Hm hm hmmmmmmmm. What to dooooooo, and who to do it with? Lydia stood on the outskirts of the training grounds, rocking on her unlaced hiker boot heels, pondering this important decision. She had come to the conclusion, earlier that day, that in order to become more impressive and, perhaps, to be taken more seriously, she had to prove herself much more capable of handling her weapon. Not that she was terrible at using Rorric, mind you, but there was definitely room for improvement. In fact, there was always room for improvement. But of course, she failed to realize that she should have perhaps looked for a sparring partner before actually coming to the training field. Arorangi, perhaps, or maybe Oliver, or Cee, all of whom were likely now busy, though she did dig out her phone for a moment, chewing on her bottom lip while trying to decide whether to text one of her friends. But then somebody caught her attention, and she slipped the phone back in her pocket as she whirled, catching sight of a nearby and quite impressive looking specimen of a woman. Lydia stared for a moment, blinked wide, amber eyes behind red lenses, and then broke into a large and toothy grin. "Excuse me! Excuse me, very tall miss! I'm looking for a sparring partner and you would make a lovely target, if you would be so kind!" Lucyal idk I think my brain is going all faily on me

Claude was there along the same lines as Lydia...minus the rocking on her heels. No, she had been standing there with her pistol summoned and arms loosely crossed, waiting for someone worthwhile to pop up on the field. It was something of a surprise, when she found herself being called out instead of the other way around. Claude turned her head, observing the approaching enthusiastic girl. Incredibly cheerful and almost looked like something off the street of Harajuku in Tokyo...Deus was something else. She also, briefly, wondered how old this girl was, but she wouldn't turn down a spar. "Alright." Claude unwound her arms and took some steps back, lifting her pistol in preparation.

Claude would always wonder how old Lydia was because she would never tell her. Nor would she ever tell anybody else.
Rest assured, it would quite likely be incredibly shocking if anybody ever found out, but it amused her to no end that nobody would ever know.
The very tall miss seemed to be a willing candidate for a spar, though Lydia was not quite prepared for a gun pointed directly at her face.
"Oh. Oh my." She smiled, teeth flashing in a grin. "I've not had a spar with somebody who's had a gun before." She imagined, however, that it would be quite painful.
She wondered briefly if she should back out.
Biting down on her bottom lip, she thought better of it, instead summoning Rorric, her cat o'nine tails whip, and held it out in front of her with two hands wrapped around the handle (which was rather silly considering she only needed one to use it).
"Okay then! Hi, I'm Lydia!"
Might as well get introductions out of the way!

And then because she assumed that the other woman was ready (gun pointed at the face being a good clue, of course), she wasted no time in raising the whip up in a single hand grip, swinging it around to lash at her sparring partners shoulder. HP: 40 Damage: 4

Claude was leaning towards slotting Lydia as a little girl. One who also didn't belong on Deus but instead should be selling girl scout cookies. The clothes and the hair were doing that for her, combined with the rather innocent looking face and manner of speaking. She noted that Lydia's surprise towards her weapon was on par with Abbi's, and wondered if it really was that different to be sporting a gun here on Deus. Oh well. "It's not that different." She replied as far as weapons in general went. She eyed Lydia's weapon as it was summoned... Well then. A little girl with a kink toy. Wonderful. "Claude." The taller trainee replied with a small nod of her head, bracing herself for this weapon. The strike to her shoulder stung, and Claude shift her pistol to her other hand and fired a shot at Lydia. She then back away from the trainee, waiting for her next strike. HP: 36 / 40

"I didn't say different." She pointed out, waggling her whip back and forth in the air. "I am sure there are a great many weapons like yours. I've just not encountered one in on the training field before." And it hurt, as she had known it would. The bullet stung where it struck, high on her chest near her neck, much like she supposed a paint ball might (though she had never actually been shot with one, so wasn't sure she was able to make such a comparison). "It must be very advantageous, however! A versatility of ranges! I, unfortunately, have to stay quite close." A fact that she demonstrated as when Claude backed away, Lydia followed, darting in close and aiming her second lash to whip across the fronts of Claude's thighs. HP: 37 Damage: 7

"It was implied." Claude replied. "A weapon is a weapon." Though to a degree, she supposed it was uncommon. Aside from Lex and herself, she didn't know anyone else with one...and well, there was Chance with his bow...and she had heard about another high ranking Sun with a bow...hm. "I suppose...it does has its disadvantages though." Claude raised an arm as if it'd help from the incoming attack of Lydia's rather unusual weapon, but alas it did not. When she drew closer though, Claude continued to put distance between the two, firing a shot at her as she did so. HP: 29 / 40

