One of the things Joy knew she had to do was learn the layout of Deus by heart. She was in Moon division, and from what she remembered, they were the healers. So there ought to be an infirmary somewhere and she should know the fastest route to get there on two feet. Maybe next time she'll set up a pedicab service and cart people around.
Of course, there was the issue of the island's terrain. But she'd ridden through mountains before and there were bike trails, maybe she could- her train of thought was derailed when she nearly walked into someone.
"Whoa! Sorry! Didn't see you there," Joy apologized, and could have sworn she heard a chiding tongue-clucking in the back of her mind for not having paid attention to her surroundings. Oh so now you can hear me? she mentally snorted at her weapon.Meegane It might take a bit for Joy to recognize Shu and vice versa XD

A soft hand came in touch with Joy's arm, "I am okay, don't worry" The owner of the cheerful friendly voice said. The Moon collided with a petite Asian, in a bunny ear hoodie. She used two hands to adjust her slanted peach-but-nearly-red glasses before she smiled at Joy. "Are you in a hurry? I'll be fine" The girl didn't sleep well the night before felt dizzy from the impact, face paler than the normal healthy pinkish color. "I'm good." She insisted again.
Eyes flickered and breathe became rapid, it was a failed feigning.

Joy blinked in surprise before angling her head downwards at the touch. It was a good thing she felt the hand before she heard the voice, otherwise there would have been a rather embarrassing moment of her swiveling her head in search of the source.
"Me? Hurry? Not really," she beamed, resisting the urge to give the shorter girl a pat on the head. Just because the other person was dressed like a bunny didn't meant Joy could treat them like a pet. Although it was tempting. "Unless there's a pack of zombies loose somewhere?"
Her genial smile faltered when she noticed the not-so-subtle signs of fatigue from the shorter girl. Already her hand reached out to help steady the glasses-wearer, "Whoa there, pushing the midnight oil are you?" There was an almost maternal tone to her worry, the harmonics of concern that Joy herself had heard from her own mother countless of times.Meegane Mom-mode partially activated

The joke of zombies caused a weak giggle, "you might have chance to encounter that in mission" the petite girl accepted the assistance and clung some of her weight onto Joy. "Sorry for the trouble, I guess it's a bad idea to read after you had an external mission. Some books are close to due date, so I wanna finish them. Can you bring me over there please?" She pointed to the settee not far away. "If it doesn't trouble you, can I ask for a drink from the vending machine?" She handed Joy her wallet.

"They were the welcome wagon when I fake-woke up," Joy grinned wryly before she gave the shorter girl a thoughtful once-over. She nodded, more to herself, before getting down to offer a piggy back ride. "Unless you prefer bridal style?" the grin turned teasing as she glanced over her shoulders at... uh... "What was your name again?" the moon trainee blinked in realization, not the least bit bothered by the fact she was still on her knees.

"Oh myyyyyy they played a trick on you, who's that evil person?" Even she felt unwell, her surprise could be delivered. "Piggyback ride is fine, thank you" It was unexplained for the excitement in her voice, after the giggle escaped from her mouth, hands wrapped around Joy's shoulder. "I am Shu, Dong Shu Lei, nice to meet you." "Ah, that way" she told the way, noticing her coat didn't have the colored border.

"Wouldn't call her a person exactly, but ALICE is certainly evil," she snorted none too delicately. When the weight on her back settled and she had a good grip on Shu, Joy rose to her feet with little difficulty. "Good to meet you, Shoe," she mispronounced (not on purpose) before introducing herself "I'm Ligaya delos Santos. You can call me Joy, or Lee, or Happy."
Instead of going to the settee, she headed first to the vending machine, bending to give Shu access to the buttons and coin slot. "Did you get all your reading done?" she asked, making conversation. The difference in their coats didn't really strike her as interesting, just a personalization perk. Still, she did wonder whether Deus had an age limit in their recruitment policy.

