"Silver." Ananchel said conversationally. "Why am I here?"
Silver looked back, and frowned. The weather was cool, but warm enough that she wore only a thin jacket, no barrier against the hormonal temperature. Adjusting her grip on Ein (why did children weigh so much?) she shrugged.
"If you're starting with your phiolosophical talk already." she said wearily. "Can I get some coffee first?"
Ananchel frowned, waving her hand. "I mean." she said. "Why do I have to be here, with you, when you're going shopping for shoes? Why do you need so many pairs of shoes? It's a sin, you know."
Silver waited in the streets, about to cross when she frowned. "Huh?"
At the blank reaction, Ananchel shook her head. Did her ward not know anything? Wracking up debt because of the next 'it' shoe, working like a slave for a month and then repeating the process? Ananchel had presumed humans had more sense then this. No wonder they had to be saved.
"And what about Ein? Does a baby who outgrows clothing at such an alarming rate really need a pair of pink shoes?"
Silver nodded her head. "Of course." she said. "Everyone needs pink shoes."
Right in the middle of town, Silver crossed to the other side, taking heed not to slip on the wet patches of pavement. It wasn't too crowded yet, but then-- no many people had the addiction to go shopping at ten thirty in the morning.

"We need something that won't be torn apart within MINUTES." Andraste growled and moved through the streets watching the shopping windows. A blue boy was situated in her arms and was busily chewing on a rubber toy, which he occiasionally threw on the ground.
The mother sighed and tried to keep him from destroying her own clothes, which of course resulted in same kind of strange dance. She wasn't so fond of this baby, he wasn't as easy as the other kids.
"Stop it, Otieno. STOP IT !" She called out and literally bumped into somebody close to her, who was also holding a strange looking baby. "Sorry !"
Otieno instead threw the toy at Ein to make a proper greeting.

Ein was the one to react first.
But because Silver's was quieter, it was easier to notice.
"Oh, I'm sorry." Silver said, bracing herself automatically by tugging on Ananchel's shoulder. Looking up for a brief moment, the blue shade of the baby caught her attention before...
Ein shrieked. She had been settling in very well to this new outfit she was wearing, and Silver's grip on her had strengthened. The girl didn't seem like she was going to drop her any second soon. And so, everything had been fine until something bouncy and hard was thrown into her face. She shrieked, letting her displeasure be known as she stared at the root of her problem.
"Oh." Silver paused. "I'm sorry?" she said, uncertain. Did she have to apologize for the baby as well now?

Otieno grinned at the other one, quite well noticing that she was a female just like Nila, his sister. He liked to tease them, o yes he did.
Andraste glared at him with anger before she turned to Silver. "Nah, I'm the one that has to be sorry." Facing the blue chuckling boy again she continued. "Throwing rubber duckies at people isn't nice, Otieno."
Somehow the baby didn't seem to comprehend. "I hope she's not hurt. Is she...ok ?" Watching the girl's features Andraste noticed that the other baby looked just as strange as Otieno. At least she wasn't a criminal baby and nerve racking as well.

Ein continued to stare. Was this boy laughing at her? Ooooh. She promptly stopped shrieking, scrunching up her face in annoyance. The two tiny snakes in her hair seemed to shift with the baby's change in mood, peering forewords as they hissed lightly.
"And breaking your guardian's ear drums isn't nice either, Ein." Silver said lightly. She knew, vaguely, why the child had been sent here to be reformed as a criminal. But honestly, sometimes Silver had to wonder. Maybe she'd burst someone's eardrums, and that was why she was being punished?
If Silver ruled the world, she would punish someone for just that.
Ananchel slid a quick glance towards Silver, almost as is sensing the nonense going through her ward's head. "Ein is fine. She's endured wo--" Ananchel paused. Well. Maybe that wasn't the right thing to say to a stranger. "Otieno, is it? He is certainly... striking." she commented.
Silver grinned. Oh boy, her seraphim and her subtleties.

