l a l a l o l a STUDENT FORM
Name: Lolita Nautica Alias: Preferred name is Lola; also teased with Lala from the phrase "you're always in lala land!" Age: 14 Gender: Female Powers: Clairaudience, Invisibility, Cryokinesis Aura: Gentle lavender, exceedingly high frequency, rose contrast
Appearance: how's it cookin', good lookin'? Lola is surprisingly short, coming in at a shocking 5 feet. She has barely aged since her childhood, retaining her baby fat with a cute curvy body and chubby chipmunk cheeks. She has big doe eyes with a striking emerald green shade. Her skintone is typically a pastey pale, but she spends so long outdoors that it takes on an almost ruddy complexion, mostly bright rosey cheeks. She has messy pale blonde hair, wild, and tangled like she's never seen a brush in her life. It reaches all the way to her feet, and dangles along the floor when she sits. The long, unmanageable length tends to have grass and leaves caught in the entanglement. The maid of the foster home tried her best to tame the mess, but Lola screamed with every tugged tangle, and refused to even let her twist it into buns. She gave up and Lola seemed happy to let it flow around her and blow through the wind. Her messy look is furthered by dirt and smudges all across her face and body- most prominently her dirty feet, as she insists she has an allergy to wearing shoes.
fashionista Surprisingly, Lola has a passion for fashion. She's always followed fashion blogs and collected magazines. Unfortunately, her inability to focus on one thing for too long ends up in a disorganized fashion sense. She took her favorite trends of skinny jeans, classy tops and over-the-top accessories and combined them all together. It might not clash as much if she wasn't constantly dirtying herself in the outdoors. She was never able to pick a favorite color or color scheme - with her racing mind, she just wanted them all - so she mixes them all together. Lavenders, mints, pinks, blacks, yellows, whites and glittery silvers. She owns a couple designer skinnies, gifted to her by her foster parent, but has since destroyed them with rips and holes from her outside adventures. Skinned knees peeking out from holes when she suffers another clumsy fall, smudges and stains from rolling around in dirt and rubble. As for her top half, she chooses to customize her own halter and scoop-back tops. She accessories them with added stitches and patches, most often with a big stitched heart on the front, or sometimes stitching a cute forest creature such as a deer or squirrel. Her mismatched style is finished with her own crocheted fingerless gloves and armwarmers, tending to be a variety of color clashing.
emotive Lola is most often described as 'being lost in lala land.' She is constantly lost in her own thoughts. Due to her inability to focus, she is typically seen staring into the distance, up at the sky, or down at the ground. She's been referred to as slow, but is really just too bogged down imagining 100 different scenarios and possibilities, or counting all the stars in the sky, or keeping her eyes pealed for rocks and plants. Her body posture reflects this as well- if she isn't laying in the grass watching the sky, or digging in the dirt for new treasures or a garden to build, she will generally sit on the ground in a lazy stretch. Keeping her attention is nearly impossible, as she stares at you with wide curious eyes and her head tilted to one side as if she was looking straight through you.
Personality: Lola has a kind heart, always the first to help an injured bird or move a turtle out of the way of danger or defend a stranger for being teased. Unfortunately, bullying from her past has plagued her with a hesitance when it comes to speaking out against wrongdoings. She prefers to go unnoticed in life as opposed to drawing attention to herself and being laughed at or mocked. One day soon, she might not be able to handle the guilt she feels and will snap on whoever decided to spend their day teasing another. She longs for companionship and acceptance, but just cannot get her mind to focus on one thing for more than a minute. The few times she tried to make friends never went well- either they were shocked when one of her powers were discovered, or her lack of attention eventually annoyed them.
She is the first to be there for a friend, but due to her drifting mind, she would gaze off into the distance as they tried to bond and tell stories. This ends up in her being very introverted and solitary, angry at herself for problems she couldn't control, disappointed that no one seemed to understand. She suffered from constant teasing and bullying, and it always confused and upset her. She didn't hurt any of them, so why were they always so mean? It wasn't her fault she was this way, so why did they laugh at her? She tends to fall into invisibility whenever she gets hurt to escape the pain. Because of betrayals and bullying, she's grown to trust very few people. She devoted her time to animals and plant life instead, feeling as if she could never relate with other people.
If you can get past her built up wall, you'll discover a loyal friend until the very end, blessed with a sweet temperament and a goofy sense of humor. One of the few things that seemed to put a crack in her barrier is unadulterated humor- she doesn't get to enjoy it often, but there's nothing more Lola enjoys than a good laugh. You know the kind- rolling on the ground, all holds off, hooting and hollering kind of laugh. She longs for her partner-in-crime, not necessarily in a snuggles and kisses kind of way, but to perform comedy duets and goof off with. Sadly, getting past "hi, I'm Lola and I have weird powers" is enough of a struggle, and she's only managed to practice an act in front of a silent audience of forest creatures.
