When the letter had been nailed to their hive all those nights ago now, Guineamom had been out, as she often was, running the land. The pounding had startled a defenseless Nahori right out of her nightdreams of carrot cake and candy. Was that a knock, was she supposed to open the door for them? Nervousness and indecision kept her rooted in place, clutching the broom she'd been using to half-heartedly clean up the entranceway. Mom was always the one who greeted visitors, not her, and by the time she finally tripped over to the troll-sized door next to her mother's large hatch, whoever made the noises was long gone.
Swinging the door open a little too timidly revealed no fellow troll, just a note, a note she knew she should leave for mom to retrieve upon her return. Should, but wouldn't, her curiosity got the better of her, and she plucked it down and skimmed it quickly. The color drained from her face.
Not again, no, not again, she wasn't ready. Nahori knew mother would never deny this summons from the Queen, and in the end doing so hadn't been her lusus's decision. In fact, there was an incredible certainty in her gut when things had been settled and the news got back around that she would be in deep, deep trouble, her misdeed discovered. Instead, mom appeared more concerned with traveling to Chittentown so she could check up on its progress, rather than wondering what could have happened to their official notice of the event. The truth that she had crumpled up the paper and immediately discarded it never even came to light. Score one: Nahori.
Any satisfaction she felt coursing through her was immediately quelled upon arriving in town, though. The arid climate didn't agree with her much, nor did the faces of the trolls here, even though none were sparing her a glance. Mom had let her down in the marketplace to look at the stalls while she was snuffling around for much more important goings-on. Nahori didn't mean to stray, but she'd let her mind wander as she nervously shuffled along, and when she finally looked up she was alone among the crowd.
Her lusus was far too large and should've been visible were she nearby, but she wasn't, and though her charge appreciated alone time more than anything, this was an unfamiliar town. Stopping, frozen at some stranger's stand, she waited, suddenly completely unsure of herself.

Stryke had begrudgingly left his hive shortly after the sun set in order to restock on a few supplies. The last time he'd slipped outside he'd crumpled up the royal notice on his hive door that had previously been tacked onto it during the height of the drought. He didn't want anything to do with the problems going on...he'd clung to what little water reserves he had tucked away and effectively more or less buried his head in the sand on the issue. Stryke still was uncomfortable even trying to make sense of what direction he wanted to go, and the call to arms had been ignored thankfully without his lusus's noticing. For now, he focused on what he had set out for instead of the recovering towns woes even if that made him a coward. Namely he was after herbs from one of the small vendors for more tea, and horehound for additions in some future batches of sweets and cough medicine if needed. He wasn't an expert on either front, but reading several books on botany certainly had helped in his dabbling. He'd had a mixed amount of success fortunately. As far as he was concerned, it kept him busy and out of trouble. When all was said and done Stryke realized a bit too late that perhaps he could have made more than one trip. The short yellowblood could barely see where he was going once he'd gotten everything he needed and paid his beetles before shuffling off. His lusus was trailing behind him at a leisurely pace; SkinDad wasn't exactly in the mood to help even if several of those goodies where for him. He looked up in time to see a lonely little orangeblood seemingly without a lusus of her own. He wouldn't have spared her a second glance, weren't it for the next few seconds that passed. "so. you think if we get some water on to boil now that it's back in abundance it'll make something good.." He squawked in dismay as he barreled into a solid mass. His basket of herbs went flying out of his arms. "ah ssshit..!" This particular setback made him scowl, raising his voice more so than usual albeit briefly. "ugh, sssorry." Ryk muttered softly to both the source of his halt and lusus, for having sworn in his parental unit's presence. He began immediately with gathering up the dumped contents sparing a glance to look up at the source of what he'd run into. The stockings caught his attention first, perhaps tipping off her blood type...along with the given carrot shaped symbol. "oh. i didn't see you there my apologizes." While still frowning, he at least sounded rather sheepish in light of his blunder.

