[Backdated to January 1st]
For a while, Irene just wandered around. Not aimlessly; she had a very clear goal in mind. But she had no idea where to look or what to think, other than the worst. With few ideas, she checked every place she could remember ever visiting with Andrew, the shops they went to, the restaurants they'd tried on the handful of supervised outings she'd planned. She checked Maize Maizier, just in case, and swung by Cass' old house, her stomach clenching more as she passed by. This was one place they hadn't visited together, and for good reason.
The more she searched, the more desperate she became, and the more she began to grasp at straws.
"If the Negaverse took him," she said to herself, "they would know where he is." Not that they would want to tell her, even if she did ask politely. Not that she had the physical strength or temperament to threaten anyone. And even if someone did decide to divulge that information to her, they would be at the mercy of their comrades, and it would be all her fault. She couldn't knowingly put anyone into that position, not even for Andrew. But if she could neither negotiate nor strongarm, what paths were left open to her? "Ya know... th'cat's pretty easy t'get in contact with... even if ya bring her... it's better than nothin'..." Iris had never pushed to know the identity of her newly purified friend. But she had offered advice- if not a direct order- that Irene had forgotten about. She was so sure she had to fix this herself, since it had to have been caused by her mistake, but maybe that way of thinking was a mistake as well.
With shaking hands, she pulled out her phone and typed up a quick message. As soon as her finger brushed the SEND key she was off, pleased to finally have a destination in mind, and hopeful that it would lead her to the person she was searching for.
I think something terrible has happened to my friend, and I don't know what to do. Can you meet me at our usual spot in the park?

Sure, on my way! The park was a pretty common place for meeting up, but there wasn't anything bad about meeting up in a common place. When Irene arrived, she'd find a chubby manx cat waiting for her.
********* had witnessed a portion of the Masquerade insanity that had happened, but she wasn't able to stay long enough to get a solid idea as to what had happened. If that crazy girl hadn't chased her away from the party, the Mauvian could have helped out more.
"Happy New Year, Irene!" the manx warily greeted from her spot on the bench.

It was weird meeting at their usual spot when it was light outside. Not that Irene expected much interruption at such an early hour on a holiday, but her nerves were frayed, and she found herself looking around frantically as she approached the bench.
The polite thing to do would be to wish ********* a Happy New Year in return. But Irene, who was usually so careful about such things, barely heard the salutation. Barely remembered the kiss from a few hours earlier. "I'm looking for someone," she blurted out, holding her hand several inches above her head. "He's about this tall, dark hair, probably kind of nervous? If he's powered up, he's a knight of Mercury, with a white scarf. Can you help me look? Do you know where we should start?"
That ********* would know where to look for someone she'd never met was unlikely, but she might at least have an idea of what to do next. By that point, Irene was totally tapped out.

Considering the message which ********* had received, the manx was more than understanding when her greeting was not returned in a complementary manner.
"He smells an awful like you."
It was a plain, yet bold statement on the Mauvian's part. However, it got what she needed to say out there. With a hint of a pause, the manx then continued.
"I am going to guess this is the one that Iris mentioned to me. Based off how he threw me after I spoke, I would guess he doesn't remember much of the magical world of Destiny City."
Turning towards the city, the Guardian pointed a paw in a particular direction. "He was at the Masquerade Ball... based off the chaos I saw while I was fleetingly there... I am pretty sure the Negaverse was behind it."
Hopping off her bench, she began to walk in the direction she had just pointed in.

********* comment was a bit weird, but not surprising, considering they did live together. Maybe she'd met him before. Except he wasn't supposed to be leaving the apartment without her. Not until the Negaverse began to forget about him, and he started to get a handle on his new life. Things that hadn't happened quite yet.
Irene nodded at ********* assumption, anxious about where this conversation was going. It was true that she hadn't properly explained about knights and senshi yet. She wanted him to figure out his normal life first, before throwing things like magic and evil organizations into the mix. So far, all she'd really let on was that he was in danger, and had to be careful around anyone he didn't know. Which at this point was pretty much everyone but her. That way, he would at least be safe.
Unless he cast off her rules to go to a Negaverse-sponsored party.
"Why would he do that?" she whispered, putting one hand over her chest. "We were being so careful. I thought he at least understood that much." She moved to follow *********, the questions still pouring out. "Was he okay? Did they hurt him? Where did he go? Why didn't he come right home? Oh god- what's wrong, that he couldn't come home?"

As the tailless animal continued to trot forward, she attempted to explain what she was able at that point.
"Honestly, I didn't catch much of what was going on. There was indeed a struggle it seemed, and many of the civilians seemed to be losing their energy rapidly. However, some girl randomly started chasing me, so I didn't get to see everything and how it played out."
However, as Irene's panic seemed to start getting the better of her words, the manx had to turn around and pause in step.
"Irene... your concern is well placed. I cannot deny such a thing. However, please do not start panicking. Panic is overwhelming and will dull your senses to the world around you. We both need to stay sharp if we want to find your knight-friend."
Tilting her head, she reminded her "I do not have all the answers... but if we keep our heads clear, we can find the answers together!"

How could she not panic, after everything she'd heard? Andrew was missing, ********* had practically confirmed that the Negaverse had a hand in his disappearance, and she had no idea where to look. This was pretty much the worst thing she could imagine happening, and she was supposed to be calm?
But ********* had a point. She hadn't learned anything by tearing off on her own. If she was going to have any chance of finding Andrew, she would need more than focus. She would need awareness of more than how desperate things had become.
"Okay." Closing her eyes, Irene forced herself to take a deep breath and let it out. It didn't make her worry any less, but when she opened her eyes again, she felt a little bit less like the world was spinning out of control. "Where do you think we should start to look? Would it help to check the Ball? Or..." She swallowed uneasily. "Or should we try the hospitals?"

Nodding her head towards the senshi, she turned away towards the fallen Masquerade's direction.
"Well, while people are still asleep and you have the fuku on, we should check the Ball itself... however, once there are more people awake, out and about... we should probably go incognito... and that is when we can check the hospitals. Does this sound okay with you, Irene?"

"Let's go, then. The sooner we find him, the better for all of us."
The time for mindless panic was over. Now she had to channel her fear into something useful. Irene nodded at ********* and picked up her pace, heading in the indicated direction. If they were lucky, Andrew would still be hiding somewhere nearby. If not, she wasn't going to rest until she found him.
