User Image She prowled the chilly mountain side looking for that curious male she had met so many years ago, and found no sign of him. He had told her he stayed in the same spot during the winter season, and yet there was hardly any sign of life in the frosty peaks save for the little critters that scattered about as the lioness strolled through.

The red on white gave her away like a sore thumb, and she didn't mind it; not many braved the cold mountain. Sometimes she needed the fresh, crisp air and quiet that the mountain provided. The isle could become noisy and overcrowded at times, and she enjoyed her space.

The energy that flared about her as flames was bright and kept her warm in the cold snow. As long as she didn't fall into a sink hole, she would be fine, and would stay dry. Even though the flames kept her warm, that didn't mean they kept her dry, and so she carefully tested each step before putting weight on her paws as she explored about. Finding the scent of the evergreen trees that grew here enjoyable, Ash smiled and the flames grew brighter and bigger. She had nothing planned, and so she strolled along in a cheery mood.

Frostbite

It was hardly surprising that Frostbite was wandering about the Frost Peak, given that the lioness lived there. The cold had never bothered her and her fur blended in so well that you wouldn't be able to see her approaching until she was standing before you.

Having grown up in the snow-covered terrain, her body had adjusted as she grew. She had done her fair share of traveling about the island when she had reached adolescence and early adulthood, but in the end, after she'd had her adventures and tales of woe, she rounded back to the serene and quiet of the snow-capped mountain.

The pale lioness had only recently left her den at the top of the mountain and was stepping out onto a ledge covered in thin, powdery snow when a peculiar sight further down the mountain caught Frostbite's attention. The lioness may've not noticed the other if they're colors hadn't been so bold. Like fire against the icy terrain, it made for quite the contrast.

Not many travel up to this mountain. Frostbite thought, her ears perked up in curiosity, for the situation was a bit of an anomaly. Surely the polite thing would be to see if this creature has lost its way, or is traveling some where in particular. Yes, and if they are lost, I shall send them on their way and return home. She wouldn't want to find herself in the unfortunate predicament of making another friend now, would she?

With her plan in mind, she unfurled her wings, stepped back from the ledge and then darted forward, pushing off from the ledge and taking to the sky. It was a sunny day, so she would be easy to spot if the fiery creature she'd spotted was looking up. If they were lost, however, they were likely not to be, so she still could have the fun in spooking them. It was a surprise prank that she always liked to do, coming out and spooking others, before getting down to the heart of things. She landed a few paces away, before leaning forward and slipping through the snow as though she were ice herself.

Upon closer inspection, she found that it was another lioness that had come onto the Frost Peak, and that this lioness was in fact, blazing. It was quite the spectacle. Coming closer to the lioness, but not close enough to be harmed should the lioness react in fear and violence, Frostbite believed now to be a good time as any to speak with the other.

"Excuse me, Miss? Are you lost?" Came the slow and relaxed voice of Frostbite, "I'd be happy to show you the way off of this mountain, if you'd like."

Ash was enjoying herself, humming a tune, and occasionally hopping from one spot to another, being less cautious about any snow sink holes. Her head was bopping from side to side in beat to her tune, when she heard a voice behind her. Automatically Ash jumped swiftly around to meet the newcomer, and took a relaxed defensive stance in case the newcomer was there to harm her. "I'm not lost, just enjoying the fresh air away from civilization," she said in a neutral tone, and smiled warmly. It took her a second to focus on the white lioness before her, as she blended well with the snowy environment. If Ash had been the same size as this lioness, she wouldn't have been as frightened by the sudden appearance, but her being a little bit smaller in size, Ash would have to try and be more confident than she felt and prove herself to this snowy lioness.

Her wings were of an icy blue, but Ash found the color to be lovely instead of harsh like some of the inhabitants of the isle found ice to be. They didn't understand that the ice crystals that hung at the entrances to some of the caves were a beauty of mother nature as they were deadly too. "What are you doing out here? It looks like your home is here; you were definitely born to be a mistress of the snow," Ash complimented the lioness with a warm kindness in her tone.

This lioness contrasted wildly with Ash, and she found herself staring at the almost heavenly white of her. She also seemed to have curls of her own type of aura or energy swirling around her. Deciding she wasn't in danger, Ash relaxed a little and sat, with her tail coming to curl around her front feet. "I have never seen anyone else up here besides a boy I met long ago. He said he was the only being on the mountain, so he must have not been smart enough to look harder."