Minding her business should have been a safe bet in keeping any attention away until Guineamom inevitably found her again. At least, that had been Nahori's plan after she moved away from the front of the stall she'd halted at; she didn't want to block any potential customers and irritate the shopkeep, after all. In time, though obviously still on edge, she'd settled some and taken to troll watching, a favored pastime back in New Hemisect. It proved an entertaining distraction, enough of one that when a tall stack of goods (surely there was a troll in there somewhere) came lurching towards her, she didn't notice until it was too late.
A shriek bubbled in her throat, catching when she was able to steady herself from tumbling sideways and only took a few awkward steps. The merchandise that nearly toppled her fell away instead, revealing the troll beneath, a yellowblood as she was quick to pick up on. Fear tingled along her limbs. What had she done? Mother always told her, check for blood color first and foremost, being unintentionally rude to a highblood could get you culled. Not that Nahori was crass with anyone, even redbloods or other orangebloods, she simply didn't act that way. Polite and quiet was her natural state, all thanks to her overbearing lusus, but now as she stared at the one who had bumped her, that quiet fell away in favor of attempting to explain herself.
"Ah... I-I'm s-so sorry," she was struggling, stuttering maybe even a little more than usual. Yellow was still higher on the totem pole than orange, and so this unexpected company, though another child, thank gog, was a highblood to her nonetheless. She made a mistake running into him, even if he'd been the true offender, her thinkpan was already telling her otherwise. She was the one in the wrong.
"Please d-don't apologize, I-I should have been paying m-more attention, um, I'm so s-sorry for getting in your way. Ah, um, I-I..." she trailed off, eyes darting between anything of his that remained on the ground. She was reaching for it, he shouldn't have to pick up his own things like that when she'd been the one to jolt them out of his hands, but she couldn't keep from hesitating. What if he found her touch offensive? What if she soiled his belongings? What if, what if, but she had to do something. Ruffled Nahori was having a hard time calming down. "Um, can I help you with that...?" she finally managed, a light orange tinting her cheeks.

Stryke pursed his lips as the girl stammered; her wide fearful expression confused him at first. It wasn't like he was that far beyond her in the hemospectrum totem pole. Yet based on her response the attentive troll could summarize she was not only afraid, but downright terrified if her stuttering was any indication. He didn't even know her, but from the shriek to blushing and stammer he could just imagine he’d spooked her. Stryke sighed quietly. He hadn't meant to terrorize some strange troll, let alone make her feel obligated to him. "i really ssshould have been watching where I was going. no worriesss alright? it’s kinda hard when i can't see over my own stuff anyway." Stryke had it in him to chuckle as he soothed her quietly. Seriously, if she wanted to take that stance it was neither of their faults. He showed no outward signs of offense or malice towards her now that the yellowblood had a moment to adjust to the situation. In fact he seemed to be regarding her calmly, trying to offer a smile in hopes of easing her fears. Tilting his head at her, he reluctantly nodded his head at her offer to help. At least she hadn't tried to grab hold of something he'd been reaching for. He'd have felt like a wiggler for retracting from the contact. "if you want to help? yeah." he lightly gestured towards some of the discard herbs and one of three baskets. Really he hadn't expected her to offer, nor would he turn her down. His only request was that she was careful with the contents. Although, somehow Stryke doubted she would intentionally ruin anything based on her demeanor. "tell you what...help me carry some of this, and i'll make it worth your time. are you much of a sssweet eater? i'll grab some from my hive i made the other day. it’s just down the road. call it an exchange for scaring you half to death." He rubbed at the back of his neck some in response. “not that your required by any means, figured it can’t hurt to offer.” He quickly added before shrugging his shoulders hoping there wouldn't be any speculation it was some hemospectrum induced bullshit demand. Truth be told, Stryke felt compelled to at least try to extend an olive branch of some sort to her. Really he just wanted to dispel that nervous darting look on the orangeblood's face even if it was in her nature. He didn't want her to feel bad for his stupidity. Alternia was just a touch and go environment; lowbloods had every right to be afraid. They were often the ones whom suffered the worst.

Even if he hadn't meant it this way, even though he'd assured her more than once her role in this unexpected meeting was voluntary, Nahori couldn't help but feel as if she really didn't have a choice. It wasn't his fault, he was kind and she did feel a slight edge of comfort in the fact that he'd apologized rather than snapped, but the subservience was hardwired into her upbringing and its hold on her was strong. Clamming up was her best response as she bent to help gather his things, and quite carefully, of course, hoping the move would answer for her where words didn't. Her touch as she worked was as delicate as it might look to be, but she was efficient, and soon she was already scooping the basket into her small arms. Everything would be alright, it was fine, she was calm.
It was then his words finally started to sink in.
"S-Sweets?" It was as if he knew exactly who he was talking to, as if they hadn't just met that night. "I, um, I love them." Shifting the basket in her arms, she gave him a look that was finally, if nothing else, a little less wary. Was he serious? If she helped, would she actually get a reward? Nahori never would have asked for such a thing on her own, and any other time she might actually politely reject his generosity, but sweets were her absolute greatest weakness and it was simply impossible to deny the way her mouth watered some at the thought.
"Ah... W-What kind of sweets?" Any would do, honestly. "If it isn't too much trouble.... I uh, I would l-like some." Mother was no where to be seen, she would probably be cross at Nahori for wandering off and continuing to wander even further, and if she caught her charge eating any sort of dessert things certainly wouldn't be pretty. Still, obeying the request of a troll higher on the hemospectrum had to be enough to earn some brownie points and keep her from suffering too greatly. Even if it wasn't, she was already in too deep to care.

