Dream had been busy for a few days, with something he swore up and down he didn't need Quinn around for to keep him safe while doing. While he was reluctant to let his boyfriend slash boss go off on his own (or rather off with his assistant), Quinn also knew when Dream was needing a break and so had agreed to let the Ninetails do whatever it was, he was wanting to do without him around. From the utter lack of enthusiasm in his voice as it was brought up, Quinn was suspecting it had to be something involving copious amounts of discussion. So he used the time he found himself with to do a little bit of shopping. It was a very special shopping trip and he'd prepared carefully for. He got out of his truck outside of the store he'd planned to visit that day and brushed a hand over his pants. He was slightly nervous mostly in that he wouldn't find anything fitting for Dream. Once inside he felt almost overwhelmed looking at the choices and briefly wished the other man were with him, though it'd ruin the surprise he was working on. Talking to the man inside, Quinn explained what he was looking for. Something classy, stylish, amazing just like his Dream. He'd guessed at a ring size after having Dream try on one of his own rings, and seeing the size difference and was pleased to see he'd made a good guess once he'd had his own ring sized and he showed the gap he clearly remembered there being. He was assured if needed, it could be adjusted at no fee and that eased his fears as well. Finally, after what felt like hours (and to his horror he realized it had been), he'd left the store with a little box tucked into his inner jacket pocket, though once in the truck he settled it into the small locked compartment he kept a gun in as well. That had been before Christmas. He'd yet to find a good time to bring out his gift. New Years had been busy too. Still....the little box was weighing heavily on his mind, and he was growing anxious to give it to the other. Maybe today once Dream was done with his shoots. So long as he'd had a good day....

Dream was having a horrendous day.
First thing that morning he had received a phone call from his manager, telling him the contract he'd been busting his a** to nab had been taken by someone else. Those spreads would have set him up for life! And for what? A little shrimp of a man who apparently was a third cousin to the photographer? Seriously?!
So not only was he out of work once these shoots were over, which would be in a few short weeks, but he had to start schmoozing; again.
That wasn't what put him over the edge. When he had arrived to work that morning he found out his partner was his same b***h of an ex-roommate that had tried to break off his relationship with Quinn. "It's a contract, so you can't avoid me now." He had kept quiet, internally cursing her with the fury of a Sorcerer, and every time he had to touch her he would clench his teeth so hard his jaw ached.
Then came the fun part.
Out of nowhere, the photographer decided they needed water! They told him to brace himself, and before he could question why a spray of water came down on him from before. Within a second the room was filled with enough steam to cook vegetables. His body was vibrating fire, and unfortunately, the b***h had run off. Dream had lashed out with a lot of screaming and words he was not proud of before leaving the set. His tails were frizzed, thanks to the quick drying, and his hair was still damp despite it all.
He just left. Dream grabbed his things, sent a quick text to his manager and PA, then left.
When he got outside of the building he sent a quick text to Quinn.
"Get me. NOW"
Looking down at himself he had to groan. His pants, while still mostly in tact, had holes and were burned. He had no shoes, so he bounced around on the cold concrete, and he had no shirt, just his coat, but the fire still bouncing off him in spurts was enough to keep his core warmed.

The text came through while Quinn had been finishing up getting a license updated he needed for carrying concealed, something he'd known was coming up and had informed Dream of, with a promise of showing up as soon as he was done and being an imposing presence as he was supposed to. It was a good thing to keep his licenses up to date with this new body guard gig, he didn't want to have to rethink how he did things. That text though it made him frown and he snatched the paper off the counter after throwing down the money and dashing outside, hustling faster than most would expect the big guy to be able to. As he slid in he was already thumbing back a reply. On my wayHe may have broken a couple of traffic laws that no cops were around to see thankfully as he sped to where he knew the other was. He couldn't imagine what was going on and he was already mapping out a plan of attack. He had a shoulder holster on so he he wasn't unarmed, and he had the gun in his truck. He'd go in guns blazing if that's what was needed! So to see Dream standing there sending up little smoke signals was sobering and caused him to pull up along side the other, and lean over to open the door. "Get in babe. What's going on?" he would have normally gotten out and opened the door but he wasn't sure what he was getting into, and if a fast get away was needed. Especially at the others current look.