Frostbite

Frostbite's eyes found the lioness' yellow-white ones and held their gaze as the other jumped into a defensive action. She had expected such a reaction and it brought a bit of joy to her, which she showed in an easy grin and a soft chuckle.
"I'm sorry to have spooked you, but I assure you, I don't intend to hurt you." She held up a paw to the other lioness and winked at her, "Claws sheathed, I promise."

She was intrigued to find out that the other lioness claimed to be here on purpose. She wanted to get away from others and at this, Frostbite's grin grew.
"Well, this is certainly one of the best places on the isle to get away from others. I rarely get visitors upon this mountain. It's why I was rather surprised to see you when I left my den this morning." She admitted with twinkling eyes.

As she waited for the other feline to speak again, Frostbite took in every inch of the newcomer's appearance. There were parts of her, like her chest, her eyes, and a band around her wings, that looked hot enough to turn white themselves. Heat seemed to radiate from the lioness and she was quite the compelling cat. Like a moth drawn to a flame, Frostbite found it hard to look away, until the other spoke again.

"'A mistress of the snow?'" She echoed and then her eyes lit up and she gave a merry laugh, which echoed off the mountain, "I've certainly never been called that before!" When her laughter had subsided, her eyes still sparkled as she looked at the other, and she admitted to herself that she had missed the company of others. "Yes, I live here. On top of the mountain, in fact. I'd show you, but the air gets rather thin up there. Someone who isn't used to it may not enjoy the sensation of their lungs constricting." She replied evenly, looking up at where her den resided at the top of the mountain, or rather, just underneath the tip of it.

When the lioness sat down and seemed to relax, Frostbite took her cue to relax further as well. She toppled over entirely, leaving an impression in the snowy terrain. She stretched in the snow, the cold never reaching her, before she rolled over to address the other, as she was speaking again.
"I have only recently returned from my travels around the rest of the isle. I was gone for a long time, so perhaps your boy lived here whilst I was gone?" She suggested, her smile fixed in place. "By the by, I don't think we've introduced ourselves yet. I'm Frostbite. Who might you be?"

"My name is Ash. It's a pleasure to meet you, Frostbite," she replied smiling warmly as she met Frostbite's sparkling gaze. Feeling her cheeks warm a little, Ash peered up in the direction that her companion had, and gave a low whistle. "I haven't been that high up yet, but it's close enough. Perhaps when I get my lungs used to the thinner air, I'll visit you there; just have to make my lungs stronger. I tend to challenge myself whether or not it can harm me," she said turning her attention back to the frosty lioness. "It's good to have skills others don't," she smiled. "Makes you tougher and stronger," she grinned, "then those males learn not to try anything," puffing out her chest, she felt compelled to try and appear almost intimidating. It was a laughable display, and she knew it, but Ash continued anyways.

"Not many of the others like the cold, and so they tend to stay away. It doesn't bother me, and I like that it's always winter here. It's a beautiful reprieve, and I visit quite a few times throughout the year to explore because I haven't seen all of Frosty peaks," she replied in response to Frostbite's surprise of her being there.

Ash had forgotten about the boy she was looking for until her companion reminded her. Shrugging her shoulders, she found he no longer held her interest. "Wherever he may be, I wish him well. He was kind of a lazy, mean soul anyways," she laughed warmly, and when she stopped Ash spoke what was on her mind with a smile. "You're here, so he's not important." She felt relaxed around this lioness, and found it a little difficult to hold her tongue and think about what she was saying.

Changing the subject quickly, she asked "What did your travels show you?" she asked, genuinely curious. Ash watched Frostbite as she stretched out in the snow, and felt as though her staring was in some way an invasion of privacy, and she glanced away to look at a small white rabbit disappear behind a bush. "Does the warm climate of the isle bother you?" she asked bringing her attention back to Frostbite.

Frostbite

Frostbite's eyes shone with amusement at Ash's reply, saying how she would surely come and visit the wintry lioness, once her lungs became stronger. Frostbite knew that it was not nearly as easy as the vivid-coated lioness seemed to think, but she was going to be one of the last lions to tell Ash how foolish of an idea it was. She let the comment roll off of her coat like melted snow, and addressed her second comment with a hearty laugh.

