Quote: Survey Mission 4BLocation: The Abandoned Takakonuma Greenland Park Images:: x, x, x. General debriefing: Recently, the park opened itself up for a different type of tourist crowd, making itself a fun tourist set for locals, until unexplained deaths began happening to those on-site. Falling beams, uneven flooring, and occasionally, witnesses have claimed that they hear voices, oddly enough of themselves through the fog. * C class difficulty level (must have a team of three, at least one of them must be an intermediate trainee) MECHANICS * MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse portal to request a portal to Survey Mission 4B. Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Players can continue rolling until any of the players roll a INSANITY ENCOUNTER, in which case the BATTLE PHASE begins. See below for battle phase mechanics. 1- 20: You have a hard time getting past the fog, everything thick and desolate. Finally you see something, a flash of something, colour in the fog. You run over to it to discover that it is a mutilated corpse. Its face has been torn clean off its head, maggots crawling out of the skull. 21 - 40: You notice that some of the rides are moving on their own, from the roller coaster - still taped off with DANGER DO NOT ENTER - to the excuse of a ferris wheel. A body slumps to one side of the ticket booth, dried out. You turn around as you hear a strange hissing noise. As you turn back, the body standing, still, in front of the ticket booth. 41 - 60: You stumble for a second, as if someone, one of your teammates have shoved you, but when you look around, you notice that there is noone else in sight. 61 - 80: You see a mirror maze, and walk into it, your reflection eerie in each broken mirror fragment. Everything suddenly turns an oblique white and as you regain your vision seconds later, all your reflections have been replaced with your body melting, face and skin melting right off your face's reflection. Your reflection continues to copy everything you do. 81- 100: BOSS ENCOUNTER: - As you continue walking down the sidewalk you hear a large crack, followed by another. A strange gas explodes from underneath, making you extremely dizzy, as you cough to figure out what is going on, fighting for air now. You have exposed your entire team to a hallucinogen, making everything more terrifying than ever as your vision swims and hops uncontrollably and your hearing becomes muted. Something creaks, groans, lurches underneath you, but is that your imagination? - BOSS MECHANICS: This boss is a mob that has collective 100 HP. Every time you attack it (following the general battle rules), you TAKE 8 damage. AS you can't really see the boss, most of it will have to be dependent on what you can see, if anything at all, from strange faceless figures lurching, half-hopping towards you to the smiling dead coming back and swiping at you. Make sure to tally the boss's total HP (the damage you did to it) at the bottom of your post as well as your total HP and the damage you did that round. If the boss's HP hits 0, you have defeated it, and your team can now take the portal back. * 3 mission reward points for completing this successfully

Felicia showed up on time completely by accident. But once she did, she figured she might as well stick around till it was time to go. They'd find her rifling through the provided tech, squinting disapprovingly at every outdated bit and bauble, humming Taylor Swift to herself.

Habitually early herself, it wasn't long before America showed up, just in time to loudly sing the chorus. Grinning as she saw who she'd be on mission with, America decided it wasn't too bad of a way so start this one off. She liked having a nerd on hand for missions, even a trainee. It didn't take her long to get down to business, though.
"So what runics are you cleared for, and what else are you bringing?"
It was always the same with her at the mission starts, especially with newer hunters. At some point she should try and get back on pod duty, she thought idly, going over her own supplies. Newbies should get a better start than most of them did, and a pamphlet could only go so far compared to one on one, focused training and information. All said, if she'd been given a pamphlet she would have tried, but likely most of it wouldn't have sunk in until confronted with the real thing.

The third member of their little party was also in the habit of being punctual. Zeke arrived on the scene just in time to hear America asking about runics and additional gear, and though he didn't have the former, he did have the foresight to consider the latter. There was a flashlight in his pocket along with a few sample bags(just in case). Both were fished out and shown to the redhead as he came to a stop beside Felicia. "America, long time no see." His lazy grin seemed genuine. America had proven a competent leader in the past. Head turning, he gave the other member of their party a once over before offering a smile and a hand. "Ezekiel Young, Mist trainee."

"None?" she offered, laughing apologetically with a sheepish grin aimed at America. Laying down a headset, Felicia asked, "All t-tech like this? Piecemeal and half ancient h-huh-history?" Felicia thrust forward a bony hand with a goofy grin, admiring the look. Island of hotties reigned supreme. "F-Felicia Shepherd. Life!"

She jabbed a finger at each of them, "Hell if I know, hun, if it works it's good enough for me. We're gonna get you both cleared for at least one runic after this, we clear? It can be the difference between success and a body bag. But this'll do for now, mission is one of a sort I'm familiar with. Old abandoned parks getting spooky for and folks getting hurt or killed." America went over her own supplies swiftly as she spoke.
"Places like it are hot spots I guess, something gets too active and we gotta go in and beat it back to a quiet that'll last a few months until the next time." She led them to the portal with a nod to the hunters on shift and then through to the old park. It was, all said, a rather beautiful place.
Noting the bodies in a ticket booth and ride, America began taking photos with her phone. "Always good to collect samples and take pics if you can." Distracted by her phone, the girl let out a small shout when one of the bodies was now standing. "Jesus wept, ohmygod."
Hand to heaving chest she pushed it back down to the ground," And ******** stay that way."

