It had been some time since Loren had had time to leave the tiny order he had founded - certain that the fledgeling knights and their families that lived there could survive without him for a few days. He pumped his great wings harder as he rode the breeze that came off the ocean which was not so far away now. He recalled as a foal he enjoyed going to the great water and challenging the waves to a duel as they were rudely lapping at his little hooves. He chuckled roughly at the memory, his scarred visage wrinkling with the ghost of a smile. His armor and leathers creaked and clanked as he soared towards the sandstone cliffs that surrounded the beach he was traveling to, his braided tresses whipping behind him - the ocean and the land surrounding it always seemed to bring his old mind some peace in times of great stress.
Recently a sister angeni had come to him requesting that he take on a squire, which he hadn't done in a very very long time. It was his call to be a teacher, it was in his domain to help those of chivalrous natures into knighthood - but he always fought against the idea that those knights he trained and had grown fond of in his own way would go galloping off to glory only to die in battle - he had consoled many a widow and lonely foal - too many. So now he was a hardened old knight with the humorous nickname of "old goat." He snorted and tucked his wings in as he neared the cliffs, gliding down and landing on the cliffs with a mighty thud, his iron shod hooves turning up chunks of sand and shell as he skin to a halt. He shook himself, tucking his wings sharply to his sides as he strode towards the edge of the cliffs to look over the ocean, his ears pricked forward to listen to the ebb and flow of the water over the sand.
Peaceful.
He closed his eyes, which mirrored the blue of the waters before him, content to just listen and think.