Lirilei Quinn, Dream might steal your gun honey. Bringing them might not have been a good idea lol. He really didn't expect Quinn to come as fast as he did. Dream knew Quinn had things going on today, otherwise he would have just snatched his boyfriend on the way out the door. Still, he wasn't terribly surprised by the quick response. He didn't show it, but he was a little relieved. At least something was going right today.
Dream picked up what was left of his dignity after standing outside in the public, smoking and puffing, and got in the truck. He didn't bother organizing his tails in proper seating positions as per usual; just moved them around so they wouldn't get caught in the door, nor would he sit on them.
"I may have committed arson and we need to get out of here." He gave Quinn a look that said he was still thinking of going back for the bodies, but he sat back in the seat with a huff. "Just..drive. Somewhere, anywhere, I'm sure they're fine. They'll call me if there's damages. Like I even---urgh." Dream held his hands out in front of him, curling them in to clawed torches with flames shooting from his palms.

Painted Moose *snickers* Like Quinn would let Dream go on a murderous rampage? He watched as Dream more or less hefted himself into the truck and took in his disheveled appearance a moment,, the holey pants, the bare feet the frizzed out tails and wondered just what had happened in there. Quinn didn't ask just yet though. No, he was waiting till the other was settled in the truck and listened to Dream explain he may have committed arson, causing him to raise a brow curiously. "Remind me my license renewals need to wait till you're not working." the words were a bit dry, but there was an amused curl to his lips. "Alright, one drive to anywhere." he'd just started to drive in fact when Dream held his hands out suddenly and he saw the flames leaping from his palms. "Holy s**t, Dream!" Quinn's own hand came up and a controlled jet of water was aimed not at his boyfriend but at the truck to keep it from catching fire. "Lets get you somewhere you can blow off some steam and not set anything on fire hm?" he was worried honestly, and he kicked himself for not being there.

Wait, had Quinn not got his renewed licences? He was about to comment on it when a spray of water caused him to jump back against the door. "Oh come on Quinn, like I would have burned your truck! I picked the damn thing out, I'm not going to ruin it."
He made sure to stay away from where the water was, but subtly held his hand up to use the heat from his hands to dry the liquid. "Do you still have those boots I left in here?" Every time they passed a restaurant Dream ticked off possible food items he would eat in revenge. Greasy burgers? Check! Chocolate? Double check! All the s**t he was told not to..why not? It wasn't like they listened to what he wanted anyway, so it wouldn't make a difference.

"I'd hope not, but I'm more concerned for your well being if the truck caught fire, than the trucks. Trucks can be replaced, you however cannot." if that wasn't sweet in its own way then nothing would be. "Yup, they're probably behind your seat. Along with a change of clothes. Might be a bit wrinkled sitting in that duffel bag, but you have clothes at any rate." he listened to the other ticking off the various places but he didn't stop at any of them. At all. Nope. He was still driving past all of them. "Also in that bag is some of the snacks you usually eat. And a bottle of water. Why don't you start with that, while you tell me what exactly happened back there anyhow alright? I need to know if I need to break anyone's heads."

If that didn't bring a smile to Dream's face nothing would. It was small and tight, but genuine. He reached out to put his hand on Quinn's leg. "I'll be fine; you know me, fiery personality."
He twisted in his seat to reached behind the seats, careful to brush down as many of his tails as he could and pin them to the chair with his knee. Dream pulled the whole duffel back up, and sat it in the floorboard. "You'll make a great mom some day, Quinn. Seriously, this is like a diaper bag." What that said about him he wasn't sure, but Dream wasn't saying s**t. He shrugged out of his coat, tossed it over his shoulder and slipped the wrinkled V-neck over his toned shoulders. In order to get into his pants he had to unbuckled and strip, but really, when did he have a problem with that?
Reaching for a protein bar, he started munching through the process of shimming into pants, and boots while staying in his space. He didn't bother putting his coat back on; just buckled back in, and sat back to snack.
"Whaf appen bau vere-" Dream chewed down a bite. "-was bullshit." He normally didn't curse; it was vile and base. As a member of an elite Ninetales breeding line he knew it was beneath him, but s**t! "I didn't get the Johto shoot, I had to take photos with Miranda, AND[/b] they tossed water on me."
Out of all that he was most indignant about the water. How could they not have read it in his file? His contracts? He had nine tails; didn't that tip them off?!

