Helicon had a particularly shameful way of coming to terms with his surroundings. The last thing he remembered was the general ordering her youma to restrain and take him, and he had been drained substantially. Before that he had suffered no attacks, no major battles, and no real sense of danger until the lieutenant had taken his civilian friend as a hostage.

Now, as feelings of cold crept into his waking senses, he writhed a bit against the floor, making a small whine as he tried to will himself back to dozing sleep.

I'm not ready to get up yet, mom.

With awareness came the realization it was cold, and that he had not been sleeping in his bed somewhere safe. On the fringes of this knowledge he did his best to push it back before full comprehension could shatter his small illusions.

Eventually he couldn't keep such things stayed for long, though, and fully opened his eyes to take notice of the fact his cheek was pressed to a cold surface, and his hands were bound uncomfortably behind his back and to some sort of tracking in the floor, bolting him down so that his shoulders felt as if in a perpetually awkward angle born of his wrists forced to rest below his hips.

Instead of choosing to sit upright, he stayed laying on his side, wriggling a bit harder now. As images started to coalesce in his brain and make a bit more sense about the chain of events that led to his capture, he concluded the best solution was to yell.

A long, sustained, obnoxious note at the top of his lungs. If anyone was nearby, fellow captive or captor, at least he'd know his situation soon enough.

The guard set to the off Knight of Mercury came as they'd been bidden to alert General Schörl that her next object was ready. She finished petting Barbary's head and donned him to enter the space in silence compared the the youth. She stayed to his back, in the blind dark, and perched on the track next to his hands.

Cassidy Bresner. Captain Zippeite, wields a Middle staff and shows in black and yellow. Should be 18 years old. Missing for some months now from his daily journals and reports as part of the Intel branch, Hillworth. Stutters and speech therapy.

She waited there for his breath to give way in his yelling. Slowly, carefully, she petted her hand over the knuckles to clasp the chilled fist.

"We all get a little lost ...in here. "

"What's your name?"

"Yeah!" Helicon's voice broke into a hoarse squawk and she squirmed a little harder at the sensation of touch breaking through the numbness in his hands. He hadn't heard her come in, but then, he had also been focusing on his tantrum to see if anyone could hear him.

"My name is Helicon, I am a Mercury knight!" He introduced, sounding almost happy to hear another human being. I wasn't supposed to go outside, but I went to this ball thing and I think I got captured by the bad people."

He spoke easily with a chipper note in his hoarseness from the yelling. Guileless and willing to accept the fact she wasn't yelling at him was a good sign, he offered no resistance. She didn't sound mad at him, she was talking about being lost.

"Who are you?" He asked dumbly, woozy and tired and too unawares to tune into his senses to realize the danger he was trying to roll his head around to see with all the grace and mannerisms of a lazy puppy.

"You can call me Gen. You aren't lying to me, are you? Are you really Helicon? "

"'Casssssss' they whisper. " Schörl drew the phoneme out to fill the dark. " 'He left his friend alone and behind. Traitor Cassidy abandoned Johnny. Cassidy who was Zippetite. Captain. "

"Do you remember Johnny? Do you remember him as Bazzite, Captain? Why did you leave?"

"Okay, Jen!"

He was still kind of awkwardly tumbling from where he was bound, not pushing his limits of range, but coming right up to him. He stopped when he heard his old civilian name, though, and froze in his current, awkward position on the floor.

"How do you know that?"

Cas was a lost name. He couldn't use it anymore, he had been scolded for attempting to revert back to it. Logical fear managed to surface, but it was drowned out by excitement he thought was not quite right. Identity was a hard thing to let go of, he had an attachment to that name. And this person knew it.

He didn't withdraw, if anything, the way his body language shifted he had opened up to her. Lydia had kept things from him, and although he happily ignored it in order to coexist with her and keep things pleasant, he still knew it.

Johnny, on the other hand, put a quick damper on it, just a tad.

Johnny died in a terrorist attack. He had told Lydia that lie shortly after his youmafication. It was an easy excuse to be allowed to vent his grief in civilian confines.

Now that lie had circled back to him as truth from someone who genuinely believed it.

"Johnny's dead," He told her. Maybe she didn't know. "Bad terrorists got him. I'm sorry." The names Bazzite and Zippeite generated a hard frown, but he didn't understand. Were those supposed to be him and Johnny? He opened his mouth to ask, and promptly closed it again. He didn't want Jen to think he was stupid, especially when she was the first person to actually talk to him since hair-dye-Fabio-jerk threw his friend out the window.

"I'm not a bad one, though," He added quickly after replaying what he had to say on Johnny in his head over and over, realizing something was wrong.

"Is that why I'm tied up?"

"I have met Johnny. He's not dead. He's sad, terrible sad and lonely- Cass left him you see. Left him alone in the dark, and he was lost. Alone, without his friend, he tried to keep going as Bazzite. Cass was Zippetite. So you are Cas? "

" Helicon is a name that abandoned his friend to the dark. That is why you are here. Cas is a terrible friend. He leaves people in the dark- he hurts them. "

"But I am from the dark, you see. I don't like to think people can't change. I don't like to think people can really forget their friends. If you're Cas, you could help. " Here is a strange and different session. But I can adjust. Are you really so much a lamb, even come to full knighthood? Or are you playing game as well?

