Name: Daelin
Race: Pure Leaf
Gender: Boy
3 Base Traits: Arrogant, charismatic, independent
Personality:
Virtues:
Independent: Daelin has never been the helpless sort. From a very young age he's managed to strike out on his own and do things for himself. He's accomplished his independence due to his drive to be able to function as a single entity, rather than leech off of someone or something else. As a result, he's not going to bother anyone for help on a project, or beg someone to drive him somewhere. He'd more than likely be the person subjected to said begging.

Intuitive: Body language betrays eyes and words. Daelin knows enough to pick up on these subtleties. On occasion he's known to pick up on the key traits and use that to his advantage. If someone talks to him with arms crossed, he knows they don't trust him and he works to fix that accordingly. It may not be the case, and he's not always accurate, but he does take great pains to read people as best he can. After all, how is he supposed to tantalize someone with his excellent personality if he can't even discern whether they're in the mood to even speak with him?

Charismatic: He lives to beguile and captivate people. Most of his charisma lies in his diction, and occasionally in his actions, but he prefers to do so subtly rather than open with an obvious act like bringing someone flowers. With such a strong personality, he already commands the attention of his audience, but with a little persuasion and natural charm, he can mete out some followers of the crowd.

Flaws:
Arrogant: Daelin may be confident, but he's confident without limitation. Such glorious self-confidence can come off as complete arrogance, and it's a fairly accurate assumption. To be frank, Daelin is totally full of himself. He knows he's the best there is, and he loves to demonstrate that to others. Unfortunately, others don't really appreciate the massive displays of preening and flaunting his talents. Sometimes his arrogance is abrasive, and drives people away, and Adrian just doesn't know how to keep his exorbitant amounts of confidence to himself sometimes.

Temperamental: He alternates between moods often. One moment he might be excited, though the next he'll end up somewhere near depressed. These are usually precipitated by minor changes, sometimes infinitesimally so. It presents an annoyingly unpredictable nature to dealing with Daelin. One can't reliably instigate a change in him; what worked before to liven his mood again may not work now. There's simply no way around it - dealing with Adrian entails dealing with his unpredictable mood swings.

Hard to Please: Due to his independent nature, he's learned to do a lot of things himself. From defending himself, to cooking, Daelin knows how to survive on his own. Because of this, accomplishments made by others appear rather worthless to him. If someone tries to bring up their recent successes with him, he'll brush them off without a second thought. He'll often snub any talk of minor accomplishments, and rarely he might explain that it hardly counts as a success. He'll tell that person to try harder, to shoot for loftier goals. Come back later when you have something real to brag about.

History:
For as long as Daelin could remember it had always been mom and him. The lived in a very tiny village. He can't even remember the name of it if you asked him. His mom had never hid the fact she loved his father with everything she was. He asked about him all the time and the responses have never stopped. Through asking questions he learned his dad had been part of a rogue band at one point. They didn't like him leaving and so there was an attack one night while he was coming home from the fields. His dad worked as a farmer since he left for the life of a wife and child. His father died in that attack that night, much to the devastation of Daelin's mother and himself.

Life was good until Daelin turned five. That summer he'd come home before the sun set from playing in a creak, and he found his mother lying on the floor of their home, not moving. He was to young to realize she was breathing, but he ran crying to the neighbors that his mother had died. With their they got her to a doctor and after some tests, they realized that she had a terrible illness that didn't have a cure. It rendered her immobile because of the pain she was in. Her muscle just started deteriorating. Eventually Daelin learned to fend for himself. He hated going to the neighbors and asking for food or something. That's when he developed his independent streak. He learned how to care for her, feed her, cook for her, bathe her. He had to play her mom. The nights where he couldn't comfort her pain absolutely killed him.

The winter he turned eleven Daelin's mother died. From there he left. He didn't want to stay in the village he grew up in and he started to wander. Since then, he's been doing whatever odd jobs he can for coin, or protection, but he will never ask for a hand out.

For months Daelin didn't talk after his mother died. He was inconsolable in a different way than wailing and crying. He was truly alone, with no siblings and no family to take him in. Though he wandered, he avoided people. He had a dream one night, where his mother came to him. She held him tightly in this dream and told him to start accepting people again, to try to make friends. She apologized for leaving him so soon, for making him take care of her the way he'd done. Daelin woke up sobbing into his bed. That was the first time he'd ever cried for her. He cried for several days in a row and then slept for one full day.

When he woke up, Daelin fixed himself one of the meals he'd fixed for his mother. He ate it slowly and then gathered all his energy and strength to get out of bed and start wandering. There's not a day that goes by that he doesn't think about her. If he thinks he's truly alone at night, Daelin will whisper to her, tell her about his adventures. He says he's sorry because his personality makes it hard to make friends, but he is trying.

Alright, I'ma take a whack at it.

Soooooooooo~

I only have a minor thing:

There could be an interesting clash of personality between his base traits and flaws: Charasmatic----> Hard to Please and Tempermental. It will take a good deal of balance to pull off his character; just be cautious. Does this interfere with him making/ keeping friends? Do you see him developing friendships and holding to them? I imagine it would be easy to draw them in with his charisma, but I see his flaws as a good deterent to get too close.

Other than that... He's a tricky mix of Gaddok and Tafiir, so naturally I love him<3. Let me know if you want rp. I am slow to reply but I don't generally run a month behind, and I'm working in a comeback D< '14 Holiday season is awful and muse killing...

He uses it as a deterrent and as a way to keep friends, honestly. He's a bit of a manipulator by nature.

So far so good :] The only other question I have is how does he personally handle his mother's illness and then death? Is he angry that he has to be her caretaker at such a young age (or happy to do it, sad, frightened)? Does he think about her often now that she's gone? Things like that.

Added a couple of paragraphs about that.
