Horace had heard many tales of a red-maned beast stalking the sparring grounds recently, leaping forward onto poor, unsuspecting people, forcing them into spars... and losing. Mentally, he'd run through his list of red-haired people to see if, somehow, someone got their wires crossed. But everything pointed to Rep going out and sparring. But why. And if it really was true, Horace wanted to watch. It wasn't as though he wanted to see the man laid low (ok, maybe he did, just a bit)... But with the idea of watching in mind, he'd headed out to the sparring grounds, propped himself up against a training dummy, and begun to read. This particular dummy was Higgs-Boson; Horace could tell by the cut he'd scraped along the stubby arm. He flipped a page in his book. If Horace didn't see the other hunter at any point, he'd probably try to go get someone to spar, but for now, the book was actually pretty engrossing, if unbelieveable. After all, who really had a deathly fear of pigeons? At least it meaned the hero could save her... multiple times. Ugh.

Rep was a reminder that if you came looking for spars, those spars might theoretically find you. He was not particularly stealthy, his position in Death division was certainly of no result of cat-like silence and reflexes, but there was at least a certain feline fluidity to his movements. He was an ambush predator and rather than remain hidden till the last moment he was more prone to make enormous impossible leaps.
It was one of these leaps that launched him at the seated form, summoning mid air and slamming the blade into the training dummy by Horace.
"Hi." he said with a toothy grin. "Mandatory ******** spar."

"So you are the beast giving people heart-attacks on the sparring field." He stood and meticulously marked his place in his book before slipping it into his pocket. With a soft flicker, Jannisari appeared on his fists.
He eyed the other man. "You look like s**t."

Horace slipped Jannisari off one of his hands as he stood. He tossed it at Rep and watched it bounce harmlessly off the other man's shoulder. With a dramatic sigh, he desummoned and resummoned the Doctor. "So tell me why you've been jumping all these hunters like you're some kind of sparring boogeyman?" He leaned against the training dummy and crossed his legs. Horace figured that Rep would beat him into an utter pulp, but he might as well get some enjoyment out of it as well. HP: 40/40 DMG: plink

Rep hardly even registered the weapon bounce, fixed as he was on Horace, as always staring much too hard and blinking far too little. "Because I want fear. Simple as." he explained. "And this is the best place to get it."
He swung the axe but went a little wide and off balance, still struggling in getting used to the shift in weight the missing parts had caused.

Rep stumbled and Horace took advantage of that to land a slicing punch to one of the man's arms. It was weird - he didn't remember Rep ever missing before. Horace moved back, warily circling him, certain that any moment now, he'd pull some crazy stunt and Horace would lie bleeding on the ground. And because it was only Rep, he couldn't even make a circle jerk joke.
"Why do you need fear? Are you a junkie? Or Tracey? Hello, by the way, hadn't seen him before." He looked at the weapon and tilted his head. He'd never seen the weapon before, and the size was astounding, although it seemed... glitched. He shrugged. Maybe that was jsut how Tracey looked. "Also, Jordan said Tracey was big, but damn."

Rep's pride did not endure weakness well, and right now he was weak. All he could do to cope with it was to stubbornly ignore it, the way he had all his life. Even as a trainee he'd picked fights with people without regard for their strength or his own, smashing his face against the metaphorical wall until it crumbled and got out of his way.
"I need it because I got ******** over, because not me, not Tracey but something else is hungry." and there was an edge of desperation to his voice, suddenly anxious at the prospect of that looming sky, of the dreams where he ripped the hearts from the chest of his loved ones and clenched in his palms their last beats.
Giving the axe a sidelong look, he raised a brow. "And well he is I guess." he stated, glad of the usual surprise and veiled admiration at the size of his weapon, glad because it meant that Horace might not yet have noticed the many many pitfalls of having a weapon like this one, not least of which had landed him in his present predicament.
He swung again, but once again there was nothing of his former force, the blow off balance and strange, not seeming to connect properly with Horace's shield at all.

"Something else? What else?" Tracey cut at him, but it lacked the power expected of such a large weapon. "Is it Marie?" Horace knew bits and pieces of a full story - predominantly thanks to his fixation with his phone. People gave away all sorts of things on twitter. He read everything, although he wondered if Deus kept logs of all the texts sent. It was likely; not that he'd have access.
But this was still a spar. If he was going to get anything done efficiently Horace needed to be close range. But getting near Tracey was daunting. He was too timid - he darted in to land only one punch before backing away. "This is different - why are you different?"