"I wouldn't quite no about that. No male has really tried to overpower me before." She flashed Ash a mischievous grin and added, "Or perhaps they simply knew where their rank fell in my presence." Again, the lioness laughed again, as merry as the one before, though a coldness was starting to seep into her fur, and it wasn't from the icy terrain surrounding her.

Frostbite nodded thoughtfully at Ash's words, taking in how she enjoyed how it was always cold here, and thought it beautiful.
"You should see the snow under a full moon and a clear sky. That's true beauty." She remarked, her tone wistful and a smile upon her face.

This smile dropped soon after, however, when Ash commented on the lion she had sought. She looked curiously at the other lioness, perplexed by her situation.
"If you did not like him or his company, then why seek him out?" She asked, finding her own question answered with another, regarding the knowledge her travels brought her. The coldness was sharp and bitter as she thought on it.

It showed me that nothing is forever. Thought the lioness with resentment swelling up to her chest, but not reaching her face, I learned that solitude is the only way to gain inner peace, and that other life is painful and full of regrets.

"Well, I met a great deal of lions and dragons alike. Those dragons were certainly a sight to see. You don't really see a great deal many of them around the Peaks, at least, I haven't. Although, I suppose they ought to live around here somewhere. I'm sure they could tolerate it, given their thick fur." She gave a small shrug and went on, "And I learned how it's like to have friends." She didn't like it. Friendships ended. A bit of pink contrasted the white and blue of the lioness' coat. She felt anger, but the pinkness could pass for modesty or embarrassment as she said quietly, "I learned what it was like to love someone." And to not truly be loved back.

She gave a short giggle and ruffled her wings, spraying bits of snow about her. Ash was asking her about the climate bothering her? That was an unexpected question, though she supposed it was easy enough to answer.
"It's difficult, but I can handle myself, so long as I remain hydrated with cool water, like that of the Crystal Springs. That water was clean and crisp and wonderful." The lioness purred, remembering it fondly, though a bad memory soon followed it.

Frostbite had seen more than enough bitterness in her lifetime and she had little desire to leave her mountain home to experience the same results. No, no. She doubted she would ever leave her home, it was the place that best fitted her, after all.
"What of you, Ash? You seem to be handling the cold surprisingly well." She said, attempting conversation once more.

You're good! And my reply is so long xD

As her companion laughed, Ash felt as if the world could be covered in ice and snow and she'd never be cold. This lioness was a warm soul contrary to the iciness she portrayed. When she laughed, it was a joyful sound to Ash's ears, but at the same time her intuition told Ash that something was off. She couldn't shake the feeling and it felt.... it just felt wrong. As if... perhaps she was intruding and the little ambush earlier was meant to scare her off.

"It's too bad not all males are smart like that. Too many think themselves the high and mightier of our species," Ash gave a scowl getting lost in thought for a moment. Too many lions had ridiculed her about her size, and some males thought they could have their way with her. It was their fault for meeting her fire when she really needed it.

Hearing Frostbite continue, Ash was pulled from her thoughts and instead listened with a kind smile spreading across her maw. "I would enjoy seeing the snow under a full moon. I can only imagine the stars in a clear sky too; no light pollution from huts, it would be breathtaking!" She giggled feeling a little bit too much like a girl swooning over some male, but the true beauties in life brought her quite a bit of happiness. "Mother nature is one beauty who keeps growing," she said with a warm, confident tone and still that nagging feeling that something was off tugged at her spine.

Seeing the perplexed expression on her companion's face, Ash gave a chuckle. "I beat him on a dare, and he owed me. Past tense because I don't care now. It was so long ago, I doubt he remembered," she swiped a paw in the air in gesture as if she was throwing away the trouble.

Ash listened intently to Frostbite and found the lioness' voice almost melodic and light. She flexed her wings and shifted to lay on her side with part of her belly exposed, showing in a small way she trusted her companion thus far. The dreadful feeling grew a little more, and she tried to stretch her back but it did nothing to help. When Frostbite mentioned love, Ash grimaced. "I have... never loved. I've been afraid to," she admitted and shrugged her shoulders, but at the same time her first words weren't completely true and her chest tightened with a small ache. The sadness barely met her eyes as she smiled to hide it.

