Rep had taken to prowling the training fields of late like some sort of restless wild animal. He had bags under his eyes and looked significantly worse for wear than when this fiasco had begun. Even the painkillers did not afford him the kind of sleep he needed and his temper, always sharp and sudden was worse than usual.

The prey he hunted was the unsuspecting and unfamiliar, if he hadn't sparred someone in the last week they were fair game. The figure he was sneaking up behind met both of those fairly lenient criteria.

He leapt, much the same way he'd leapt at Ever a few days before, summoning the massive fractured axe in mid leap. "Think fast!" he barked before slamming it down wide of the mark and bracing himself for another swing.

The training fields had become much like a haunting ground for Tommy, who perhaps spent more time there then he did anywhere else on the island. He enjoyed spending time, not just training himself, but watching others with their various weapons and styles. He liked to see the unique way in which each person moved, the forms they took, the shapes they made with their bodies. It was like art to him, like he was simply perusing through a gallery, taking in the beautiful and the bizarre alike.

Today, however, he was putting himself, and his weapon, to use. Having gotten the hang of the good old aim'n'shoot, he was now working on his own movement and fluidity, on dodging, rolling, on firing off an arrow while on the move. Of course, his opponent was nowhere near so active, the training dummy he was training against not exactly a very lively opponent.

He was just starting to think that maybe he should attempt to find a living person to train with when the voice cut through the air behind him. Startled, he jumped to the side, and turned, eyes wide and blinking, glancing to the side at the axe (that was an axe, right?? holy s**t.) that slammed into the ground just next to where he had been standing a second before.

"Che cazzo.." he hissed from beneath his teeth, his chest rising and falling quickly both from his prior exertion and the surprise he had just experienced.

It was at that moment that he noticed the other man preparing to swing at him a second time (though his eyes were mostly on that axe and not on his apparent opponent just yet).

Tommy raised both gauntlets up in front of himself as if that would somehow stop that ridiculously intimidating looking weapon from pummeling right through him. "Is this the way you say hi?" He asked from behind his pathetic blockade, his Italian accent strong though it seemed that he might actually speak English quite well.

Amazingly enough, his lips were actually quirked up in a small smile, though that was perhaps difficult to see at the moment.

Rep grinned and nodded. "It's one way to do it." He was surprised to hear another accent than American and found himself even more curious about this unfamiliar hunter than he had been. His weapon too was curious, gauntlets and other form fitting weapons of that type a relative rarity on the island, though no less effective for their reliance on their wielder.

Tracey was hauled out of the dirt and hefted over one shoulder, a twisted wreck compared to his usual elegance but no less awkward to wield.

"Real friends say hello by trying to ******** murder one another." he added. "I'm Rep."

He leapt several meters into the air again and brought the axe down with considerable force.

"And this is Tracey."

The other man was an interesting sight to behold, once Tommy was able to tear his eyes away from the rather intimidating weapon he wielded. The brawn, the hair, the glimpse of scars that he could see from around his gauntlets, it all screamed bad a** at him, and perhaps the kind of bad a** that he would best keep on the good side of.

Except for that little comment, which as startling as it was to hear, managed to draw a bark of laughter from Tommy only a moment before he was knocked back several paces, stumbling, with boot toes digging into the ground to gain purchase and keep him from going down entirely.

"This is not such a comforting thing to hear." He managed to straighten, rolling and shrugging his shoulders to shake out the tension of muscles that had braced itself against the impact. "Perhaps I should only make fake friends, as opposed to real ones then." He grinned more, and gave a slight nod of his head. "Thomas, though Tommy is also fine."

Instead of shooting off a bolt from one of the small crossbows mounted on his weapon, Tommy then opted to dart forward, attempting a quick jabbing punch meant to dig claws into his opponent, though it seemed he was not quite quick enough to land the blow.

Rep managed to get wide of the claws but didn't quite have time to edge in another swing. "You'll probably make fake friends on this island without meaning to. There's a whole lot of ******** sociopathic nutballs." And something about the grin said that Rep counted himself amongst that group, and he did, at least as far as public opinion went. "Pleasure to meet you then Tommy."

And it felt good just being cordial for a change, for now there was nothing in the other man he was inclined to insult.

He had a feeling that was how the other man would answer him, and Tommy gave a small shrug of his shoulders while moving forward again, attempting another swing, which again, embarrassingly enough, he had managed to miss. "Ah, nutballs I have had my fair share in dealing with. Sociopaths...not so much. This is quite good to know." And judging by the other man's grin, he wondered if he might have perhaps just met the latter, or perhaps that and the former combined. Still, Tommy could not help but grin in return, though a hard glint in his eye may have given enough hint to prove that it was not all in joviality.

Having not been able to land a hit on his second swing, Tommy then attempted to back track a little. If close combat was not to be his forte, then perhaps a little distance was needed.

"It is a pleasure to meet you as well. And Tracey." He nodded towards the wicked looking weapon that Rep possessed. "What was it before, if you do not mind me asking?" He questioned, as usual making an attempt at conversation even while in the midst of friendly combat.

"Just watch your back and you'll be fine." Rep said with an encouraging grin, not making fun of Tommy for the miss, instead returning a simple counter, not too vicious but not patronising either. "And don't trust people too ******** readily, sometimes things that seem too good to be true really are here."

