Eziya loved wandering around the forests of Tale. As much as she hated to admit it, she missed her home and the trees of Tale made her think of simpler times before her departure. She had wanted to have a grand adventure full of excitement and mystery, but here lately she was just doing the same old repeating routine. Get up, work hard all day, sleep, and repeat. The Shifter simply wanted to be wowed by something, maybe explore a tomb or two! Anything would be better than the same thing she'd been doing. She had asked around the town about any old ruins or fun places to adventure in, so after everyone else had fallen asleep she set out to find the place. Now she stood in front of said place, bubbling with excitement but unsure of what to do about it. Dare she go in and explore unprepared? It couldn't hurt anything....maybe.

I hope this is okay for you. I feel like my starters are always pretty sad. ^^'

The first thing Eziya would hear to herald an appearance was the deep, throaty growl of a raptrix. It was a threatening sound erupting from the trees nearby, following only a soft sound of rustling. The beast appeared, huge and cream-colored, head lowered and feathery ruff lifted. Its wings were folded at its back and it ears were pressed against its head. It took two steps and stopped, staring directly at Eziya.

From beside the creature emerged a young, broad Leaf man wit a bow in one hand and a quiver full of arrows at his back. He was clearly curious about the source of his companion's concern. He saw a Shifter girl and offered a smile, then leaned over to nudge Bosede with his leg.

"Stoppit," he scolded. The great raptrix looked up to his master, then back down to the young woman, and his feathers did not flatten. Nyiim sighed and scratched the raptrix's back and turned again to Eziya.

"I'm sorry about that. He doesn't mean it," he said with a little inclination of his head. He nodded then to the raptrix, who approached Eziya and sniffed at her feet. His tail began to wag slowly and his ears perked up. Ah, there we go. Nyiim thought it was funny how he had never seen a member of the other races of Earthlings before his quest out of Tale, and now they seemed to be everywhere. He nodded to the rubble and depressed archway that signaled his target location. "Here for the adventure, are you?"

You could have written "she was standing under a tree doing nothing" and nothing else and it'd be fantastic. xD Do you want to control the tomb/ruins alone or shall I, or will we share? I don't mind either way, I love plotting places. <3 :3

Eziya had never seen such a raptrix before, though she had read about them in one of the books she had picked up quite some time ago. The creature was far more magnificent than any book could have made it out to be, and she was thoroughly impressed that the man before her seemed to be very close to it. Though the man himself was quite impressive as well. She'd never met an archer before, and the Leaf man seemed very capable.

"Ah yes!" Eziya spoke rather quickly, her initial shock at the large beast before her still had her a bit rattled. "I had heard there was some ruins around here and was eager to go exploring, but I am not exactly a seasoned ruin explorer or anything. I had hoped to gain the courage to go forth and adventure, but as of this moment I have not been able to."

She glanced back over to the ruins, sighing as she shook her head. Some adventurer she was.

Haha. Either works! I'm not picky at all, so if you have something in mind I'm all for it. :3

Nyiim peered off in the direction of the ruins and then turned back to the Shifter girl. She didn't seem especially well-equipped for lunging into temples, but then he hadn't really been either. In hindsight, exploring at that stage of his life had maybe not been the best idea. He imagined it would be quite the same for this other girl.

"I'm Nyiim," he offered passively, "That's Bosede." He noded toward the raptrix who was now surveying their surroundings for threats. He was a good boy. It was hard to remember a time before him! "I heard some boys in the village talking about this place. They say it's haunted." He paused and arched a brow at Eziya. "Do you want to go in?"

The young man was always open to expedition partners! He rarely was able to find anyone willing to just wander off into the forest, but he didn't have many obligations as of yet. You might as well take it when you can get it, right?

"Ghosts don't scare me. I was planning on going into the ruins and no spooky thing is going to stop me from adventuring! They should just beware," Eziya stated, nodding confidently as she turned to look at Nyiim and Bosede. "Adventuring together seems like a good idea though. Just in case, you know? Wouldn't want a spooky thing to grab you or Mr. Bosede here or anything. Though they may not want to try and take a raptrix, huh?" she continued, chuckling at the thought of spooky ghost trying to carry away the large creature.

She didn't want to admit it, but having someone there to help her explore made her feel a lot better about going in. At least Nyiim would hopefully have her back if something happened. Plus she did enjoy the company of the two of them. Speaking to new people always made her happy.

And if we happen to not run into any spooky ghost that's okay with me too.

Nyiim chuckled and shook his head. Right. Just in case the ghosts came after him. He wasn't sure he believed in ghosts, really. Spirits were different than ghosts.

