Failyn's wounds were improving slightly, but the quietness of her room, made her despair being there in the first place. Lucky for her at least, her parents had been gone for two weeks, starting when she had been taken.
At the same time, It was hurtful and sad to think that they didn't even try to check in with her for the first week. Perhaps she was just to self sufficent for them to care.
Magiore couldn't come over today and though she desperately ached for the comfort of his company, and the tender care he gave her, she would not risk his identity again.
Her fingers slowly made it's way to the cellphone and she hesitated. She had never called Chariklo without being in senshi form, but the woman had give her number, her civilian number to Mintaka in case of emergency...it was no emergency but Failyn needed the comfort of the closest thing she had to a sister.
She pressed the dial button on the phone and waited....

The sharp and sudden ring of the phone she carried around solely when powered up startled Chariklo out of her doze and she scrambled for the cell. She'd paid another visit to the little rooftop garden where she'd talked to Ida not so long ago. Fumbling the phone open, she thumbed the answer button and spoke a little warily.
"Hello?"
Who all had this number? Ava for when she wasn't powered up and needed something, Mintaka, maybe Quinn. Chariklo wasn't entirely certain since she usually relied on her compact when she needed to talk to anyone.
Her phone didn't even give her a clue. It simply flashed 'Unknown Caller'.
"Hello? Who is this, please?"

"Oh...Um...Sorry..." She started, wondering if she should just play it off like it was a wrong number. But she couldn't and she was hurt and tired and wanted someone to talk to.
"This is Failyn...Uh sorry, I guess you know me as Mintaka? This is Chariklo right?" Maybe she got the wrong number....
"Sorry if this isn't...uh Chariklo...."

The hesitancy in the answering voice was familiar, but something was off. Chariklo closed her eyes to better concentrate and pressed the edge of the phone more firmly against her ear.
A sudden burst of squealing static caused her to jerk the phone away all whilst cursing up a storm. Friggin' crazy a** signals! Still grumbling, she brought the phone back just in time to hear 'Mintaka' and nearly dropped the phone again in shock. Sure, she'd given Mintaka thee number, but she honestly hadn't expected her to use it. Ida had declined the number so graciously that she'd simply assumed that sharing numbers between factions was generally frowned upon.
"Mintaka? No, no wait. It's me. I mean, I'm Chariklo. I mean... oh ******** my life, you know what I mean. My phone doesn't show numbers and your voice sounded off. Are you okay?"
She had confused memories of a future Mintaka. Where other people stood out so clearly, Mintaka seemed strangely blurry. Almost shrouded in mist. It was decidedly unsettling. Shaking her head to try and clear it of confusion, Chariklo closed her eyes again and took a deep breath.
"Okay, Princess Fancyface, what's going on?" Pixie Nyxie Gonna play this so that Chari didn't hear her real name since cross faction reveals aren't technically supposed to happen without GM approval. XD ♥

"Oh, yes okay!" Failyn breathed out and then in, "I'm not okay." She sniffled, "I'm not okay and I need a friend. I'm stuck in the hospital but...but I think I can get out. Can we meet somewhere?"
She breathed in again as another sniffle escaped, "I was...the negaverse they..."
She coughed a little, clearing the tears.
"The negaverse, they had me....for a week...I just need, I need my friend okay? I'm...." She grew quieter, "I'm scared and alone, and I hate it. but...I just need to talk...I can meet you...Is that okay?"

Reeling if as she'd just been kicked in the stomach, Chariklo had to close her eyes for a moment. The Negaverse had had Mintaka and she hadn't known. Hadn't even wondered. Swallowing back the lump of guilt in her throat, Chariklo's voice was gentle as she answered.
"I can give you all the time you need, honey. Do you know where the rooftop community garden is? Or is that too far? I can meet you on the hospital rooftops maybe?"
Not that she liked the thought of the hospital rooftops, but depending on how badly Mintaka was hurt, they made the most sense.

"The rooftop...community garden, I can go there." Failyn pushed herself off the bed, stumbled. Through the phone, Chariklo could probably here the pan and metal clambering down. Then static as the phone clicked off.
In her senshi form, Mintaka escaped the hosipital window, bandages still tightly wrapped, and her body weak. the trip there nearly caused her to falter, but once she hit the grass of the garden, she collapsed on it.
"I made it...Chariklo." Mintaka ran her hands through the grass, and managed to get a couple more cries out.

