Personality:
Saoirse is a very active, athletic type of girl. Never the type to be able to stay still and quiet for too long, she feels most comfort when she's doing something, anything. This has both upsides and downsides. Constantly full of energy, Saoirse is almost always up for playing a game, going for a run, and wandering about outside. She loves to play games, especially physical ones like tag or soccer. Often she'll come home happily covered in scraps and dirt from playing rough. On the other hand, she gets bored easily if she has to stay still and focused for too long which makes concentrating on some psychic activities or academic classes a bit more difficult. Saoirse is the kid whose mind starts to wander, or begins to tap out rhythms with her pencil after 20 minutes.
Particularly, Saoirse likes hands-on activities like building things or speed activites. She likes getting her hands dirty, and likes building items out of clay. Making sculptures is one of the few activities that gets her to stay put. Beyond that, Saoirse likes to feel the rush of speed. She'll jump at the chance to run, swim, or even better skate.
In case of boredom, Saoirse is usually well prepared for times when she is forced to wait. Her phone is fully of time wasting apps and her pockets are often full of little toys or a deck of cards. A deck of cards is usually with her no matter what; never know when you might need something to entertain yourself or others. Wasting time between class or for a friend to show up? Saoirse will play a short round of solitaire... until she gets bored playing alone. Everyone knows a card game, and Saoirse relies on games as ice breakers to rope in just about anyone to playing with her.
If anyone wears their heart on their sleeve, it is definitely Saoirse. She's expressive, and easily communicates her feelings. She makes zero effort to hide how she feels or what she thinks, whether that is happiness or anger. See her bouncing up and down and squealing like a little girl? Yeah, Saoirse is excited. Her poker face is just terrible, if she has bad cards, you can tell; if she's smiling and her eyes go wide, yeah you should fold. Saoirse is terrible with bluffing. Anyone can read her like an open book, and even if you don't want to know how's she's feeling and doing, you'll probably hear about anyways. While she's expressive and easy to read, it's not always necessary to read her body language as Saoirse is also very honest. She doesn't keep many secrets and will tell it like it is as tactfully as she can.
Saoirse is exceptionally comfortable with herself and who she is. Some might call it being confident, but Saoirse thinks of it more as being accepting of herself. Physically speaking, she's comfortable with her own skin. She will wear whatever she pleases, and no one can convince her not to. This also extends to her being comfortable and at ease in situations that others might find embarrassing. Ripped a hole her pants? So what, at least she was wearing underwear. Violent, gory or scary movies don't phase her too much; what's a little blood, everyone has it. She's just as comfort around boys as she is girls. Mentally speaking, she's definitely confident. Saoirse doesn't need to be told she's awesome to know she's awesome. If someone were to list all her bad qualities, Saoirse would likely shrug it off and think that person simple doesn't know well enough.
While's she's honest and confident, she also appreciates harmony within her social circle. Saoirse is a diplomatic person, always willing make a compromise if it means everyone is happy. Rarely does she set out with the desire to hurt anyone. She makes an effort to stay on friendly terms with most people. If she has a problem with someone, she goes about remedying it by (trying to) tactfully stating her point of view and acknowledging others until they come to an accord. If someone is unwilling to bend, Saoirse will compromise a fair amount until whatever issue is smoothed over.
She does have her limits however, and that is usually with those who are unwilling to given in whatsoever or those who are constantly and unnecessarily rude (why would anyone want to hang around someone that's always awful? Saoirse will pass the time as best she can and then never again). Everyone needs to make compromises, and Saoirse if often willing to given up a lot of her own needs/wants in order to make other people happy. But she won't give up everything. She needs to be met at least 1/8 of the way, otherwise there's no point in trying to be friendly if the other person can't reciprocate at all.
History:
Father: Connor Adair (psychic, telekinesis/ aura reading/ hypnosis, psychologist)
Mother: Maya (St. James) Adair (non-psychic, travel agent)
Brother: Killian Adair (16) (psychic, chlorokinesis)
Saoirse's parents met prior to her father taking a vacation. Connor Adair is Irish-born and came to states as an foreign exchange student. Connor went to an Californian university for a master's seminar in psychic based psychology as part of a psychology degree. He choose the school and class not for it's location, but for the instructor, a rumored psychic and inactive psychonaut. It was in this class that Connor started to build a friendship with the professor. As the course work grew more and more demanding, Connor became overwhelmed being focused entirely on academia. The professor strongly encouraged that Connor use a spring break to unwind and travel a little. Prof. Hollow gave him the number of a little travel agency he used. When Connor called up, he was greeter by the sweet voice or Maya, who excitedly told him about some package deals. Entranced by her voice, Connor went to the office and bought into the first cruise she recommend.
