Rallie stared at his reflection in the surface of the lake. He was not usually a vain soquili, but he had cause to admire himself now. He had a brand new set of armor, never before worn by another soquili. The dwarf soquili and their familiars had forged it, paid for by the khaleesi. Rallie had never before owned or worn anything so fine, and his heart swelled to feel its cold pressure against him. He was proud of it, for it bore testament to his efforts in battle in protecting the herd.
He pulled himself away from the lake and ran himself in a quick trot around a lone tree. The armor clinked as he moved, and it did impede his actions somewhat. It was much better to learn the limitations of his armor now rather than in battle, so he tested twisting and jumping, prancing and kicking. Some things he could do just as easily as before, but some things were more difficult.

Alaina walked up to see Rallie obviously practicing. She too was a member of the khalasar, but had received no armor herself. This didn't bother her. Her skill was in speed rather than force. Armor would just slow her down, and she enjoyed the wind on her back too much to cover herself.
"Hello, Rallie," she said in pleasant greeting.

"Hello, Alaina!" Rallie stopped his practicing to trot on over to his herdmate. He had respected Alaina since joining the herd. She was as fast as the wind and gave off the air of being as free as the wind as well. Her markings were very mysterious to him, her legs covered in geometric patterns that danced around each other. He was never unhappy to be interrupted by her visits.
"Any news?" he asked. "Has it been decided yet how much longer we'll be staying here?" He expected that the herd would be moving out soon. All of the armor had been completed, now it was just a matter of getting everyone moving.