As suddenly something moved inside the girl's hair Otieno's jaw dropped and revealed a pair of sharp teeth. Woo, she had living things ! This could definitely make up for his lost rubber ducky. She was very interesting indeed, perhaps she could be useful for his plan ?
Imitating her scrunched face he tried to make some communication. "Aghaa."
Andraste grinned as she heard Silver's words and nodded in agreement. "Well, indeed. They should consider that they want to be listened to later in life."
Shifting the boy so he couldn't fall off her arms, the woman turned to Ananchel. What was he trying to say ? Endured what ? A slight frown appeared on her forehead, but it melted away as quickly as it had come. This wasn't of her business, anyway.
"Yup, Otieno. He is striking believe me. That's probably because he's not from here...a bit different as you see." Pointing at his teeth Andraste sighed. It had been Ranjit's freaking idea to get the criminal, she wasn't fond of this at all.
"Ein has got some pretty clothes. We were looking for some durable material. Do you know a good shop ?"

Aghaa? Such a great, profound word to use! Ein continued to stare, and then she wrinkled her nose. In another show of spastic mood swings, she beamed at the child, reaching out with her hands. Look, he talked!
"Not from around here?" Silver blinked. Well, Andraste seemed more normal compared to the child, and she hadn't included her self in the description. "Is he adopted? Ein is."
Ananchel smirked. Silver would have a field day if anyone thought she had actually _had_ the baby. She was, for a college student, so sensitive to 'child bearing hip' remarks and the like. Stupid girl.
At the question, Silver shrugged. Durable? Oh, dear. She should have thought of that before buying Ein a dress. What if Ein didn't want to wear the dress? It was so pink and poofy and pretty.. will little lace ribbons at the color....
"I'm sorry, I can't help you there." Silver was still lost in thought. If Ein ate the dress, could she get a refund? Maybe dry cleaning would fix it... "I'm still in the phase of 'dress the kid in everything _you_ want, while they can't fight too hard'" she grinned.

Otieno studied the girl's face and was extremely impressed by something inside her hair. She seemed to be happy now, she liked talking ? His mouth didn't allow him to form useful sentences though, he had tried several times. It didn't make sense.
Frowning hardly he still tried to say something sensible. Ein ? Was that her name ? "E-...Ei...Ein." The baby pronounciated pretty wrong.
"Yeah, he is. It was the person-I-live-with's idea. He's from an organization called IRZS...no...wait...IRSC ? no..." Scratching her head the mother sighed as Otieno tried to wiggle closer to the girl and almost fell out of her arms.
Wondering if she ever had been into that phase Andraste listened to the words and had to grin. She hated pink. It took her quite a bit to respond politely. "Otieno destroys usual clothes much too quickly. So I was looking for something like a raincoat ?" It sounded strange, nobody dressed their kids in plastic.
As the baby mentioned the other girl's name though she stared at him in shock. "NO ! Don't talk !"

That was her name, wasn't it? Yep. Although she's been called many things... Ein didn't like half the things that woman called her. (Who likes being called brat? And messy? And pooper? Who likes being called pooper?!) so she wriggled, clapping her hands in delight and bouncing up and down in Silver's arms.
Silver, half between trying to pay attention (she was NOT going to drop the baby, dammit! She hadn't dropped her yet!) to Ein and to Andraste, frowned. "Is it a criminal relocation thing? With a man who happens to be at a spa?" Just like Silver to remember the... ah... important things. "And a yellow girl? Because we adopted Ein from there as well." Silver grinned. "That was Ananchel's way of making me into a good samaritan..." she rushed over the last word, knowing that she had probably mispronounced it.
Silver frowned. "Why? Aren't babies supposed to talk? Although..." okay, fine. That baby scared her. No way in damn she was letting it come near her fingers. Or toes. Thank goodness she didn't have any other dangly bits. How did babies like that _feed_ when newborn? "Maybe it's better if the noise makes sense?" she asked hopefully.
Please say yes, she thought.

