Eleon had told him the best way to get better was to keep moving. Serr was trying, really he was, but his idea of moving was clearly not the same as the healer's. He couldn't climb, he couldn't run, even hanging upside down from the icebox tore at the stitches in his side with more force than he was comfortable with. For the past two days his exercise had consisted of sneaking out of the back of his aunt's bakery, strolling his way across town, and sitting on a tree stump outside the hovel the little apothecary inside called her shop. Sneaking, strolling, and sitting. He'd be healed in no time.

The thought made Serr chuckle inadvertently into the collar of his furry cloak. Gently shaken from his own inner musings, the Leaf lad glanced around to see if anyone was paying him any unwanted attention.

Ahhh, the Tale. It wasn't so nice in the middle of it, but in the settlements, Nuawahn loved it. He skipped through the tree clusters of the settlement, humming a happy tune – today was a good day, and he was glad.

He had no idea where he had come from – other than that he was wind and thus from Sauti – or where he was going, though from his supplies he thought he might just be going south. The extra-large canteen certainly hinted at Oba, anyway. That would be interesting, wouldn't it? He didn't actually know if that was where he was going when he bought the supplies, but the more he thought about it, the more he wanted to go, just to go.

Besides, the fire tribe couldn't all be bad people, could they? Nuawahn did not believe so.

And so, carefree as only someone who doesn't remember their past could be, Nuawahn was skipping past the array of stumps when he heard a chuckle. He stopped, peering around until he saw the leaf man.

”Hiiii!” he chirped, bounding over, ”What's funny? Let me in on it, so I can laugh too!”

Serr was used to being the oddest person in the room. Or... forest. Not that he saw himself that way, he just rarely came across a situation or entity that he didn't process as something other than normal these days. Subject to scrutiny and examination, of course, but still disappointingly average. This young man and the way he crowded and smiled and questioned, was not. Serr couldn't help wondering if he was being watched.

"I... um..." He stood slowly, keeping his eyes on the oddly colored Wind. "I don't know." Which was the truth. "I was thinking about how a healer told me I'd have to move to get better, but I can't." He didn't even think he could skip around right now, had he wanted to. "I guess that's not that funny."

”That is funny!” said Nuawahn, thinking a little ”If you can't do the one without the other, how do you do either?” As a healer himself, he knew that it was true – things didn't grow back right if they weren't used. So, if you hurt a moving thing, you'd have to move to make it better! It just made sense.

But if the boy couldn't move until he got better, but needed to move to get better... That was a conundrum! And funny, indeed! Nuawahn giggled. ” But you are moving now, though!” he said cheerily, ”So you'll get better really soon, I bet!”

"Yes." He canted his head ever so slightly, still marveling at the other boy's strange demeanor. "I'm moving, but not as much as I want to." He wanted to run and hide like he had done before, and though he usually had it in him to wait for many things, today he was feeling impatient.

"Where did you come from?" Serr liked to think he knew his town, but he had never seen this kid before. "Are you just... skipping?"

Holy crap. March?!

Nuawahn frowned, tilting his head – or, rather, his entire upper body. Where had he come from, anyway? Finally, he shrugged, laughing. He didn't know. ”Yep! Just skipping here, skipping there...” he proceeded to demonstrate, again, by skipping around the Leaf boy.

”Moving at all is a great start! Some people can't move at all...” Nuawahn stopped skipping, struck by what he had just said, ”It must be so sad to be them...” he gave them a moment of grief before his mood returned to his usual, baseline 'sunny'. ”But you can move a little, and I can move a lot, so that's good!” he giggled, ”It's good, isn't it? I can move a little for you, too!” He went over, still skipping and touched the boy gently on the shoulder. ”See? I move enough for both of us, don't I?” he laughed again. ”Isn't that nice?”

"Yeah. Nice," he said, turning to watch the Wind circle him and touch his shoulder. The other young man's assessment of the whole movement thing made the hairs on the back of Serr's neck stand on end. Right now, he was very confident that everything would be all right. He had been assured that he would recover from this and be just as he once was. But things could have turned out very differently. Had Jyn stabbed him a little lower or higher, he might have been incapacitated forever. Serr swallowed. That hadn't happened. He would have to make sure that it never did.

He cleared his throat, coughing slightly in an unconscious attempt to rid himself of the lingering feeling of the other's touch. "So... there. Where is there? Where are you going? And what's your name?"

”I don't know, and I don't know!” Nuawahn laughed, though even he knew that was no laughing matter, really, to forget where you came from or where you were headed. It happened so often for him that Nuawahn had just decided that he would keep walking in whatever direction forward was in, and it was probably mere luck that kept him from walking in circles... well... small circles. He travelled from Sauti and Zena to Jahuar and the Tale regularly, and that was really just a big circle, all told. But he always got somewhere.

”But my name's Nuawahn! What's yours?”