"Oh!" Ash gasped as some snow was flung her way and she genuinely laughed warm and heartily. Her smile grew and her sadness forgotten, "The Crystal Springs is one of my favorite spots to relax at on a hot day. If ever you'd like to venture down that way, you'd like some company? I could take you to the trailing islands too. Some of the juiciest, sweetest fruits grow there in treetops, on bushes, and just about everywhere you look! Not only that, but it's close to the Willow Wastes so not many people want to venture past there to get to the Trailing Islands. It's great for a lazy day," she beamed as she spoke and the energy that swirled around her grew a little wild, though it was not harmful.

"The cold doesn't bother me. The flames that surround me as energy keep me warm, and I can heat my own body heat up or down as I choose. It's one way I scare unwanted males away; I can make myself too hot to touch and can cause minor burns. It takes a lot out of me though, and I'm exhausted for at least two days after," Ash didn't know why she told the lioness her most prized secret. She doubted her companion would tell anyone evil because Frostbite didn't come off as a cruel lioness. Just lonely.

Still that nagging, dreadful feeling tugged at Ash and she couldn't ignore it. "Are you all right? Is anything wrong? I feel as though something is wrong; my intuition is driving me bonkers," she blurted and stood up, though Ash was concerned for the lioness before her. "I am sorry if I offend," she quickly added, her wings needing another stretch as if to drive away the wrong feeling.

Frostbite

Ash's view on males seemed absolute and Frostbite knew better than to question it further. Besides, she had no intention of fighting with the other lioness, so long as she didn't tread too far into the Peaks. Frostbite didn't mind the friendliness of others, but if they tried entering her den found at the top of the mountain, she would chase them off--no matter how good looking they were.

Frostbite watched the other lioness with a keen interest, watching all manner of emotion flash through her eyes, fleeting and quick as though they were shooting stars. First there was happiness as she spoke of seeing the snow under a full moon, and then there was amusement at the mention of the lion she'd been tracking. Frostbite was still uncertain why the fiery lioness was seeking his company, but she didn't press this either.

"Haven't you?" Frostbite asked, when it was revealed Ash had never been in love before. She smiled faintly, "Well, perhaps that's for the best. Love can certainly be a frightening thing." And that was all she was going to say about that.

Frostbite perked her ears at the prospect at going back to the Crystal Springs and having someone accompany her. It would be like the old days, she thought, when she was younger and full of energy. She had been new to the world of lions and dragons then and she desired to make friends with everyone she came upon. Then she found the truth of others in the most brutal of manners. Oh no, she couldn't go back to the place where her heart was splintered.
"If I should ever go down to the Springs, you will be the first to know." She said, hoping this distant promise would be enough to pacify the offer. She, of course, had no way of contacting Ash if she were to travel to the Springs, nor did she have any true intent to go, but she would not reveal this. Sometimes, it was best to remain in ignorance. Frostbite often speculated whether she would be better off if she had never met other lions, but stayed up in the Peaks forever. She had yet to come to a conclusion on this matter.

"I see. That's quite impressive." Remarked Frostbite, curious about how the flames about her companion worked. Her own tendrils of icy blue didn't particularly serve much purpose. They only made her seem more mystical to friends and more intimidating, for they turned a blinding white when she felt anger, towards her enemies. "Have you always been able to control it so well?" After a pause, she smiled slightly and raised her eyebrows at her companion, "And do you only use it to scare off males? From the sounds of it, you've a preference for our gender."

The playful grin remained, but her eyes lost their light, as abruptly as a rock being dropped into a pond. Suddenly her smile seemed more like a grimace. It didn't last long and Frostbite forced herself to look easy-going once more.
"Attractive and perceptive. What a combo that is." She forced a laugh, standing when Ash did. Her eyes had taken on an emptiness. This lioness was on thin ice, so to speak. "What would you do if I agreed that something was wrong? Would you offer to fix it, stranger?" She asked, putting pressure on the word stranger. She had just met this lioness, after all, and she had learned not to get too close to others.

xD I feel like we're writing a book

Ash listened to the lioness. She studied her trying to understand this lioness, and figure out why one would want to live alone so far up. Ash enjoyed her space and alone time like others did, but to be completely isolated didn't make sense to her. Socializing with others kept her sane, and it kept her from becoming bitter as she had once been.

