If there was one thing Kole missed about living in the city as opposed to the woods, it would have to be the food. The cave he'd taken up residence in was no place for a refrigerator, and he didn't have an ice box, so any cravings he got required a trip.
After, er, "acquiring" some money, he left a sandwich shop with a large roast beef sub. With some dollars left, he headed over to stroll the clothing storefronts, window shopping rather than going inside while he ate. Maybe he would buy a new jacket rather than stealing one, like the one he currently had on. It was too short in the sleeves, but it zipped up to keep his torso warm. His long hair was acting like a scarf around his neck, where the claw-like ends would sometimes pick at the sandwich playfully until they earned a snarl.

Pregnancy was not easy on Solange.
Although she hadn't yet been too nauseous, her stomach did turn over more at certain scents, which led her to eating stranger and stranger combinations. Her sense of smell had always been heightened, but now...She swore she would know if a hobo took a piss three blocks away. That being said, she had walked away from a perfectly good burger fifteen minutes ago, and was starting to regret it.
The Houndoom reached a hand up to her head, and exhaled. The longer she walked the more light headed she felt, and now she had a habit of bumping into street posts and storefronts. She needed to get back home; she had only meant to go out for lunch, and now it was felt as if she had hiked up a mountain!
Solange leaned her back against the brick edifice of a clothing shop to catch herself. From this angle her little baby bump stuck out from her coat, which wouldn't zip up anymore around her swelling abdomen. Just a few minutes and she would be okay...

He was busy staring at a rather nice looking jacket, surely costing far more than what was in his pocket, when a finger of hair began incessantly poking his cheek. He turned his head to snarl again, but his gaze landed on the houndoom. She looked like she was having trouble. He quickly noticed the baby belly and snorted. Well, it was her own damned fault for getting knocked up. No wonder she was tired.
He turned to walk away, but his legs suddenly froze, and his eyes dropped. He... he couldn't turn his back like this. Something deep in his mind made him turn around, and rather than the hard, fierce gaze that usually inhabited his eyes these days, they were light and concerned. "Do you... need a hand?" His arms of hair waved to the woman excitedly, and Kole sighed with amusement. "Or four?"

When Solange looked up she hated expected to see the teen approaching her. Somewhere in her memory she had vaguely seen the other, but she had just taken for granted that he would pass her like the others.
She smiled a little wanly. Normally she would try to stand on her own two feet without hand outs, but she really needed the assist. "Yes, thank you...all of you." Solange didn't know if it was part of her hazy vision, or if his hair really was waving. "Can you help me to that bench?" The young mother motioned to a bench a little further down the street at a bus stop. "I should be fine once I sit down..."
Solange started to move away from the wall, but her legs weren't nearly steady enough, she lurched forward.

His head cocked slightly, smirking a little. He could understand the reluctance to accept help, and it amused him. In such a weakened state, yet still fighting.
When the woman stumbled though, he found himself jumping forward to catch her. His hair unwound from his neck, and reached to help support her. "Okay. To the bench then." He guided her along the sidewalk until they got to the bench, and set her down quite gently. "Need a drink? Food?" He glanced down at his pocket, where he had hastily stuffed his sandwich. "I have a roast beef on me.."

Solange shook her head to clear it, and exhaled. If this kid hadn't caught her...Maybe she really should get that checked out. It was...weird, though, to say the least when his hair was the thing that ended up supporting her. What a world.
She shook her head with a little grimace. "No no. Thanks though. It comes on without any damn reason." Solange settled back on the bench, and pulled her long braid around to her side so that she wouldn't sit on it. "Besides, I wouldn't want to take your food. Maybe though...Would you mind sticking around, for a few minutes at least, just so nothing happens? This should go away in a little bit, but..."
When had she become such a p***y? All she needed was a pink dress and an apron. Still, it was better safe, than sorry. "Unless you've got somewhere to be. Don't let me hold you up."

