Gundahar awakened in a groggy state, his arms thrown up above his head in a leisurely stretch. Blinking a few times he listened to the early morning rumbles of the dragons. It soothed his blood which burned to be with the dragons. <Good morning, young one.> The crackled voice of his grandmother's dragon punctured into his mind and he had a mental image of the older green gently nuzzling his side in a similar fashion of when he was younger.

Smiling, the young candidate swung his feet off his bunk and began to pull on the solid boots that matched his loose clothing. A stern look punctured the child's face as he laced up the boots and then rubbed his eyes drearily. It was time to get to work on his chores. Bouncing off the bed the lanky boy began to leave the shelter of the candidates barracks. Part of Gundahar longed for things to return to how simple they'd used to be, but it made him happy that his grandmother's green still felt the need to tell him good morning.

Sliding into the Trine Weyr he had to duck back into the wall as a massive bronze walked passed, followed closely by an exhausted looking rider. Part of the thirteen turn old wondered if there'd be a clutch soon. The oncoming threat of threadfall made it seem quite close at hand. Of course he'd heard the whispers of it. Swallowing hard, the young boy walked towards the stores, where various things were kept. <Watch yourself, child.> A newly winged brown snorted in good humor as the boy scuttled beneath an opened wing.

This was his life within the folds of the weyr. The candidate waved at the brown cheerily as he marched to the place he'd been assigned today. It was a beautiful day, especially for running errands. It made his heart soar with a purpose that burrowed within his pulsing blood. 'I hope I come across someone friendly today.' Everyone had their own personalities, and that's what made things fun in a weyr. Dragons and their riders... everything was perfect.

As he was given a parchment with his errand written on it and another item, numbweed, he would be taking numbweed to the infirmary, apparently some dragons had gotten into it after one of the flights. It seemed like a time for high spirits and large egos to the boy. 'Let's go.' He thought as he turned on his heels and began moving through the growing throngs of busy people towards his destination.

Amelia and Sharath were having a bit of a break. Their efforts were slowly rebuilding parts of the Weyr and the evidence of their work was clear in the scaffolding attached to the Mess Hall and the tarps draped over damaged buildings where they were overseeing the repair and expansion of services to accomodate the large population.

They'd been inspecting the work and were heading to the Infirmary wing to assess the needs, considering adding in another wing or two. Injuries with Thread falling were frequent now... they needed to be able to absorb a bad Fall or two.

Stretching as she walked through the main entrance to the Infirmary, clad in basic clothing fit for hard labour, Amelia very nearly bowled over Gundahar. "Sorry! You okay there? I was daydreaming." She chuckled and offered at hand to the boy, looking him over to make sure he was alright.

"Candidate?"

Gundahar had been on his mission when he'd felt someone run practically over him. With a sharp squeak of fright the child tottered on his toes before his lanky form went sprawling into a low table. Papers flew in every direction and the boy soon after went over the table as well. Blinking back the brief tears from pain, he hissed a breath as a voice touched his ears. Sorry! You okay there? I was daydreaming. The voice was said with a soft chuckle and the boy turned to face the woman, his face flushing brilliantly as he spied just who it was.

He stared in awe at Amelia for a moment, his mouth hanging slack until she said something else. What'd she say? It sounded as though it were a question. Blinking hopelessly he tilted his head. "I'm alright, ma'am." Gundahar stammered a little and put his lanky hand on the back of his head. His shaggy hair fell into his face and he blew it aside as he smiled. "You alright?" He asked her, hoping he'd not hurt her without meaning to. Not that he'd ever mean to harm another member of the Trine.

Then it came to him, he'd lost the package and paper in his little tumble. Panic struck him. "Shards!" The lanky teen groaned and looked down at the mess of papers. A couple of people hustled by, not wanting to get out of their busy schedules by a boy asking for help. "Excuse me ma'am, I didn't recognize you at first. You're rider Amelia, right?" He chuckled lamely.

Swallowing hard he blinked and looked at the piles once more, bending to slowly begin to clear up the mess and search for his paper of chores and his package. He couldn't be late. "I was just bringing the numbweed the healers requested. Now... where'd it go?" Gundahar questioned softly.