Her distaste toward males was mainly a hatred toward the one who had used her and thrown her away; the one she thought she could give her heart to. For a couple of years after, she hid away deep inside a cavern in the side of the volcano, swearing off all contact to the outside world. Ash remembered how she had lashed out a lost cub, scared the babe so badly it made her realize how cold she had become. She still hated to socialize, but with females it was easier to talk to; old fears didn't arise because she thought most to like males as mates.

"I learned how to control it when I was a teen. It makes up for my small size," that's what my adoptive parent said. Ash didn't say the words because she had no recollection of her biological parents. Her past wasn't a nice one, and it took her a long time to figure out who she wanted to be, and yet she was still searching. In a sense, her world was still being painted as Ash learned about herself. "I haven't met a good male... I seem to attract the bad ones," she spoke softly and quietly as if it was her fault. Ash did like to act out and draw attention to herself, but it didn't mean that she wanted a terrible love in her life. "That's a story for another time. Plus, girls are easier to talk to," she gave a small smile.

It wasn't long until she had noticed how her question had affected the other lioness as she replied. While Ash was standing, her hair rose on end at Frostbite's forced laugh. She tried to relax herself, and wanted to find some way to comfort the lioness, yet at the same time her instincts screamed to ready herself for an attack. Being stuck between a rock and a hard place, Ash did all she could do. Tell the truth. "I can't help you, unless you want it," she stood there ready to take whatever the lioness dished out. "I don't know you, and you don't know me. For all I know, you could leave me here for dead --though not saying I can't find my way home, that's besides the point. I have learned we make our choices and live with them, and I will choose to help you if you so wish it. If not, then I won't hassle you about it any further. We don't have to be strangers, but if that's the way you want it to be, then that's... not okay with me, but I can leave it," Ash wasn't cruel in her words, more or less warm, but she tried to find the right words with a tenderness in her tone that said she didn't want to upset nor hurt this lioness. "You don't have to trust me right off the bat, and you don't have to believe me. But if you want my help, all you would have to do is tell me what you need, or need from me." Ash said softly, and let out a breath she hadn't realize she was holding in.

Frostbite

Frostbite almost laughed in earnest. She didn't truly know the other lioness, but she felt as though she'd revealed everything to her. She had said that females were easier to talk to, but Frostbite had the assumption that Ash was just an honest lioness. Perhaps her bad love experience made her less inclined to men and more prone to socializing, but honesty was certainly a trait the fiery feline possessed.

Frostbite snorted when Ash suggested that she'd leave her for dead and replied,
"If you'll recall, not too long ago I offered to show you away out of the Peak and back into your world of warmth. I am not as heartless as to leave you to be captured by the frost. Heated though your pelt is, there are other effects these Peaks can have upon the unwary." She said, her pale eyes meeting Ash's evenly.

She became quiet as the red-orange lioness finished her impromptu speech and thought on what she had said. Her eyes were steely, if anything and she seemed to be gazing through Ash, rather than directly at her. Finally, she spoke.
"Don't leave, then. Stay with me forever." It was a ridiculous request and Frostbite knew it. Everyone she'd met turned on her and left. Friends wouldn't keep in touch, romantic partners got bored of her. The Frosty Peaks were the only constant force in her life, it was her only forever.

After a brief pause, she stretched one of her wings forward, pointing the primary feathers in a specific direction.
"Follow that direction for a half hour and you'll come to a large rock. There will be an engraving directing you south on the rock, She should know, giving that she put it there herself, "follow the arrow and you'll find yourself back on the sunny sands of the beaches." With that, she folded her wing against her side, turned and padded back up towards the mountains, knowing the feline would surely refuse her request. Everyone in her life had, whether they were aware of it or not, why should this one be any different?

It's fun though ^_^ Oh! I have a question. Would you like either of the pairs (Frostbite and Ash or Lucian and Starla) to join a pride later if all goes well with the rps?