A quick visual estimate of everything being back in the baskets brought a sigh of relief. She'd been delicate if not downright considerate in how she went about her task. Something he was eternally grateful for. Stryke quietly thanked her before nodding his head in the direction they'd be traversing. The look on her face, even if it was only slightly less wary was a welcomed surprise. "i've got a batch of bitter candies made from the herb in the basket you're holding...but horehound is on the bitter side. my persssonal favorites are the ones made out of cactus. they are rather sweet, and chewy however mind you." he shifted the baskets so he could see where he was going. "of course you can have some. i'll grab you some of both to try if you’d like!" he replied with a gentle shrug in agreement. Pausing for a moment he glanced at her in consideration, deciding to trust her for now as they came upon his hive door. He only hoped he wouldn't regret this decision. Setting his baskets down, the yellowblood fussed with the handle before remembering to use his key. While quaint, if not a bit homely, Stryke’s hive had its charms. Everything seemed to have its place. Books of all sorts were stacked up, arranged just so. It also had a few knickknacks scattered about in decoration. The place smelled strongly of tea and books. "where ever is fine for setting that." Stryke was on the move, not looking back at her. He piled his two baskets on an unoccupied section of a table before scampering to his kitchen, dragging out a stool to stand on and rifle around for the promised goods. SkinkDad scuttled away from the kids sensing no danger to his troll, giving neither a moment more of his time. Stryke was quick to come back, offering out two of each of the candies to the meek girl. The cactus was a bright sugary red, while the horehound one was equally as sugary, but brownish in color. He quickly explained which was which, having popped his own piece of cactus candy in his mouth and chewed. "by the way. i'm stryke nvrmor. it’s nice to meet you." he offered politely, even if it was with a small mouthful.

What would a bitter candy taste like? she found herself wondering. Never had she tried such a thing, though she could probably count the number of times she'd had candy on her hands and nothing more. Sweet sounded more her style, so the cactus was certainly an appealing addition, but Nahori was certainly willing to give the horehound treat a try. She didn't want to disappoint him by refusing, of course, but that was only part of it. Curiosity was a strong suit of hers and she was wearing it plain as day right now when she spoke up, "T-Trying both might be, um, nice..." Even if her voice was soft, she was quietly vibrating with an excitement she hadn't felt in a while. Maybe this would be a good night, after all.
When they reached his hive she was very careful to keep away from anything that looked like it could be easily broken, knocked over, or otherwise damaged. The orangeblood had a steady hand on any normal night, but a spooked Nahori was a much less careful one, though not by choice, and she didn't want to take that risk, not when she'd been so graciously invited inside. In fact, though her eye wandered with vigor, she barely made a move except to follow his lead and set down the basket she'd been carrying. Otherwise, her arms were folded in at her sides and she waited for his return with only vague concern on her face.
Guineamom would have a hard time finding her if she was inside, she knew that much, but it was getting more and more difficult to care with each passing second. A small flutter of worry would spike at her stomach for a moment before it faded away, and that had been happening the entire way here, but each occurrence started to feel less and less significant when compared to the last. Surprisingly, she was beginning to relax.
"A-Ah-!" A small, somewhat awkward noise caught in Nahori's throat when her host returned, offering her the candies. They looked so good and she felt so lucky that her chest had swelled with a momentary happiness. Gently, she scooped them from his hands. "Thank you... Thank you so much." He'd warned her the brown one was the bitter one, so she popped it into her mouth first, and immediately made a face, her jaw clenching slightly. It wasn't bad, though, just different, unexpected, and she sighed pleasantly after she finished. "That was, um, so strange, but... It was good, thank you, Stryke. I-I'm, uh, Nahori. Nahori Caviap."
As she tested his name on her tongue, she actually smiled, though faintly. Now for the candy she'd been waiting for, though. Such high hopes for this bright colored confection, it looked so perfect, and it was obvious from the glimmer of her eyes when she began to chew that she more than appreciated the flavor.

