Reillan woke up with a sneaky smile on his face, he had formulated a plan last night, and it was time to put it into action. He yawned and wiped the goofy grin off of his face. He rolled out of bed and looked over to see his brother sound asleep under a rumple of blankets, one foot stuck out comically. Feeling mischievous, he took a finger and tickled that foot. His brother groaned an the offended foot retracted back into the blanket pile. There was little chance of it getting cold but still it was safer in the blankets. He gently poked the pile and it groaned, which made him smile again. "Come on Keel, Xarthin is up!" Looking back Reill poked his Janarim who was in fact still lying beside his bed and got much the same groan from the sleepy beast as he had gotten out of his brother. Well this was a fine fittle. A sleepy brother, a sleepy familiar and a devious plan that needed to be fulfilled. He slithered away to start breakfast, which brought the Janarim out first. His brother emerged a little while later.

Keelthy was disturbed from some of the most heavenly sleep by a well meaning brother, who for years had beat him out of bed, did Reil think that because they were in a new place with new people with a new pet that his morning would change at all? It was ludricrous. At the comment about the janarim, Keelthy ripped the blankets off his face saw that the big beast was still it ITS bed beside Reillan's and flipped his blankets back up. A complete lie, Reill, that was low.
Then heavenly smells floated into the tent and Xarthin abandoned him and their protest to go observe the actions outside, knowing he too had a meal coming. Darn Reill and his darn cooking skills. He peeled the blanket off and rose exponentially slowly. His whole body ached and it was chilly just coming out of bed. "Reiiill" he whined, before sauntering out to join his brother. "Why so early....don't you have sword practice to keep you busy? You don't really need me there do you? I'm just a wall flower, aesthetics only." That wasn't entirely true per say, he was helpful but it sounded good.

"Keeelthy," Reil whined back in his brother's voice. "I got you out of bed because I think it would be good for you to come to the ring, before we are finished for the day. You don't have to be there all morning, but I knew if I didn't get you up now, that you would sleep right through it. I would say you were half shifter but you look too much like my handsome self." His brother huffed in reply.
"Oh come on old man, one early morning won't do you in, and stop shivering, its not that cold." He got up and lured Xarthin over to his brother with Xarthin's breakfast, "There he will keep you warm Grandma." Lights danced in his eyes and he was happy he had thought of this thing to do for his brother later, he had watched him so much he hoped he remembered all the steps.
"You could go to the market and get the really good stuff today, we are low on meat, Xarthin eats a crazy amount in a day. Good thing they give us an extra quota due to him until he lets us ride and go hunting."

Keel scrunched his nose at his brother. Abominable this is what this was, what could the trainees possibly need with him there, was he to watch and make sure they didn't get boo boos in the last bout because they were all exhausted out of their minds? Couldn't their supervisor do that? He just didn't feel like seeing all that stuff today. "Your handsome self," he grumbled, "You know I'm more handsome then you, brat."
"It is that cold, my heat doesn't turn on until it gets enough sleep," he said bitterly. He warmed up a little with the hot janarim pillow behind him and despite the armor Xarthin made an excellent back support. "Actually from what I hear, Grandma was a morning person...like you." He glared fake daggers at his brother.
"Market..." It was always interesting to see the new things.. but how much really was bought before he got there...it was an intriguing idea..perhaps he would do that this morning, hunt for some interesting things...and apparently drag another half carcass back for the walking stomach behind him. "They must be invaluable to people if they have a food allowance for him. How did you manage to catch him again? I thought they were supposed to be terribly difficult."

Reillan smirked at his brother, such a sour puss in the morning, he was great fun to poke and prod, no doubt his brother would concoct a suitable revenge for this moment, but perhaps what happpened later would get him some cookie points that would save him from what he knew was coming. Keelthy could be downright evil when circumstances called for it and Reillan would really rather not be on the receiving end of his brother's diabolical nature when he didn't deserve it.
"Well to be honest I think he was just rather amused by me, and decided my paltry show of bravado curious enough to investigate further, and he was right I am no longer afraid persay, if you don't count my fear of him rolling on me in my sleep." Reil snorted. "He would be devastating in battle if properly trained but to do that one of us would have to get on his back, do you want to try?" He thought he knew the answer to that. "Like I said more training first, leas the buck us off and decide us better off as snacks rather then companions.
Reill fished their own breakfast off the fire and set himself to devouring it happily. It wasn't bad this morning, sometimes his cooking was less then desirable, but Keelthy never complained about his cooking and faithfully did the clean up after. Reill disliked cleaning so this was well worth being the cook.

