User ImageEarly fall the sun set a bit earlier Warm light filled the sky as the sun slipped below the horizons. South of the Dark caverns a new life was born during the hour of twilight. The wind brushing the cheek of a newly created balam caused her to stir. She flicked her ears back a few times before beginning to stretch. A long yarn escaped her as she awakened for the first time into the world. The movement of her stretch caused the bangles around her right leg to jingle. Bright red eyes flickered open gazing around with mild boredom as she sat up and whisked her tail back and forth taking in her surroundings.

She cast her gaze to her back feeling something heavy attached behind her. Two large bat-like wings with intricate and brilliant cyan markings were on her back. She stretched the extra appendages testing them. Instinctively she knew she could fly. How well however, remained to be seen. Ruby eyes returned to gazing at her surroundings for a time. Where was she supposed to go? She wondered; there wasn't anything here.

She sat in an area surrounded by large rocks and trees quite alone or so it seemed. This place seemed rather dull and boring though on the wind a unique sound came to her large ears. Off in the distance she could hear the howls of some creature or creatures. She found herself interested in them for some reason. Their call sounded like a lament to the sky for all to hear. It was a nice sound and the balam continued to listen. Sitting in one place though now that was getting boring at least for her.

There had to be something to do. She yawned and stretched again extending her wings fully and getting fully to her feet. The lady began to walk She flapped her great wings to gain some air landing on top of a nearby boulder then hopping to another higher nearby one to gain perspective. Perhaps there was something interesting nearby.

User ImageOnce the sun had fully come to rest beyond the mountain's edges Gabril left the side of his spirit bound to hunt. His wings stretched wide to catch the cool breeze of the night. It made for an easy flight. He did not know how long it would take to find one willing to 'donate' their blood. The matter was not a worry wreaking havoc on his mind. Instead he thought of matters that would need attending to, especially the increase in Bolfs coming from the caves near the castle.

Bright eyes scanned the floor below for anyone to have a 'conversation' with. Not everyone vanished with the sun's light.

He drew a deep breath and flapped his wings to gain some altitude. The stars above were all shining brightly against a half-light moon. Gabriel didn't mind the moon's light, it wasn't as painful as that which it reflected. It cast the land in a magnificent silver glow, even without it's full light pouring out.

"..." Gabriel tilted his wings to slow his pace.

Something was below.... it almost seemed to reflect the orange fading light of the sun in the evening. Female. And it was of his own tribe.

His wings slanted downward while his head lowered a bit. It would be best to inquire of this one. He had not seen her before.

The sun had already long since slipped behind the horizon. Midna watching The fading light of day seemed to hurt her eyes as she watched it gave way to the night.. Beautiful she thought as she still had to unfortunately turn away back to the dark. The moon's reflected light began to take over and Midna found she could see better now that the light was finally gone. Midna could not hear Gabes approach, however, her eyes were still adjusting from watching the fading light.

The Moon's light had fully overtaken the world. Her crimson eyes could surprised to see another Balam before her. Had she not just been alone? When Had he gotten there? She didn't like being snuck up on not at all. Midna's eyes narrowed suspiciously.

"And who are you?"

She asked sitting on the rock she'd climbed onto. The feline curled her tail around her paws looking rather regal.

Gabriel's paws stretched forward upoon impact with the ground. His body only crouched slightly to abosrb the skillful decent, massive wings fully flared out and embraced the silver glow of the moon.

Within seconds of his silent landing his wings folded to his sides, arms streightened out and head held high. Both ears pointed toward the new presence, one who seemed to be already aware of his own.

Quietly he moved forward, his posture unwavering. Crimson eyes cut through the dark with what appeared to be a bloody dull glow. An illusion given by the light of the moon.

She was definately not one he had seen in his tribe before, or anywhere on his travels. Perhaps she was a newly awakened being? The thought was short lived. Instead he continued his approach until he was only a few feet away from her. If she had been around long enough she would have noted he was much larger than an average male, giving clue that he was a magus. However, if she truely was new to the world she likely had no clue.

"I am Dracul." He spoke boldly, a sense of regality on his tongue.

"How long have you been here?" He inquired with the same tone.

The size of Gabriel aka Dracul(the dragon) never did register. He was simply just a large male having nothing to compare sizes with. she paid his size no mind. She knew nothing of the magus what it meant or their magics. But his approach seemed to drive away some of her boredom. Oh, this could be amusing even mildly interesting for a while at least. Midna simply smiled tilting her head to the side slightly. "Since the twilight began." she both turned her torso motioning with her forepaw in the direction of the sun that had just set. her markings seemed to come alive in the dark.

Returning her gaze to 'Dracul,' the corners of her mouth rose revealing a small smirking smile. She hopped down from the large rocks gracefully on a whim with her wings at her side. Sitting still was getting boring. When she was on even ground with him she suddenly felt small. The feeling irked her a little she hadn't thought she was so small rather; she'd felt as though she were taller. However, she refused to show such a trivial feeling remaining regal and mysterious.