True to his nature, playing the role of a doting host was something Stryke could get behind. It was oddly relaxing to fuss over others once they’d crossed the threshold of his domain. Nahori as she called herself happened to be the recipient on that night, his first guest in his new hive and one he'd welcomed in no less. Before he'd come back over to her, Stryke made sure to start a new pot of sweet tea ensuring it would brew and namely steep properly. When both were within arm’s reach, he noticed how she stood still, eyes roaming and darting around the room appraising what things he did own as if they held value as they rightfully deserved. Whoever this girl was, he could appreciate her calm influence, and how she waited patiently for him to come back. Nerves or not, even he found himself relaxing in her presence. He even didn’t mind the brief contact when she scooped the candies from his hand, and let his hands drop at his side without doing something as obscene as wiping his hand on his sweater. While he wasn't exactly sure how the orangeblood would take too either of his concoctions, he didn't blame her one bit when she scrunched her face up some. "that's about how i feel about them too, really." he actually laughed, shrugging his shoulders in response. "they are strange for sure, i just like having a variety on hand." Even his usual nervous tick was falling by the wayside by the time she was gleaming and chewing away at the second red confection. A measure of pride reflected him as he squared his shoulders a bit at her pleased sighs; he’d burned several batches in an attempt to master the art. These had been the first out of many to come that didn’t look nor taste horrid, and thankfully they were acceptable. Tsking thoughtfully he nodded to her, making a brief observation and going out on a limb. "not a problem, no need to thank me. i don't mind sharing really. ah! you prefer sweeter things too i take it! nahori, do you take your tea with a few lumps of sugar or?" he asked casually entering his kitchen again as the pot sounded off rudely cutting him off. Beforehand however, he quickly pulled out a chair out at his rounded table. Without a word, as if he was offering for her to sit if she wished. "oh. by the way, are you new to town?" he asked without looking back, shoving his long hair back over his shoulder as hopped up on his stool again. Pouring each a cup, Ryk plopped exactly three cubes into his intended cup, waiting for her response.

On one hand, Nahori wasn't the type to be picky about sweets, because they were her favorite and so often she pined for just a small taste when Guineamom was looking away. On the other hand, they did taste awfully good, and she'd never met anyone aside from Cerise who made desserts just to make them, though the redblood also had her bakery. It was nice, she had to admit, to find someone with a passion similar to hers. Well, she could only assume it was a passion, he'd never outwardly said so, but he was better at his craft than she, so surely he'd seen fit to put real effort into it.
The charming red candy disappeared in her mouth so much faster than she would've liked, but it had been a pleasant experience for sure, and one she wouldn't forget. It was significant to her, even if it might have seemed small to any other troll. Nahori was a bit embarrassed to admit to herself that she liked being acknowledged, as well, like being asked what she favored or anything about herself really. Though she might not have been the best at expressing it, she was touched he showed any interest in her as anything more than a lowly orangeblood. She pressed her small hands together, deep in thought for a moment. Mother didn't usually drag them as far as Chittentown without some kind of important reason. What if she never saw him again? They had only just met and already the thought saddened her some.
As momentarily lost in her head as she was, she jumped a little when she finally realized he was speaking to her again, and the look that shot to her eyes was wholly apologetic as she rushed awkwardly to take the seat he offered. "I-I don't think I've ever, um, had tea," she admitted as he went to retrieve it, and she fiddled with her hands as she watched his back. "Is it, well, um, is it... good with sugar in it?" Surely it would be, right? That had to be sweet. "I'll try it however you make it."
For a moment she was calming again, forgetting her worries, but then he asked her a simple question and she stiffened, looking down at the table. "I... I'm not from here, we're j-just visiting... Mother, um, wanted to see if things were okay. Y-You know, a-after the drought a-and everything..." Ah, there it was, her troublesome stuttering rearing its ugly head much worse again as she remembered the way she had kept that note from Guineamom, as she realized how upset she would be when she finally found her charge hiding away in a stranger's hive. Oh no, oh no. "I-I've never b-been here before..." Oh, she would be in so much trouble. "I-I hope my lusus i-isn't too upset I g-got lost..." She didn't want to leave, but she was growing more and more nervous that she should be waiting outside where she could be found rather than imposing on this kind yellowblood.

