The night air was cold against the older mare’s coat. She had been traveling for a while now away from her family’s homeland and she couldn’t believe her brother was still the same as always. He hadn’t changed at all though she was shocked to find out he had a batch a children while she was away doing her duties. She never pegged him the type for kids at all, but then again she was the same way. She didn’t want them and if she did have them she would raise them all to be warriors. She wouldn’t want any weak children and she wouldn’t tolerate it either. Her father was pretty strict on all his kids especially when it came to being weak. Their one brother, Judas, wasn’t a warrior at all. He chose a different path and eventually it drove him to be fanatical, but it took their father a long time to let him be who he was. She grew up under a very strict upbringing and chose to be a warrior. She was never the type for being proper or not getting her hooves dirty. No, she enjoyed adventure.

It was really the only thing that kept her sane. If she had to stay cooped up like the other mares in the herd did, she would have lost her mind by now. She loved sparing and getting blood all over her blackened coat. It was one of the most thrilling things she ever experienced. It was one of the reasons why she took so many trips out into the deep parts of the world. Parts that many didn’t venture to. She was always seeking battles that were hard. She was always seeking things that were challenging. It was who she was. She was always the best at what she did. Never did she fail and she knew she wouldn’t no matter the circumstance. There was never room for failure. Not in her world.

Coming to a halt, the mare glanced around the field; her long mane blowing in the night breeze and giving off a shine when the moonlight hit it. She was gorgeous to many. Her father had set her up with many bachelors before and she gave all of them a run for their money. She wasn’t a mare to mess with. She had high standards for her mate and all of them were anything but that.

“Nothing like usual.” She said in a deadpan tone. She never showed emotions and it had been this way since she was a little filly. Whenever she would giggle or smile, her father would strike her down.

Warriors are supposed to be strong and emotionless. Emotions are weakness.

The words still rung in her ears like poison.

Flicking her spiked tail, the mare wandered across the plain remembering painful experiences of the past. Things that kept filling her mind all the time. It’s what made her who she was and she would never forget any of it.

”Dad! I can’t do it! I won’t ever be a good warrior like my other siblings…”

“It’s father…not dad and you will if you keep trying. You wanted this. You wanted this life so you are going to have to endure all the pain and hardships. Don’t give up and keep going. If you give up then you will never be strong.”

“But what if I fail?”

“Failure is not an option. There is no failure. Only success. Now again! Ram the tree until you uproot it!”

“Yes father!”

She could still remember that day as if it was yesterday. She spent days bashing into that tree until it finally toppled over. She was bruises and cut open for a week, but she suffered through it. She had to. Eventually she lost all her emotions and lived a solitary life, going on various trips to fulfill her duties. ‘Duties’ being various quests or missions she set out for herself to accomplish. She would never say she had an easy life, but it was a life she would never exchange for another.

She continued on. Hoping the night would turn into something good before she went back home though part of her had a feeling something was approaching. She didn’t know what, but she had her guard up in case she needed to kill something.

Then the wind shifted causing her to catch the scent of another.

She stopped and turned her head looking at the stallion approaching.

She was in no mood for games.

Also just fyi, Dani is probably as big as Gabriel, whom is a giant compared to most. They come from a big family so they are all rather large and she stands about a inch over her other sister. So she will probably be bigger then Nishant. Not sure by how much though. xD
