He knew he wasn’t doing well. He felt chilled and feverish, not only from being beaten and tortured, but because of the poor conditions. He’d been left there to bleed after his encounter with the pale haired general who never did tell him her name. Thankfully, some mysterious woman came to make sure his side was bandaged once more and he wouldn’t bleed out (although it could be seen as more merciful to do so), but he had yet to speak to her as he was usually on the verge of conscious, if conscious at all, when she treated him.

Valhalla’s face was still covered in blood from the deep cut across his left eyebrow. The mysterious woman had tried to clean him up it seemed, but only had bandages and no real medical skills. His hands were still bound and his wrists bloody from straining against the chains, his fingers mutilated from when the general paid extra attention to them.

That was the least of his concerns at the moment, as his side had never had a chance to start to heal, as often as the stitches and bandages were ruined. It left his skin discolored and dark from bruising, both internal and external. It throbbed painfully causing him to groan and whimper in discomfort as he laid, slumped awkwardly onto the floor in a pool of his own, mostly dried blood. His arms still bound behind him as if they were afraid he would be able to muscle his way out if released from his bindings. Currently he questioned if he could even sit up.

Amethyst didn't need to be told that the Knight who was held in this room was in a very bad shape. Shutting the door behind him, he started towards the Spec-Ops Captain who was in charge of watching over Valhalla during this shift. "He's sick. I need you to let him down so that I can tend to him properly." The other Captain frowned, his reluctance in complying with the request that was made of him all over his face even before he vocalised it.

"But... we have our orders. The captives are not to be released no matter what."

He gave him a scathing look, something that was rarely seen in one as meek and mild-mannered as him unless it concerned something that he was vested in like the welfare of his patients back at the hospital that he worked. Which essentially included Valhalla right now since Mica had called him in to check on the Knight specifically. "I'm not asking you to release him. Sir. I'm asking you to let him down so that I can do my job. I will take full responsibility for this. If he dies before he's allowed to, General-Queen Apatite will not be impressed." Knowing that he had a point there, the Spec-Ops Captain relented, moving to release the contraption that strung Valhalla as if he was a piece of meat from the ceiling.

"I'll be watching you both closely. Do not under any circumstance undo the chains around his wrists."

Was his final warning before he left them be. Gingerly lowering his charge to the floor, Amethyst shook his head a few times at how warm and clammy the Jupiter Knight was, not at all sure as to where he should start as he looked him over and started to make a mental list of the injuries he had in his mind. Reaching out with both hands, he placed them on the other's shoulders, grasping them firmly before shaking him to see if he could rouse him. "Hey..."

If he was at least able to tell him which of his injuries was troubling him the most, he figured that he could start from there.

Hope this works for you! ^^

Valhalla groaned pitifully as he was shaken, not knowing what they wanted with him now, or perhaps the fact that he was weak was only more of a reason to beat on him. It was difficult to open both eyes, as dried blood covered half of his face from where his previous visitor had gouged a deep cut across his eyebrow with her nail. His bandages on his side, while they had been changed since the General’s visit, didn’t seem to be enough to stem flow from the reopened wound.

When he did manage to look up at the man before him, he didn’t recognize him. He shook his head listlessly, shivering with a sudden chill. He didn’t think he could handle being beaten again so soon. He kept drifting in and out of consciousness, but the pain and uncomfortable way he was being detained prevented him from slipping all the way.

He felt like he was going to be sick, so he kept his mouth shut. He didn’t know what this man wanted, but he wished he would get it over with already.

At first there was a groan and just as Amethyst was about to conclude that that was about all the response that he was going to get from Valhalla, the Knight opened his eyes to look at him. Any response was better than no response. Amethyst knew that to be the case but the dull and listless ambers that he had gazed into were still a worrisome indication as to how unwell Valhalla currently was. The next one to two days were going to be crucial for the Jupiter Knight.

"I'm here to help. You are sick. Presumably from an infected wound given how rapidly this has developed."

Skipping the introductions for now, he got right down to business, explaining the purpose of his visit as he looked Valhalla over once again to see if he could identify any potential trouble spots based on only the visual clues that he had to go by. He frowned when he spotted the soaked bandages on his side. He would definitely have to start there first. "You're hurt pretty bad. I'm going to have to poke around for a bit to see where the infection's likely coming from so please bear with me." He apologised before he retrieved a pair of scissors from the medical kit to begin the process of carefully cutting through the blood-stained bandages so that he could inspect the wound that was beneath.

He wished he could feel relieved when the captain told him he was there to help, but he couldn’t seem to get focused on anything. Valhalla knew that any kind of help was going to bring him more pain, and he clenched his teeth together as best he could. There were times he wished they would just leave him there, but someone always came by to make sure he was still breathing, if only to have him beaten on again.

Even though he was ready for the poking and prodding, he still let out a pitiful whimper, pressing his forehead hard against the floor. It would be a lot easier to try and help him if they would just release his hands, but he doubted that would be happening while he was still alive.

