Monday felt way too normal a day after his visit to Maebe's: still an early morning breakfast, still a weigh in on the scale in his room, still a disappointment, still an area to clock in at afterwards. The world moved on. He could have almost imagined the whole thing if he didn't still have a scab at his bottom lip nagging him the whole time. A habitual chewer, Dawson had to make a conscious effort not to worry it with his teeth as he worked.
His supervisor decided to let him go since they had made good headway on their building, but the free time lying out before him felt a little too vast. Remembering he had promised to contact Ace about a spar once he had an open spot in his schedule, Dawson pulled out his phone and offered to meet him on the training field in ten if he was up for it. And he assumed the guy was; it was mid-afternoon now, and Ace had only said not to ask him about anything in the morning.
Waving the hunter goodbye, he trudged his way to the fields and rolled his shoulders, successfully popping them with a sigh. It was a good day to be out: not too cold, barely any clouds, and the welcoming sight of beat up turf and dummies...He tugged at his cap, summoned his shield, and began to do a few warm up swings at the targets while he waited.

The man had his long tufts of hair bouncing at his back, the arm hugged around the wide neck of Dawson with enthusiasm. "Thanks for calling." The pull and drag was all of a sudden. It wasn't the mornings that he would be lazy like a cat basking in warm sunlight, the man was well adorned with flawless make-up. The hand with beautifully painted nails slid up the Moon bear's shoulder and he skittered to his front, checking the shaggy man from top to bottom. "Hmm huh, seems safe and sound?" The nasal tone was strong, when he teased and nudged.

"Wuh—" The tug to the side broke his concentration so thoroughly that Dawson was baffled when he first saw Ace. Then he remembered himself and barked a laugh as he straightened up and fixed his cap. The Sun's photo had hinted at an interesting character, but as per usual the real thing caught him off guard—namely the slinking, colorfully painted hands. Man, this island had some kind of odd alright. "Yeeup! One piece," he said with a slap to his stomach. "Guess I had nuthin' t'worry about like ya said, huh?" He hefted his shield up, and the lion sculpted into it glared at Ace. "So, ya ready t'go?"

"Not really, how did you get the wound on your lip?" He gave Dawson a wry smile and put on his gloves. "Anytime." As soon as he finished, a long big scythe took over the space in his palm and 'whoosh' as he wielded it. "It would be good for a proper intro? Ace and Catherine from Sun division." He made a dramatic bow like ringmaster in circus would perform. Fancy nails hidden but the make-up still drawing attention from other on the training fields. Not that Ace would care, his make-up was flawlessly beautiful, just looking at his face, he'd mistaken as a pretty lady. Under one of the eyes, a tear drawn in black. The tall Sun would be the weirdest person Dawson meet on the island.

"You can use it to attack? Like the lion would breathe fire out?" The taller man made his move first, drew the scythe backwards and made use of his waist to bring it forward like arrow on bow shot out. The pointed end dug into Dawson's lion shield and made a loud clunk, followed by series of smaller rattles when they pushed against each other. "Tell me more about the date? Was it great?" "Oh, uh, that, hah—" He nearly bit the spot again when the scythe came flying, a surprised yelp cutting off the rest of the sentence as he stumbled back. s**t, these Suns didn't mess around. "R-Right, uh..." Dawson noted the painted tear in particular and paled. Didn't gangs have those? What about the Asian Mafia?? "Dawson, butcha know that already. Uh, this is Syn-ty-che," broken into the syllables sin-tih-kee as he still had trouble with her name, "n' she can breathe fire kinda, yeah, just not 'til she's had her fill a'Fear. Nice t'meet ya'll in person." He braced his weapon properly this time. "The date, uh...I-I dunno if you'd really call it that," he said mildly. "But she did bite my lip a bit too hard. S'my fault it tore, though." hp: 32 damage: defending for 5 charge: 0/3