"What day did Cas stop writing? He was so careful himself, with his journals. Do you remember that?"

"That's not true!" Helicon made no effort to hide how easily his defenses had gone up. He struggled again, put off and unsettled even in his bubble of naivete. Johnny had no reason to go into the darkness. Not based on what he remembered of him.

And no one had any reason to know about his obsessive need to journal, either. It had been a habit even before corruption, and it had been a talent that served him well in the Intel branch. He had a lost a lot, not being able to go home for some reason and get what he had written, but any time he expressed a want to Lydia would continue to discourage going out for fear of 'bad people' she never really explained.

The sudden knowledge quieted him down.

"I didn't... I didn't hurt anyone. Who are you, again?"

"Isn't it? Have you spoken with him? Has anyone in so very long. Where has Cas been for days? Weeks? Months? Not very friendly. But its been longer than that since Cas saw Johnny. Much, much longer. I know. I've spoken with Johnny in the dark. "

"Did you even try? Did you try to find your friend? "

"I told you, Cas is a terrible friend. Now you're in the dark and you're just lying. Lying through your teeth and lying on your back."

"You can call me Gen. Gen, Helicon. That must be a better name for you. You took a new name so that none of your friends could find you. Because you abandoned them. Who are your new friends ? They must be so special that you left everyone else like litter on the dark streets. "

"Liar," Helicon childishly snapped, obviously bristling and going hard on the defensive. Still, when she asked him where he'd been, he stammered over an answer, compelled still by some urge to give a 'right one' that would satisfy. It was at odds with everything Lydia had told him.

"I can't tell you, it's a secret."

'Lydia would be mad' was a well enough mental mantra to keep from endangering their entire lifestyle, at least.

"Johnny's gone. You can't talk to dead people," He said, sounding dejected and unsure of himself even as he said it. Call me Gen wasn't met with the previous 'nice to meet you' either, and instead the teenager emitted a small, frustrated noise. "But who are you?"

There seemed to be a petulant, little pause in his voice. But he couldn't help himself. "She said I wasn't allowed to go see my old friends because of bad people. I wanted to, but I wasn't allowed. It's not my fault. I only know Camelot and Hvergelmir and Ly--" He stopped short and pressed his mouth shut, suddenly feeling a sinking feeling at the pit of his stomach.

"Can't talk to dead people, says he with a heart of Mercury. Can't, in a world of 'impossibles' where little men and little women make fire from their hands, call knives out of nothing, and scream in storms of feathers. Is there anything magic cannot do? "

"But did you see him die? How did he die? Can you remember that, Cas? If you can't then how is it true? Did someone tell you that to keep you from looking for him? To keep you from knowing how terrible you really are and how you hurt him? Someone ...that last name? Not allowed?"

Camelot and Hvergelmir. Those names come up frequently. And how much coincidence can there be, between both of the traitors before it starts to become pattern. Before it means something. And who is this last secret? We can try to work back around to that on a session. That one will be a key to unlocking doors. "I've heard those names whispered in the dark. I've heard they are near. I could look for them. Tell me about them, Hvergelmir and Camelot. You met them, you spoke to them. I want to meet them and speak to them. I could take your words to them. "

"No," He said after some thought. "Not allowed."

Lydia was not involved in this weird rivalry between faction groups, as far as he knew, except providing refuge when he was lost and confused and told he couldn't go home.

"I don't know Hvergelmir or Camelot that well," He said though, with complete honesty. He had lost his powered memories in their entirety, and these people who had been standing over him the night he lost his memory were hardly people in his mind. His friendship with Hvergelmir was long wiped from his mind. "Camelot's got old medieval type armor stuff and Hvergelmir wears a dress. She's nice. I think. Camelot was tired. S'all I remember."

He was having trouble parsing out the weird tension and emotion from where his memory of recent times started, and his focus was clearly on that as he tried to figure out words that would make Schorl happy without guile.

His confusion was still plastered all over his face, but he didn't argue her points about Johnny. Not that he answered the questions about him, either.

Camelot was tired? That is strange detail out of context. It ties into ...when was he tired. You were meeting him. But when. "That is not so much to go on, Helicon. "

Schörl shifted down to lay on stomach in the dark, near to the loppy-knight's restrained body, with arms resting on elbows and great lion youma covering her like the safari rug he was. "Knights are so strong and brave at all times, as surely you must be. So why was Camelot tired when you saw him?"

"Did you see them together at the same time, Hvergelmir and Camelot?" With Barbary's paw still enveloping her hand, she picked up the youma's silently lashing, tassel-tipped massive tail of blackgreen to use like a paintbrush. Then playfully, reaching out of the dark, used tail-c**-brush it to gently tease the young knight's nose.

"What were you three knights up to when you saw them, dress and armor all?"