"I have seen these other effects, but if I weren't clever enough to listen to my own body, then I wouldn't be alive before you," her tail swished back and forth as she spoke. Ash didn't break the eye contact, and didn't blink as the need to wasn't there. She listened to the white lioness and just wanted to pounce on her, and tell her to lighten up; that not all help came with a dreadful price. The urge to sneak up and tickle the lioness into laughter entered her mind, but she fought it knowing it was a bad idea.

Feeling a tinge of frustration, Ash jumped up and down for a moment. Once she felt as though her mind was clear, she looked to Frostbite again and held her warm gaze level to the lioness' frosty one. "I will stay here forever with you," she spoke matter of factly. She wasn't jumping at the offer out of uncontrolled emotions, nor in the heat of the moment, but out of her own want to stay.

Her expression was one of stubbornness and she puffed her chest out a little; not to intimidate, but to show she was being one hundred percent real with her decision. "I might not make it up there just yet," she motioned with a paw toward Frostbite's den, "but in the next few months, give or take I will."

She sat on her rump and took a deep breath, while listening to her companion's instructions. Ash looked in the direction Frostbite had pointed, and took note of the landmark. Large rock in half an hour with an engraving. South back to the sunny beaches... but why? Turning toward the lioness, Ash watched her as she headed back up the mountains. "When I go, what then?" she called out, standing back up and getting ready to leave. Ash turned her body toward the direction that would take her to the rock, and said warmly over her shoulder, "I do wish you happiness. If not now, then later in life."

She left it at that and took off at a run toward the rock. Her paws flinging up soft, powdery snow and usually she'd run like this carefree and with a grin playing across her maw. Right now, she was determined to prove whatever she needed to to Frostbite. Her expression was fierce, the lean muscle in her body starting to ache from lack of stretching before taking off at a full run. To run though, it felt good as she ran off the frustrations of the event, and her wings pulled tight against her back, she looked like a blur of fire against the wintry white environment.

Frostbite

This lioness of fire was so unlike herself that it both surprised and infuriated Frostbite. Did she really think that she'd just open herself up to her--a stranger?--and that everything after that would be rainbows and clouds? What a foolish notion!

Of course, when Ash actually agreed to her terms, any sort of thoughts of her being foolish were wiped from Frostbite's mind. She was left as a shell, her eyes wide and her jaw slackened slightly. Was... Was she serious? Would she really stay at Frostbite's side... forever?

Soon enough, she deflated. Ash could not join her now and as soon as she left the mountains, she would never see cause to join her again. Frostbite's natural instincts went to work. Why would she care what this stupid lioness did or didn't do? She wasn't important to her, they were strangers. The laughter that rumbled in her chest had simmered down to an agonizing sizzle.

By the time that Ash had given her warm farewell, Frostbite was already in the midst of a strong despair. The wind had started to pick up around her paws, whisking the powdery snow about her paws and swirling it about her head. She cared not who it attracted, she didn't even seem to notice its presence. All she knew was that she had gotten close to someone, without even properly knowing them. She would have to cut herself even further from others, but that idea made her want to scream. So she did. She tilted her head back and she roared. The wind and snow kicked up into a full-blown blizzard and she threw herself into the middle of it, the snow being tossed about as her feelings clashed with one another. Why couldn't she have simply attacked Ash and chased her off? Why did she have to be so soft?

Silent~Wolf~Demon
I'm not sure about Lucian/Starla, but with Frostbite/Ash, they could either join the Gifted pride or the Gay pride. Or, I've been toying with the idea of having Frostbite start her own little tribe in the safety of her own home. It would be based around the ice/snow lovers, or those suited to the cold, like she is. Would Ash be interested in joining a tribe like that?

Okies! I also think that Ash would love to join Frostbite if she does have her own tribe/pride ^_^

Ash felt the wind pick up, and the snow seemed to thicken as it fell harder and faster. She pushed her frustrations into the flaring energy around her, causing it to turn into a harmless wildfire of warmth. The frustrations grew as she got lost in thought. Why would anyone in their right minds want to be isolated? Yes, the world could be harsh and cruel, but not everything in the world was the same. Ash certainly was not like other lions, and she wouldn't be. No matter her façade of strength, she was at least honest about her intentions. And how could that lioness not see that? Had bitterness turned her colder than the ice around her that she was blind? No, it wasn't possible. Ash had seen some warmth there as the lioness had laughed and lazed about.