Wincing at the background clatter, Chariklo flip her phone shut and stood up to pace. She owed Mintaka a huge apology for not even realizing she'd been taken. For not finding a way to be there to help her.
After what felt like ages of fretful pacing, she felt an aura nearby and let out a sympathetic yelp as Mintaka appeared and collapsed on the grass. Rushing over, Chariklo fell to her knees beside the other girl and reached out to gently cradle her close.
"Jesus ********, princess, I'm sorry. If I'd known how beat up you were I would have figured out someplace closer."
Reaching for her overlay, she tore a strip away and used it to gently and tenderly dab at Mintaka's face. She'd had a chance to heal some, but the evidence of what had been done to her was still visible enough and for a moment, Chariklo wanted nothing more in life than to track down exactly who'd left which scar and beat them to a bloody and bubbling pulp. ******** monsters, all of them.
"It's okay, honey, I'm here," she murmured softly. "I'll look after you until it's time to head back to the hospital."

"Hey there heathen..." Mintaka said it weakly, breathing through shortened breaths, but her arms came up to rest on the dark mirrors affectionately as she could. If she remembered hard enough, she could recall the closeness of the seagull senshi of the future, with the one here now.
It was hard not to ease right into it like she had with Tantalus and Amytis.
"Sorry....I don't have tea...to offer." She sighed as pain racked her from moving. "They told me I couldn't leave the room..but...but my family..." They didn't care, weren't there, far away. She needed someone.
"My family has been gone for a couple of weeks..so..." It was well planned abduction for the negaverse for sure.
"Have you seen them tonight?...the negaverse?" Mintaka's eyes widen as she looked around, searching for any sort of aura. "Jet...or Aquamarine...are they out? Don't...Don't let them find me again...."

Gently smoothing Mintaka's hair from her face, Chariklo simply made soothing noises as she held tightly onto her friend and listened. It hurt to hear the other girl speak of her family not being around, but Chariklo could well understand that one. And in one bright burst of remorse, she regretted the actions she'd taken in murdering her parents in order to remain in Destiny City. But at the time, it truly had been the only way.
Still.
"You got more than one family, babygirl," she murmured instead. "You're my friend and sister and I won't let you forget it."
Carefully kissing the top of Mintaka's head, Chariklo felt a slow burning rage inside as she took in the half healed bruises and marks of torture. The Negaverse had a great deal to answer for.
And that rage burst into a firestorm of hatred at the fear in Mintaka's voice and eyes. And now... Now, Chariklo had names. Filing them away for later, she did her best to sooth the other girl.
"If they are I haven't seen or felt 'em," she said so matter-of-factly that there could be no doubt that she spoke truly. She wasn't going to lie to make her friend feel better. "And no worries, darlin' dear. If I have any say in matters, those ******** will never touch you again. I'll do my best to keep you safe."
Privately, Chariklo thought that if the gods really wanted to make her life better, they'd serve up the two named officers to her to let her give them back what they'd dished out. But there was no need for Mintaka to know just how bloodthirsty her thoughts were.
"At least it looks like those docs are taking decent care of you. You'll heal physically, but I want to make sure about emotional and mental. You're gonna find a therapist to talk to, right?"
Something in her tone suggested that if she didn't, Chariklo would.

Mintaka didn't know how else to hold on to Chariklo then to really hold on. Out of all the Dark Mirrors, Chariklo had been the one there for her. Even in the future, even in now. They were her family really. More then anyone's in the world.
"They were so cruel. Usually...Usually the ones I meet, they are okay? They just wanna talk, or they don't mind me at all. But...But Jet. He was so angry. And all he wanted....He wanted to take my starseed....So he could get a promotion." She racked a sob. "I was just a stepping stool for him or something, I wasn't even treated like a human and they kept asking for answers I didn't have, and beating me. I don't understand."
She quieted down, "How could they be so cruel....."
She shook her head, "I don't want to talk to anyone I don't know. How can I tell them...I'm a superhero at night and I got caught by the bad guys and now I'm emotionally damaged." Mintaka laughed sadly, "I'll be in the stretcher to the asylum."