Felicia listened attentively to America: she clearly knew what was what, and she was a big fan of paying heed to institutional knowledge. (Unless it was relating to people who just didn't seem that bad really a one nippled ginger couldn't be so bad.) "Well," she said, squinting at the corpse, "at least we s-s-started off ...strong...I guess..." Turning to try and find the pretty man, Felicia found that a sudden fog had overwhelmed her vision. Everyone was suddenly far away, but at least there was a figure in the distance. "God, how'd you g-get so far away, huh?" she murmured, hurrying to the bits of colour in the grey-- but as she got closer, it was clear that the lump was not so tall as it had first seemed. And lump was a kind word, for the state of that rotting flesh, for the maggots writhing inside the eyesockets. "Well," Felicia said again, gagging a little, and turned promptly on her heel to try and find Zeke and America again. Scrawl tried to be comforting: it is the cycle of life. Live, die, be consumed, return to the ground. It is the natural order. Whatever killed these wasn't part of the natural order, Sam.

Zeke was quiet and attentive and America talked to them and gave a run down of what they were going to be doing. Whether he was actually listening or not was a little debatable, but he did respect Amercia so the chances were in her favor. He'd follow the two girls through the portal on the notion that he could bring up the rear, watch their backs, but really, as a trainee there was only so much he could do. Still, straining senses had to count for something. He had his flashlight out and sweeping in slow arcs back and forth as they walked, least til America's exclamation jerked his attention back to her and the corpse she was pushing over. "Delightful." Semi-animated corpses? Fun time! His breath left in a sharp exhale through the nose. Almost, but not quite a snort. It was hard to see anything, including each other, but he could ear just fine. Felicia's voice drifted through the fog, moving father away. "Felicia?" Separating was probably not the best idea. He could see America, vaguely, through the thick haze, but the Lifer had been swallowed up completely. "Where are you going?" He started in that direction, gaze flicking back to America to keep her in sight, when something shoved him hard in the back and sent him stumbling forward. "********!" Not America. Not Felicia. "Something's in the fog, ******** with us."

"Yeah, the fog's like that. Be ready for a fight in it," America warned them. Passing by the fun house mirrors, the girl automatically checked herself out. As the light shifted, blinding her for a moment. Vision clearing the girl impassively watched as her reflection melt into something grotesque. "Least they aren't whispering mean s**t at me," she muttered darkly.
She hated the sorts of enemies that lingered about these places, nothing straightforward about investigating or fighting this s**t. Always playing tricks. The girl would much rather fight a dragon and spared a moment to think of the one in the tower and how satisfying it had been to take the ******** down. Up until she turned to stone and yet another ******** whammied the ******** out of her. America sighed quietly to herself and kicked a rock.

"Oh my g-god," Leesha whispered at America, scandalized. "That's a thing they d-do?" It really was just like being in a survival horror game. Somehow, it was a little less hilarious when the dead bodies were in really, really close contact with you. Huh. Fancy that! A sharp shove between the shoulderblades had her plummeting forwards, smashing into the sides of a stall. "Hey, c-cut it ou-" Accusing words died in her throat as she turned to see that the person who had shoved her hadn't been a person at all. "I'm p-puh-puh-pretty not okay with this," Felicia squawked, dusting herself off. "Something to f-fuh-fight would be way easier to d-deal with."

He found her as she caught her balance and dusted herself off, and he lay a hand on her arm to steady her, just in case. "I'm with you. This hide and seek bullshit is getting old. Ask, and ye shall receive. No sooner had he started looking for America's silhouette through the haze then he heard a very loud, very ominous crack followed by an awful hissing sound that had him reaching automatically for the scarf looped loosely around his neck so he could jerk it up over his nose and mouth. "Well ********." They'd asked for it, right? Despite the preemptive move, the gas rising up around him seeped through the scarf, filling is lungs, and everything began to swim unsteadily around him. his hand tightened on Felicia's arm, half for balance, half offering her balance, and he summoned half of Lagertha to his free hand. "I think we've got company!" Hopefully America would hear him, he couldn't see her, but she couldn't have gotten too far from them.

The call was muffled and strange, but the gas told America what was happening easily enough. Drawing her scarf over nose and mouth and ran toward where she thought the other two might be, Stryker a sudden golden sun, swinging through the fog.

Felicia shrieked in terror at the top of her <******** lungs. It was soon punctuated with flailing out at the nearest shadowy figure, pummeling whatever was there. It got her good in kind, but at least her blow hadn't been an easygoing one. "WHAT T-THE ********." The shadows Felicia had seen as a child and teen hadn't hurt like that. There was a chance the hearing on his left side was compromised after Felicia's ear drum piercing shriek. He winced, head cocking o the side to rub his ear against his shoulder, and summoned the other ax to his free hand as he let the other trainee go. There didn't seem to be a solid target, at least not one he could make out through the thick fog, but there were shadows moving in the haze, large and foreboding, and something struck him in his blind spot as he turned to keep one in particular in view. "********!" He staggered, catching his balance as he jerked around, but there was nothing to focus on! He took a chance anyways, flinging one of the axes into the fog at one of those rolling shadows, and to his shock and delight it hit something. Immediately he'd jerk it back, digging the pointed end into whatever it was that was out there before the axe was free and flying back to him on it's chain. HP: 32 DMG: 7 CHG: 1/3 Boss HP: 76