Quinn smiled at the hand on his leg and reached down to squeeze it lightly before he was settling his hand back on the wheel. "Doesn't mean I worry any less about you when you're angry thanks to others." well it was true! There though, Quinn was laughing a deep rumbling sound, that was pretty pleased sounding all things considered. "I had a great role model. Being a parent is definitely something I want some day." with the way he spoke of his parents, it had to be no surprise he wanted to have a kid or two be a family, that sort of thing. With the other dressing and undressing next to him he had to struggle to keep his eyes on the road though he did quickly take a few looks at the other, admiring what he saw. As he drove to the outskirts of town and continued on, aiming for somewhere quiet and remote. There was a lake not too far from town that he was headed. Sure it was water, but so long as Dream wasn't in it, he didn't see an issue. "Miranda? Miranda was there?" his tone changed slightly grew harder as his fingers tightened on the wheel. Imagining it was Miranda's neck. He didn't like that woman one bit. "You were really counting on that Johto shoot too. But I'm sure something better will come along. You're too good for them to not use for something big! As for the water...they're stupid, what can I say? Not everyone can read even when they should. Do I need to break someone's head? There's a brush in the bag. Once we stop, I'll help you brush your tails so they're not all frizzy."

"...Really?" That was something they would need to talk about one day, if they stayed together for a while. "I never really pictured myself as a parent. I always just thought Wendy would find a nice Ninetales girl and....well, things changed when I changed." Dream had never actually banked on falling in love, let alone with a guy, so who knew? "I would feel bad for the kid who got me as a dad."
The further they drove the more curious Dream became. He had started in on a granola bar, and a bottle of water, but his eyes were on the passing scenary. The kitsune turned in his seat to get a better look at his boyfriend. He knew how touchy the Miranda subject was. "If I could have burned her and not gone to jail, I would have." Maybe just her hair next time...it was a hot mess of extensions anyway. "Thanks, babe. I'll just have to find something else or I'll be out of work in three weeks. A break doesn't sound bad, but it makes me anxious."
Dream wasn't the type to sit on his a**. Even if he had a vacation he wouldn't know what to do with it. He had a couch, but he'd never even sat on it.
"Sure thing, Mr. Mom. You really are too good to me." To save time, Dream reached for the brush and started to work on the frizzy fur. Of course that didn't save him from his growing nerves. When he was sure that Quinn was too busy watching the road, he took a ring out of a little pouch he had sewn to the right hip of his underwear. He could have hidden it further South, but that would ruin what semblance of moment he was trying to create.
As he brushed the fur, he slipped a ribbon under the thick fur of a second tail, looped it through the ring and tied it off. So long as he didn't jump around Quinn shouldn't noticed until he started brushing them.

"Mmmhmm. My parents did a good job raising me and all, and honestly I adore kids. I should take you out to meet them sometime. My dads I mean. I'm due a visit anyhow, been awhile." it'd been some time and he was sure his dads would love the guy that he was in love with honestly. He wanted to show them he'd found someone to care about, like they did one another. "Funny, never thought about any of that while I was living with my dads. Went on a few dates and stuff in the past but that was all work related to get my collars. It wasn't till meeting you, that I really learned what it was to be interested in someone else, to love someone else and all. That's when the idea of having a family really became more than a passing thought even." "Mmm. Better safe than sorry as far as she's concerned. She's just lucky I haven't clipped her gently with the side of my truck." he was mostly teasing of course. Mostly. He didn't like the woman but didn't truly wish her any hard. Mostly. "Well...I did just mention taking you to meet my parents. We could use your time off to do that? I could even take a camera with me...see what sort of shots we can get for you to show off?" it was something of an idea anyhow, though how good of one he wasn't sure. "Though I doubt I'm as good as a pro. Still, vacation photos?" There was a snicker as he made a turn after a bit, a sign for the lake looking up on them. "You get what you deserve, just so you know." he could hear the brush running through the tails as he took the turn off and drove down to the parking area where he found them a spot, well after Dream's sneaky little pouch hiding, and turned the truck off. "Now then, I know it's cramped in here but why don't you turn a bit and I'll work on your tails, then we can go out for a bit of a walk along the lake. Yes water, but you won't be in it." he gave a soft snicker as he said that, unbuckling himself as he spoke.

