(( Psst. I apologize for the funky color )) To the untrained eye there was no reason to leave this little place that seemed like paradise. However Serket was not one with an untrained eye. The usdia knew of the dangers that constantly were faced by one of her size. Her family was seemingly safe under the protection of one of the larger Soquili that roamed this area and maybe that was fine but for the longest time Serket had felt the itch of wanderlust. Her spiral eyes scanned the area before her as she hummed softly. Her mission was now commencing. That mission was to escape from this place and go exploring. The usdia swung her strange tail back and forth as she pondered with path before her she needed to take. She had learned that her tail did have the power to deliver a painful sting to those whom flesh it pierced.

It had been quiet among the land lately and Serket had heard of what group called this place their home. Apparently they called themselves the Mahapadma. Serket tested the word silently again. She had no desire to be discovered by any of its members without her mother or Uncle Daimhin nearby. Stretching, Serket's muscles quivered with unspent energy as she shot off into the darkening night. She had waited a long time for this moment and wasn't going to be spotted so easily with traveling during the day.
In that regards Serket expressed her intelligence by choosing this time of day to plan the start of her adventure. The tiny figure sprinted towards the nearest copse of trees before pausing to catch her breath. Serket was not sure if she had been spotted yet but she was not going to stop and risk exposure.

It seemed as if she were in the clear. The tiny usdia female glanced back and forth towards the next open stretch of land that she needed to cross. She had no idea what danger might lurk around her and there was only hope that she could still make it out of these lands unscathed. The odd tail that she was blessed with at birth whipped back and forth behind her as she stared up at the sky in disbelief. Lightning flashed amongst the clouds, illuminating the land and herself in brilliant radiant light. Serket shivered as a brisk wind tore through her mane and she cringed at each brilliant fork of lightning that arced from the clouds. She hated storms.

The gusting wind made it difficult to move. Serket winced as hard pellets of rain lashed her tiny frame. The mare lowered her head and pushed onwards with a slight grimace. The storm had worsened and made travel much more trickier to maneuver. Serket shielded her eyes by bowing her head into the driving rain. Her gaze, lowered as it was, still caught the rapid flashes that spoke of the storm's severity. She needed to find a place that would shelter her from the ferocity of mother nature. Her mane was plastered to the side of her neck and she shook her head in a futile gesture to try and get it to loosen off the side of her body. No luck. Miserable now the mare plodded forward in what she hoped was a straight line. Shelter needed to come first as she couldn't remain out in the elements any longer.

Lightning arced across the sky once more. A limp figure lay unaware of the danger that still came from the sky above. A sturdy enough tree had looked promising enough for a place to shelter at least for a little while. The elements did not seem to have taken any mercy on the unconscious figure of the usdia. Serket could not truly realize the danger that was posed to her by the storm as she continued to lie incoherently underneath the tree's immense frame. In her sheltered life with her mother and Uncle Daimhin she had never been given any warnings about the dangers of resting under trees during thunderstorms. Essentially the young mare had no idea that the lightning still posed an extreme danger to her resting place as she had collapsed from fatigue.

It was with a lot of effort that the mare came to. Serket’s spiral eyes widened in fear as lightning arced even closer to her hiding place. Why had the storm not abated yet? It was the last thought that went through her mind before the world around her was shattered in a bright white flash and an extreme wave of sound. Serket was flung violently away from the tree as it exploded into seemingly countless fragments. Her body rolled along the ground as various pieces of debris from the tree pelted her without any sort of pattern. A rather ominous cracking sound occurred when a large piece of debris struck her right foreleg. A scream of agony tore from her throat as she instantly collapsed. Serket attempted to rise to her feet once more only to feel her injured limb give out on her. Waves of debilitating pain washed over the small figure as once again she found consciousness fading. Her sight narrowed into a black tunnel before she completely went limp again.

It was a disheartening reality that Serket woke too. The usdia lay on her side breathing heavily to combat the pain that radiated from her front leg. Extremely uncomfortable now Serket raised her head to peer around at the damage that had been done to the place she had bedded down in before. Nothing remained of the tree except a smoking stump. Nausea rolled over her as her eyes took in the injury to her own body. Her right leg would not extend past a certain angle and the mare knew that something would have to be done, and the sooner the better. Weakly the mare cautiously rose to a shaky standing position and struggled to keep her right leg off the ground. It would be a daunting task but she could not remain out in the open in an injured state. With a slow, jerking movement Serket began to hobble towards an unknown future. All that mattered to her now was that she survive this journey. Everything else was secondary now to her.

At first it seemed like she was hallucinating. In Serket's pain-riddled mind there could not be a place of refuge just on the horizon? Could there be? The blundering about at a snail's pace had greatly taken its toll on her body. She was weak, dehydrated and barely able to remain upright for much longer. For although rain continued to fall she could not find the effort to stand in one place on three legs in order to attempt to quench her thirst; not even just a little bit. In her mind she felt that if she stopped moving she would not be able to get back up to keep on moving afterwards. Perhaps it was a bit of stubbornness poking through but Serket pushed herself bravely forward. The result was that she was in worse shape than when she awoke from being nearly struck by lightning.
A stroke of luck though seemed to be looming nearby in the shape of an outcropping of rocks. It was not a cave by any means but a small nook that she could attempt to squeeze herself into for some much needed rest. At least she would be able to close her eyes for a spell. That would be the plan then. After she rested there would need to be ideas generated on how to go about getting someone to help her out later.