A growl escaped her maw as she bared her teeth against what was beginning to turn into a snow storm. She thought herself into such a tiff that she almost missed the roar that came from Frostbite's direction. Ash froze in place and wasn't sure if she should keep going and leave, or go back and see what was wrong. She didn't want to disobey Frostbite's directions, but as Ash looked behind her, she could tell that the heart of the storm was indeed coming from the lioness.

Turning back toward the direction she was headed, the snow had become so thick that all Ash could see was white. Here and there a tree branch stuck out, but that was all she could see. It wasn't enough to assure her she was still heading toward the rock, and she flared her energy out even more, heating her fur enough to keep her from catching hypothermia. Deciding to keep trudging along, Ash figured it wasn't going to kill her if she got lost and buried in the snow. She'd just be lost until the storm gave. The worst that could happen was being buried by the snow if she fell into a hole.

Frostbite

Frostbite was in pain and she didn't know why. When she had been alone, she had been content. There had been no one to bother her and she had enjoyed the isolation from others.
Enjoyed? Was that really the word to put on it? No. She tolerated it. She didn't enjoy large crowds and she certainly didn't enjoy the company of lions that would treat her cruelly, but she didn't like being alone either. It was just a way of life that she had grown so accustomed to, that she didn't quite know anything else.

But then Ash had appeared and Frostbite had flown down to greet her. Why had she done that again? Was she so desperate for interaction with another being that she had to go out personally and meet her? Ash likely would've prowled around and left if Frostbite hadn't interfered, but she had. She had and she had felt the warmth of the other lioness seeping into her fur and... and it scared her. Why had it scared her so much?

Because I don't want to go through that same pain again. Thought the pale lioness. Yet, here she was, feeling the exact same gut-wrenching agony that she had felt when he had left her. It was like she was experiencing some sort of withdraw symptoms, and since she had a taste of the past, she longed for it again. That only scared her more and the storm raged on.

I don't want her to leave.
The thought was almost swept away through her anxiety and frustration and sadness, but Frostbite caught it before it slipped away. She held it in her mind. I need her to stay. It was stronger this time and the snow around her seemed to still for a brief moment. She had given Ash directions out of the Peaks and she had a head start on Frostbite. She would have to be swift if she wanted to catch up to the fiery lioness.

Unfurling her wings in the surrounding blizzard, Frostbite bolted forward and leaped from the snow, her lithe build taking off into the sky. She spiraled forward for a few moments and then evened out, turning around and letting the flurry rush her downhill. The blizzard turned to her aid, her emotions no longer rampant nor out of control.
"Ash!" She roared, hoping that if the orange lioness was nearby, she would stop and Frostbite would be able to find her more easily, "Ash, wait!" A pause, and then, "I'm sorry!"

Awesome! I'm excited x3

The thick white wonderland in front of her didn't cease, and it wasn't a wonderland she cared to be in. It was still beautiful, but rough going as Ash tried to keep going. A fast wind picked up and she yelped in surprise. Her only thoughts, as the anger seeped away, were of Frostbite. She hoped the lioness was having an easier time than her, and truly did wish her the best.... Though leaving her ate away at Ash.

The icy lioness had grown on her, and she liked the company. Of course Ash had been scared as a way of welcome from the other, but she didn't care about the scare tactic. She could have attacked me... but she didn't. She closed her eyes and had to pause, digging her claws into the soft snow and trying to stay upright.

Will she come to visit? Will I see her again if I come back? Leaving Frostbite had the small ache in her chest growing bigger, and yet she wouldn't let the lioness down. Ash had sensed hurt and pain from the other when she had spoke of love, and being polite, Ash hadn't gone any further on the subject. Old scars of her own had been reopened as she fought the urge to go back.

Why do I have to ask questions I know the answer to? I don't want to leave, but she made it clear.... Ash thought just as she heard someone calling her name. Not just anyone, but the only other lioness on the peaks. "Frostbite?" Ash called out as the winds died down, and the storm ceased to a calm snow fall. "I'm still... I'm still around, and... I forgive you," She turned in the direction of the lioness' voice. Unsure of what was about to happen, and more than a little afraid, though a light of hope shone in her eyes as she cautiously walked forward and searched for Frostbite. "I am sorry too!"