Tracey stated, few people remembered to greet him and he was always delighted when they did. "He used tae be a fallen angel. Who and what are you wielding?"

"Well, I suppose I must thank you, for the advice." He continued to grin, taking several springing steps back in an attempt to gain some distance between them, Rep's counter attack not nearly so jarring as the first swing that had knocked Tommy nearly on his a**.

"A fallen angel? Wow, how beautiful that must be!"He let out a low whistle of appreciation, before lifting a gauntlet, aiming, and firing off an electric blue bolt from the mounted crossbow.

"Oh, yes! This is Jaida! She was..or should I say is? An elemental mage. She says it is a kind of reaper, but I thought a reaper was a man of bone with a hooded robe and a giant scythe. She is now grumbling to me about my ignorance." His smile widened and he let out a chuckle. "I do not think that she likes me very much."

In Rep's head, Tracey preened delightedly. "Aye, he was really ******** gorgeous before he was a weapon from what I can gather. Still is. " he added. "Normally he's a bit more put together but both of us have been like, under the weather lately. These spars help a lot. He says thanks though."

Tommy's weapon was examined with clear curiosity, there weren't - as far as Rep could gather - many reaper weapons on the island, that alone was cause for interest. The other fascinating thing was the nature of the weapon itself. "They are any number of things, from what I've read like, I think they are mostly humanoid. All of them are ******** dangerous though. Jaida looks good. You just need to learn to do her justice."

And he leapt up once again, bringing the axe down with all the limited force he could muster.

Thomas's face brightened, no easy task when he already, for the most part, appeared to be quite cheerful. "Such great beauty would be a wonderful thing to witness. I have heard tell of these things....golems? that our weapons can enter for a time. I would very much like to try that with Jaida."

The next attack from Rep's weapon was harder and faster then the one before, and it took Tommy a little off guard, giving him only a fleeting chance to fire a second bolt before he was retreating and circling once more, attempting to keep some amount of distance between them.

"Yes, justice. This is also good advice, I thank you." He nodded his head, while watching the other man intently for signs of his next move.

The follow up bolt despite it's hurried shot flew true and nailed Rep in the shield, he hissed irritably. "Golems are nice." he conceded. "As long as you don't accidentally ******** one up, then you get charged big bucks. So mostly good to stay like, careful with them."

He snorted. "You know. I really ******** hate ranged weapons. Someone good at ranged, I just can't get ******** close enough to land a hit."

Thomas nodded, taking the useful information that was given to him and filing it away. "Can they hurt themselves? The weapons, once they are in golem, I mean?" He would not, at this point, put it past Jaida to destroy whatever golem she possessed in order to get him into trouble, if it were possible for her to do so. Though as soon as he thought it, she scoffed, an indignant sound that seemed to indicate that found the very idea of doing so appalling.

Unless, of course, her intention was to make him believe that. He never knew what to think of the weapon in his head, who seemed to harbor so much disdain against him for no reason that he could fathom.

After one bolt flew, he quickly shot another, hoping to hit the other man again before he could close the distance between them. At Rep's complaint, Tommy couldn't help but grin. "Then maybe it is a good thing to practice, and I should keep shooting at you so you can continue to learn. Though I can not say that I am actually very good at it yet." He paused for a second, gauntlets still raised but brow furrowing slightly.

"You seem to know so much. Have you been here a very long time?"

"They can't hurt themselves in a real sense, like I think they can feel the pain but like, if they destroy it the only thing that really gets hurt is the golem itself and your bank account." he shook his head. "I don't risk it often, only used to cause we got good pay for it."

"Keep shooting and you will get a ton better." Rep assured, not because he had experience with range but simply because he'd watched other hunters improve immeasurably over the years they'd been on the island. "It's uncanny how effective like, weapon learning can be."

He swung again, neatly and without too much ferocity.

"Two or three years at this point." he said. "It's no so bad during quiet times like this, its when you get dragged into the pit of hell and to the brink of death that it gets shitty."

Thomas nodded in understanding, and decided he would need to give this golem thing a bit more thought before going ahead with the idea, and perhaps a lot more time to get to know the weapon in his head better first before giving her a form, however temporary, as well.

"I will keep that in mind." He smiled, though if at the information on the golems or the advice on his shooting he did not specify, and if he had tried to his words would have been cut off short anyways, as he was then reeling away from a swing that clipped his shoulder, leaving him slightly off balance for a moment before he could recover and lift his gauntlet up for another shot.

"Three years. It seems like such a long time yet so short as well. Have you been dragged to the pit of hell quite often, then?" He asked, unable to keep himself from grinning as he said it, even though it was likely far from funny.

The bolt struck and Rep flinched, but did not comment, seemingly fixated on his enthusiasm about the state of the island.

"It feels like ******** forever and yes! Oh my ******** god yes, way way too many ******** times. There's just been constant shitstorms for the last few years on this damn island. At this point I could get a ******** holiday home in hell and it'd be just ******** fine I bet." He did not at least, seem too upset about this state of affairs, a slight thrill in his voice about it all.

"Least it's never boring for long." And his counter attack was a swift strike with a very large hook.
