Pharos was wondering, she hadn't patrolled in a while, not for a lack of want or ability, but for a lack of time. Her senior year at HITS hadn't been easy thus far. She went a lot of time doing mounds of homework and now she was going to be sharing her flat with her best friend. He was joining hits for the rest of the senior year and he would be continuing on into an associate degree program where as Pharos was likely to transfer out. She like HITS but technology and science really weren't her thing.
She currently was just wondering down into lower shopping district. All the stores were closed and bundled up tight. It seemed to Pharos the owners were learning what type of city they lived in. Only occasionally did you see one or two not following the lock up tight trend.
She turned looking at one such store that had some hats on display in the window. They looked like hats Willie might like, but she wasn't sure. She looked around to check for the address, so she could come back later, before turning back toward the window pondering over the hats.

Merlinite was allowed out of Painite's sight for now, which was not really a very comforting thought. He wondered if that meant the Nega was doing something particularly terrible, that she did not even want him to see, or if she just did not trust him any more. Maybe she was beginning to notice his hesitance...
It would be a lot of trouble for him, if she did figure that out.
Sighing, he wondered what he could do to take his mind off of things for a while. Feeling an aura nearby, he moved toward it on instinct. It was not a senshi, that he knew, and he realized it was one of those Knights. He didn't really like them, though he supposed he should give them more thought considering if he did ever decide to leave the Negaverse, that was what he would become. But he was not really entertaining those thoughts, and kept his focus on what he knew.
So far, knights has been the biggest pain in the butt for him. They often presented him a lot of challenge and liked to fight.

Pharos was about to move away from the store front when she noticed an aura nearby. She focused for aura for a moment and noted it was a negaverser. She wasn't really up for a fight, but they didn't always want to. Ever since her upgrade she had at least gotten a weapon that was more useful in a fight which she was grateful for, but that didn't mean she really wanted to. She was a defender of justice and of earth though, so she summoned the staff and headed toward the aura as opposed to away from it.
It didn't take long to find him, as he had been moving toward her. "Hello," she said softly with a sweet smile. "I hope you are looking for trouble tonight. I would very much like to avoid injury tonight, but I'm not going to let you hurt anyone."
It was slightly accusatory, but it was the best she could do as far as a meager warning went.

Merlinite was not sure what he was looking for.
"What if I was looking for trouble? Are you one of those bratty type knights that like to flex their muscles and compete with us Negaverse soldiers? I keep running into knights that just want to prove how tough they are, so I'm thinking you all have the same complex."
He was talking a lot more than he wanted to, and saying nothing with meaning. Everything felt hollow to him, when he was so distracted by thoughts of Painite and Navi, and everything else he suddenly found himself involved in.
The worst part about all of this was his confusion. Was he doing the right thing? What was the right thing? Why did he have more friends that were senshi than negas?
"You just worried about your own skin, or mine? You guys are all the same. You don't care about anything but being able to say you stopped a bad guy."

Pharos sort of just looked at him when he posed the question he possed. No matter her magic status without much physical training the tiny squire wasn't flexing anything. "If your looking for trouble that its my job to keep safe anyone you might hurt. I mean I don't know about a complex, but I would very much like not to see civilians be drained of energy for what? Or a comrades starseed being pulled from their body?"
Pharos released her weapon and put her hands on her hips looking at him with what she hoped was a serious face. "Saying you stopped a bad guy is not what matters, it stopping the bad guy that matter. Of course I want my self to stay safe, but wouldn't running and letting you do whatever make that a little easier."
Pharos smiled, "have you ever asked anyone why they really do this? I mean yes we want to protect people, or I do, but its more than that. I do it so my mom will never have to meet a youma. I do it for Pharos, my wonder, my home away from home. And I do it for my ancestor before me, who seems proud. as far as I can tell."
She gave him a very curious look and asked tentatively looking curiously, "what about you?"

Merlinite shoved his hands in his pockets, shaking his head and shrugging his shoulders as indifferently as he could, though it was clear he was deeply troubled and unsettled. Whatever it was that was on his mind, it was weighing heavily on him. Of course, he knew full well what the real problem was.
He just did not want to face it.
"Yeah yeah, same lecture every time. But we do what we have to do for a reason, too, you know. To use, you guys are the badguys. I mean. For the most part." Except Painite had no reason to do what she did, except that she loved to do it. Hurt others, kill others. She did it without thought or reason, or simply because she hated them.
She was definitely evil.
"I don't care why you guys do whatever it is you think you do. Why you do it. I do what I'm told because that's what soldiers do. And I hate doubting what I'm doing. Ever since I started talking to you lot, to the White Moon, I can't figure out what I'm doing. That's ridiculous, because I get direct orders telling me what to do."
He growled, looking irritated and very frustrated.

Pharos looked slightly confused, social cues weren't exactly her strong point, but she could tell something was wrong here even before he started to talk. She listened and after a moment she just smiled, which morphed into a grin.
"Would you go jump off a brigde just because so and so told you to, or so and so did it?"
She paused briefly not really expecting an answer before continuing in a less teasing tone, " Isn't that what people always say. In your heart, you know when something isn't right or when you don't believe in something. You're a knight, on the inside you know."
That was how it worked right, negaversers purified to knights. She extended a hand to pat his arm, curious eyes smiling slightly. "You just have to trust that you know what is right and what is wrong? War complicates things a little, but you'll work things out."
She looked up at the sky, hands behind her back quiet and contemplative for the moment. "Ever been to space?"

