Lavi sat on the beach watching the ocean and thinking. It was that day. His children were grown, had been grown for a long while. But he'd stayed to make sure his boys at least learned manners. Especially around girls. He didn't want them making his mistakes. Not that he could stop them. He knew Cody was likely hot on the tail of something pretty and female right this second. He'd been like that once. He remembered that lion. Vaguely. Though he knew he was no longer that lion. Duty, he'd stuck around for his children because of duty and had tried to never leave his boys the wiser. He wasn't sure what his boys thought of their parents relationship be he hoped they'd at least faked it well enough to make them think they loved each other. That therein was the problem. He didn't love her. But he'd be damned if he hadn't learned to at least like her.
They hadn't had much alone time with the boys around so he wasn't sure. One did not woo a lady with her son sitting just feet away. That he was considering it as he sat there was a marvel. Wooing his baby mama. Definitely doing things out of order. He frowned. In his younger days choosing one female had seemed like such a sacrafice. And now...welll...he supposed it would depend on her. Did they like eachother? Could they learn to love eachother? He sighed and turned to get up and head back to the cave.

This had started from something so wrong, not what she'd pictured as a younger lioness. Her dreams of a big happy loving family now in question due to so many little issues. It hurt. Her heart hurt, and the constant worry of him leaving hung around her like a heavy shadow for all this time. A fear of...abandonment, was it? How silly she must seem. Yet whenever their sons were around she'd smile and give those two babies her unconditional love. No matter where this went that love would never cease, her sons truly made her proud.
As Aridai tried to look tough by puffing out his chest she cannot help but giggle. He'd be a sensitive boy no doubt. Different colored eyes fall on Cody, possibly of his father's paw steps. That made her cringe internally. Padding softly to the back of the cave where she'd slept alongside Him she sighs, chin resting on her paws as fear clutches her heart. They hadn't done much together, their time mainly belonging to their boys. Now was it...but could they grow attached?

He padded back to the cave with apprehension. This plan, this half cocked and partially foolhardy plan, could blow up in his face. He'd hurt her before. Repeatedly. Once with the smoothie themselves. Now his powerful looking sons. And the second time by almost giving into his scared side and leaving her to raises the boys alone. He was happy he had not decided to do that. His sons made him proud. Well most of the time they did anyway.
As he got closer to their cave, he saw Aridai hanging about and shooed him off. Telling him to go find something more important to do than hang around his parents acting tough. He expected the boy to come back, but he wanted to talk to Amber alone. The boys would just have to get used to mommy and daddy getting more alone time if they could work it all out. A thought ghosted through his mind of kissing her. He hadn't done that since...that night...and he'd been drunk at the time. No way was he doing that sober and aware in front of his boys. He huffed. Well now that was decided it was time to find her. "Amber?" he walked into the cave and called gently.

Lost in thought once more it'd taken her more cuddly son to be shooed away for the moment to snap back, though her gaze quickly shifted toward the cave wall rather than the direction of him. She knew he was coming in, her heart heavy and conflicted by all of this. Their sons gave her such strong pride, and Aridai had proven to be a very big snuggly Mama's boy so she'd felt loved. But now, with just her and Lavi alone that fear came back again, ears pressed to her head.
"Y..yes..?" Dammit. Her voice always disobeyed her, giving away feelings so easily just like her Father. As Lavi got closer she'd roll over a little as if shrinking away, differently colored eyes wide as she subconsciously prepares for the end of it. So long now the pride and joy felt had kept this at bay, but now it clenched a fist around her chest. "H..hello..."

Fear. He should have know he'd hear fear in her voice. She must have know this was coming. She must have expected him to leave. Instantly he was ashamed. But even he couldn't have predicted he'd change. That his boys would change him. That duty would change him. That her courage would ring though their ordeal and change his view of her. She saw herself as weak but he saw true. Underneath the padding and stammering was a backbone of steel. It was she that taught the boys hope and courage, not him. And that was because those were the two words that most described her.
He shook himself. This kind of introspection was not like him. And it was revealing many things he wasn't quite comfortable with. As a younger lion he would have thought these types of emotions made him weak.
He continued deeper into the cave to their sleeping place and gently bumped heads with her in greeting. "Would you like to go do something with me? We're alone for the first time in forever."

For what seemed like an eternity to her she awaited him reaching where she lay, expecting those words to come from him at any moment now. She'd done the best she could with their sons, hoped so strongly for them to be strong and loving like her father was and it seemed like she'd succeeded. She felt such strong pride and love for those two, knowing one day they'd find partners to spend their days with and live happily. That's all she really desired for them at least, happiness.
Feeling a nudge to her head brings the lioness back to the present, differently colored eyes growing wide. Here it was, any second now he'd...what? Shifting a bit she actually looks at him now, her shocked expression visible. "R...really..? I thought...I mean..." Ears lowered she'd just look at him for a bit, thinking back. despite the past words he'd been supportive, helping with their sons upbringing as well as...being around her even if privacy was limited greatly. He'd been there this entire time and now when he could very easily leave as once stated...instead he'd asked to...do something together.
Speaking softly she gives a little nod. "Yes...i...if you'd like to...It's been a long time..." Maybe watching his own babies grow had done something. Maybe he had somewhere along the line started to really...care for her. A soft smile on her maw Amber leans forward and licks his cheek, eyes wet with joy.

He watched and waited as her expression changed three times and politely pretended he didn't know what each expression meant. Fear, then surprise, then hope. He ignored the question and exclamation like it had never happened, all the while keeping his expression light and giving nothing away.
"Yeah. I thought maybe a swim or a flight? Maybe a walk on the beach? What would you like...", trails off as her lick interrupts him and makes him stop. Something in him snapping with lust and love. A violent and almost unbearable burst of emotion. Vaguely he remembers that being why he'd picked her at that party so long ago, passion in it's most explosive form. He turns his head to look at her fully in the eyes with a smoldering look. "Or would you prefer not to leave the cave?"

As Amber listens to Lavi's words she can't help but look at him closer than she had in a long time. For so long she'd allowed fear to stop her from doing much, she'd never really spent time with the father of her now grown babies and with Aridai and Cody gone...it was truly just them.
The old shyness she held upon their first meeting returned, a growing blush tinting creamy cheeks dark showing that his approach was not only liked but effective. Her heart skipped a beat, the look in those familiar eyes giving an old fire tinder to grow once more in her belly and chest. "A...well.." For once she gives him her best flirty smile, nuzzling then licking his cheek again. Perhaps things were working out just fine after all..."We...don't have to...go out.."

He rumbled low in his crest in pleasure. This wasn't how he'd thought this would go but this outcome wasn't all unwanted. But later he would take her out. Play again. Learn to love her that way. Now he would play in an entirely different manner. He rubbed and liked her on the cheek in return then whispered in her ear. "Well then, shall we?" He grinned and then rubbed himself all the way down her body. Let the game begin!