Keelthy patted the big beast behind him. "Don't listen to him Xarthin I Know you will come around in your own time, we just need to earn your respect is all."keel grinned, perked upby the food, "The Janarim isnot the only one amused by you Reil."He giggled. His brother had talked himself right into that one. "You know you almost ask for the mocking you get." He grinned, "Alright, alright go do yoursword swatty thing, I'll be there for the end for whatever reason you need methane for." Which meant he would have to make himself presen+able go to the market, repeat step one and then go to the fighting ring. Shouldbe simple enough. The as his brother walked off he askedKeel to look after Xarthin, something about him distractingthe attendees. keel snorted, this would make things ten times as difficult. Then again, if he could get Xarthiuto carry his own foodback, difficult as that may be, he would save his own back from a great deal of torture. "Fine I'll take our Behemoth with me, anything else my Lord?"

"No thats pretty much it." Reill waved as he walked out of camp heading for a long, had morning ofsparring. It was important to Keep himself in shape. He needed to maintain and build large muscles, while Keelthy could stay lithe and wiry. But his brother would not be a sentinel when he grew up so he didn't need it. He also wouldn't need armor either. Reil didn't want a full body suit or anything, but something to protect his shoulders or chest might be nice. He wondered what antics Xorthinwould pull today, it would almost be worth a lost practice to watch, he thought. Let his brother deal with the toothy recacitrant child for once. Although Xarthinhadn't left yet but Reill refused to acknowledge the spot of affection that had started to grow for the creature. Maybe if he put up fliers in camp with a picture "Is this your Spot?" He was not sure if this wassomeone elses poorly trained Janarim or are ally odd wild advlt. It wasn't like Reill had trained it himself, it er... hehad Swatted at him then decided to follow him. .. and it was still following him and his brother. How was he supposed to get a date if he brought them home to that after.

Keel made a mocking face at his brother's dark retreating back. "Well buddy ol'pal, looks like your stuck with me today." Xarthin Looked morn fully at Reill's back but then licked out his bowl yet again before turning his head around to keelthy with a pleased growl. Keel fed him an extra snippet from his own plate. Food worked with brothers it should Work with Janarim too. He could remember sneaking food for Reillan and having his brother do the same thing for him. He was sure his mother just turned a blind eye when they raided her kitchen, She was a very smart lady and the best cook ever.
Keelthy preferred to bake when the mood struck him. For now he sat infront of the fire, the Janarim shuffled so it could put its sizable head in Keelthy's lap. "Well wherever you came from I'm glad you decided to join the group." Whether this benign attitude would prevail throughout the day remained to be seen. After the camp seemed to have settled down Somewhat Keelthy got up and fixed his hair and outfit. Then he and walked to the local market. He was usually the one to do this, but for the last few days not much had been new. He had half a mind to make Reillan do it tomorrow instead. It would do his brother god to get out of that blaster ring once in a while. Xarthin growled at random people walking by and Keel fussed at him until he desisted. "That's not proper manners Xarthy, you know that."

Reill arrived at the training ring on time for morning session as usual, he explained his plans to the supervisor who looked at him doubtfully, not sure why this was so important, but because Reill wanted the ring for directly after practice, the large shield could not find a fault in it, so he shrugged and gave Reillan the go ahead. Reill practiced extra hard in the first half so he could rest up for the second half. It was interesting to watch the battles between others. You could learn a lot from such objective observations and apply it to your own fighting or store tips for fighting certain battle types in the future. Of particular interest way the heavy defense combatants, Reill thought it nearly impossible to get around Some of the bigger stews with a small weapon, but through observation he learned that at least one tactic was to dance around the stew out of strike range but close enough to make the wielder turn to face you, of particular value was to make them pickup the shield and move it, but that took a certain taunting skill that looked rather hard to master. As the last fight petered out, Reill looked up expectantly and found that his brother Was walking towards them, all primped and polished. Right on time as always as long as that time was late morning. Reill snickered.

It had been a very interesting morning in Keelthy's estimation. He had gotten the choicest meat for the Janarim and his brother and had mostly gotten Xarthin to pack it home for them, excepting the odd roundabout here and there where Xarthin tried unsuccessfully to catch the juicy food on his back by chasing it around in circles. Keelthy was glad the Janarim didn't try to use his tail to try and get it because he rater thought it would have worked out well fro the critter. "You shouldn't be hungry," he had admonished at the time. "I saw you eat supper." Xarthin span a couple more circles but then gave up and followed Keelthy home. Keelthy processed the most tossed scraps to Xarthin, once that was done and put in storage for later, Keelthy bathed and redid himself before walking sedately of to another battle practice, for that silly brother of his, what made this set of battles so special?