She can't stand to be confined indoors and chooses to spend the majority of her time outside, even going so far as to sleep under under the stars. According to her, nothing is a better lullaby than chirping crickets and hooting owls. Her daily nature walks include tending to her gardens and feeding whatever animal friends she comes across. Her favorite flowers to plant were Moonflowers, as she loved watching them bloom in the moonlight when no one was expecting it. Her most successful gardens tend to be filled with low-maintenance plants such as Wild Lilacs and especially Daylilies. Daylilies blossom at dawn and die at dusk, so it was the perfect plant for her absent mind. Wild Lilacs also require next to no water, so they've always been her best hit. Naturally, she is forgetful even when it's her own garden. She grew a beautiful and rare batch of yellow and red hibiscus once- it was her pride and joy. Hibiscus are very high-maintenance and require constant watering. It slipped her mind and when she came to a dead garden, she burst into tears on the spot. Tears of anger against her own failure, tears of sadness that her beautiful plants had died. She never forgave herself, and made it her goal to never forget another plant- or at least, try not to. The few rare times you'll see her indoors is when she's working on her latest fashion creation. The only fashion she'll disagree with is the invention of shoes, and she'll bluntly tell you so. "What's the point of feet if you can't wiggle your toes in the dirt?"
History: Lola's parents disappeared without a word when she was still a baby, only leaving her with a pendant with "Nautica" engraved inside of a heart. It was assumed to be her surname and the only clue she has to her long lost family. Once it was clear that her parents were nowhere to be found, she was taken to a permanent foster home, along with several other children around her same age. Their new foster parent was an aloof, wealthy business man named Omar. He was strict and orderly, rarely having any free time to spend with the children, but he had a soft heart, and would chuckle when the children gave him silly nicknames such as "Mar-Mar." The maid and caretaker of the children was a young woman named Evelyn, who would serenade the children to sleep every night. As a baby, Lola was quiet and simple. She needed nothing more than a gentle rock to fall asleep, and was always seen with a sweet smile on her chubby face. As she grew, things changed. She was diagnosed with severe ADD by a general physician, but it was clear there was something else going on in her mind. It only worsened when she turned 8 and her clairaudience fully manifested itself. Whether her clairaudience tuned into local conversations in at home or distant whispers she couldn't understand, she could never seem to focus on a single thing.
As a child, she didn't understand what was happening. She cried to her only mentors and friends, Omar and Evelyn. Omar was always attached to the young and tormented child, and he would hug her until her tears calmed. He was too busy with his work to give her the attention it would take to learn what she was going through, so he directed Evelyn to schedule specialists until the problem was solved. Evelyn was not so naive- it was clear as day that Lola was gifted with something far more than an attention-deficit disorder.
As she grew, her powers and attention only worsened until she was incapable of focusing on one thing for more than a few minutes. She was lost in a world filled with her thoughts as well as others. Whereas some people have a one-track-mind, she began to have a hundred-track-mind. Because of this, and people's lack of understanding for psychic abilities, she was called slow, dippy, confused and inattentive. The other kids weren't taught to understand the supernatural and unknown, and they didn't care to. Their only recourse of action was to mock the things that didn't make sense- which, unfortunately in this case, was Lola.
Her next power surfaced when she was 12. It was a bad case of bullying, and the children went so far as to step on one of her beautiful gardens. She cried until suddenly she was gone- they couldn't see her. Invisibility had surfaced, yet another power she couldn't understand. She ran and ran until the invisibility wore off (it didn't take long) and she was in Evelyn's arms once again, tears streaming down her face as she proclaimed that she hated this, that she just wanted this to go away so she could make friends like everyone else. Evelyn didn't waste a second as she confronted Omar with this newfound ability, torn up at seeing the girl cry one time too many. Omar was shocked and baffled as he discussed what should be done with Evelyn. He was a man of logic and reasoning, but even he couldn't reason what happened right before his eyes. It was decided that she would begin private studies in isolation from the children and watched closely for any update or increase in these abilities. Neither of them wanted to see Lola alone, but the kids only seemed to aggravate her. Her interest in nature soared at this stage as it was her sole comfort.
She has no control over her clairaudience whatsoever, her thoughts are too scattered and it just tends to switch on without warning. It never lasts for too long, as she gets quickly distracted. Her invisibility tends to manifest whenever she's scared and upset and only lasts as long as she can focus on those emotions- which isn't long, as her thoughts quickly scatter. It's generally just long enough for her to hide or run to Evelyn. Her cryokinesis is still mostly hidden and unknown to her. Very recently, when she gets lonely and upset, she causes a slight chill in the room- but she has yet to notice this.
At 13 years old, she was fed up. Fed up of being teased, fed up of keeping secrets, fed up of hiding, fed up of not being in control. Her insecurity bubbled inside of her until she snapped at Evelyn for the first time. The maid was kind and had her best interests at heart, but Lola couldn't take another day of this. She screamed and cried, fading in and out of visibility due to her storming emotions. She wanted to make friends that understood her struggles. She didn't want to hide her abilities, she wanted to help people with them!
She just couldn't understand. She wondered if her parents had these same powers. What happened to them? Would her life be easier if they had stayed? Would they have taught her? She hid in gardens and cried to her animal friends night after night.
Omar and Evelyn were both at a loss and began asking around to see if anyone knew anything about these odd abilities. A faint rumor of an academy that catered to "children with psychic abilities" began to float around. They briefly hesitated to place their faith in some mysterious school, but they soon decided that anything was worth a risk if it might soothe Lola's pain.
"This is an honor, my little Lola," Omar boasted to her with a grin as she was sent on her way to a new future. Evelyn fawned over her with kisses as she promised she would soon see this as a blessing. It was the beginning of her new life. Maybe she would finally understand why she was so different. Maybe she would finally make a friend who could understand.
Goodbye tears, hello Majesco!
