This was stupid. It was a stupid, stupid prank and he shouldn't be doing it. But if he backed out now he would lose face with the guys, and he really couldn't afford that right now. He was on thin ice as it was for missing as many gigs as he had with Hafwen being in the hospital and then himself getting sick. But he'd be quitting soon so it wasn't THAT big a deal. He still thought they were being cruel to the freshmen coming in though, so he decided he'd only HALF go through with the prank. Entering the lunchroom he scoped out the freshmen tables until he found someone who looked like they'd be able to play along. Moving over to her table, he leaned down and whispered in her ear. "I'm going to sit with you, act like I'm being really flirty and asking you out. I'm not actually going to because I've already got a girlfriend and you're a freshman and that's not... yeah - but anyway my Name's Darren, what's yours."He plopped down in the chair across from her and allowed his gaze to drift behind her to the guys, giving them a nod as he let his features take on that of a predatory smirk. "I'm really sorry I put you up to this by the way - I owe you a soda or something for reals later, when I'm not being tailed."

Chailee had chosen to sit by herself that day. Her mind had been preoccupied by several things recently. At the fore front was all of this senshi stuff. She felt she had so much to learn yet. Not to mention the few patrols she'd been on since being awakened had been, well to be blunt, boring. Yes, she had met that one Knight but he seemed to only add more questions to the ones she already had. With a sigh Chailee poked at a carrot on her tray, completely absorbed in her thoughts, and practically jumped when she heard someone whispering in her ear. What was going on? Pretend? What? "Um I am Chailee." She looked at the boy as he sat across from her. She felt a bit unsure of herself as he began his 'flirting' with her. I don't know if I like this."Wait. Tailed? What's going on? Is someone chasing you or something? Are you in trouble?"

"Nice to meet you Chailee, love the hair by the way it's very nice," He said, motioning to it with his hand before pointing out his own green dyed locks. "Naw, not in trouble, just trying to keep my band-mates from giving me s**t. They want to prank freshmen since we graduate this year so... you know how seniors can get."He gave her his best winning smile as he leaned a little forward. "So they wanted me to try to convince a freshmen that I was totally into them. Knowing full well I already have a girlfriend. Which... is really mean and unfair, which is why I asked you to play along with me. Like I said, I'll make it up to you for real later - but for now I need your help.""I totally understand if you want to storm off on me and not go along with it - I wouldn't want to be in this situation either... Though ironically enough I kinda was come to think of it..."

"Oh...Thanks!" She reached up to tug at a curl as Darren motioned to his own green hair. It was odd being complimented by a boy. Chailee had always been one of those girls who never really gave boys a second thought but it was interesting how now she really appreciated the attention. "That's not really all that nice of them to do." She wrinkled her nose a bit. "Even if they are seniors." She wanted to badly to turn around and look at the seniors that she was sure were behind her with the look that Darren had cast in that direction but she refrained. After all, if she was going to help him it only worked if she didn't give away the fact that it was a complete set-up. But...she still wasn't completely comfortable with the whole situation. In fact, since his compliment, she felt even more awkward and unsure of her self. "I won't run off." She looked down at her tray of food and pushed at another carrot before realizing what she was doing and putting her fork down. "I just think you might have picked the worst girl for your prank. I am...I am not much of a flirt...I mean...I've never had a boyfriend so I am not really sure how to pretend I am interested and make it look convincing?" Did I really just say that? I am such an idiot.

"Well they're raging assholes, so..." Darren shrugged. "Soon as I start up DCU in the fall I'm quitting the band and focusing on my own music..." He laughed a little, reaching out he gently took her hand so they could see. "Oh, don't worry about it. They're expecting you to be completely floored.""Hey, it's all good, you have plenty of time. I didn't get start dating till I was almost 17." He chuckles weakly. "So you're in good company there."He was dutifully ignoring the guys. "Hey, meet me outside the band hall after school. I'll take you out to get something to drink or something... Not a date - just a thank you for helping me out."

When he reached forward and took her hand Chailee could feel her entire face getting warm and flushed. She had been doing so well! She had managed to get over her initial uneasiness about the whole situation but now she was just rocketing into plain awkwardness. If I pull my hand away I'll probably blow his cover but this just feels too...real!Truthfully Chailee wasn't listening to much that he was saying at that point. The moment that he had taken her hand in his her brain seemed to have completely shut off and was focused on the contact and how uneasy and awkward she felt about the whole thing. She had no idea how she should react or what she should do at this point and truthfully she was ready for the entire charade to be over. In fact she was so caught up in her mind and the need to end it that Chailee hadn't paid much attention when Darren asked her to meet him after school. Well more like she didn't fully listen and before she knew what she was saying... "Oh, uh...yea. Sure." It took her a moment to really compute the words that Darren had said and realized she had just agreed to hand out with him after school. Though he swore it wasn't a date, Chailee still felt odd, awkward and slightly guilty about it. He did have a girlfriend after all. Ok. This...this just needs to stop now so I can recoup myself."Um...are the other boys...ya know...still watching us? Do you think they'll buy that I am uh...into you?" Please say yes and let my hand go.

