableye eh? Still he was going to stick to his plan "Alright Sakki, lets start off with Safeguard!" he called out. Zak wasn't going to let what happened last battle happen again.
Sakki complied putting a magical barrier around her.

So the other trainer wanted to protect his pokemon from status effects? Made sense. But Lyle was inclined to go with direct damage for now. "Spinel, Icy Wind!" Lyle called
The Sableye took a deep breath, then blew a cloud of frosty air towards his opponent.

Zak nearly winced as Sakki was hit with the icy wind attack. However he wasn't about to give up. "Sakki Swagger!" he called out.
At the command Sakki puffed out her chest, she herself was not going to give up either.

Spinel just tilted his head at Sakki's display, completely unphased.
"Keep it up, Spinel," Lyle called. May as well keep on while he could.
So Spinel grinned, then blew out another icy blast.

Not only was Spinel not bothered by the attack, he grinned cheekily and stuck out his tongue. Then he blew out another burst if chill air.

Well confusion wasn't working as well as he hoped it would for them in this battle so it was time to try something else. "Alright Sakki lets try freezing its movements. Use Ice Beam!"
Despite how tired she was from taking all of the attacks the dragonite took flight once in position she let out an ice beam from her mouth letting it go at the sableye.

The beam of ice hit Spinel dead on, and he immediately began to frost over. Before Spinel could completely freeze up Lyle yelled,"Magic Coat!" hoping his pokemon would be quick enough.
Spinel did his best, his eyes glowing as he tried to coat himself in a shimmering shield to throw off the ice. However it seemed he wasn't fast enough, and an instant later he was covered with a layer of ice.

"Nice one Sakki he called out. Things were looking up for a bit it seemed. "Alright lets hit him with a Dragon tail!"
Taking her position from the sky she dove down towards the frozen sableye swinging around so that her tail would hit the pokemon.

There wasn't a lot Spinel could do at the moment. Lyle wracked his brain for anything, but Spinel didn't have any moves that broke through ice. So they just had to wait.
