Otto finally received a text. He wasn't sure if he wanted to go through with this. Ear piercings were one thing. He could take them out when he felt like it. Change them up. A tattoo would be as is forever. But then again, so were scars. He would much rather have art on his skin than glaring, angry scars.

So, braving the uncertainty, Otto braved the journey to Zac's room.

He knocked on the door, then tested the knob to let himself in.

The door swung open easily, Zac was in a chair by his desk, the bed was doubled up, one stacked on another with the lower covered in towels and having a cheep as s**t desk lamp pointing at it, just in case.

Zac was pinning his hair back from his face, blue-to-purple dyed streaks were already showing black at the roots again, which was disappointing. He didn’t want to think about trying to get it re-done, but at the same time he wasn’t sure he could imagine going back to just flat black, when the color at least, made him feel like he’d clawed his way into individuality, but no one would know that unless he shared.

“Hey! Welcome to the lion den, eh?” He grinned.

“Ready to see the design?”

Otto gave a stiff nod, nervously surveying the room. "Yep. S'why I'm here." He murmured, finding a spot to sit down.

Zac nodded with an eager, if nervous look on his face and sorted through his papers before handing over several sheets, the designs varied from page to page but in each case they not only covered the scars, they moved with the shapes of them, making a flow and ebb of ink and patterns that not only nodded to Otto's weapon, but also something primal and very 'island'.

Otto took the designs, looking them over carefully. It was more than he could have imagined. When he'd tried making something, it was a bandaid in comparison to this. This would turn out making his scars into art.

"Woah..." He murmured, impressed and staring at one design in particular.

"You can do this now?" He asked hopefully, holding up the paper. He was tired of hoping that one day his scars would go away. It would never happen. But this was something he could decide on and make happen. Change of his own will.

The enthusiasm, he’d hoped for SOME but asking for it –now- took him off guard.

“I…I can start it.” He nodded. “If you want the colors mixed in, I need to do the outlines…like here, and then you should come back. It will just…it’ll prevent the inks from mixing, I mean, I think that would still happen even with the weapons and what they do. But you’d be done a lot faster for healing so… you’d have some pretty sweet turn around time.”

“You should be sure though, like…. really sure. This is like Ta Moko, it’s with you as long as you live.”

The look in Otto’s eyes said he was serious, fervently so… but he had a duty to make sure.

"Lines are fine. Whatever needs to be done." Risk taking was just going to be a normal thing now. Tip toeing and pushing down his curiosities were no longer an option. His life now was one where he could be gone at any moment. Screw pretending he had a life beyond a few years.

"I wouldn't have agreed to a tattoo if I wasn't serious." Otto affirmed. He'd not have wasted time trying to think of designs if he wasn't.

Zac hesitated a moment and then nodded.

“Off with the shirt then… you’re going to be here a while.” He waved his hand.

“… is your shirt clean? I’ll loan you one if its even a little ‘extra used’ ok? And…you need to pick how you want this done.
He picked up two tools, one was a…chisel of sorts, bone and wood and primitive with many points, the other was… more familiar, the tattoo machine so often called a ‘gun’, compete with runes but never the less more familiar.

“This…” He waved the ‘primitive’ tool, is how most of mine were done. It’s very traditional for us, I don’t …offer it a lot but I’m offering It to you. It makes deep marks, it normally makes…a raised pattern.”

He then raised the other slightly… “Smoother, honestly hurts less. Nothing I designed for you isn’t doable with either, but it’s a big choice for the overall finished feel of your design.”

He hesitated.

“… actually I’m not sure how much you remember of mine, gotta be honest.”

Otto stalled a moment, but pulled off his shirt soon enough. "Of course my shirt is clean." Otto grumbled with a scoff, tossing it to the side.

Otto looked between the tools. He wanted to be tough, and say pain was no issue with him. However, that chisel looking tool looked a little too primitive. He did not like the idea of designs being chiselled into his flesh.

"No offence to your culture, but I think I'll go with the gun." Nice and traditional. Plus he liked the appeal of a smooth tattoo.

"Yours.... kinda blurry. Don't remember the details too good." He tried not to think about it too much, as he was not supposed to have done it to begin with.

“It is NOT…Oh...right” He started to register an indignant protest about the quality of his rather prolific tattoo design, then realized that the ‘fuzzy’ had nothing to do with the quality, and more to do with the nature of the night.

“Be offended if you want about the shirt, but I have seen some…serious s**t people tried to put back on over their nice newly needled and bleeding skin. You do NOT want an infected tattoo.” He shook his head and shuddered slightly at the thought.

“Ok… I’m going to do some set up with the ink, but you… are going to use this.” He handed Otto a disposable razor and some soapy solution in a bottle.

“You’re going to start shaving everywhere that gets a design.”

He flashed an evil grin.

“Yes, I mean it. I’ll help as soon as I get this ready.” He nodded.

Normally he did that all but, he thought leaving some in Otto’s control would be a good thing.

"Oh.. well, like. I think it's clean?" Otto shrugged, eyeing his discarded shirt with scrutiny.

Otto stared at the razor with disappointment. "I don't... have any hair." Was Zac making fun of him? He didn't actually wants body hair like burly men did, but still!

Zac would have done Mister Spock quite proud with the arched eyebrow athat met Otto's declaration.

He stood, moved to fish, rather rudely, in Emelina's things and pulled out a pair of tweezers.

He walked rather calmly towards otto, leaned close, squinted a little...pinned...SOMETHING between the tweezers and -yanked-

"...even if you can't see them." He said earnestly.

"...You have hair."

"Yowch!" Otto winced, slapping a hand where a teeny tiny hair had been plucked. He looked up at Zac with a scandalized glare. With a huff, he turned away from the offender. Looked like he'd be shaving after all.

"Only time I ever had to shave was that time I got slapped with a magical glove that gave me a beard." He grumbled to himself.

Zac honestly had no idea what to say about…beard slapping gloves. That was …that was a very new concept and he didn’t really know how to grasp that.

“…Beard, slap… glove.” He said and shook his head slowly.

“That, that is a new one. Slightly less intimidating than crazy Haunted house b***h, but… but VERY different.”

"You run into all kinds in there." Otto murmured, recalling the situation with a wince. "She kicked me in the balls with steel toe boots right after. It was a bad day."