"I'm Midna." she gave him a mysterious smile only to return his question back to him. "You then Dracul, how long have you been here?" she responded strongly. Midna had however, a different type of regal presence than the one Dracul gave off.

Now having to look up at this large male was annoying. Midna kept that to herself however.

Gabriel followed Midna's stepps without so much as a turn of his ears. His crimson gaze remained upon her. This one seemed to think very highly of herself. She had a regal presence about her, there was no doubt in that. However, her words were almost proof of her fresh appearence in the world. Mostly. Gabriel had a hunch. 'Since Twilight' was not very long at all, she could not have traveled here through the day. Not with their sight.

When Midna found her grounding and stood before him, Gabriel tilted his head downward so he wasn't looking down his nose. His head and stance remained unchanged in its regal posture.

"A long time." Gabriel answered without much change in his tone.

He was one of the first to awaken on the land, along with his 'brothers', the other magi, who were all in charge of the other tribes respectively. Though the world was still young, he would easily consider his presence in the land 'a long time' compared to others.

A trained eye found the markings along Midna's hide. The moon's glow made them appear almost vibrant against the veil of the ever darkening night. It was interesting. They reminded him of the luminescent mushrooms back in the home-cave. Though, clearly not as vibrant.

The next question, would this one wish to know where her "home tribe" was? She seemed content, or perhaps bored.

"You are fortunate to have awoken when you did. Our eyes cannot gaze upon the sun without being blinded..." He noted while he returned his gaze to her eyes.

This was a warning that seemed to be missed by quite a few of his fellow tribesman...

Midna gave Dracul(Gabriel) an acknowledging nod. He was much older than she then, though a long time wasn't very specific. His tone didn't change much either. Midna, had a hunch he was probably a lot older than he appeared. Especially in comparison to her, she'd only been here a few hours after all.

Yes, she'd realized that even the fading light hurt her eyes when she watched it. She had been fortunate not to have been woken any earlier than that. She could have easily been permanently blinded had she accidently stared at the bright light. She's realized as the sun had faded she could see infinitely better once the light was completely gone. Midna could see like it was day as the saying went.

"Our?" she questioned raising her brow only just slightly. There were others like her? Perhaps many or few in this area, did they live together or separately? She knew none of this. This conversation however, was boring her already. "I am aren't I?" she would certainly take the warning. Was it always this quiet around here? Midna wondered briefly. Now was the time clearly she as a Dark tribe should be moving about. How did they fare she wondered those others woven during the day? Were all Balam Nocturnal?

"You live in this place, does anything of interest exist here?" she asked seeing as she hadn't seen much of this place, bit didn't look all that exciting or impressive from what she had seen; which wasn't a whole lot. It was faster to simply ask rather than search herself, that would get boring quickly.

Gabriel drew in a slow breath before looking up to the moon for a brief moment. The night was a time to feed and re-gain strength for most of the tribesman. Considering Midna had just woken, she likely had enough strength. Gabriel was unsure if all of the dark tribesman awoke feeling energized.

"That would depend on your tastes." Gabriel noted before his focus returned to the dark b'alam before him.

"You can return with me to the Castrum de Drac and see if anything finds you fancy. Or you are welcome to explore the lands beyond. Just be sure to find shelter before the sun returns on the east horizon." He flicked a wing in the eastern direction. "When the sky turns to blood or gold on the line where the sky meets the land, that is your warning."

His wings shifted a little as he refolded them against his sides.

She watched as Dracul's gaze shifted as she waited for his answer. She smiled, her tastes was it? Midna wasn't keen on exploring an unfamiliar area without knowing a bit more about the area and her 'kind' for that matter. Not that she couldn't hold her own at least she felt she could. It remained to be seen if she could actually fight her instincts told her she could. It just made more sense for one to be prepared. You'd never go into battle unarmed as it were.

Castrum de Drac was it? The name sounded interesting if not a little ominous. More interesting than a place with no name in which nothing but talking happened. Was it a city, village or a colony? Maybe it was something completely different. She would be quite disappointed if it was boring there and it was a sleepy town or something. The name sounded far too regal for it to be trival and she was bored.

"Lets go then to this Castrum de Drac." the words sounded strange when she said them allowed it worked though when Dracul said it. Then again maybe it was just her imagination. Midna gave him another smile "Oh of course I wouldn't dream of being out in the day if it would hurt me."

Midna remembering the direction Dracul had landed from gazed off in the direction. It was the direction from which the mountains rose above the horizon. She grinned "I see."

"Alright. Follow me." Gabriel spoke before he walked past Midna toward the rock.

He was unsure if she would know how to fly, some were awakened with that basic knowledge. Unlike the wind tribe, the dark tribe needed to launch from a high point to take to the skies. A bit of a set back, but the dark tribe was far more stronger than any feathered B'alam.