Taking a deep breath, Chariklo throttled down the desire to start shaking Mintaka for being so naive. Just because a few officers weren't total dicks didn't mean they were all like that. Instead of lecturing, she closed her eyes for a moment and gave the other girl's shoulder a squeeze.
"Sweetheart, you know that not every senshi like you is willing to talk to or be decent to senshi like me. Just like how I'm not all daisies and sunshine dust to everyone I meet. So why does it surprise you to learn that there are some in the Negaverse who enjoy being monsters?"
Gently, she brushed her hand against Mintaka's cheek and kissed her forehead.
"Princess, you've had an incredibly lucky life and I wouldn't be surprised if your parents did their best to shelter you from a lot of the uglier stuff. It hurts to find out that there will be people who hate you for being what you are. And it hurts to learn that some of those people will enjoy making you hurt more. It's terrifying, right? Hell, it happens all the time to people without being a matter of some weird a** old war. Look at all the hate crimes that happen just because someone's skin has more melatonin or because a dude prefers to make kisses with other dudes or whatever."
Sighing a little, Chariklo hugged the other girl close. Despite her best efforts at not lecturing, it looked like a lecture had slipped in there anyway.
"Baby, I love you and I'm sorry for sitting here and lecturing you. But this Jet dude was so cruel because that's just how some people are. Some people just don't see certain groups as humans or even particularly cute and intelligent animals. It's the nature of hate. It doesn't have to make sense."
She stopped to listen to Mintaka's reasons to avoid a therapist and snorted a little. On one hand, it was a logical enough argument. On the other hand, it wouldn't do her any good to not talk about it to someone who could help.
"So don't tell 'em that part. Sweetheart, think a minute. That kidnapping was all over the news thanks to the civilians at that party. Enough of them saw people being snatched in the chaos and fighting before they passed out. You don't have to cop to being a magical warrior chick. You don't even have to admit you were at the party. People get kidnapped and hurt all the time. Regular people. I mean, those ladies who were all over the news not that long ago who were snatched and kept prisoner for all those years by that creep-a** before they managed to escape."
It was safe enough now to venture a tiny, sympathetic smile. And a gentle nose-beep as well.
"You don't have to tell them anything beyond that you were kidnapped and roughed up really bad and it was terrifying. For that matter, there might be a senshi or knight whose day job is to sit and listen to people. Why not ask around about that? Sorry Princess," she said before giving Mintaka's nose another gentle poke. "this is something that I'm going to insist on. I love you and I want you to be able to heal on the inside as well as the outside. You need to find someone who specializes in this kind of trauma to talk to. Friends and family are great, but well, speaking purely for myself, I would have no idea what to do or say for you if you started to develop PTSD, y'know?"
Enough, she scolded herself. It was time to shut up and just be there for her friend. She'd had her say and given her opinion. Now it was time to just... be a friend.

"I was hoping, I thought, some of them are just misguided, it doesn't always have to end violently? It doesn't always have to end in pain." She thought of Auro, who had tried to help her. Misguided in their mission, perhaps arrogant.
"It's scary, It was so scary." She had never seen so much hate on someone's face for her, for her simply existing. She had never felt so much...remorse. It...
"I just..." She wasn't sure, was she, could she talk to someone? Would anyone listen? She could go, vent.
"I love you too..." She looked down sadly, listening as Chari very much big sister'd her. She liked it, and it was more comforting to have then no one at her home for her. "And I understand. I will find someone."
She paused...
"Were the others...how many others were there?"

Hiding her relief under a grin and hair tousle, Chariklo felt the muscles in her shoulders relax slightly as Mintaka agreed to find someone to talk to. It would take time, but she'd be all right in the long run.
"Good girl. And I'll bet is was scary," she continued, genuine sympathy coloring her voice. "I know I didn't see everything when I ran in with the others to try and rescue folks, but I saw enough to give me nightmares for at least a year."
She paused and flinched visibly when Mintaka asked her about the others. She took a moment to think before answering slowly.
"Honey, I don't know exactly how many were taken. Just based on the little I saw and heard, I'd have to guess between five to a dozen. I only managed to help get one person out and that was with a fair amount of help. Those assholes put up a hell of a fight to keep hold of who they'd taken. And I'll tell you one thing," she added, her face grim and shadowed with hatred. "I am going to find a way to hunt them down and kill them for what they did to you and Hver and Pisces. Some of them might be peaceful and just misguided, but the ones in charge of what you went through clearly are not. They're ******** rabid animals. And animals like that need to be put down."
Feeling herself tense and shake with pent up emotion, Chariklo forced herself to stretch and stay calm. Getting wild and rant-y would not help Mintaka right now. Closing her eyes, she tightened her grip on her friend for a moment before giving the other girl's pale hair a gentle tug.
"Sorry. I guess I'm still kicking myself for not realizing they'd grabbed you too. I... I don't deal well with peopel I care about getting hurt."
It wasn't the best or brightest of apologies, but she had a feeling that Mintaka would understand.

"Five to a dozen..." Mintaka couldn't remember all the screams, or the signatures of energy. But it was terrible, the way they replayed in her head.
"Hver and Pisces..." Names she didn't know. Names she didn't want to feel sympathy for. She didn't want to feel anything more.
"O...okay..." It was the only response she could say, she had nothing left to defend them for. "Aurostibite, please. Not him..." She said weakly, "If you see him, tell him to run..."
She rested her chin on Chari's shoulder.
"Don't....no. We can't live in the past like that. I'll be okay, I got to see you again." Mintaka sighed, "I will be okay." And Mintaka did understand, she could never hold something like that against Chari.
"I should...go back...."
