 There was definitely no one around to tell Quiryn what it was that he could expect with coming into a new land. The stallion's hooves crunched through the thin layer of ice that lay over top of the snow. He cursed softly as the chilled air against his delicate wings caused him mild discomfort. There was nothing he could do to warm himself up besides continue moving. The idea of staying in one location and denning over the cold months was unthinkable. He needed to explore this new area thoroughly to determine if it was a viable enough place to live.
Quiryn snorted softly in annoyance. His muzzle came down to the layer of snow and he idly set to clearing a small patch of the white material away. At the same time though he was enjoying the moisture that the powdered snow provided. What was this place?

It had been a long journey for the Flutter stallion. Quiryn had set out in the middle of autumn from his old home and had, for the best of his ability, crossed into these lands near the start of winter. He had been trying to keep in motion during the warmer parts of the day and denning in small caves or thickets during the night and colder days. His wings were fragile and if they become too cold would be permanently damaged. He would not be able to deal with the loss of flight. Traveling during the winter also caused him to remain on the ground. There was no way that he could risk flying.
Raising his head from his brief, yet needed drink, Quiryn cast his gaze to scan the horizon before shivering. He would need to find shelter soon for the night. This new land was full of surprises. Quiryn wanted to explore each and every one of them that he stumbled across.

The stallion stumbled across the wet rocks that barred his way forward. Dislodged from his den earlier in the day by an irate individual the stallion had not bothered to stay any longer. Instead he pushed forward. Although there was still a bite to the air that swept through his mane the weather had definitely warmed up enough that he could now travel at night if he so wished to; although Quiryn took extreme caution when he did this as the night hid many a danger. For now though the sun shone down and reflected off the water right back into his eyes. Blinded by the sudden brightness Quiryn’s jerked his head up quickly and proceeded to feel the rest of his body plummet as his hooves slid off the rocks that he had been perched so precariously on just moments ago.

There was not one trace of amusement on the stallion that climbed gingerly out of the stream that he had been trying to cross. His body had just acquired what felt like at least a dozen bruises due to the fall and hard landing that he had had. Slipping on wet rocks and losing one’s balance was not something that Quiryn wanted to try again. He hurt all over and he was sure that he had pulled something in an attempt to lessen the impact on the rocks. With an extreme tenderness Quiryn gently nosed at the wings on his back as he fluttered them experimentally. Without any pain for his efforts the stallion deduced that they had not been pinned by his weight. However the same was not to be said of his legs. With a pronounced limp Quiryn walked away from the stream’s edge. He needed to find a place to recuperate or someone that could speed the process along. Was there such an individual in these new lands that could heal injuries of the flesh?