"Hm?" He asked, pretending to bring said hand to his lips like he was kissing her knuckles. "Oh, no they're still watching - they'll watch us all period." He did let the hand drop though. "Sorry, I'm sure this is like... really ******** weird. But bear with me."He smiled at her, winking. "You can't feel any worse about this than I do. No offense or anything, but you're way too young for me. You're probably about as old as my little sister and that would be... just... Ew."He was actually trying NOT to shudder, but a slight tremor made itself known in his hands. "You're cute - don't get me wrong. I'm sure you'll make a guy really happy - or a girl, whatever you're into."He looked around for a moment and then slowly stood up. "Alright, I think I've wooed you enough - you're welcome to join me if you want though, I'm just heading out to get some air."

Another crimson blush blossomed across her cheeks to rival the last one when Darren lifted her hand to his lips. He didn't make contact but just the mere thought of it was enough. When he finally let her hand go she tried not to whip it back into her lap as quickly as possible. Just a bit more and this little charade would be over right? Whether they were watching or not yet they -had- to have seen enough. At his comment though she felt a bit...surprised? Let down? She wasn't sure. It was an odd feeling but it was quickly replaced with warmth when he complimented her. Well at least I am cute if not old enough. Wait...what am I thinking...Chailee didn't say another word as he got up and left. She just sat there and watched him stand up and leave. The sound of the cafeteria around her continued on as before and she took some comfort in that as she let her heart rate slow and the blush on her cheeks disappear. Taking a deep breath she let it out slowly before reaching for fork she had so hastily put down when she heard them from behind. The boys from the table were being more than loud enough talking about their friends obvious achievement in wooing the freshmen and try as she might Chailee couldn't block them out. Oh, she tried to continue her lunch but it was in vein and she promptly stood up, gathered her bag, dropped her tray off at the dumping station and went outside. Why she seeked out Darren she wasn't sure. But she walked up to him and sighed but wouldn't look him in the face. "I could hear your friends talking. Seems like your little show fooled them."

"They're not my friends," Darren said, matter-of-factly as he looked out toward the band hall. His back was leaning against a wall, as if he was trying to block out the chill of the wind. "Business partners, yes, friends - never."He chuckled then, turning his head to finally face her. The guilt was written all over his face - in his eyes and in the slight frown creasing his features. "I mean, it's not like I told them I have a girlfriend, because I knew if I did they'd ask to meet her and then they'd harass her and she doesn't deserve that." He rubbed his face for a moment - the flats of his palms slowly stretching his skin downward as he groaned slowly. "Look, I just..." How could he put this without sounding like a complete a*****e? "I really didn't want to do this stupid thing - and I really don't want to give you the wrong idea of things. I'm pretty much one ******** away from being kicked out of the band, which is kind of my only source of income right now. So I have to suck it up and do things I don't like to do in order to fed their overinflated egos. They think they have me over a barrel but as soon as I get into college I'm walking, money or no."He shook his head slowly. "I don't want to give you the wrong idea. You're a sweet kid - but you're a kid. If you don't mind hanging with my little sister for a bit, since I have to take her home after school - I'll give you a ride home and buy you a soda or something to make up for this s**t-fest. But other than that I think unless you really need tutoring or something there's really no reason for you to track me down - ever."

Chailee looked at him and nodded as he explained his circumstances. She wasn't sure how she felt about it. To only be with people because they were a means to end didn't really make much sense to be but at the same time she'd never been forced into a situation quite like that. At least he's smart enough to not get his poor girlfriend involved because if they think tricking freshmen is a fun game then I can only imagine what they'd do to a band members girlfriend. When he started calling her a kid though, Chailee bristled a bit. "I am not that much of a kid. I am only a few grades below you." Her anger at his words seethed a little bit. Especially since she had just done him the favor of dealing with that little show to help his reputation with his band. Not to mention it would probably mess with her own social life for a few days. It wouldn't take much for her classmates to begin teasing her about 'her senior'. The mere idea of it made her flush in embarrassment. "No, I think I'll just head home on my own. Thank you though. And no worries, once the chit chat of our little conversation is old news to the school I doubt you'll have to hear about or from me again." With that Chailee turned on her heel and walked back into the cafeteria to search out her friends and begin to deal with the questions she knew they'd have.

What the hell? Darren shook his head - it wasn't his problem what got her all pissy. To him she was a child, she was the same age as his kid sister and he would see her as such.
But whatever, it wasn't his problem and it saved him from potentially explaining to his girlfriend why there was a strange girl in the back seat if he ran into her on the way home. No matter.
No longer his problem.
