Samuel grew up living with his mother and father in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. His parents met when his mother, an anthropology student and meister from England, was studying abroad in Brazil and started a relationship with a Capoeira instructor. After a budding, summer romance, followed by years of courting, Samuel's mother agreed to marry Samuel's father. The two were in love, but Samuel's mother had a promising career as anthropologist back in England. It wasn't easy, but she convinced Samuel's father to move with her to her home in England.
The cold and dreary weather was rough for Samuel's father, who pined for the warm, humid climate of Brazil and the kiss of the sun on his skin. Not wanting his wife to ruin her career by moving back with him, Samuel's father insisted that Samuel's mother finish her training and education, then come back with him to Brazil. The deal was struck and the couple consummated the agreement. Not only did the agreement strengthen their bond, it also resulted in the birth of Samuel a year after his mother finished her time at her university.
The Oliviera family, upon their agreement, moved back to Brazil and began their lives as a new family. Samuel's father taught him everything about his heritage and the beautiful art of Capoeira, while his mother provided for him a more formal education, focusing on academia and training him on becoming a meister. His father also took the time to teach his son about the concept of "The Rhythm of the Earth," or the belief that everything has a rhythm that can be felt and that he can attune his body with. This wasn't just the music he heard. It stretched out to every aspect of nature and the corporeal world. Since his mother was teaching him about controlling and maintaining his soul wavelength, his father's teaching melded into this and Samuel learned to adjust his wavelength with "the rhythm of the world around him."
Samuel loved living and learning with his parents, but he yearned to explore and experience life outside of Brazil. The opportunity arose when his mother was hired to give a lecture tour across different continents at different types of schools. Opting to go with her, he bid his father farewell and accompanied her. At one particular stop, a meister school, Samuel's interest in pursuing a partnership with a weapon began to surface. His mother noticed this and gave the young man her blessing to follow his heart. With the promise to write to her and his father, Samuel bid his mother goodbye and began his search for the perfect partner.

+ Dance Combat - A style of combat in which Samuel incorporates his dancing skills into his fighting, having the ability to move from one attack to the next effortlessly while being graceful and elegant. He is able to dodge attacks easily, while executing combat with little problem.

While under the influence of his trance, his strength and speed are increased to peak human levels, but at the cost of being unable to resonate with his partner or his comrades. This technique is last resort tactic Samuel would use to give his partner or team enough time to escape in dire situations, possibly costing his own life in the process.
+ Soul Perception - By attuning his wavelength to the world around him, Samuel is able to identify and detect souls around him. With enough focus and patience, Samuel can locate a specific soul or person, granted that the soul in question is maintaining a solid wavelength.
+ Soul Resonance - By synchronizing his soul wavelength with his partner's, Samuel's strength and speed in combat increase greatly.

Samuel has a fairly easygoing personality and he tries to treat others with great respect and admiration. His loyalty to his friends and loved ones are second to none, so it hurts him greatly to have his trust broken. Other than breaking his trust, it takes a lot of pushing to anger Samuel. If one were to succeed, they would make a quick enemy of the young man. Things that would really push him over the edge would be to hurt his friends, hurt his family, or hurt Mother Nature.