While on his cruise, Connor couldn't help but think of the woman who sold him on it. As soon as he came back to town, he was popped back into the office to seek guidance on another trip. Instead he walked out with a date and the rest was history.
The Adair family have had a relatively calm life. Connor Adair became a psychologist, with a particular interest in helping psychic clients. Maya Adair continued to be a travel agent, but after having children went to part-time so she could take care of the family. As her children have been getting older, Maya has started branching out as a painter as well. The Adair's were blessed with two psychic children, Killian and Saoirse.
Saoirse is the second and last child of the Adair family. Her brother, Killian, is a few years older and had attended Majesco, developing his own powers. Both children developed their powers around 11-12. As the second psychic child, Saoirse benefited from watching her older brother go through enrollment. What to do when her powers started showing was a complete no brainer by then. At 16, Saoirse was old enough to go to boarding school and learn how to use her geokinesis without too much worrry on her parent's part..
Growing up, Saoirse lived like her brother's shadow, always following him around and interested in doing whatever he was doing. If Killian went to the park, Saoirse wanted to go too. Killian played hockey, Saoirse pouted if she had to sit on the sidelines and watch, as she desperately wanted to join in. Never a girly-girl as a child, she refused to wear dresses and got her hair cut short so she could be more like him.
When Killian started to develop chlorokinesis, Saoirse watched in awe as he manipulated plants or made the grass grow tall enough to hide in. Trying desperately to copy him, Saoirse did what was so difficult for her and actually sat still for a whole hour trying to make a sunflower turn away from the sun. Bitter disappointment followed when she couldn't.
Then Killian went off to Majesco at 15, and suddenly Saoirse was without her idol. She had no one at home to attempt to copy, no one to bother and hang around. Her automatic playmate was gone, and this crushed her a little. Sure, she had school friends to hang out with, but none of them could make a spider plant wiggle its leaves. She was bored. In an attempt to cheer her up, her parents took her to a disco roller rink. Prior to it being open for regular public, Saoirse caught the end of a roller derby team practice. She watched them be speed demons, zooming around and knocking into each other. This young, impressionable mind instantly latched onto their coolness; new idols were found. When Saoirse finally got onto the rink, she didn't want to dance and glide around with the other kids, she just wanted to zoom from end to end as fast as she could.
So started her love of roller skating. While many kids her age were into skateboarding, Saoirse had nothing against it, she preferred to propelled herself with each foot rather than a board. It was while skating that her geokinesis began to show. Saoirse went out skating along the boardwalk the day after a rough storm. The path was littered with debris washed up from waves. Sand was all over and rocks were all over the place. Saoirse wasn't about to let a little sand stop her through. Easily she skated around whatever was in her way. It was all well and fine until she went down a steep hill. At first, Saoirse enjoyed the rush of wind as she sped downwards.
That was until she saw the mound of moved sand and rocks that blocked the path at the bottom. If she wasn't careful, she was going to crash right into it. Prepared to fall face first into, Saoirse put up her hands. Then to her surprise she watched the sand and rocks part in front of her. She just kept skating straight through on a clear path. Shocked, and a little bit in disbelief at what happened, Saorise stopped to see if she could move other objects, like her father could. She tried a plastic bottle, nope. A wooden sign? No, not that either. She tried the sand again, and gleefully watched the sand move around. Scooping up a handful of sand, Saoirse rushed home to show off what she could do to her parents.
While her parent's were aware of the benefit of sending their only daughter off to learn more at camp or school, they were eager to hang onto their youngest baby a little while longer. Saoirse didn't mind attending regular middle school; she got to join a youth roller derby team and be on school teams for various sports.r She grew into her own, but he powers never seemed to flourish without formal training, they were more like interesting tricks. As she got to a high school age though. Her brother was just finishing school, showing off all that he had learned. This kicked back to her old sibling awe of her brother. If Killian got to go, it was only right that now it was her turn.
