Tis the Season
Prompt 2

Can be used toward Solo or RP req

The air was ripe with cheer in all of Tendaji. The Oban's King had been defeated and a new and compassionate one put in his place, the slaves were released, and it was time for the Winter Solstice. Friendly faces abounded as the havoc of the war was nearly wiped away and the villages restored.

It would seem as if everyone was enjoying the season, and it was very clear to see why. Almost every land in Tendaji were hosting their own winter celebrations, partying and feasting until the early hours of the morning before settling in to sleep for the night. It wasn't a time for work anymore, but a momentary reprieve for play.

Sriina tapped her fingers against the table in her home. Her parents had her inside again. She could see the lights flickering in the village, everyone seemed to be having a good time it seemed. The war was over, that was a relief, she was free, though she couldn't yet decide what they really meant when her parents kept her home all day every day. She looked around, though her parents were both off in whatever room they chose to be in, probably cooking or something. She was alone. She smirked and silently opened the door, worming her way through and closed it behind her with a slight thud.

She smiled to herself and put her hands in the pocket of the coat she wore. It was colder than usual, though in Matori that didn't mean too much. She strode off, looking for whatever was to come her way that day.

Onora sat in her empty home for approximately two minuets before she decided that she needed to get out of the house. Sitting at home with no one else was a tad depressing and that was one feeling she didn't deal with anymore. Especially with the festivities going on around town. She walked out of the house with her coat in hands, her fluff around her body giving just enough heat.

Making her way to the festivals she saw Sriina slipping out of her home. A smirk appeared on her face as she charged to her and bear hugged her. "Hey there convict!" She said with a laugh, crisp white air leaving her mouth.

Sriina was on the ground... and then she wasn't. She felt the wrap of the arms pulling her up and then the mirth in the voice it belonged to. "Oh Jeez Onora, I'm trying to run away here, are you trying to get my parents to drag me back inside?" she huffed and tried to calm her heart, looking around furtively for some sign her parents would come out of the house.

She pushed on Onora's arms, wiggling to get down. "Most people just say hello." She scolded her friend, though with a smile on her lips. It was good to be back together again. "Where are you off to?" She said, still speaking quietly. The last thing she needed was her parents recognizing her voice and coming to collect her.

Onora placed her hands on her hips after setting Sriina back on the ground. Oh it's fine, and that was my hello. Is that so wrong? She asked as Sriina checked for her parents. When she was asked where she was going, Onora stretched her hands behind her head and shrugged. I don't really know. Didn't want to be home by myself. She admitted with a grin.

Noticing shadows move from window blinds in the home, Onora grabbed Srii's hand and walked down the road before smiling. What about you? Just wanted to get out? She asked as she thought about her friend's parents. They weren't bad, just... over-protective. 'It's nice to have a family though.' She thought to herself, wondering about her own.

Sriina brushed her clothes back into place and tipped her head. By herself? Was Onora by herself?

Onora grabbed onto Srii's hand and started to yank her into town. "Oh, you know. Back home and under house arrest. I needed the fresh air." She let her friend keep leading her, not really paying attention to much besides the brisk sea air and the feeling of happiness around her. It was like it was radiating off of the buildings themselves since the town had been resettled to full capacity.

Onora gave a hearty chuckle as they began entering the town life. Now that her friend was with her she didn't mind just relaxing at home, though she would need a couple things for dinner time. Well glad you needed it, cause I was about to go insane. I don't think I told you, cause you were under house arrest, but I'm all by myself now. I think my family traveled somewhere else to protect everyone, so I got the whole house. She said with a light tone. It did bother her, but she knew her family would come back the moment they heard she was home.

I just need to grab a couple things. Wanna help pick what we're eatin? She asked as she got to a small merchant stand that was still open. She looked at the fish and herbs that lined the shack and picked up a fat sea creature before smiling. It was a hefty thing, and she was sure she could make food for them and a whole another family.

Sriina looked up at her friend with a surprised look. They had left? Why would they have left Onora by herself? It didn't make any sense to Sriina. Her parents and herself would never have been separated in the first place if it weren't for her master trading her off.