She watched him curiously, the expression on his face somewhat starstruck, and sighed. Amelia disliked when people treated her differently... she rather hoped he knew her only as a rider and not a goldrider. "I am, yep! Might I ask who you are? I really didn't mean to knock you over!"

Amelia chuckled, "Oh, I'm quite alright! Takes more than that to hurt me."

She crouched to help Gundahar look, re-stacking the papers and looking for a note or list. When she found it, she flapped it at the youth, "This it? What's on the docket for the day?" Smiling, Amelia straightened and set a hand on her hip.

"Say... I've got a bit of time, want some help? I never actually ran Candidate chores, to be honest. I wouldn't mind walking a dragonlength in your shoes with you."

Sharath arched her neck to peer over the rooftop, Mine, isn't that beneath us? A Candidate chore?

Amelia looked up at the queen, arching a brow, And why not? It's not like we're actually doing anything right now and quite frankly, simply delivering stuff would be a nice change of pace. You don't have to help if you'd prefer to sunbathe, beloved.

Gundahar noticed her soft sigh and frowned a little, had he said something that displeased her? 'Well, I wouldn't want to be constantly doted upon for being a queen's rider, that's for sure.' The teen thought and smiled at her, "Pardons, I am Gundahar, blue rider Ash'r's son?" He expected she'd know of his mother, after all, she was the queen's rider. Only after he'd spoken did the teen realize that he sounded a little stuck up. Blushing brightly he chuckled a little, "Sorry if I sound a little snobby." He apologized instinctively, only furthering the red on his cheeks.

When she spoke about knocking him over the boy chuckled a little and put his hand behind his head in embarrassment. "Oh really, I didn't think you meant to, Miss Amelia, er... Gold Rider Amelia, I mean... Amelia." The boy stammered, uncertain of what to call this woman who was currently in his presence. 'Boy, what're you getting yourself into?' He asked himself.

Oh, I'm quite alright! Takes more than that to hurt me. Her words struck a small chord in him, he didn't doubt her one bit. It took a special kind of woman to become a gold rider, so she clearly had desireable traits and the like. Smiling, Gundahar blinked his eyes and watched as she helped him, slowly going about finding the paper. When she lifted a sheet and waved it carefully before him he smiled broder. This it? What's on the docket for the day? Then she smiled and his heart raced even more. Oh boy, she smiled at him.

Then she popped a question he never thought he'd ever hear from a gold rider. Say... I've got a bit of time, want some help? Gundahar swallowed hard and chuckled sheepishly, "Well, I do need to get to the infirmary, I have errands for the first part. Though the chore after it is pretty medial, I have to help rub down the dragons off-duty. Simple candidate things." Nervously the boy then thought. Was he even allowed to accept her help? Would that be breaking some sort of rules? "Is that allowed ma'am? I mean, Amelia." Gundahar blushed deeply, uncertain once more. The by the book guy wasn't used to being offered assistance.

'Oh! Thank you for helping me find my chore list. I like to write it down so that I can remember." He chuckled as he held the package to his chest. The numbweed tingled his nose as he breathed in the smell. "I do appreciate the offer for help though, perhaps you'd like to go with me to find the head healer? I have to deliver this package." Gundahar looked rather apologetic and shy as he looked at the woman, he never knew what to say in these situations.

Amelia looked sheepish as he indicated relation to a rider and ran a hand through her hair, "I'm afraid I don't know who that it... I've not had time to speak to all the riders here since I transferred in." At his apology, she laughed and shook her head, "No, trust me, you don't sound snobby."

She waved her hand again, trying to flap his discomfiture away, "Just Amelia. Amelia is fine." Amelia listened to the chores for the day and grinned, "I just came from speaking with the Head Healer actually. I can walk you there. As for the oiling of dragons, I'm sure nobody will mind - and it is most certainly allowed. I'm trying to get to know the Weyr after all, and an opportunity to speak with the riders while helping a Candidate sounds like fun to me."

If you insist on helping him, Mine, then I ask for compensation - I be one of the dragons he oils. Might as well be useful. Sharath commented, whuffing a bit.

Amelia glanced up, grinning, "Sharath says if I help you, you have to help us. She wants to be oiled too. Deal?" The goldrider was already stepping back into the infirmary, gesturing for Gundahar to follow.

