Kiyelt wanted to go deeper into the Perzi canyon, but an odd noise outside caught his attention, he rushed up the path and stood straight to see another Perzi with a bird chick in its mouth. Could he have missed the hatching? He snapped his whip at the Perzi's nose, he had to make it drop the baby bird, maybe it had survived this long somehow and he could take it back to the nest and its parents. Perhaps a hawk or something had lifted it out and the Perzi was scouting nearby. He shook his head he would probably never find out. Deciding that drastic action was needed Kiyelt pounced the Perzi and wrestled with it.
He managed to get on top of the fairly large creature and admist all the thrashing he stuck his fingers in its cheeks behind the teeth, this engaged the gag reflex and it spat the chick out, he yelled and screamed at it to keep it off. Then he scooped up the chick and put it in the bag he kept his fabric markers in. Turning back to the cat which hadn’t left he stalked around it. He needed to get to the Zore cliffs, before the chick became too weak, but he also needed to get past this cat and he was loathe to pass up a chance to tame it, so he brought out his whip and worked it until it was too tired to put up much of a fuss as he approached.

Kiyelt walked up to the cat and lifted his head to look into its bright purple eyes, it was beautiful and just as all the other Perzi he had met were, it was full of fire that was apparently untameable. But if he ever wanted one of these as a pet, he would have to keep trying. He stroked a hand along the tan skin and over the lavender crystals. “I’m sorry for taking your meal, but I know some parents who worked really hard on making that egg. Waiting a long time for it to hatch, and by twist of fate not getting the chance to raise it.” He realized he apologized a lot to the creatures he battled. Perhaps it was out of guilt for disturbing their lives, but he thought they also deserved respect. He didn’t want to hurt them but sometimes in order to do his job accidents happened to both himself and them. Not that his bandages had gone well last time but he hoped the apologies at least got through. He wondered if their skulls were crystal too, that would explain the perzi stubbornness and as per the breed stereotype the Perzi hissed at him and ran off. He had failed again. How was he ever going to work his way up to the Janarim or the running birds he had seen on messages?
