Deciding to give his family a break...and needing his joint back the large wingless lion had gone off on his own with thoughts buzzing through his head. It hadn't been until he'd admitted it to Keme that he'd actually sorta accepted the idea of liking other males. That thought had been avoided for years, after all he'd liked girls...right? Not in that way...A sigh escaped his maw, ears pressed to his mane. "********' damnit." Finally reaching a river he'd sit with a soft thud, paws dipping into cool water needing to chill out after that.

Sterling plunged through the trees and bushes chasing a rabbit. His lunch would not get away this time! He refused to give up eating the juicy little critter simply because he had a hard time killing such a cute being. The rabbit darted away just out of his reach and Sterling swore, but he continued to chase and thought he had it this time. The rabbit must have found a burst of energy as it leaped quite a few feet away, and toward a bush. Sterling reached out to snatch it up from inside the bush, but he over did it, and skidded into the bush instead. He didn't stop on solid ground; Sterling found himself taking a plunge into a body of cold water with a loud splash.

Ahote thought he'd heard someone swear but soon pushed it from his mind. That is, until a big flash of pink splashed headlong into the river just a few feet away...water drenching him as well as his pot. Oh HELL no! Not his blunt! Getting up he'd had a flurry of swears ready...that is until bright green eyes fell on the other...rather...hunky male right th..No snap out of it! "Hey..dude! Y...you ok?!" Hiding sudden shyness he'd leap in and aim to help the other lion, a blush tinting purple fur red as his paws found the other lion's middle. He...sure felt...strong and...Pink?! "Oh hell...er...uh!"
Huffing he'd help get the other to land, unwittingly looking him over shyly yet intently.

He heard someone above him as he was still in shock from falling into the lake. Sterling felt a pair of strong paws and arms pull him up and out of the water. He was shaking from the sudden cold, and as he locked his blue gaze with that of his rescuer, Sterling saw that he had gotten the other lion wet. "Oh... I uh," he wasn't sure what to say at first as he got to land. The lion was wingless, and yet he looked lean and strong, "I'm good," Sterling managed between chattering teeth. "Th...thank you," he saw the blush on the male and he found himself staring, his eyes roaming the other lion. Agh! He was doing it again. It wasn't right, although it felt right to Sterling. But his mom... wanted him to find a nice lioness... Sterling ignored his thoughts of his mom, and instead listened to himself. He tried not to blush, but his cheeks turned a pink color. "I owe you, and I'm sorry for splashing you." He felt stiff and awkward as he felt an attraction to his rescuer.

Ahote had no real intention of admitting anything, but seeing the other male blush only made him blush more than ever especially as eyes roamed over his wingless frame. "Uh...yeah..Well you did ruin my blunt but I uh...I can...get another somehow.." He'd been born with that thing so it might be harder than that...his birth mom probably had a stash he could borrow from, after all she'd taught him to smoke it. "So uh you're ha...here now. You're shivering dude...Let's get you somewhere warmer." Still holding him by the leg he starts moving toward a warm sunny rock, head bowed in humiliation. Had he really almost blurted that?!

Sterling smiled awkwardly and followed the lion. "I can... uh... come with you if you'd like. It's the least I can do since I did ruin it," he didn't know what a blunt was, but he didn't care. He felt bad about ruining it, and wanted to repay his rescuer. Not only that, Sterling wanted to spend more time with this wingless lion. "So, what's your name?" he asked climbing onto the warm sunny rock. Sterling thought the lion was going to say something else earlier, but let it go not wanting to make their meeting any more awkward than it was. Though, he liked this lion holding onto his leg.

Ahote figured by now his leg holding was awkward, but the other male didn't seem to mind so he just kept his grip there. Following to the rock he finally hesitantly lets go so the pink male could rest and dry off, ears lowered. "Oh uh...yeah...Yeah. You should...come with me I mean. You gotta right..?" Cheeks tinted red now he clears his throat, chuckling. "I uh...I'm Ahote, and I hope it doesn't bug ya that I like pot...n..not that it'd matter...I mean it's...not like you'd stay around a while..." By now he'd swatted himself on the face with a sigh, flustered by himself as he quietly adds. "Unless you...wanted to...So what's your name..?"

Sterling tried hard to feign an air of casualness, but his interest in the purple lion had him acting flustered. "Uh..yes! I'd enjoy that!" He nearly jumped at the opportunity, then cleared his throat and gave a more calm answer with cheeks now pink. "Of course I do. I owe you one, Ahote! You saved me, bud," the word bud sounded wrong. Sterling was going to say mate, hearing other males use it, but he was afraid he would say it in the wrong tone and scare his friend away. "I'm Sterling, and pot doesn't bother me. I've only heard about it and I did not know what forms it came in until now. So, how do you make this blunt?" he asked making conversation, though he was genuinely curious. He couldn't help but to appreciate Ahote's lean, muscled form and tried to sneakily stare once in a while as he dried off on the warm rock.