Gundahar wasn't the slightest bit dejected by Amelia's lack of knowledge on the other riders. Smiling a little at her comment on how he did not sound snobby he nodded, "Thank you, Amelia." Gundahar wasn't used to women in general, but at least she was pretty easy-going for a Gold Rider.

HIs eyes lit up when the rider talked about taking him to the healer, "I'd like that very much." As he stepped with her she mentioned something about oiling down her dragon and he beamed even brighter, "If the queen demands it then it must be done. I'd be happy to oil Sharath!" It'd give him the chance to see a gold up close after all. Growing up in the weyr he would've been used to seeing them, but he wasn't as of yet. They were so much larger than any of the other dragons, it was impressive by far. "I'd be honored to commit to that deal." He chuckled.

As they went to the head healer, he deposited the package and the note and grinned and the healer nodded carefully, said something to him about slow timing, and then rushed off. Grinning, Gundahar turned back to Amelia, "On to the dragons!" He said with a cheery chuckle.

Gundahar's seeming fawning over a gold and her rider was mildly irritating to Amelia but as long as he didn't push it too far, she could tolerate it... especially since Sharath seemed to approve of his manners.

The drop was finished quickly and Amelia nodded as she turned to go, "Which dragons are you tasked with helping? One of the Wings?"

Sharath was waiting for them when they exited the Infirmary and Amelia grinned, reaching up to smooth a hand over her dragon's snout, "Getting impatient?"

The dragon whuffed then turned her attention Gundahar, regarding him for several heartbeats before she turned away and padded towards where the dragons usually gathered in their spare time. Amelia smiled knowingly, it seemed Sharath approved of this young Candidate.

As they walked out, Gundahar looked at the gold with a small smile. She was indeed a beauty. However, when she gazed at him he had this uneasy feeling he was being scrutinized. Though, she didn't look displeased as she turned and walked away, perhaps that was a good thing indeed. Blinking, the boy looked to Amelia at her question on which dragons he was supposed to be oiling down. "I think today is the second Wing... Yeah." He nodded with a look of consternation of his face, as though battling with his knowledge slightly.

As the pair walked towards the wings' stalls, the boy nibbled his lower lip in thought. By the book that he was, he was still a little worried. Should he really have taken her up on her offer for assistance? It didn't want to break some social taboo. But, no one seemed all that effected by it. He just figured that with the growing threats looming out there, that her time would be better served in the air. "I do appreciate this help." He smiled at the woman at last, taking a moment to appreciate the help she was giving as he grabbed the needed supplies and approached one of the dragons.

"Alright," Amelia responded with a smile, rolling up the sleeves of her clothing, glad she tended towards more utilitarian garb as they came upon the off-duty riders currently focused on oiling their dragons.

They were wallowing in the sand by one of the connecting rivers between the lakes, the water frothing with the freshet, cool and clear. Sharath moved past the pair, basically walking over top Amelia and Gundahar, to croon at her fellows before selecting a pleasant depression in the sand curling up to sunbathe - she was in no rush, she knew she'd get a good rub soon enough.

"It's no problem," Amelia laughed, stretching a bit as she approached the first rider - a greenrider with extensive scarring across his arms, matched by a streak of scars on his dragon's neck. "Hello! I'm Amelia, this is Gundahar, he was sent here to help with the oiling... mind if I join?"

The greenrider eyed her a moment, giving a strange look before shrugging and nodding, "Don't see why not... though I don't see why you don't see to your own, Goldrider."

Amelia frowned a bit, "I agreed to assist this Candidate, friend. Please don't make it more then it is."

(I am interested in continuing, I've simply been terribly busy with real life as of late.)

(no worries dear, I understand that)

Gundahar blinked his eyes at the green rider as he eyed Amelia. A small frown creased the lanky boy's brow but he shrugged it away. Why worry bout something that couldn't be helped? People all had their own opinions. Forcing a smile to his face, he glanced at the green, "A hello to you, miss Green." Turning to the rider he cocked his head, "Would you like some help, or should I see to another dragon, I mean if you'd like to tend to your own dragon." He grinned lightly.

The boy knew he was probably asking for trouble, but he couldn't help the words from sliding free from his lips. Waiting for a response from the green and her rider, he looked around at the other dragons present. Goodness, today was going to make him sore for the next couple of seven days.