"Actually, I met Bosede in a temple. I'm not sure what happened to his old master, but I don't imagine it was very nice. He's too useful to have abandoned." The young man jumped down over the edge of the rise to start inside. His first action was to lean in and see if any sort of trap hung above the door, craning his neck in and up. Nope, nothing. "There was a labyrinth, and even a bit of treasure left at the end, nevermind the booby traps." He stepped inside the looming stone doorway and took something from the bag at his hip. A clinking sound echoed down the empty passage, and then there was a spark and a billowing flame. Nyiim was lit from beneath, having struck a torch with flint and tinder, and offered the torch to Eziya.

"You never told me your name."

"Oh I'm sorry! I did forget that, didn't I?" Eziya blushed and took the torch he had offered her. "My name is Eziya."She inched closer to him, trying to take a peek inside the doorway to see what was in there. Maybe she could even spot a ghost from the doorway if she tried really hard. She was actually going to be adventuring for once, and her excitement for this prospect made her unable to stay still for long. She just wanted to roam around and see all the architecture and maybe find some treasure, and even if she found nothing the experience would still be worth it.

"Is your goal in here to find treasure? Or see the ghosts? Or maybe just exploring?" Eziya asked, curious why he had decided to explore. Her reason was really just to seek any adventure she could find, and these ruins were the perfect place for just that.

Nyiim nodded at the offer of a name and peered around them into the dark. They were illuminated, that was nice, but he'd prefer to see their surroundings. Not wanting to be impolite, he simply wandered to the nearest wall and set his fingers to it, hoping that Eziya would know enough to follow with their only source of light.

"Just exploring," he replied with an amused smile. Again, he wasn't sure he believed in ghosts and it would be foolish to be looking for treasure at an apparently well-known site. Anything worth anything would likely be looted already, but the souvenirs Nyiim took were rarely worth silver. He just took a stone here, a statuette there to remind him of his travels. Of course there could be something worthwhile in here. "How about you?"

"Oh I just like the adventure. It's fun, and exploring places like this has always been something I enjoy doing. Though I must admit I'm not exactly a skilled adventurer as much as I would like to be," Eziya sighed, following closely behind him with the torch. She didn't want to get too close for fear that she may bump into him if he stopped suddenly, but she wasn't against staying at least a little closer to him than she would normally. "I've been coming up with schemes and going on adventures by myself since I was a little girl, but now that I'm not near home everything just seems like an adventure. I enjoy it. Though exploring ruins and tombs are still very exciting and on my top things to do while adventuring." she smiled, glancing around the old ruin.

"Ah," Nyiim replied with a nod. There was no writing on the walls, and so he decided this place must not have been especially elaborate. Treasure was unlikely.

His own adventurous spirit had begun growing as a boy, watching his father go out to hunt and wanting desperately to know what it was like. As it turned out, he would begin hunting much later. His wanderlust remained. To live alone meant he didn't owe anyone anything and could easily scamper off to one location or another.

"You're away from home, hm? What brings you to Tale?" People could settle anywhere they wanted, of course, but it was still a bit unusual to choose Tale over some other locale in Jauhar.

Bosede's ears suddenly perked and he trotted off. Nyiim pointed after the beast. "Follow him."

Really, the raptrix had seemed very used to adventuring from the beginning, and his senses of sight and hearing were much more keen than his master's.

"I've always wanted to go out on adventures, ever since I was a little girl. That really didn't change once I grew up," she smiled, keeping a tight hold on the torch as she followed behind the raptrix. "Getting away from my father was an added bonus as well. That man is a nightmare and being away from him has been a wonderful thing. Choosing Tale was more of a pick a place and go, and I happened to eventually meet a group of traveling healers and scholars that I thought would be very interesting to travel with."

Eziya wasn't really one to think of why she had done something. She was more of a why not do something sort of person. Her stubbornness always got the best of her in these sort of situations, and her leaving home had been one of them. When her father said she wasn't allowed to, it had made her try even harder to leave. Now here she was exploring a ruin with a Leaf man - her father would be furious. His traditionalist values and insistent need to marry her off to another Shifter man drove her far away and she never planned on returning.

"What about you? Have you stuck to Tale your whole life? Or have you been to other regions?"

Nyiim smartly shut his mouth when parentage came up. He understood that some people just shouldn't have children, of course, or were actually soulless and insufferable, but the things people complained about were silly. What was the reason their parent had wronged them? Most worked only to better their children's lives, even if their children disagreed. He was biased, though, and he knew it. He had lost both parents rather suddenly and of course they had disagreed at times, but there had been love and understanding too. Now he was several years into a life on his own.