Reill clapped to get everyones attention and indicated the ring should be raked over. He went over and greeted Keelthy. "Stand here, will they rake the ring, I'll call you in when we are ready, don't worry," he said at the look on his brother's face,"Its not a fight." He clapped Keelthy ont he shoulder. " I came up with it last night before I fell asleep. I see Xarthin didn't give you much trouble." The janarim had settled jut outside the ring, head raised to watch all the goings on around the enclosed dirt ring. Reill walked back to the ring and stepped on the newly turned dirt, it was soft and giving, unlikely to be much of a hindrance tho them. He packed an area in the center down, then stood in the middle of it. "I am borrowing the ring today to honor the bravery of my brother who despite great adversity makes the best of his circumstances. Come here Keelthy, this is for you."
Reillan started the steps he had learned with this brother, it was from a long time ago but it remained a beautiful dance that was made to be mirrored by two people. Reill was a bit clumsy in places but that was because he hadn't practiced it in a really long time.

Keelthy tilted his head and went in with his brother, standing before him when Reill started the dance, Keelthy mirrored him his body knowing what to do before his mind figured out what was happening. His eyes widened his brother had reserved the ring after practice to honor him. Him! The family reject. His brother was so amazing and Keel squelched down tears to dance strongly along with his brother, who did pretty good considering they hadn’t danced this together for a long time, it was hard to get practice of this sort in Oba with family lurking everywhere. They twisted and turned, leaped in opposite directions, it went on until at last supporting their body with both hands raised in the air. Breathing heavily they grinned at each other. “Reill I...” Clapping interrupted his words and he stared with large eyes at the group of people standing in audience, a few had left, dance not being their thing but quite a few had stayed both Oban and not, they seemed to appreciate Keelthy’s heart glow to think that the dance part of him was finally properly appreciated. He turned and hugged his brother right there kneeling in the dirt.

Reill knelt exhausted and hugged his brother back. This was family, this was what family did for each other. He glowed because he had found something meaningful to give to Keelhty. “So this makes up for walking you up too early right?” he grinned unrepentant, when Keel nodded he got up and brushed himself off. Well you know what I have been up to today, how did the market plus the bratty Janarim go?” he snicked a bit as they both bowed to their audience which finally dispersed, Xarthin had good days and bad days but the decided norm was bad days, “We should really start training him, especially if we ever hope to get another familiar herm he might just eat it. That would be awkward wouldn’t it.” That would be awkward wouldn’t it.” That would be nearly a worst case scenario. “ How do you train a janarim anyway. It’s not like they come with a manual. Do we spray him with water when he does something wrong, I don’t think he would like it so that is an option right? He couldn’t think of a better way to punish a janarim. It had the least chance of him getting injured in the process. Its not like Janarim were small and they had gotten this one full grown. “What say you?”

"I say that number one, next time you get to take him to the market, number two you get to try the water splash idea, number three I love you for doing that dance with me and number four we should put out a want add for a trainer that what." he grinned and high fived his brother. "I don't know i fthey have anyone trained in Janarim here, we may have to send word to variania and see if we cannot convince someone to move up here for the duration of his training." And ours he thought, he believed he ahd made progress today with Xarthin using food as a bribe but he wanted to see if Reillan would figure it out on his own, he was smart...most of the time. Keelhty jumped out of the ring and patted the Janarim. "It's important that he leanrs some of these things on his own, I knew you would agree. He snucke some food to the Janarim in a position where Reill could not see. "Sit." Xarthin ignored him, so Keelthy sat , the jaraim sat. Keelhty grinned and turned to see his brother watching them as he walked closer. Keel grinned and pointed gleefully at Xarthin. See! that was how one trained a Janarim!

"I'm not convinced that wasn't a fluke Keel." Reill said, jesturing to Xarthin who was now scratching himself behind the ears with a hind leg, looking most awkward and uncomfortable. Reill snickered, "You will have to do better then that." His brother was a dancer not a breast tamer, it would be best to hire a professional. They went home and ate the fresh food from the market. He wondered why food tasted better when eaten outside. "I think our after noon would be best spent fishing don't you?" Contrary to popular belief I do sometimes go to the market. He stood and went into the tiny storage box in the shanty, he pulled two fishing rods. " I figure we could use some meat as bait, catch some of our food for a change without going too far into the big scary jungle. I mean look at what happened last time." He gestured to the large janarim happily gnawing a bone when they all knew he could break it whenever he wanted. "That turned out so well didn't it? He asked fryly. He smirked and tossed the janarim another bone, whihc he caught and chewed in favor of the other one. "At least he is easy to please, right? If we can just keep him from eating all the meat brought in for the village." He handed Keelhty a rod, "I expect he will be coming with us, I don't feel right leaving him here alone, untamed as he is."
