            members' list

            Quote:
            Quote:
            TROLL NAME: Alifax Bunsem
LOCATION: Busthind Mountains; willing to travel.
            ROLE: Co-founder 1.
CHARACTER NAME: Dedicate Redflame. His grub name was Hendon Sangha.
                CHARACTER GENDER: Male.
APPEARANCE: The Dedicate wears Alifax's ordinary getup, but he wears unburnt articles of clothing instead. He also wields meteor hammers.
CLASS: Warsworn aestheticate, a class flavored as a member of a religious sect devoted to the inherent beauty and language of combat.
BACKSTORY: Alifax does none of the roleplaying and a lot of the fighting.
TEAM: Team WHO STARTED THE FIRE? + sarcel cincil

                CHARACTER NAME: Cantie Velian
                CHARACTER GENDER: Male.
APPEARANCE: A well-dressed, wealthy-looking teenager wielding a trident encrusted with carnelian. His clothing is perhaps a bit too frilly to be of especially great use in combat, but it's great for concealing cane-swords.
CLASS: Empirical Impauster, a character who is noticeably unfinned but acts as one regardless. They tend to be high in charisma.
BACKSTORY: Cantie's primary job is a seadweller's body double. While actually redblooded (as anyone who injured him would note), he dresses in purple with false fins (Alifax will tell anyone who asks that his character is a seadweller). This means he's often placed in peril, risking attack or kidnapping by particularly bold trolls who want something from a member of Alternia's ruling class.
                TEAM: n/a. Narrative roleplay only.

            Quote:
            Name: Frossa Fyrste

CLASS: a two word class name, like blind seer or petticoat seagrift. it does not need to be a real or logical rpg class. you can describe it if you want but it doesn't matter much - it's just for fun!
          BACKSTORY:
TEAM: competitive play only - list team name, role, and partner's name. you can put n/a or only use this character for recreational play if you want!

perk shop - spend your fxp here!
                  characters
                  1. new character slot - 100 fxp

                  costumes
                  1. level up - 10 fxp * new level
Characters start at level 0. Each level up will net you a piece of art by our group artists!

                  2. outfit change - 10 fxp
You may only purchase this after leveling up at least once, and it should be used when a large portion of your character's outfit has changed (perhaps due to equipment drops). Your previous art will be edited to reflect the outfit change.

                  3. update - 2 fxp
Intended to be purchased after campaigns in which you receive weapons or smaller pieces of equipment - these will be edited onto your previous character portrait.

                  items
                  1. custom weapon - 2 fxp
You will receive art of a weapon customized to your specifications! This will be free-standing art.

                  2. custom item - 2 fxp
Standalone item art. This cannot be wearable - think vases, plants, or books.

                  3. custom clothing - 4 fxp
Standalone wearable art! It should be a single article of clothing (things that come in pairs can be paired) and will be drawn in a manner such that it can be used for reference images, hence the higher price.

                  companions

                  Come back later!

            registration
Alifax and Frossa, the league officials in charge of registration, don't give any shits about character development. Therefore to join the League, potential FLARPers must create a character (name, class, and brief appearance.).

            how to flarp

Are you interested in running your own game of FLARP? Excellent!

The league officially endorses two forms of FLARPing - narrative FLARP, and competitive FLARP. Recording your attempts at either of these will reward you with FXP, which can be used at our handy perk shop!

            narrative flarp
This is a method of FLARPing suitable for all kinds of players! It requires at least one clouder and two to five players (you may have a larger number of players, but we recommend at least one clouder for every set of five in your group - things will run much more smoothly that way!). Generally this is a FLARP with a stated goal or plot in mind, controlled and written by the clouder.

We will reward FXP for these based on activity alone. Players qualify for FXP after posting in 2/3 of the clouder's posted rounds for a total of at least 500 words. (Basically, we'll only give you FXP if you're fairly active in the roleplay, don't treat it as a solo, and qualify for RP credit normally.)

Clouders qualify for FXP after posting at least 500 words of roleplay or flavor text. In addition, at least two players for every clouder involved must qualify for FXP for the clouder to also qualify. Clouding is about leadership and providing an interesting story that engages your players!

Especially good clouding (very cool puzzles or an interesting, complex storyline, or a clouder who responds to individual posts) may receive extra FXP. A clouder should include at least one backstory post describing the context of the roleplay and at least one closing post describing the outcome of the roleplay. These posts will count for FXP as long as you include roleplay in them!

There are no set stats for narrative FLARPs. You may make up your own if you'd like! Homebrew is fun. biggrin

You may split your FLARP into multiple threads, but will only receive FXP once for a FLARP with a single storyline with a certain number of players. Posting an additional sequel or second episode of your FLARP qualifies as a new FLARP. Re-running a plot qualifies as a new FLARP, too, as long as people can't get answers from the previous run.

You can use any sort of mechanics to determine success in your game! Check out our 2015 Bloodfest booth for some examples. You may use Hivestuck battle mechanics but you are not required to do so.

Occasionally the league will organize mass narrative FLARPs, for which you may be able to receive OOC rewards.

            competitive flarp
This is a much more structured form of FLARPing, but it comes with structured, built-in rewards. Two teams of two trolls (who must be teenagers or older) each will compete directly against each other. Each team must consist of one player and one clouder. Your troll may switch off in subsequent FLARPs, and may also participate with different partners in subsequent FLARPs. However, you will be compensated with extra rewards for sticking with a consistent partner (you may switch between the roles of player or clouder as you'd like, though).

To play, create two Hivestuck battle threads: one between the clouder of Team A and the player of Team B, and one between the clouder of Team B and the player of Team A. During the course of the battle thread, instead of just melee combat (although that can happen, too!), the clouder should place obstacles in order to deter the player from some goal. These can include traps and smaller monsters, or even puzzles, so long as they do come with antagonistic intent and are possible to respond to (for example, a puzzle might punish you by somehow harming you if you get the answer wrong). The player can attempt to overcome the clouder's obstacles in any way possible, including locating the clouder and actually attacking them.

Continue battle until one player mechanically reaches 0HP. Your team wins if your player overcomes the clouder's obstacles (which means both teams can win, and that both teams can lose.). Winning your FLARP gets you a premade prize randomly picked from our pool of prizes. They are IC prizes and do not net you any mechanical benefit.

You may have a pre-determined winner if you'd like, and merely use the HP as a gauge of progress (as outlined in the Hivestuck battle rules). If you are seen as exploiting this rule to get infinite amounts of prizes for yourself and your friends, it will change. We allow pre-determined winners so that people can conveniently lose for their plots, not so that everyone gets prizes always.

Participating in a battle through to the end (filling out RP for every post until someone gets to 0 HP) nets you FXP - even if your partner does not also get to the end. In other words, as long as your troll's battle thread with their opponent qualifies you for battle credit under Hivestuck rules, you will receive FXP.

The league will occasionally organize larger scale tournaments, for which you may be able to receive OOC prizes.