The rock that Midna was perched upon was a good point.

Without another word he leapt onto the rock and spring into the air. Massive wings unfolded and stretched to their fullest to catch the air before he plummeted back toward the earth. The first two beats of his wings nearly brought each wing tip to meet until he begun to pick up altitude. After that he leveled his wings out to catch the wind.

While airborne he turned his ears to listen for any sign of trouble Midna may have taking to the skies. Eyes were also watchful of her movements.

She nodded to the side in acknowledgement. Midna watched Dracul hop onto the rock and unfurl his large wings. his first couple of wingbeats were powerful enough to get him higher into the air so he didn't have to flap so hard. She glanced back at her own opening them once again testing them again. They certainly weren't that big. Her wings seemed to work well enough when she needed to get onto the rock. Midna hopped back onto the rock the same way she'd gotten on the first time.

Right it wasn't a problem. She stood on the rock with her wings wide open, ready to leap off. She readied herself then leaped. The night wind suddenly picked up and unprepared it flung her to the ground she flapped furiously to right herself before she hit. A cry of surprise escaped her as she hit, ow. She lay there for a moment a bit dazed but she shook it off. Not a bright idea because hitting the ground had made her sore. It was a good thing the rock wasn't 'that' high. Though it had been high enough for her to get some scrapes.

Midna fumed. Checking to make sure nothing had been actually broken or hurt other than her pride. Midna glared out at the sky more determined.

Gabriel's ears twitched to the sudden soft-thump coming from the ground below. The lack of light wing beats joining his own meant she had not managed to launch from the rock.

His wings tilted downward as he begun his silent spiraling decent. It wasn't bad that Midna couldn't make it on her first try. The winds around here were unpredictable at times, one just had to make sure to adjust at a moment's notice. She was new to the world after all.

With as much grace as his previous landing Gabriel returned to the ground. Instantly his gaze scanned over her frame. She didn't appear to be broken.

"When you take off you must try to gain as much wind under your wings as possible." He noted as his eyes returned to her own. If she were injured she would speak up, or else it was not a problem.

"Control your wing beats and anticipate the wind's sudden changes."

Stupid Wind, she continued to fume as she stood shaking off her daze. Stretching out both of her wings she tested them making sure they were alright. She was going to be sore tomorrow; just what she needed, tch. Her pride was certainly sore even more so when gabe circled back and landed. She didn't need help. Well maybe a little she'd never admit it. she didn't care if she was new she felt as though she was still supposed to already know. She was better than this.

Her expression returned to a mostly calm state when Gabe started to talk it wasn't really nice to glare at the one who was trying to help. Nor had he done anything to deserve her scorn. The wind however and her own inability made her irritated. Her tail twitched a little as she tried to hide her irritation. She gave Gabe a nod when he'd finished talking showing she'd understood. She leapt back upon the rock she'd been swept from quickly after.

It would be even more embarrassing if she failed again. Without another word she leapt off with a few strong yet shaky wing Beats But eventually She lifted into the air, as she gathered as much as she could underneath her wings. Granted There wasn't a wind as strong this time. She still struggled a little trying to shift her wing shape to absorb and use the wind to her advantage.

This time Gabriel waited until Midna was aloft before he lept off teh rock and into the air himself. His massive wings spread wide and within a few powerful beats he was alongside Midna, to her right.

She had done well. Gabriel wondered if the instinct to fly was being awakened quickly. Only time would tell.

"Follow me..." He spoke over the wind in a strong boom. "If you grow tired and feel you cannot stay aloft, say so. I will guide you down."

Taking off and landing were two different aspects of flying and Gabriel was did not wish for the newly awakened dark b'alam to crash after a flight. Even with the verbal advice in place he held his senses attentive to Midna and her flight. His eyes, however, remained forward and toward the massive cave he called home.

Midna glided along behind Dracul her first few wingbeats unsure. As she continued, she became more confident. She felt the wind through her fur as it lifted her higher. Her wings young and strong carried her. Her gaze fell on the scenery below for a time, it was much easier to spot things from here. yet, It was much easier to be spotted especially if your pelt wasn't black.

"I won't grow tired," she promised gliding up to Dracul. She didn't need babying, though she felt as though she'd like to boss others around. Having authority and prestige certainly appealed to her. She could certainly picture it quite easily surprisingly.

Now where were they going. Midna surveyed the large mountain that they were heading for. Midna started to see a large cave entrance as the mountain began to soar higher and higher above them. There seemed to be more than one smaller caves higher up but the easiest entrance was the one becoming larger by the second. It even had a path for those without wings to enter. Assuming there were those who had no wings. Who wouldn't enjoy having wings. It was much quicker to travel this way.

With that thought Midna sped up flapping a bit harder and angling her wings to fly ahead of gabriel. Midna grinned.