The shot hit her shoulder hard enough to numb it from their to her elbow, and her grip immediately loosened on her whip enough that she managed to drop the barbed tailed weapon on the ground as she let out a hiss. "Was it? I apologize then." She smiled. "I find it quite impressive. What sort of creature was it previously?" She asked, always curious and intent on knowledge. Stooping down, she picked up her whip, and attempted to close the distance between them once more, though when she made an attempt at a lash, it fell at least a foot short of it's mark. HP: 34 Damage: 0

Claude raised a hand to wave her off. No apology necessary. It was fine. "She's a kraken." The trainee answered, tensing and getting ready to react to Lydia again as she came after her again. The attack fell short, and Claude retaliated, firing at her once more. "Yours?" She asked, because she was curious as to what kind of creature resulted in a weapon like that. HP: 29 / 40

And with that, Lydia soon found herself on her a**, rocked back by a shot blast that spread pain across her entire chest, reverberating down her spine. She let out a gasp, not quite knowing what had hit her, the burning sensation from where the bullet had hit not fading away as quickly as she might have liked. Yet still, from her spot on the ground, she grinned. "Oh, a kraken! I have actually met one of those, once." And it had killed two of her companions. Woops! Best not to think about it. She focused instead on Claude's return question. "Oh, Rorric?" She waved her whip around in the air. "He's a firebird!" Pushing herself back to her feet, she made another attempt at darting forward to land a lash somewhere on Claude's person. HP: 25 Damage: 0

Claude couldn't help but note that the people she'd actually like to hit that hard were never the people she did. Sigh. "Yeah?" She echoed. "What was the size?" On that she was curious. A firebird... "A phoenix?" She asked, and had the courtesy to wait for Lydia to get back up on her feet before she resumed fighting. The trainee managed to dodge the girl's attack, and fired back with another strong shot. HP: 29 / 40

"Oh! Well he...or perhaps she? Was rather large um...I only actually saw tentacles, part of the head...an eye! Oh goodness it was a very big eye, and it looked right at me. And those tentacles! Very, very sizable tentacles. It sort of managed to ah...Kill, some of the people that I was with at the time." She finally said, with a frown, as she chewed on the inside of her lip. The voice in her head chirped his advice, as he often did, in his attempts to keep her on focusing too much on a darker time. He much preferred the light, bright Lydia, who looked forward to the future with optimism! She pushed it from her mind again, mentally smiling at the firebird who insisted on her remaining positive, reassuring him that she was, indeed, just fine. "No, not a phoenix. Not quite. A phoenix is a creature of Greek mythology, after all, and a firebird is of Slavic lore! They are more of an omen, a curse...though with great reward as well. Their feathers shine as bright as the sun, but do not burn to the touch." She managed to get this all out, before another bullet pummeled into her and sent her sprawling. "I do think." She said, slowly, as she pushed herself back to her feet with a large smile. "That you are quite good with that weapon, Miss Claude." She gave a nod of her head, before, once again, trying to land a hit. HP: 17 Damage: 4

Claude found her descriptions to be interesting, and to some degree she applied them to Ula. A brow rose curiously though at the mention of murder. Despite Lydia's discomfort, Claude was curious. "When was this?" She was also learning something new. The trainee was into everything sea lore related, so anything else outside of that wasn't as familiar. "I see." Once again Claude waited for Lydia to stand before she resumed attacking, firing another shot. "Drop the 'miss'." She flat out told her, and then shook her head a bit. "Just lucky." HP: 25 / 40

"Oh goodness, how long ago was it now?" She took a moment to think about it, coming to a quick realization with widening eyes. "Nearly two years ago. It was actually before I was brought here and podded." She gave a small nod of her head, and attempted to side step the next round that was fired her way, yet it still managed to hit her shoulder, and quite painfully so. "Right. Sorry." She smiled, a broad grin that split across a pale and lightly freckled face. "No miss." Closing the distance between them as much as she thought was needed, again, she swung her whip, only to find that she was a bit short, and so only able to graze the other woman. "Well, I certainly could use some of that luck. Got any to spare?" She joked, letting out a long titter of a laugh after saying so. HP: 12 Damage: 1

Before being podded, huh? Interesting. Admittedly, she couldn't remember anything between saying 'yes' to coming to Deus and then waking up from the pod but...oh well. She got where she needed to be, and that's what mattered in the end. The trainee backed up as Lydia tried closing the distance between them again, and was glad she managed to get out of that with only a clip. Claude gave her a soft snort in reply, and shot at her, aiming for her mid-section. "None." HP: 24 / 40