Joy's back was comfortable, much softer than him maybe but her reply made Shu pushed herself up in a fuss, "ALICE is not evil, she's just alone....she can't leave the world of dream so she wants us to stay with her. Please don't misunderstand." A few hand waves and anxious tone that made her nearly fell before she grabbed onto Joy's clothes and exhaled in relief. The heart throbbing transferred from the Moon's back might tell her how hectic she was. When she finally calmed down, the grab was of lighter force. "Joy then, joy's a cute happy name, who named that?" The head reached out from the left, amber eyes glancing with a smile, a strand of dark brown hair with strawberry ombre at the end slid down with her movement. The drink she picked was a bottle of water, "thank you", she said as Joy helped her to get the bottle out the slot. "Yup, luckily. They're interesting" The petite Death rubbed her eyes, she probably need a nap soon. She looked young, but can be reassured to be an official adult. The shortness and baby face, typical asian feature that can be regarded as cheating already tricked a bunch of hunters. Ah, forgot to mention her flat-like-washboard chest, it was also a reason why some treated her like twelve or something.

It was lucky that Joy had already stopped when Shu pushed up against her, otherwise there would have been some stumbling on the taller woman's end. Joy's face scrunched up, her disbelief on the topic of ALICE simply being misunderstood clear. "Where I come from, that's called kidnapping and..." her brow knotted in concentration as she tried to finaggle the appropriate legal term for unlawful detainment. Instead she ended up with "Forcing you to stay somewhere."
But Shu was clearly getting worked up about it, and Joy didn't want to add more stress to the shorter hunter. She sighed, "Oh sya, sya, fine, you don't think ALICE is evil." It was the closest to a concession that Joy was willing to make on the matter. "My parents named me Ligaya, but it was kind of a mouthful for me when I was a kid so we went with the usual nickname Joy. That's what Ligaya means in Tagalog."
She would have shrugged but that would have jostled Shu unnecessarily on her back, "What were the books for? Don't tell me this place gives Homework," the grin was teasing as she made her way to the plush furniture, brown eyes alert for any throw pillow she could collect for Shu's use.

Shu stuttered at the concession, she wanted to tell Joy genuinely that ALICE was just a lonely girl even she held incredible power. (You know how it feels.) Yes, I do. The fairytale book held by a pair of little cold hands, body curled up in the dark, narrating the lines from the book - the little hand rubbed her tummy when it created thunder-like loud drumbeats. - Her concession, a quiet sigh of 'her existence saves me' Despite of the pale face, the petite Asian was full of cheerfulness. The smile only grew bigger and bigger as they chatted. "It's a really cute nickname. In our place, family sometimes use reduplication of word from the full name as nickname. For example, my name - last word is 'Lei', meaning flower bud. My sisters and mother called me 'Lei Lei', it was close to the pronunciation of the intimate call of the word meaning 'daughter'." She raised a finger, "because babies don't recognize a lot of words, reduplication of a simple sound will do the trick. 'Dong' is our surname while 'Shu' - it means one of the Six Arts - calligraphy." She grabbed the water and sipped. The intake of water made her feel much better. "Haha. If you count mission reports." The giggle subsides, "they were some books about ghosts and undead, I plan to visit the Halloween World in a student golem, so doing some preparations." A small thank you when she landed comfortably on the furniture. "It was a fuss when I went back from the mission, idly reached for one of the books and saw the date" she teased herself.

The shorter woman chatted about a wide range of subjects, many of which Joy had little to no idea about so she couldn't quite contribute apart from a nod or a quizzical look or an occasional "Ohs?"
However, she perked up at two subjects, "Wait, what's a student golem?" she'll ask about the whole report writing thing later. This subject sounded much more interesting (and devoid of messy paperwork.)