Lips pursing slightly, he gave a small nod. No reason? She was pregnant! That would make anyone ill... Being asked to stick around made his brow rise. Slowly, he nodded and sat next to the woman. This was... different.
Her concern for his time brought a sour snort from him. "As if anyone is expecting me anywhere. I've got all day, ma'am." He dug his hands into his pocket to get his sandwich back out, while one arm of hair rewrapped around his neck and the other reached over to rest encouragingly on Solange's shoulder. Kole shot the arm a glare until it returned back to his own shoulder.

Solange frowned. She shifted on the bench, tucked her leg under her and tossed the other over the back of the bench to really get a good look at this kid. "First off; no ma'am. Just call me Sol." She smiled.
The Houndoom watched his hair curiously. "Are you a Gourgeist?" Almost as if on reflex, when she felt something move on her stomach she reached a hand down, and was glad to note it was just the edge of her coat. "I don't know your situation, but I can empathize on some level. There was a time in my life that I had no one at my back. At some point though, you'll have that...if you're nice enough to stay by me then you can't be all bad."

He glanced over as the woman shifted to face him, but quickly turned to face his sandwich. "Sol, then," he replied before taking a bite. One arm of hair tried to pluck at his food, and he swatted it away idly.
Gourgeist... Kole face went flat as he chewed, but his arm of hair closest to Solange waved excitedly to confirm her guess. Sighing, his hand snapped up to grab his hair to still it. "Don't," he muttered, both to his hair and to the woman. His hair settled back again, and he returned his focus to the food. "Just tell me when you're feeling better, and we'll go on our ways."

Solange quirked her mouth into a frown. She was trying to open up to the little p***k, and he shut off. Had she struck a nerve? "Thought so." She took his hair waving as confirmation. At least part of him didn't mind talking to her.
"Do you know what I do for a living, kid? I mix drinks and beat the s**t out of people." She shifted in her seat once again, this time to sit in a more relaxed position looking forward. "I've kicked my husband so many times that I had to wipe his blood off my face. But when he looks back at me, with all of that love..."
She stood up, and looked back down to the Gourgeist teen. "Keepin' yourself closed up that like isn't good for anyone. What you need, little demon boy, is an angel. Someone tough enough to put up with all the s**t you can throw at them, and still love you at the end of the day."
Solange shrugged and stuck her hands into her pockets. "Your hair seems to get that. Maybe you should listen to it."

"That's nice," he replied without interest. He took another bite of the sandwich, chewing a bit rougher than necessary. Love... What was love in this mess...?
He actually looked up with surprise when the woman stood, gawking slightly. Stiffening, he swallowed thickly and let his gaze drop back again. "What are you, my mother?" he asked with a snort. He looked over at the particularly active arm of hair, and glared as it poked his cheek. "Shut up." Damned hair.

Cornetified [/quote Solange clucked her tongue. "Be really ******** glad I'm not.." Little s**t. His ears would have been boxed if he'd been her son!
She really didn't get what this kids deal was and by this point she was too tired to care. What Solange needed was a nice long nap. "Thanks for your help. Get somewhere warm so you don't freeze to death." Before she started walking away, she held up a hand and turned back to him. "And fyi, if you give me any more sass, I'll rip your tongue out. It's a promise." She smiled, but this time it was more manic than motherly.
With her last words spent, Solange started out on her way back home.

'I am glad,' he thought to himself, a little surprised that he stayed silent. Perhaps it was that odd bit of relief he felt at seeing the woman back on her feet, and not looking like she would fall over.
Solange's thanks and concern sent Kole's eyes to his hands again. Why did she care if he froze? He stayed on the bench as both arms of hair gave the woman farewell waves. "That's assuming we meet again," he muttered, tucking away the last bite of his meal, eyes shifting to watch as well. Could she really have been in a similar position... alone? There she was pregnant and apparently in love. How could she have come from similar issues? Could he, maybe, one day...?
Of course, that was when his hair started poking his cheek again. Growling, he jumped up and grabbed both strands as he stalked back out of town. He was going to cut these damned arms off one of these days!