"Depends on who they were, and if they would just make me do it anyway. Or throw me off the bridge themselves, minus a few limbs."
He sighed, letting her talk for a bit. Her words stirred something in him, though, and he looked hesitant. He knew a little about purification, and that knights could be Negas and the other way around. He never looked into it, though, and tried not to think about it too much.
Half of him feared that if he really started to consider it, he would already be a traitor, even if he didn't go for it. The other side of him knew it was too late for that, but he wasn't brave enough to face it.
"Space? No. I mean. Not really. I've never thought about it and I don't know what that... why? Is space where you people go to purify negas?" Okay, so he didn't know enough about purification to really understand how it was done, or what it really meant, but still. He knew the basics.

Pharos shook her head, "thats not good. Hopefully you wouldn't be in a place where someone might make you do something like that. Or hopefully you'd have someone to help you get out of that."
She shook her head at the question, "no I'm pretty sure they can do that anywhere, but I think I've heard it has to be a royal. I'm not sure, but their are a few around. I've only met one princess so far I think."
She gave him a smile, "they could do it in space though. It might be best, they wouldn't be interrupted I suppose. Space is where my wonder is though, the place I am bound to, so to speak, the reason I guess I am a knight. It's up on the surrounding which I think sort of guard the solar system in a way, or it once did. My wonder is a light house. I am told it guided travelers and people could stop there for a bit from all over the galaxy, briefly anyway, the courtyard is doesnt have much in it."
She had a whistful look on her face, "its amazing really. To be connected to something like that. I think the only ones not in space are earth knight wonders, but its the same basic thing I think."
Pharos look at the nega beside her, "Do you want to purify?"
She paused for a moment, "You know its okay if you do, the code says the order in you should always win out over the chaos and every had both. You should try to talk to other knight, they can help you and will try to protect you?"

Merlinite watched Pharos, sighing.
Talking to people like this was dangerous for him. He was scared someone would hear something he was not supposed to be saying, and through that they would tell his superiors. Or worse, they would tell Painite. She was... he could not fathom what she would do to him if she knew he had all these doubts. But now that he had actually said the idea out loud, there was no escaping it.
It settled in his head like a weight, and he felt it heavy through his shoulders and neck.
"I think I do. I don't know. I don't know what that means or if it's any better to be on the White Moon side. Sometimes I think everyone is exactly the same, and it's just trading one evil for a different one. But then again... you guys can't be as bad as... some of our generals."
He sighed heavily, putting his hands on his face and hiding for a moment.

Pharos gave him an excited look and she really wanted to hug and tell him everything would be okay. She had a bouncy sort of energy that screamed excitement. She smiled so wide.
"We would absolutely love to have you. We really aren't bad, I mean I'm sure we have our loose cannons, but this is war and people often do things they wouldnt normally or don't want to. Still we would welcome you and you would be ours and you can learn about your wonder and the past."
She looked him over curiously, "I wonder what you are the knight of, what planet, what you would look like?"
The tiny knight reached up, putting her hand on his shoulder, "You will figure it out and everything will work out fine okay! I can help you find someone to talk to help you. There is a knight in my court, who is pretty amazing. Or maybe you should talk to Camelot, he's the best. If anyone can help, I bet it would be him."

Merlinite nodded his head, though he was still not sold on the idea.
Still, going to Camelot and seeing what he might say seemed like his best option. At least he could learn more about purification from one of the few that could actually do it, as far as he knew. So that was something.
The only kicker was that Camelot was the person Painite hated most above all others, and she hated a lot of people. In spectacular ways. If she ever got the idea that Merlinite went to talk to the Royal Knight, she would make sure they both paid for it. Merlinite most of all, he was sure, for betraying her. She would probably skin him alive and keep him that way for as long as she could, while torturing him.
It was interesting to think he could be a knight, though. And have a planet that wasn't earth, maybe, and the whole dynamic of why he was in this war would shift. It made him feel like the whole reason he was fighting, at least as he understood it, didn't actually make any sense.
"I've heard about Camelot before. I might have to go and find him, when I can, but I'll do it, okay? Just... don't tell anyone yet. I don't want word spreading before I'm ready, you know?"

"Camelot will help you I am sure. In the meantime, your secret is safe with me. I will not tell anyone, I promise." She gave him a earnest smile before bounced slightly happy as a calm.
"I'm Pharos, Squire of Chronos. If you ever need to talk I am happy to listen. I'm not always out at night, but I think most knights should be able to contact me."
She gave a tiny smile, "it's was really nice to meet you, but I ought to get home before my roommate decides to check in on me and find I'm not there. He might freak out a little, since I forgot to mention I was going out and it's late."
"Good luck, your heart knows whats right. Follow it."

Merlinite felt inclined to believe her, though he did not really have a reason to. Just because she was a White Mooner, and they were the 'good' guys. He was starting to believe that more and more, but he could not shake all of his skepticism all at once.
"Merlinite," he said, as she made to leave. He was not sure he wanted to introduce himself, but he figured he might as well, since she offered her name. And hell, maybe if he did need help, she would vouch for him.
Nodding, he watched her as she made to leave, not wanting to keep her long enough to get her in trouble with her roommate. He had his own 'roommate' to get back to, and he knew all too well the fear of being caught out late. Something told him her roommate wouldn't rip her open with a spear or stab her in the neck or something if she was late, though.
But hey, what did he know.
"Have a good night, Pharos... and thanks."
He teleported away after that, embarrassing himself and feeling strained, but a little more cleared than before.
