The evening had been magical. Her dreams had been about as good. She was happy. For the first time in her life, she felt happy. One eye opened, fluttering a little before the other followed and she yawned. The couch, that's right.. She was still on the couch. Sitting up, dark hair fell over her shoulders.
Loki was gone again, the couch empty save for herself. She was starting to think she was just a late sleeper. She smiled at the thought. She was learning new things about herself she guessed. She stretched out her arms, another yawn escaping her. She made her way over to one of the vintage mirrors, looking at the mess that was her hair. She supposed that after last night, there was no way her hair would be as perfect as she tried to keep it. And despite it not being perfect.. She was okay with it.
"Loki?" She called out, striding to the window. It was already open.. and from what she had seen, Loki usually closed it behind them.
So he was gone.. Maybe hunting? Her brain was reaching for reasons, there had to be a perfectly logical one.. No one in their right mind would have hit it and quit it with her.. No one..
Right?
She crawled out of the window, leaping onto her paws outside, before the paws became toes once again. She could smell his scent.. and he was long gone. She found her heart skipping beats, or so it felt. Not in the good way either. If he was hunting, something had happened for him not to have been back yet.
"Oh Loki.."She said softly. Her eyes squeezing shut, before she stood a little taller, and walked back towards the place she was calling home. Though with him gone... It was starting to feel more like a prison.
She walked back towards the drawer, her hand grasping at the tarnished gold knob once more. Pulling it out, she almost gasped. Empty. He had taken the collar that had been ingraved with his name.. Gabriel, it had been.
Her yellow eyes landed on a bag of candy, a rosebud lying next to the bag. She picked up the red rose, and clutched the velvet flower to her chest, before placing it back onto the table. The candy smelled good, and she'd never tasted it.. but she wasn't feeling up to it now.
When she closed the drawer, she felt another pang into her heart. He was gone. She hoped he would come back, but he was gone. He had wanted to hide his past so deeply.. she hadn't had a chance. She kicked at the papers underneath the table, and was surprised to see a newspaper. It was kind of weird to find something so recent in everything so old.. She knelt down, pulling the paper out from the leg of the bureau.
Sitting, she curled her tail into her legs, raising the paper to her eyes. There was a cat on the front page. Standing with a stern looking nasty woman.. The cat.. The cat was Loki. But the article said otherwise..
"Woman wins cat show. Gabriel takes the blue ribbon." She read aloud. So that was his story. Why had he kept this paper? Maybe for the same reasons he had kept the collar. She shouldn't have pushed..
Walking back towards the couch, paper clutched in her paws, she sat it on the couch, taking a seat next to it. She curled herself up, snuggling into the newsprint. It was Loki, and as much as she would hate to be seen like this.. No one was around, and she could mourn her loss in peace.