"Are you hoping to be a healer or a scholar?" he asked instead. Of course she didn't have to want to be one to travel with them.

Bosede was leading the pair down a long hallway and a short set of stone steps they had to be rather careful in traversing.

"I've always lived in the same village, but I've been elsewhere. Sauti, Jauhar, I know there's more out there. I was pretty sheltered up until recently, and I can't say it's not--"

A wide expanse of darkness loomed around them, and Bosede had stopped. The raptrix's tail swayed leisurely back and forth. A growl rumbled in his chest as he peered up at something or another. Twenty feet or so off the ground, apparently partially obscured by some wall, was a gentle glow. The source was not obvious, and in a moment it retreated into darkness. He couldn't hide the smile he shot his traveling companion. Had she seen that? Bosede whimpered and wagged his tail, then continued. Nyiim could see the whitish bulk of the beast weave around some obstacle and he gestured to Eziya as he followed, keeping within the range of the torch. "Be careful now."

"Oh Nyiim did you see that??" Eziya questioned, her face lighting up in excitement as she all but forgot what they were talking about. It just had to be a spirit or ghost or something awesome! Seriously it glowed! How cool was that? "Please tell me I'm not just getting excited over nothing and you saw that. Pleeease? I promise I'll be careful just please tell me you saw that."

She quickly grabbed Nyiim's hand with her free one, her curiosity definitely getting the better of her as she pulled him through the ruin. Eziya kept close behind Bosede, not wanting to get in front of the raptrix for fear of stumbling into something dangerous. As determined as she was to see what the glowing object was, she wouldn't put them in danger. Trying to take her mind off of the foreign thing, she tried to remember what they had been speaking about before it had appeared.

"Oh! I remember now!" she exclaimed a bit too loudly, blushing as her voice echoed a bit down the hallway. "Sorry, I didn't mean to say that so loud. I just remembered your question. I hope to become a healer pretty soon, but my goal as a whole is to become a scholar. I think I would enjoy that quite a bit. Especially if it means I'll get to learn more knowledge and help people. It'd be everything I could ask for."

Had he not been smiling hard enough to tell? Frankly Nyiim was still getting used to the idea of facial expression and doubted his skills, so he nodded to Eziya and opened his mouth to speak, but she already had him.

There was a crawling up his arm as she took his hand. Bad touch, bad touch! Of course he was well-aware it wasn't actually inappropriate, he was not one to take part in physical affections with strangers. That aside, it would be rude to pull away and the girl did have their only light source. He simply dealt with the unpleasant crawling sensation while she tugged him further in. He was looking east, though. Was there a stairway or a hall that might lead up to where they had seen the glow? Ghosts couldn't possibly really exist, could they? He had seen plenty of strange creatures and even stranger people but never the floating dead.

Bosede began to draw back, seeming to follow his master and his traveling companion more than leading them on. He turned to the pair, regarded them, and continued to survey their surroundings for danger. Whatever he had sensed, it was gone now, or else it had moved outside of his range of attention.

"Wait, wait! Hold on," he said with a laugh, tugging back on the girl. It wasn't much of a feat, considering he was rather taller and broader. "We can't run. Booby traps are a very real thing, especially if there's anything interesting in here. I've nearly fallen into pits of spikes before, and I don't think I could live with myself if you met your fate in here. The world needs as many healers as it can get."

Eziya stumbled to a halt as the taller man tugged her back, trying to keep her footing on the worn ground so she wouldn't bump into him. She grinned up sheepishly at him, releasing his hand as she strained to look forward. She hadn't thought of booby traps being a thing, so it was definitely a good thing Nyiim had been around to stop her. She may have been great at exploring the places in Jauhaur, but she was a clumsy youngling when it came to any other place. Eziya definitely inexperienced next to the older Leaf guy beside her, and if he thought she was a fool she wouldn't be surprised by this point. She had run head first into everything without a second thought - just like a child would. All things considered, it was a good thing Nyiim had showed up when he did or she may have potentially been in quite a bit of trouble.

Some grand adventurer I am. I don't even know how to be cautious.

"Sorry. I got a bit overly excited. I hope I didn't make you uncomfortable with my sudden excitement," she blushed, releasing his hand and attempting to make a subtle move closer to Bosede. No need to make him even more uncomfortable than he already was. "I will try to be more careful so you don't have to worry about me. I promise. There will be no booby traps getting me today. Not with you and Bosede around."
