~A guild for true gaians~ This week's featured anime is.... Gundam Wing.Gundam Wing: ran for forty-nine episodes beginning in 1995. Initially directed by Masashi Ikeda and written by Katsuyuki Sumizawa (Ronin Warriors), the series was loosely based on the original 1979 Gundam series, Mobile Suit Gundam, created by Yoshiyuki Tomino and Hajime Yatate.
The series is based AC195 (after Colony 195) in a futuristic world where space colonys have been build and mankind is on the brink of war once again; Earth Vs. Colonys.
Five young men, teenagers ages 15-17, selected by Docters J, G, H, N & O, the creators of the Gundam Mobile suits (Metal robots that are controalled by the mobile suit pilot), were selected to carry out Operation Meteor, a mission to destroy the earth.
Fortunatly, each pilot decided to ignore the original mission plan.
The series is about five young men struggling to save the colonys from oppression, even when there own people, those that they are fighting for, turn their backs on them. Everyone seems to be against them at one point or another. As shown by one Heero Yuy, Pilot 01, even your own comrades cannot be trusted, as he stripped Duo Maxwell's gundam, Deathsythe, for spare parts when his own MS (mobile suit) got damaged.

Childhood: Raised by the Assasin, Odin Lowe, Heero never had a 'normal' childhood. His earilyest memories are of one of his first 'missions' which caused a young girl and her pet dog whom he had befriended to be killed due to a miscalculation. Named after the assasinated L1 politition, Heero Yuy.

Gundam Pilot 02: Duo Maxwell

Childhood: Eairlest memories are of Solo, a fellow street-rat that he lived with as a child who was killed during a plague (thought to be started by the alliance to 'dispose' of unwanted homeless on L2) when Duo was five. He got the name 'Duo' as Solo was one and he was two, never leaving the other boys side. He was then taken in by the Maxwell Orphanage, run by Father Maxwell and Sister Helen, where he was brought up as a Catholic. Sister Helen taught him how to braid his hair. The orphanage was taken over by terrorists, who Duo offered to steal a MS for to realease the other children. They burnt the church down before his return, leaving Duo just enough time have Sister Helen die in his arms, giving him her cross as a last gift. He believed himself to be Shinigami, the god of death, as everyone he had ever loved died.

Childhood: Having no memory of his childhood, Trowa does remember being a Mercinary and infultrating a Circus on L3, posing as a Clown and acrobat, where he met his sislter-like figure, Cathirin Bloom (thought to be his real sister, as he is thought to really be Trinton Bloom) Trowa became a gundam pilot by pure luck, as the real Trowa Barton was killed shortly before Operation Meteor. Nanashi, no name, as he was called, was assigned the role.

Childhood: A scholar since an eairly age, his bethrothed, Meiran Long belittled and berated him, thinking him a coward for not wanting to be a warrior as she wished to be. Shortly after their wedding (arranged), she was killed protecting their colony in a feild of flowers, where Wufei held her dying in his arms. He became a warrior to avenge his colony & his wife, calling his gundam Nataku after her (Nataku--Chinese female warrior of ledgend). His colony blew themselves up to stop the Alliance & Oz from blackmailing Wufei with their safty.

Childhood: Prince of Sanq, a pascifist nation, when his father and mother were murdered and country thrown into chaos, he, still young himself, joined the millitary as Zechs Merquiese with the help of Treize Kushrenada, renouncing his claim to the throne in order to help end the war. ALthough working for Oz for the majority of the series, Zechs motives remain a mystry as his metal half-mask cracks, he leaves Oz and Treize, joining White Fang and trying to Destroy the Earth