Hearing her retort about never having had tea before made him blink several times, peering back at her. No way. She hadn’t had sweets really before and now tea? Stryke damn near toppled off his stool, flailing briefly in dismay. With a bit of a wobble here and there he managed to plant his weight firmly without making an a** of himself. This was almost unheard of in his books, and made him shake his head. “really...? never? well, i'll fix that. yesss, i prefer it with sugar since there aren't many sweet herbs in the desert.” He huffed indignantly, shrugging his shoulders before chuckling softly as he took her word for it, plopping three cubes in like he'd done for himself. With practiced ease, he stirred them into the hot liquid and carried both cups rather slowly to the table. Stryke passed her one of the ugly white and flower ornate cups he was rather fond of. “careful. it might ssstill be hot, but hopefully it's not too unfriendly to the taste.” Stryke sat besides her, blowing on the dark amber-golden liquid before lifting it up and sipping quietly, contemplating what she'd said beforehand. Oddly, he found himself momentarily sad to hear she wasn't form town it made it less likely they'd have another rendezvous like the one they’d had this afternoon. He'd almost regretted asking her the question when she went rigid. Especially knowing he wasn't the best at returning the gesture. Thankfully, she hadn't inquired (at least nothing he couldn't handle discussing). Weird, did she have some kind of overbearing lusii? Stryke couldn't even imagine how he'd take to his SkinkDad being too fussy over what he did. It would likely drive him nuts he quickly decided. "well, no sense in wasting perfectly good tea. let’s finish here, and i'll walk you back into the market." Reaching into a small box on the table he pulled out another red candy for himself, and her without much thought placed it near her cup. "we'll go find your lusus together alright? and, if she is too upset i'll take the heat mkay?" He added softly in response to her shy stammering, taking a bit of time not wanting to rush either of them although he could note the obvious nervous energy and did not wish to delay too much longer. ”at least that seems reasonable to me anyway?" He added after a moment of chewing on his end and another sip or two as he arched a brow at her. He had a feeling she’d be flustered by the response, but the yellowblood was sticking to his guns. Stryke never backed out on a promise if it could be helped. As gracious as she'd been, it was the least the kid could do. Normally he didn't have much in the way of company, which had been a mixed blessing in disguise. Catering to others came naturally, but the more he thought about it he just generally enjoyed the other young trolls company. If he thought he didn't have much confidence, she really had gotten the short end of the stick. Fitting, given her carrot-like symbol he noted.

No sense in wasting perfectly good tea, he was right, and she certainly wouldn't. It would've been horridly rude to reject the drink now that he'd already made it. Not only that, but oh how curious she was, despite her anxiety, about what it would taste like. Stryke made it with three sugars, just like his own, and she felt momentarily warmed by such a small, silly connection. Or maybe that was simply the steam radiating off of the tea. Maybe both. Pressing her hands delicately to the cup, she let the heat soak into her fingertips.
What a pretty little teacup it was, too, or so she thought even if her opinion might not be a popular one. Mother was very utilitarian in all she did, none of their plates or bowls or silverware were fancy like this and it was a pleasing change of pace to say the least.
"Y-Yes, you're right... I'm sorry for, um, worrying t-too much." Lifting the cup, still clutched between both hands, she blew on it a few times. If the puff of continued steam that fogged her glasses was any indication, it was just a tiny bit too warm. "I would, um, like it if y-you came w-with me." She shouldn't be asking him to go out of his way like this, Nahori knew better, but she didn't want to face Guineamom alone. Making a scene in front of other trolls wasn't usually on her agenda and the orangeblood thought maybe she could get away with a lighter scolding because of it. Of course, she would never ask him to take any blame for her. All this was her fault, no one else's, and mother would never let her live it down if she didn't rightfully own up to it.
Finally, with the tea cooled just enough, she took her first drink. It was unusual, not like anything she'd tasted before now. Unusual and new, but certainly not bad. In fact, it was sweet and soothing and it warmed her chest and stomach with such ease that she felt suddenly like things would be okay. What a nice feeling it was. Before the heat could ebb away entirely, she took another sip.
"It's good, r-really good," she finally noted aloud, taking break from the tea to eat the second cactus candy he'd snuck her at some point. She'd just now noticed, how inconsiderate of her, but she tried not to let self-loathing get in the way of thanking him for his generosity. "I, um... thank you. All of this is... very nice." Lifting the cup to her lips, she tried to hide the small smile as it worked its way back to her face.

