A cardboard coffee cup in hand, Zeke walked along the path along the edge of the training field at a subdued pace. It was early afternoon, but the Mist hadn't been to bed yet. His hours were often erratic and unpredictable in the infirmary, and it really wasn't unusual for him to start or finish a shift at any given hour of the day, or night. Last night's shift had at least been tolerably short at eight hours. Weak compensation for the ridiculous time frame, but at least it wasn't a twelve. Those were murder. He was moving on autopilot, sipping at the lukewarm coffee in his cup. Visions of warm beds and soft pillows dancing through his head.

Rep had become a danger to everyone carrying a cup of coffee of late and was presently tracking Zeke like a wild animal.
When he got near enough, he jumped and - summoning the axe - swung at the other man out of nowhere in exactly the fashion he'd gotten a reputation for doing of late.

Well not that was just cruel.
The attack came out of nowhere, and Zeke hardly had time to jerk away from the wicked arch of the blade. His coffee hit the ground, plastic lid popping off, and the contents exploded up and all over. For a second Zeke stared down at mess, then Lagertha was in his hands as he heaved a long suffering sigh. "What the actual ********?"
Sneak attacks were one thing, but Zeke was tired, he'd just finished an annoying shift, and all he wanted to do was catch a shower and sleep. Right that moment a spar was not on his list of desires, but it seemed he wasn't going to have much of a choice here. The sooner they got this over with, the sooner he could be on his merry way.

Rep took a moment to gloat over the spilled coffee, mentally incrementing his tally of how many cups of hot sustenance he had slain. Part of him hoped he'd get the chance one day to hunt down the elusive and fancy Jordan special brew in its natural environment.
He looked from the coffee to Zeke. "Call yerself a ******** man? AVENGE ITS DEATH."

Lips pursed, Zeke leveled a very deadpan stare on the other man. "Avenge its death?" It was ******** coffee. Still, the fact remained that Rep wasn't going to just let him walk away. The Death had a bug up his a**, and the easiest, fastest way to get back to the dorms was to just give him what he wanted. Breath leaving in an derisive snort, the man dropped the handle of one ax to let the chain slid through his fingers. Then he was jerking it up in a wide arch before launching it over Rep's left shoulder and yanking it back suddenly to dig the wicked point into his shield. HP: 40 DMG: 7 CHG: 1/3

The pain hardly registered at first for Rep, not because the damage was not significant - it hauled his shoulder forward in a jerk, but because at this point the pain input was twisted up with so many others that he was growing numb to it all. The weed and painkillers only helped.
"Ah right. No the metaphor type I see." he said with a shake of his head. Slowing down his speech he addressed Zeke in slow simple terms as if he was hard of thinking. "Was. Joke. About. Spilled. Coffee."
He gave up on it, leaping into the air instead and bringing the axe down in a very typical sort of cleave on the other man's shield.

It took a lot to actually rile the Mist up, so Rep's attempted mockery was met with an almost bored focus. There was no point in responding, he didn't care enough. It wasn't even entertaining, it was just obnoxious. So it didn't merit a verbal response. Instead the Mist rushed in to close the short gap between them, aiming a swift strike for at one of Rep's arms. HP: 35 DMG: 5 CHG: 2/3

Rep reacted as well as he always did to silence, to perceptibly being ignored or dismissed. When he swung it was with gritted teeth and no small degree of anger behind the axe's swing.

Well that was a fun reaction, albeit painful. The axe struck him in the side, sent him staggering, and it was luck more than skill that kept him on his feet. He was smiling though, as he straightened. A lazy, condescending sort of smirk meant to dig and prickle. The sort that didn't need the addition of words, but spoke well enough on it's own. It seemed Rep didn't like being ignored, and Zeke being Zeke, he had to needle, push those buttons, see just what might happen if he kept up the silent treatment. He swung, but there wasn't much force between it, and Laggy's blade bounced harmlessly off Tracy's cracked edge. HP: 24 DMG: failsauce CHG: 2/3

Rep simply let himself fall into the back and forth of simple combat. He didn't bother venturing further banter with the other man, the simple act of chatter, good or bad was a vulnerability for Rep. It was fine if the other person engaged him positively or negatively. If they did not he gave up, he refused to look desperate for social interaction. Instead he focused purely on the attacks, irritated at his own slow pace HP: 39/50 DMG: 2

There was a slight measure of disappointment when no further banter or reaction came from his silence, but Zeke's main concern at the moment was getting this over with and getting some sleep. If he could poke the bear a little during, all the better, but he wasn't going to go out of his way to be a pain in the a**, at least not now. Given a little more sleep, things likely would have been different. Rep's axe connected again, though not nearly as hard this time, and Zeke made another hack at him, missing his arm by a fraction of an inch. { Boil, you are not trying hard enough. Focus!} HP: 22 DMG: - CHG: 2/3

Rep felt the miss was much too close for comfort and immediately tried to get some more distance between them once more, his attack more aimed at pushing Zeke back than gaining any major ground himself and what damage the serrated blade did was almost purely incidental.

It did force him back. Zeke hopped away from the blade as it bit into his shield, but not before it managed to tear it it first. Again he threw one of his axes, this time towards the other man's arm to graze the blade against his bicep. Likely he should have been trying harder, taking this a little more seriously than he was, but he hadn't been out there looking for a spar. This wasn't something he'd chosen, and there was no real danger here. Lagertha gave an irritated snarl in his head, but he ignored her again. HP: 19 DMG: 3 CHG: 3/3

Rep hissed irritably as his bicep was clipped, always sensitive about anything near his own main weapons. "Watch the ********' guns." he said, once again trying to keep the other man at bay, irritable he himself had no range other than what Tracey's size afforded him, in itself a liability and a problem in combat.

Zeke made a face lost somewhere between amused and exasperated. "It's a ********' spar." Alls fair. He might not have been all in, eager to get this s**t over with, but he certainly wasn't going to abide by any Rep appointed rules. Lagertha gave an eager buzz--pushing, egging him on. { Bring the storm, Boil. Knock him off his feet!} The Mist chuckled, always amused by the eagerness of his weapon, and he directed a pointed grin at the red head as he adjusted his grip on either leather wrapped handles. There'd be no warning, nothing but the smile before he stepped forward and brought both curved axes inward. Where they met erupted swirling wind, a miniature cyclone that whipped at the grass as he barreled full steam at the red head. HP: 16 DMG:19 CHG: 0/3