"A student golem allows you a disguise of Amityville student so that you can pry information from the residents there, it's the H-type. There are a few more, like P-type which is used in one of the training course and C-type which used in another course. Let's talk about the H-type since you're interested." Shu sipped from her water, rolled her eyes which were on the bottle (if not, the water might have a high possibility to pour out) to Joy and raised a forefinger. "You will be remotely controlling it from the island, when started, it will shift randomly into one Halloween world habitat, like demon, monster, zombie, anything. They can be used for duration of one mission, hmm, around 7 days. Golems are made of dust, powdered bones, water and most important FEAR." Like a little teacher, she told the new Moon what she learned, without any hold-back. The hand dabbed on the hand flatly opened, "ah", she abruptly remembered something. "There should be orientation roughly a month for newly awakened hunters, oh oh, have you got our newbie kit? They are in the pod room." Shu beamed happily, and soon Joy knew why. "It's organized by Mr. Thompson, hmm - Obadiah Thompson, a great Moon hunter, you will find him on twitter. He is willing to help new trainees like you." Yes, she liked talking about her acquaintances they were all nice people.

Joy could only sit back and listen to Shu as the shorter hunter got her second wind. The moon trainee tried, she really did, to keep up with the topic of golem. At first, Joy thought it was some sort of article of clothing, like a monster-mask or those goofy glasses with a nose and mustache attached. Only magic (or runic.)
"W-wai- tekaminute," Joy held up her hands in joking surrender, chuckling a little enough though she was visibly confused. "Info overload, mahina ang kalaban,"
Show no weakness. Her weapon rasped. Joy pretended she didn't hear him.
"There are different types of golems?" Joy slowly repeated for her own benefit, "And it's a robot that can transform into one of the creatures?" Look, remote control equals robot to Joy, it was only because she spent more time outdoors than cooped up inside that she didn't make a reference to them being More Than Meets the Eye. "But it's made of stuff that robots aren't usually made of?" Joy got the feeling she was being judged and weighed and found sorely wanting. It may just have been her weapon.
And then the topic was quickly (and thankfully) shifted to kits and orientations. And at least that Joy could follow somewhat, "I thought as Moon I should talk to Edith Or Harrison? Is this Mr. Thompson like a subordinate of theirs?"

" Mahina ang kalaban? Oh sorry, did I speak too fast?" She wetted her dry lips and nodded with a smile to her first question. " Hmm, robot. I guess you can say so, sophisticated machine - yup, because the Halloween inhabitants would suspect, if there's no FEAR inside the golem. Imagine you are controlling a robot cat from far, you can see and hear through it, the only difference is it's humanoid." She beamed in surprise, " So you know the Moon assistant and Mr. Harrison, that's great." Shu grabbed Joy's hands quickly before she let go. " Mr. Harrison's a nice guy, he gives information and warning to newbies on twitter. As for Mr. Thompson, he's a full hunter as well. The reason why I mentioned him is the orientation includes nearly everything a new trainee should know and he made a lot of efforts to educate newbies." She paused. " You are free to find whoever you want, just the orientation would be something you don't wanna miss." Shu winked, stressing how good it is. " There will be experienced hunters from each division to answer newbie's question as well as a briefing that prepare you for what you need to do. Are you newly awakened? How long?."

Joy held a hand up, pointer finger and thumb positioned to look like she was pinching air, "Yeah, you were going a little fast and telling me a lot at once." But that was alright, so long as like, Shu wasn't going to quiz her on their convo.
"I wouldn't say know but Horace told me about them. And I only started figuring out how to use these high-tech phones," she admitted sheepishly. "It's going to take a while to get used to touching the screen instead of buttons so that, uh, Twitter thing might have to wait. But I will totally attend that orientation thing."
From the way Shu spoke, Joy couldn't help but envision Mr. Thompson as this middle-aged English professor in a tweed jacket and a bow-tie. "So are Full Hunters like the top dogs in Deus? And how can I tell who's the boss?" she doubted there would be a button or placard people would be toting around to identify themselves.
