He was bombarded with the emoticons she had recently found on her keyboard, mostly sparkles and followed by hotdogs and raindrops and winking faces. (December 12th could barely believe she hadn't noticed the options before and had taken the liberty of showing her, and she laughed like an idiot as he closed the door with a bare foot behind them.)
Twenty minutes later the click of her boots and the jangle of her key heralded Nora's return, and she threw the door open with an important air, like she wasn't wearing winter gear and a very thin layer of frost at all but rather a regal dress.
"Is someone feeling a little needy~?" she chirped as she began to peel the first few layers off.

Fortunately, Evan didn't have to find something to kill 10 minutes with--the constant stream of texts Nora sent him worked just fine. Gir barked a warning at the rattle of her key in the lock, and it turned into a long, happy shriek as he saw who it was. His happiness was infectious, adding warmth to the smile Evan gave Nora as she came in. "Little bit," Evan wasn't ashamed to admit. He rarely wanted for company, but there were friends and then there were friends, and Nora was definitely the latter. He was already stripped to his boxers and reclined against the wall at the head of the bed, and he watched with interest as Nora started removing her clothes. "Please, Ms. Constable, Ma'am, would you take all that wet, cold stuff off and come join me in this warm, comfortable bed? And then maybe explain to me what you're going to do with sparkly hot dogs in the rain," he added, shaking his phone at her.

"Sparkling what—oh! I forgot the hand emote," Nora said with a barks of laughter that Beatrix joined in. "Use your imagination, Mr. Roberts, I'm sure you haven't lost it." The usual strip tease she would have done was missing this time: she honestly was frigid and wasted no time in getting rid of the non-essentials, teeth chattering as she crawled into bed and immediately cocooned herself with greedy, ice cold hands. "Now...what's the occasion?" she asked with a shudder as she felt Evan's body heat wash over her. "Here I thought you had a bevy of bodies happy to help with aforementioned neediness."

Evan frowned in confusion as he tried to decipher what Nora meant. Realization dawned with a snort of amusement and a broad smile. "Yeah, we can shower later. We'll need it," he promised with a wink. He bit back a yelp as he was suddenly attacked by Nora's freezing fingers, and he shivered even as he wrapped his arms around her. "Yeah, but you're special. Besides, I've got good news for you, and I figured we'd wind up here anyway after I gave it to you," he said, pulling her close. He stroked her back and shoulders and arms, trying to rub the warmth back into her chilly skin.

"Special, ooo~" she purred with amusement, curling closer as she felt feeling return to her extremities and then some with his help. A finger idly traced his chest as she grinned up at him. "Well, don't you know how to give a girl a good house warming! Go on then, what's the news?"

"I sure do," Evan admitted, willing to accept credit where it was due; there was a time and a place for humbleness and in bed with a beautiful woman wasn't it. "And speaking of housewarming...I'm moving upstairs, so as soon as I clear my stuff out, this room's all yours."

It took Nora a second to process the news. She followed up with a bark of laughter as she went from Evan's second skin to sitting up and grinning: the prospect of having a whole room to herself, and a previously intermediate's at that, was more immediate than even his handsome self. Her thoughts naturally jumped to how she was going to accommodate herself with all that space...
"My, that is some news...But I don't get to move into the suite with you?" she teased, as Beatrix was kicking up a fuss for losing a bed partner for them both and she couldn't help herself. "Some good news that is. I get your fridge, which if I'm not mistaken is still armed with a live mine, while you get to gallivant upstairs with a kitchenette." Nora sounded oh so very sore about that, even with America's permission to mooch hers, to give Evan an extra hard time.

Gir whined, dismayed, as Nora sat up, but he quieted when Evan reached out to stroke her back, keeping them in contact. Evan half expected Nora to offer to help him pack, but was pleasantly surprised as she sounded disappointed instead. "You can," Evan offered easily, hopefully. "I just figured you'd want your own space so we're not tripping over each other." And each others' each others. "There'd be enough room for a futon, though, for when you kick me out of bed in the middle of the night, and we can maybe get it expanded later on. And you are mistaken," he continued, "Bessie's not armed with a live mine. It's all C-4."

She rolled her eyes good naturedly but considered the offer. "It would be nice to have more room, come and go," Nora thought aloud. Something occurred to her, and she gave Evan a sly look. "And it wouldn't be a mistake to assume you'd be rooming next to those two, yes?"

"Those two?" Evan asked, all wide-eyed innocence. "Can't say I know who you're referring to, but the room next to Stormy's happened to be free and now it doesn't seem to be," he trailed off, dropping the act. "Of course I did," he confirmed, trying to tug Nora back down. "Someone's got to keep an eye on them. Might as well be--us."

"The things we do for family, eh?" she said with overdramatic reluctance that was at odds with how quick she was to return to the warm niche against Evan. Already her lips were meandering to their favorite places, thoughts about the future discarded for the present. The arctic was no place for her, but the bed certainly was even if she was a little tired at the get-go.
"More talk later," Nora murmured against his skin. "Still haven't gotten a proper welcome home."

"You know," Evan remarked much later, "if you move in with us, we'd be able to do that anytime you like. And the room has its own kitchen and bathroom." He knew his wasn't the only bed Nora slept in, but figured that not all of the rooms those beds were in had their own mostly-private amenities.