The shield absorbed most of the power but it dealt damage, the eyebrows above his hetero-chromatic contact lenses knitted together lightly to form small valleys. "Are you scared? Of me. You are stuttering." Still in the normal world outside, people who freaked out for his approach would call him psycho and pleaded him not to hurt them because of his quirky style. "Tell me what bothers you." He said softly. "How to spell her name?" He swirled the long scythe as if he was performing juggling at ease. A light gentle kick at the portion near his leg to bring the blade upward, he lunged for another blow. Hey Catherine. < I demand something sweet after this.> Alright, give your best now, sweetheart. Without Dawson knowing, the two made a compromise. It felt bad to talk too much and do too little. "You two made out and you don't count that a date. So what's a date in your opinion?" Ace chuckled lightly. "Wow. That chick's aggressive, you just met for a - first time and she's planning to devour you. You forgot to prepare foods huh?" The last one was said with a teasing tone and a lopsided smile, he of course didn't believe she was craving for merely foods. < That b***h again.> Catherine singsong-ed a bored intonation. A monotone humming can be heard coming from the scythe, was it just the vibration from the crash or Ace's weapon was having some opinion, Dawson couldn't tell. Dawson gave another little nervous laugh. "No just, uh...yeah, okay. Sawry. I-Is the Asian Mafia really a thing?" he just straight up asked. "You look kinda like a gang member, that's all. Uh, no offense." A bizarre looking one, but his knowledge of Japan (the blanket word for all things Asian to him) was summed up in one word: weird.
At least this time he caught the scythe against one of the grooves of his shield and pushed Ace back; the hum it made vibrated uncomfortably up his arms. "Naw, I wouldn't say make out," Dawson said, though his cheeks were turning pink just remembering it. "I was just hangin' with her, y'know, talkin'...eatin' snacks I brought..." Other things too embarrassing and confusing to be considering in the middle of battle. "But yeah, y'know, she's a go getter. Think a lotta the women here are."

"Sawry? Your way of saying sorry? Possible but the chance's little, so probably just joking." He couldn't help laughing, aloud. "G-ga-gang member? Oh man, you're so cute." Ace used his gloved hand to wipe a tear he squished out of eyes, regaining his breathe. "Does the gang members in your homeland look like me?" The tall man pointed a finger at himself, tilted his head in a funny way. "Or you mean I look like someone from Asian Mafia?" He put his hand under chin. "People of the orphanage did say I look like an Asian, but I grew up in western countries and I dunno what my parents were, so I can't say I'm or I'm not an Asian. Maybe a mixed." He shrugged. "All I can tell you is I'm not a gang member of any sort of mafia, my look is just my interest, nothing to worry about. I won't bite you like that chick." No one dared to say anything about his quirky hobbies because of his monstrous physical strength, a deception of his slender build. He would lie to trick him, but he knew Dawson was startled already. "You watched too many Japanese animation?" In anime, people dressed like him are highly suspected to turn out dangerous. "Objection~" He dug his scythe like a pickaxe, but not aiming to hurt Dawson. He was feeling what it was like to have his attacks blocked, and he understood why Harrison on twitter asked him to try. If he had a Moon defending him, he could use his full attention on attacking. It was such a cool idea that made his eyes flashed. "Step one is done, I think - if you haven't stopped her, it would move to step two. Catherine said." Ace pulled his scythe back, repeating what the doll haunt huffing in his mind. He, of course, excluded the cursing and bitching. "I don't believe she didn't invite you. If you don't have the intention, then better bring someone you can trust." If Dawson wanted to explore more on this new relationship, what Ace suggested could slow the process down. "Yup, women can be aggressive, carnivorous, like female lions. They are determined to get what they desire, they will lure you for their goals, like Sirens." He gave Dawson a glance, smiling. "Of course beautiful but deadly." "It's rare to see ladies who wants a pure platonic love, sex is a pleasure, even friends can make out. Our world is just like that." He added, and agreed by his weapon as well. HP: 40/40 DMG: 2 [all defended again] Charge: 3/3medigel Dies more, sorry Dawson orzlll

He relaxed some. So not Asian Mafia, just a little eccentric. Alright, maybe a lot eccentric. But Dawson's brow furrowed a little in surprise when Ace mentioned an orphanage, though he didn't say anything about it. Namely because his attention was divided between trying to anticipate how he'd swing his weapon to fend him off and this conversation topic that was making him more and more self-conscious. "What, m'supposed to suspect people now?" he asked. "Thought it was just a friendly invite, nuthin' suspicious 'bout it." He paused, cocked his head at the purring he heard, and laughed a little. "Syn says she agrees, though, 'bout the women being lionesses. S'them that do the huntin' in a pride, y'know." Beautiful and deadly, that was damn right. Hell, Ace was an example for the men too. Dawson would have to watch himself. "Watcha mean steps?" He looked a little confused. "Ain't any steps, it's just, y'know, friends." Sort of. At least he thought so? hp: 32 damage: defending for 2 charge: 2/3