Otieno just grinned in satisfaction as he saw Ein's face and Andraste's horror. He loved to tease her, the baby knew very well that she wasn't quite fond of him. Did she think he was stupid just because he was encaged in this body ?
Andraste frowned. "Well, I wasn't there, but my...male person...he told me about it being a criminal relocation thing and a yellow girl. Never heard anything about a spa." She shrugged, but was finally interested in Ein. "That's interesting. Is she as troublesome as Otieno ?"
Trying to keep the boy to dig his nails into her flesh Andraste winced. "Well...do you have any other children ? When my oldest son started to talk it only became...more...exhausting." She tried to express it as nicely as possible and hoped the others wouldn't think she was a bad mother. She wasn't, Andraste only announced her opinion.

Ein made grabbing notions, pausing as she wrinkled her nose. The snake in her hair hissed in reply, and she scowled again. What was that thing in front of her?
Hmmm... Ein wondered if he bited...ed. Bitededed. Giggling by herself (she was remarkably good at keeping her self company), Ein paused, wrinkled her nose and streeetched~ to reach the boy again.
"Troublesome?" Silver frowned, and nodded her head empathically. "but she's my only child, so I suppose everything is all relative." she smiled quickly. "Other children It must be..."
Well.
"Terrifying." she said before she could really think about it. Wasn't it? "Ein is okay, I suppose. She likes me..."
Ein shot her a look of amusement.
"...and listens to me when she wants to."

Watching the hissing snake with interest Otieno managed to grab Ein's hand as Andraste accidently made a step forward. Now they were bonded...what now ?
Trying to remember his meeting with Autsu he wondered if hugging or touching was a good thing. So as usual Otieno decided to do nothing before the other one hadn't reacted.
"Only child ! It's all different then." Andraste smiled friendly and watched Otieno's strange attempts to reach the other baby. "I suppose he doesn't like me, but he's alright with Ranjit." She sighed and wondered if it possibly was her own fault.

Ein beamed. Look, touch! Far as she could remember, (and she had been given a lot of time to remember), Ein couldn't remember another kid being so friendly to her before. Peeking at the blue hand in interest, (it was blue! Look! She could color that with paper in the future!) she paused.
But, being a baby, she was over come with baby urges.
"Not like you?" Silver sounded honestly puzzled by this, and then by the odd munching noises. What was...
"EIN!" Ananchel said loudly, alarmed.
Ein looked up from where she continued to gnaw on the hand. She didn't have her teeth yet, and look-- it fit! Kind of. She could only gnaw on the knuckles, and in the process drooled over over the hand.
Hehehe. It was soft up here~~

Otieno's mouth formed an O as Ein tried to swallow his hand. Luckily he knew this kind of game and giggled, because her non-existant teeth tickled his knuckles. The boy knew that he couldn't do it, because his teeth seemed to hurt people. He liked to punish Andraste and Nila, but he didn't know about Ein.
"Ein." He repeated proudly.
"No, he's not fond of my company..." Andraste answered and actually started to giggle as she noticed the disappearing hand. "Seems like he enjoys being sucked on." The woman grinned.
"What about those snakes in her hair ? Do they bite ?"

Gnawing determinedly, Ein blinked when she heard her name being said again. Why, look at this! He liked saying her name... which was good, because she really liked hearing it.
"Uh huh." Silver said, scowling at the memory. "They... it..." she? "Well, they don't like being washed, and..." Silver shrugged. "I've got scars from that episode." she said, grinning empathically.
Ananchel sighed. Her ward and her dramatics... it was a wonder that she was studying history, instead of theater arts.
"I'm sorry. I'm Silver. This is Ananchel. And... would you like to sit down somewhere, for something to drink? It's the first time I've come across another criminal baby, and... well. I'm still not used to carrying Ein for so long."
The words left her mouth in a rush, and Ein beamed.
Sit down? Whee!