Stryke realized very quickly she was worse than he was about apologizing. Without correcting her or much fuss, he gave her his attention as she worked through what she wanted to say. Interrupting her wasn't on the agenda, not when she’d been so kind. Maybe a different troll would have been sassed or snarked at, but not Nahori. At least not until they were on closer terms anyway he decided. "i'm great at worrying too much myself, not that i know exactly how you feel. but it's not completely without reason i figure on your end based on what you've said. especially if you have a lusus who'll give you s**t for not being in her eyesight at all times." His fingers curled around his cup as he listened to her patiently. Really he couldn't know exactly how she felt, that was simply illogical. No one troll and the same experience or upbringing. Still he tried to empathize with her, if only to sooth her discord. If Stryke was bothered, it didn't show in the least. However, when her glasses steamed up he chuckled softly at the sudden disappearance of her eyes behind the steam. “steam vision?” His brief smile past his grumpy demeanor was there. Without spending too much time on the moment he sipped a bit more at the beverage. The fact of the matter being he didn't want to make uncomfortable or hell forbid more self-conscious. With her confirmation at his going he nodded. "aye, i will then for certain then that's fine. even if our meeting was an odd occurrence, it's the least i can do after the help and company." He shrugged some in response as he lifted his cup taking a quick sip of its contents. Stryke didn't see why not to go with especially now. Even if she took her part in the blame, Nahori seemed so skittish as it was. Leaving her to her parental unit's mercy when he'd been the one to invite her inside his hive seemed pretty lousy. "oh! good i'm glad you think so. it's not to everytrolls liking i'm sure." He arched a brow as she continued to thank him another time. Realizing with his last sip he'd ran out of tea. He licked his lips sighing as he leaned back in his seat. "i can't leave you with more goodies if your mother isn't fond of you having stuff...but before we go i can offer my company another time. where-about do you live? if you don't mind my asking that is." He inquired as he hopped down onto the ground, busing is own plate and cup. Stryke left it in the sink without bothering to wash it as he returned to sit with her until she was ready.

The drink, the company, it all appeared to be soothing her frantic nerves once more. The worry didn't completely leave her think pan, it likely never would, but she'd stopped fidgeting in her seat and when she spoke again, the stutter had been reigned in anew.
"I... appreciate it." She swallowed the remnants of her second cactus candy, taking a moment to savor the sweetness on her tongue before she took another sip of tea. The mingling taste of tea and candy was delicious. "Ah, I can see why, I think. It is... different."
It took her a little longer to finish her cup, but her eyes followed Stryke as he set his in the sink and came back to join her again. "New Hemisect," she revealed, took another little drink, then clarified, "The, uh, the plains, actually. But I like to... go to the city, um, as much as I can." Did he mean that, though? Could they really meet again? It made her feel a little better to think so, a little less lonely. She really, really hoped they could.
Now it was her turn to hop down from the chair, cradling the cup just as carefully as before as she took it over to the sink, as well. Mother would've scolded her for not clearing her own dishes, after all. Mother... Nahori felt a lot like the empty cup in that moment, despite her earlier happiness, realizing the tea had been the last thing tying her to this place.
Her time here would come to an end. All good things always did. The orangeblood sighed.
"I-I guess it's time to go..." She didn't return to the table, though she wanted to. Instead, she loitered near the door.

"i go there sssometimes when i want to look at the other library, i'll keep that in mind..we'll for certain have to meet again. i look forward to it." Stryke offered her the semblance of a smile, nodding his head at her in confirmation. She certainly hadn't been awful company, and he couldn't help but feel excited by the notion. Stryke's gaze followed her to the kitchen, he was about to argue she didn't need to rinse her dish but she'd taken care of it before he had a chance. Quietly thanking her, he left the quaint little sitting area to join her by the door. It was evident she was becoming increasingly nervous again. Sighing softly he rubbed the back of his neck. Not that he knew exactly how to comfort her, she was still mostly a stranger to him. "if you are ever in town again, you know where my hive is. here." On a pad of paper on a small end table, he retrieved a pad of paper and pen and jotted down his phone number and address for her, with the understanding she was allowed to contact him again if she wished. Once that was done, he opened the door for her, holding it as he offered to let her go first. The night air of the desert gave him pause. With a brief shiver once he was outside, he stood in the foyer glancing back inside. "dad, i'll be back ssshortly." There was only a hiss in response, but no sign of the reptile-lusus. It seemed to satisfy Stryke for a response; because he closed the door locking it with his key and slipping it back inside. "alright, let's sssee if we can find your mom. what does she look like?" He turned to face her, a curious tilt of his head at her regarding her demeanor all the while, listening to her.