"I'm sure you know what you're doing a lot better than I do." She would have rather have left the cooking and meal planning to Onora, she actually knew what she was doing. When she picked up the scuttling thing with little legs waving about in panic Sriina poked a finger at it. "That looks appetizing." She had learned to love the food from Matori after coming back home.

Onora gave a nod. That looks like a good one. Nice choice. She said before paying the man and getting it wrapped in a cloth. Afterwards, she picked a couple green leafy herbs and vegetables before turning to her friend. All set, now let's go eat She said as she grabbed her new purchases and began her slight waddle of a walk.

They made it to her home and she opened the door and lit a couple candles to illuminate the room that had all the supplies. I'll get this done quickly so if you wanna just keep me some company, that'd be nice She said with a giggle. Quickly, with a skillful hand, the greens were chopped in small portions, and the shellfish was killed from a swift jerk of Onora's hands. In a couple of moments, it was a stew ready for boiling. Gosh I've miss ya. She said as she sat at the table.

Sriina leaned against the table in Onora's home and watched her crack the creature with a firm jerk and then it went limp. "It's been too long. I'm just happy that we can finally be home." She trailed off. "Though... I guess it's not coming back when I've never been here to begin with, right?" She watched Onora stir the pot and its contents and could smell the wonderful concoction simmering in the air.

"That smells delicious." She could feel her mouth watering. "And hopefully like it's almost done? I'm ready for food." She looked around the house and noted the lack of very many belongings. "Are you going to be staying in Matori, Onora?" It didn't look like she was settling in, but then again she could just be waiting for her parents to come back?

It is nice to be in our native land. Onora said as she gave a smile. And even though you haven't been here before, it feels that way.

After Onora sat down, Sriina was asking some catch-me-up questions and she was ready to answer until she was asked if she was saying in Matori. She hadn't thought about it so she was somewhat at a blank. I'm not too sure. I don't know where my family went, so I wanna stay here for a bit. They might come back. She said with a somewhat forced smile as she filled bark made bowls with the fresh stew. All set. Hope you like it. She placed the steaming bowl next to Sriina, excited to cook for someone.

Sriina accepted the bowl and pursed her lips for a moment before wiping her face and replacing it with a more relaxed smile. She obviously struck a nerve with Onora, so she backed down. Her parents may come back, who knew, right?

She took a small sip of the broth and sighed. "Mmm this is good." She took small quick sips and put some of the poor creature's meat in her mouth. It might have not had the best luck with Onora, but it did taste good and it would have a nice place in her stomach.

Onora smiled when Sriina complemented her cooking. "Thanks. Dad taught me it before we met." She ate part of her portion and then sighed, happy to have her home with someone else other than her and the loneliness that loomed overhead. She quickly shook off the negativity had hid behind her thought. She knew her family would join her again soon.

She didn't realize that by the time she came back to her good friend, she had already eaten the rest of her food, and her large stomach sighed to her in contentment. "Oh man that was exactly what I needed on this cold night." She said with a laugh.

Sriina smiled to her friend, hoping that she was actually alright.

After it had cooled enough, Sriina had no troubles finishing off her bowl. It was delicious, and she hadn't actually eaten anything that day. She leaned back with a sigh that matched Onora's and stretched. "Mmmm... wish my mother would cook like that." Her mother was fine... but not like this. Not this delicious.

She rubbed her stomach and shook the sleep from her thoughts. "I have to go Onora. It's only a matter of time before they find out I'm gone." She pursed her lips again and stood from the table. 'They' as in her parents.

Even though she didn't want to go... it wasn't really her choice yet. Not yet... but soon. "We'll get together again. Really soon. And you can make me more delicious food."

Onora smiled, glad that her friend had finished her bowl as well. She didn't want her to leave, not yet at least, but she knew if they were to stay here any later, her parents were bound to know she was gone. "I understand. And most definitely, I love cooking for you. You always eat it!" She said jokingly. She placed the bowls in the small tub of water, ready to rinse them clean, and then walked Sriina to the door. "Walk back safe, 'kay?" She said before giving her a strong hug and opening the door to the snow.

As her friend left, she waved good bye, ready to let the sleep consume her for the evening.