Though trying to avoid staring Ahote noticed or rather -felt- eyes on him, though if that was real or just his imagination he couldn't tell. Suddenly he felt the need to lay on his stomach, face reddening. "Oh...I'm...not sure actually. I got it from my birth mom. I'll probably just go get another from her old stash..." Shifting closer while pretending to itch his stomach with grass he -accidentally- brushes purple fur against light grey-blue and pink. Was this really happening? A...handsome male right here beside him seeming to not mind his close proximity..? Most would shove him away or call him an unwanted slur. This guy though, this Sterling sure is..."..Handsome.." Bright eyes fly open as he tenses. Did he say that out loud..?! Slowly, nervously he'd peek up at Sterling, waiting for a yell or an attack now. "D...dude uh...Please don't hurt me...I...uh...I swear it's...I mean..." Swallowing hard the fur on the back of his neck bristles, muscle tensed ready to leap away.

"Well, maybe it'd be cool to learn?" Sterling asked glancing up at the clear sky, then back at Ahote. He knew what his mom expected, or at least, what she said about him having a family of his own. If only he had the nerve to tell his parents... Sterling cleared his thoughts and smiled. He felt comfortable with this lion, and didn't feel like he was lying to himself or to anyone else. "That way you can have your own stash," Sterling chuckled and felt purple fur brush against his own. Butterflies fluttered in his stomach at the contact, and he wanted to scoot even closer. So, he did as he pretended that his back leg bothered him, and he pushed himself closer, and his shoulder brushed Ahote's. "Why...? Why would I hurt you?" Sterling looked at Ahote confused, and it dawned on him. Ahote said Sterling was handsome, and his cheeks reddened at this point. "I...uh... I won't hurt you... I was... I do... You're pretty gorgeous yourself... I umm... like you... like... I like males," Sterling looked at Ahote with knowing eyes, then looked around them, feeling awkward admitting what he just had.

Listening shyly Ahote awaits being yelled at, head down as he mutters a reply. "Yeah...I...I'll just learn how to make em. Good idea." As he feels Sterling's shoulder press up against his own the purple lion can only swallow hard and hope his fur color hides the ever darkening blush spreading across his maw like wildfire. Everything changed though, the moment he heard that last comment, bright green eyes gazing at blue ones intently. "R...really..? I do too...I...I mean...I like...males...too..." A little feminine gasp can be heard as he's complimented. "Eheheh...g...gorgeous..? Well ********> Unsure of what else to say he shyly dares to give Sterling's cheek a little lick then a nuzzle to his chin. "...I like you too...W...what's your name?"

Sterling felt his stomach flip flop and he was ready to run, his ears down, in case he had taken the other male's blush and words the wrong way. He was paying attention to Ahote's body language, and he thought the other lion may have been similar in likes of the same sex. "Oh..." His ears perked up at Ahote's words, and noted there was no hostility. "It's Sterling," he smiled and sat up a little straighter. "I haven't met another lion who likes males before... I've always been afraid to say something," he stared at Ahote, his blue gaze meeting his friend's grass green gaze. Sterling nuzzled Ahote's chin in return, "So uh....What do you like to do, Ahote?" he asked unsure of what to say.

Ahote heard the name and couldn't help but grin broadly, face a deeper hue. "The uh...the name...suits you. Heheh..." The wingless male had never watched himself in how he handled coming across to others, his feminine air lost on his own mind. Still it was lost on him, even now as he sat up with a bit of a flair. Those words rang true, of being afraid to share these thoughts.."I know...I don't think I've met any other male like you or me...is it like...super rare? I've met lesbians before.." With a shrug he'd scooch closer, suddenly more brave now that they'd both opened up about this. "Well I visited my family again and my dad that I guess attacked my half sister is back but everyone is forgiving him...I typically don't get much to do. Wingless lions aren't well liked or respected. What about you? Any adventures?" Trying to lighten the mood he brushes his tail over Sterlings, giggling.

Sterling studied Ahote and noticed his blush, and felt his cheeks continue to warm in response. Dang it, he just couldn't stop himself from blushing and he knew his cheeks must look like fire engine red apples at this point. As he watched Ahote, Sterling was mesmerized by his purple friend's feminine flair and found himself lost in Ahote's green eyes. "Thank you, I uh... My mom thought the name Silver was too boring," he chuckled and leaned in closer to Ahote. "I think... since us males are suppose to be the protectors and providers of a family, that holds back the males like us... I think they're afraid to admit they like males as mates," Sterling tried to make it sound believable. He didn't know what else would hold someone back besides fear. He let the worry melt away, as he grew more comfortable with Ahote and enjoyed his warm company. "Oh? I wonder what would have caused such a tragedy. Hopefully everything will turn out for the best," he smiled and felt Ahote's tail brush over his. The smile widened to a grin and he twined his tail lightly around Ahote's. "I have never met a wingless lion, and I think you're stronger for it. You have more muscle in places on your body that winged lions lack," he realized he admitted to observing Ahote more than he led on and blushed. "I uh... I venture out alone so my mom doesn't try to set me up with more girls. I haven't told her I like males," he purred the last sentence and rested his head on Ahote's shoulder. Sterling felt braver and hoped his move wasn't too bold.