Rep nodded fleetingly at the mention of Marie but didn't bother going into the details of his affliction, after all even he wasn't sure of what it was that the whip had done to Tracey, still haunted by the memory of the way his partner had twisted and collapsed, forced to desummon before his very eyes. "I'm always different." he said bitterly, twisting away from the punch to twist Tracey into the space where Horace had been.
"I don't know what's ******** wrong with me right? All I know is that I was told I need fear, so fear it is I'll ******** harvest until I get better or die trying."

His lips twisted. "Sometimes, different's just another word for wrong." Tracey slid along his shield, soft, skittering, wrong. Horace didn't like it - it made him feel uneasy.
{listen to yourself, being uneasy over not getting hurt. you know I can see everything you think, horace. there is nothing you can hide from me.} {Doctor...} {yes, even that. especially that.} {This fight is unfair!}
Jannisari was silent and they knew that she had not been talking about this spar at all. So Horace grinned at Rep brightly. Briefly, he debated punching the man. Instead, when he slid close, he merely patted him on one cheek. "Well, I'm always free to be a punching bag."

"Sometimes the guy who is different is the only guy who is right." he smirked. "Because seriously, the human race as a whole likes s**t like X factor and Jersey Shore, sometimes being different is a good ******** thing. I can live with it."
Rep recoiled, physically recoiled from the cheek pat, a flinch of revulsion that was almost startling. He didn't mind being struck but any kind of affection made his skin crawl and made him back up, capable only of reflexively pushing Horace away.
"Don't ******** TOUCH me." he snarled.

Now that was interesting. Even as Rep shoved him away,he followed the man, staying as close as he could. "You afraid I'll get you dirty?" If it were anyone but Rep, he'd respect that revulsion, not push things. Even now, he hesitated. His hand shot out to press against Tracey, pushing him out of the way. Jannisari hissed in his mind, wanting to feel the nature of Rep from the inside out. At the last minute, Horace changed his mind, punching once into Rep's gut and then snapping his elbow up into the other man's chin.

Rep's pulse kicked up and it felt like all the hair on his body stood on end, bristling like a wild animal, almost forfeiting the spar then and there to get out of the way of the contact, the invasion of his personal space. There was an instant when Horace got close to him that he seemed to freeze, expression blank and distant and not resist at all. He didn't do anything to stop the attacks, bending double as one punch nailed his gut only to careen backwards at the crack to his chin.
Only when he was on the ground did he seem to spring back to life, narrowing his eyes at Horace with genuine loathing. "I ******** hate people like you." he hissed.

"People like me?" He watched Rep closely. The blank face, the way he recoiled the first time, the way he hadn't the second - every movement told a story of who Rep was and who he used to be. Unfortunately, it was like reading a story written in some other language that Horace didn't understand.. He could tell there were words, sentences telegraphed in every moment. It made him want to push, to press until everything turned into a language he understood. His eyes glittered behind the red glasses.
Horace felt the grin on his face stretch a little bit. He crowded close to the other man, quickly, efficiently, get in before you could be pushed out. He slid his palm over Rep's bare chest, a quick but unsubtle touch, fingers almost catching in the necklaces. The urge to rip those off rose in him, but he didn't act on it. That same hand caught Rep's arm and twisted around it, trying to pin it to his bad. Jannisari gleamed as she connected with the soft flesh at the bend of his wait, just up under his ribs. Horace liked the closeness of fighting, how it was inevitable that as some point he'd watch his opponent's pulse in a steady beat beat beat in the hollow of their throat.
"Care to elaborate?" He blew a breath into Rep's ear. If he pushed, Rep would push back.

Rep didn't fight back. He didn't do anything, there was an instant where his eyes had gone wide, where he'd tried to step back from the encroaching hunter, where Tracey had been lowered in the instant. The minute Horace was close however, he once again froze up, almost robotic, freezing up as gooseflesh sprawled over his body.
He didn't resist being pinned and twisted, and only stared straight ahead at the words in his ear. His heart hammered in his chest and he seemed to shiver strangely but he didn't fight back. There was no smartass comment, no reply at all, simply a braced teeth-gritted sort of horror. He didn't like it one bit, but he didn't have the ability to argue or to demand that it stop right ******** now.
