Senja sat in her study in the corner where her lovely Ajaeng was set up, practicing one of the compositions her father's apprentice had written. The boy was certainly good! She was better at up beat and fast songs but he seemed to just have this talent for long epics, slow soft soothing music. Had she been younger she may have been jealous; but as she'd grown up she'd realized that others just had different talents and he'd focused on his while she had spent time dancing and playing rather than composing. Eventually I will be able to compose music like this! She told herself with a smile as her left hand caressed the strings while the other gently pulled the bow across the large instrument to bring forth the elegant deep notes to swirl about the room.

Sakhile heard the deep soothing sounds coming from his mother's office as he came trotting up. Peeking in he watched her at the instrument. It was huge, over two of him in length! He knew, he'd measured! It was made out of some dark wood, with inlays of a paler golden wood and the strings glittered in the light that streamed through the window. He smiled as he watched her; his mommy was the prettiest! He loved the way she played; it was almost like she was dancing in place. Long fingers weaving the mystical tones that spilled out from the instrument almost like magic.
She came to and end and he decided it was time she paid attention him! Sliding into the room he trotted over to her and crawled into her lap.

Senja laughed as her little boy suddenly appeared and grinned up at her. "What are you up to you little rascal?" She asked playfully as she scooped him up into a hug and snuggled him. "Didn't you go out to play with your friends down the street?" He was always doing that... meant for a slightly easier time for her even if it did cause his father to go into panic attacks... Rastian would just have to get over it and accept that Sakhile was going to play with strangers and encounter new things and it was not a bad thing.

Sakhile giggled as his mother nuzzled him. He wriggled around until he could wrap his arms about her neck and kissed her cheek.
"I wanna play with you instead mommy!" And avoid making his daddy panic... why was daddy so over protective? They were his friends! Wasn't like they were bad guys or something...
"I like that new song.... is pretty like you mommy." He said with a charming smile. Pay attention to me it said.

Senja laughed and sat back from her instrument so her child didn't accidentally kick it. It would hurt him more than it! Especially the Menzui silk strings....
"Meaning you just want to be paid attention too!" She gave him a quick kiss on the nose. "Silly boy! But thank you... Pidil wrote it for me to perform." She was rather happy to be compared to that song; she did like it! Though it wasn't quite as fun to perform as her fast pipe songs she danced to while playing!

Sakhile gasped and grinned; "Is Pidi trying to seduce you mommy?!" He giggled and rolled about in his mother's lap chortling at the thought. Daddy would have a fit if he was told that! An absolute fit! Not that he'd tell him.... fun as daddy's expressions in a fit were!
He looked up with a grin and held his arms out to his mother, wanting to be picked up again. "Tell me stories? Ones with strong knights and heros?" Those were his favorites: when the big strong warrior saved the day and brought peace back. He also really liked the stories about the quiet hunters who stalked unseen through the jungle, living wild and free.

Senja raised and eyebrow at Sakhile's words. "What? No! That boy's just composing music! Where do you get these silly ideas from?" She said with a laugh as she picked him up before standing up herself. Settling him on her hip she headed out of the study to go grab some food.
"More stories? Didn't I ell you some already? And you uncles? And your grandfather?" She asked with a smile. Not that she minded, it was good that he enjoyed listening to stories and music since it appeared he had no interest in performing himself. "Are you hungry Saki? Want to raid the kitchen with me?" She asked in a conspiring whisper.

He rested his head on Senja's shoulder and played with a lock of his mother's hair.
"I heard that word from some of the dancers! They always talk about the weirdest and funnest of things! And I like listening to stories! They're fun! They make my mind see pictures!" He pouted slightly but didn't keep it up. He wasn't feeling up to acting spoiled today.
His eyes got wide and he grinned; "Raid the kitchen? Momma! You a bad girl!" He giggled and chortled at the idea of his mommy misbehaving.

Senja chuckled and kissed Sakhile's curls; "Sometimes you have to be naughty! Being nice all the time is too stressful!" She said in an amused tone as she sauntered to the kitchen. "A story huh? About heros and knights..." She mused to herself.
She normally took people she knew in life nad created stories using them. It was easier if she already knew the people to make up a situation. How her father and the writers just made up characters and stories amazed her!

Sakhile had to think on this new information.... if it was okay to be bad sometimes... why'd he get punished for being bad? Maybe adults got to be bad a bit more than kids did?
He was immediately distracted by his mothers musing over stories. Did that mean she was thinking up a new one? He loved new stories! He knew most of the stuff he heard was either made up or half made up... not that it mattered!
When his mother set him down in the kitchen he trotted over tot he pantry door and tugged it open to stare at the glorious food stashed within.
"Can I have cake momma?"

She smiled as Sakhile didn't press for the story, though his eyes lit up. He was a smart boy and knew that a good story took time to think up... for his mother at least. His twin Uncles on the other hand...
She laughed and shook her head, her long tail of hair swishing softly; "No you cannot have cake! That is for dinner." She closed the pantry door. "We don't touch the food in here sweety, everything in this pantry has already got a used planned for it." She walked over to a smaller door, one that led to a small closet pantry. "This is where we keep the snacks and extra food stuffs." She said with a smile. The idea of food and cake started her mind churning; cake would be nice.... but take too long to make.. cookies though.... those were faster.
"how about we eat lunch... then make cookies?"

Sakhile watched in confusion as his mother showe him another pantry... why did they have two? he didn't understand.. keep all the food in one place made more sense! And meant he wouldn't get caught sneaking snacks... Is that how granny and momma always know it was me? He wondered. If so... he would have to make sure to use the other one! Maybe he wouldn't get caught that way.... "Cookies! Yay!" He chirped in delight, dancing around his mother's legs. "But why lunch then cookies? Why not cookies now?"

She chuckled and ruffled his purple hair, noting as she did so that maybe it was time for a trim as his bangs were getting a bit long.
"Because just cookies is bad... and it'll take time to eat them." She said as she grabbed some fruits, bread, and vegetables. "We'll make a salad with bread to hold us over for cookies. Go grab some plates for us, Sakhile." She said as she closed the pantry and started slicing the bread first.
Quickly making the meal, she made sure Sakhile was eating before she started.

He sighed and ate his meal.... salads were okay but he preferred more meat! He needed meat to grow up big and strong! But every time he told momma that she laughed and said he needed his veggies if he wanted to be healthy. It was also her excuse to keep sweets away from him... It'll rot my teeth and make me unhealthy.. whats with momma and health? He wondered as he finished his salad and nommed on his bread and butter as he stared at his mother. He wanted cookies!

Senja rolled her eyes when she saw her son impatiently eyeing her. She slowed down and smirked when his eyes narrowed. "Patience is a virtue, Saki." She teased as she slowly finished her berries one by one. She laughed as he started pouting.
"If you want cookies faster,I'll need the table cleaned." She teased as she went to get the ingredients. Sakhile cleared the table and did his best to clean it... but it was hard to clean the whole table top when you had such tiny arms. She picked him up before he could climb on the table and laughed. "No feet on the table Saki!"