Valhalla hated this. He hated feeling weak and pathetic. He already didn’t do enough as a knight, so now when he couldn’t do anything, it was really difficult for him. “You don’t have to do this,” he hissed through gritted teeth. “There’s no point.” Whether or not he was able to ‘save’ him, they would probably just kill him anyway. It was a waste of the Captain’s time that he could be using to help someone else.

Peeling away the soggy bandages, Amethyst gave a frown at the foul smell that came from the infected wound beneath. "I don't. But I refuse to let you die on my watch." Tugging off his gloves, he tried to remove the headgear that Valhalla was wearing, hoping that that would make the Knight more comfortable. "Think about your family. Your loved ones. What will become of them if you allow yourself to perish here?" He urged, grabbing a gauze pad from the medical kit to wipe at the sweat on Valhalla's forehead and face while he resumed his assessment of the other's condition.

"You're severely dehydrated. I'll set a drip for you. Once we have run some fluids fast into you, you should start to feel a little better." He explained what he was about to do in a moment, slipping a tourniquet around the Knight's forearm before taking his hand in his so that he could lightly tap on the back of it with his other hand to locate an appropriate vein for his intended purpose.

It was ironic. There were some officers he truly appreciated their company. This man, for example. He fed him hope, which… was probably the worst thing for him. And there were others who promised him there was no hope of ever making it out alive. It was an emotional roller coaster and while he wished he could believe this man, his condition (and he was sure many others) didn’t give him much of a fighting spirit to try and escape. As if that was even possible.

Still, he allowed the man to do as he pleased, trying not to wince or wiggle around too much to hinder him. “My name is Valhalla… and I do think about my family. She was brought here, too. I would rather she was attended to… and the others.” He was stronger than he looked, or so he told himself. He wasn’t a fighter, but he’d been through his share of trouble. “Her name is Ganymede… please…”

I know you’re on hiatus so whenever you want to wrap this, it’s okay with me! Val wants to meet up with Amethyst and thank him whenever that’s possible for you. <3

Appreciative of Valhalla's attempt to cooperate with what he was doing, Amethyst worked swiftly, setting and securing an IV before hooking up a saline bag and running its content fast into the Knight to replace the fluids he had lost. Setting the other man's arm down, he moved to gently press an index and middle finger against the pulse point that was located at the side of his neck.

"Captain Amethyst." His pulse, though quick, was strong. That in itself was a good prognostic sign. Turning from Valhalla, he retrieved a slip of paper from his pocket, skimming over its content before replacing it. "Ganymede. She's next on my list. I'll check on her in a moment and do what I can." He informed him, hoping that what he said would help to ease the troubled mind of the ailing knight.

"As for you, I've got with me some medications that I can add to the drip to help with the fever and the wound infection. I trust that you do not have any drug allergies that I should be aware of?"

Guine
Yes! I'm down for this encounter and it will happen no matter how long it takes for us to get there. <333

”Amethyst,” he repeated softly, appreciative that he would tend to them. He could probably very easily kill him and everyone else. Or maybe that was the point. To build up their strength only to continue to torture them?

He held as still as he could, having no real ability to fight back either way, and shook his head when he was asked about drug allergies. It was almost funny, hearing a question like that after everything he’d been put through. Someone caring about drug allergies when he was likely to die anyway? Or if not die, continue to be tortured for information they didn’t have.

Valhalla felt soon felt drowsy, possibly from the numbing of the pain he’d been suffering through. He blinked blearily as Amethyst did his work, until he could barely keep his eyes open.

Wow, I'm so sorry about not tagging this sooner. We can probably wrap if you'd like and they can meet up again?? Val has questions about starseeds!

As far as Amethyst was concerned, there would be no torture on the cards for Valhalla. It went against the Hippocratic oath that he took for his profession first and foremost plus the Captain had always been of the opinion that there were more than one means to the end that they seek. "Good. I'll ready the meds then." He nodded at the shake of the head that Valhalla gave when asked if he had any drug allergies, resting a hand lightly on the knight's uninjured shoulder and giving it a squeeze as he smiled kindly down at him.

"Try to get some rest. I'll be back soon to check on your progress."

Turning back to the medical kit that he had brought with him, he began retrieving the medication vials that he needed, double checking the labels for the names and the doses before adding them to the drip that was already running into the sickly knight. After that all was done, he checked on Valhalla's breathing and pulse again before turning to the officers who were watching over them the entire time. "He's stable for now. But he can easily tip over any time. I'll be back to check on him in about two hours give and take. If anything happens in the interim, I assume that you know how to use your crystal communicators to reach me?"

Given Valhalla's condition, he would have much preferred to have the knight transferred to an infirmary if he had his way. There was only so much the best medication could do against pockets of pus that had been allowed to develop over time after all. But he knew that he had to be mindful as well of the fact that Valhalla was their enemy and prisoner and the possible consequences should he be seen as stepping out of line. For now, all he could do was watch the ailing knight closely and react accordingly in the hope that that would be enough.

Guine
Awww... it's okie Guine. I'm sorry for only wrapping this now though. Was having some issues with keeping Amethyst muse afloat but he's back mostly now. And yes, I'm totally down for them both meeting again! Amethyst will be totally curious as to Val's memory loss issue <3