"Nah, no problem if you're fine with getting laid. Not all the ladies wanna bang after all and you've the right to reject them at you will." He chuckled and shot a smug smile, "Isn't it, Syn? Since the lioness counts as a lady, you can ask for her opinion as well." Catherine was drawing Ace's attention on the full gauge. "Aya, steps to make out. You fell into a spider web, Catherine said." The tall man transferred the message flatly. "Cat seems to be an experienced lady, of tricks and skills a lady would use." He explained. < That's rude, Ace! I'm just penetrative and shrewd, but I still love you.> Even though the tone feigned dissatisfaction, it was just the opposite. "Let me see how powerful a Moon's defense is, Dawson. I'm using my charge." As soon as he finished, he swung the scythe out like playing with a giant toy boomerang. It aimed at his shield and both parties had no intention to harm the cute shaggy man. HP: 40/40 DMG: [12 - 2 Defended], so 10 Charge: 3/3 BCT2 used

< Oh yes, I like this one. >Dawson chuckled again, but it was still surreal to hear: the right to reject them. It wasn't that it hadn't happened to him before Deus, but he'd never had to deal with someone of Maebe's caliber in that way. A spider's web, Ace called it. A tremendous mistake, Mimsy had called it. He didn't know what to think. "Eh, erryone makes it sound complicated, but I don' think so," he said with a shrug. At least Ace was nice enough to call his attack before it happened, though even so he still couldn't handle a swinging scythe. The shield was nearly knocked out of his grasp as they collided, and he grimaced and nearly bit his tongue as his arm was thrown back along with the rest of him. To his credit he didn't fall over, at least, but he had to switch his weapon to the other arm. "Not s'good as it should've been," he grumbled at himself. But to his opponent, he gave a shaky thumbs up. "Nice one, pal! Let's see how ya do while I'm swingin' at ya." It was an easy start: Dawson wasn't used to using his left arm to swing and it showed. hp: 22 damage: 1 charge: 3/3

Ace won't inform the Moon bear if they were doing actually spar fight. However, since they agreed in advance that it was just a practice and the kind man was helping the Sun to familiar what it's like to have attacks blocked and how he should react, the tall man felt the need. "That's because you have a pure soul and a precious heart, Dawson. If it sounds too complicated, then leave it. On the island, you will have a lot of chance to learn and experience. Some people are selfish and will use you as a tool, it would be sad to see people like you being hurt. So please choose wisely." Word stopped. "Hey, you did well too pal. So far no one can take that without flying." He returned the thumb up with a bright beam. "Now's you and Syn's turn, I think the lioness is eager to show her pride, right Syn?" I am ready~" The man used both hands to hold the scythe, long legs spread wide for a stable posture. One hand holding the shaft gestured with a finger moving, "Go for me, pal~" It was a bit of siren luring, or like a cat purred in confident. HP: 40/40 DMG: 1 Charge: 1/3

He smiled a little at the compliments; that was the sort of stuff his momma might have said. "I can hold my own, no worries. But thanks, man," he replied. "I'm gonna try."
His next swing, however? Worse than the last. Dawson grunted as he tried to get used to compensating for the extra weight in a way he didn't usually.
"Hell, m'surprised I didn't! Guess it's all a'this." Grinning, he slapped his gut. "What kinda creature's Catherine?"

"Do you need a break?" After the question, Ace paused for a while, he was holding the scythe but doing nothing. "Oh Catherine said she's a king of ghost, a haunt that takes the form of a doll. Hmm - like Annabelle in the scary movies? Oh-hey-okay-I know." The man mumbled to himself. "She said she's much more prettier than that, as gorgeous as the ball-jointed dolls." < I will let him see my beauty next time.> "Do you wanna talk to her if I've the chance to put her into a golem?" < Says yes, cute goofy man.> The scythe pushed again the shield, but not leaving. Their distance were as close as when friends sat next to each other and had a small talk. There, Dawson could look at the tall Sun more clearly, his hetero-chromatic eyes, the dyed hair as well as the meticulous make-up on his face. HP: 40/40 DMG: 2 Charge: 2/3