"I think I would like that. Meeting anyone who could raise you to be such an absolute treasure would be truly amazing." He was laying it on a little thick, but Dream couldn't say he didn't mean it. "Although I have to say, it makes me a little worried. You hear all those things about 'meeting the parents', and I wonder if they'll take to me or not."
Dream could be a little flippant after all. Self absorbed, flamboyant, flippant, rude, and snarky. He didn't feel bad over it..most of the time, but he wanted to look good for his dads. The way Quinn talked about them showed how much he loved them, and Dream wanted as good of a relationship as he could with them.
Wait, so he hadn't started thinking about a family until he met him? That was...wow.
"We should do that. I'll let my manager know that I'm going to be doing hard core searching, and we can go to see them. And honestly...your pictures would be worth so much more to me than the ones the professionals take. Something we could frame and hang up back home." Wendy did that kind of thing all the time. She was constantly taking the stupidest of pictures, but in the end, they were the most endearing of all.
"Pfft." Dream just rolled his eyes and looked up to see the lake sign pass them by. "You're not going to dump me in, are you?" Of course he was teasing; Dream knew better. It brought a smile to his face regardless. Water was beautiful to look at when he wasn't in it.
He had to hide his nerves as he turned around. For the first time in a long time he was jittery, but he tried to play it off as not finding enough comfortable room in the truck. Dream passed the brush back to Quinn, faking leaning against the door, when he was not-so secretly watching Quinn through the reflection, his stomach as twisted a Tangela.

"I wouldn't worry about meeting them. My father is a big guy being a Tropius but he's harmless, and my dad well he's pretty quiet. I think that stems from when he lost most of an arm though. Still, you make me happy, and I love you, and all they've ever wanted was for me to be happy and find someone to love. So I know they'll be happy to meet you." He smiled as he listened, a nod given as he took the brush and shifted around as well carefully so he could work on those tails. "I'll make sure I have both digital and an older film camera in case the battery dies. Then we'll have plenty of photos. And we'll definitely see about framing some up at home." it made him smile to think about doing that. It'd definitely add something to their home! "If either of us is going into the water it'd be me, to give you a ride around the lake. But seeing as it's a bit cold for that I think we'll skip the dip in the lake." He set the brush to the tails and began to work...though as luck would have it he didn't start from the side with the little pouch tied to a tail, but the exact opposite one, working quickly, but carefully until he finally reached the other side, frowning as the brush caught on...well he didn't know what. "What....there's a knot or something in your tail..." the brush was set down and he began to brush his hands over the tails to find where the brush had caught. "Careful, lets see if I can untangle the fur without tugging anything..." his hands were careful as he did work, brows furrowing some as he realized something was tied around the others tail. It took a few moments to figure out just what was going on, fingers moving over the ribbon and ring both, before he was figuring out how to undo it all without hurting Dream, and with his fingers curled around it he pulled the ring and ribbon from the others fur. "Looks like something got tangled around your tail back at the shoot." he opened his hand to look down at the ring sitting there, a smile on his face. "That's a nice ring. We'll stop and drop it there on the way back. Or rather I'll take it in for you so you can stay in the truck away from them. Probably Miranda trying to get you into trouble for theft or something."

Dream had to hold down his impatience and a loud groan when Quinn started working on the exact opposite side that he should have been! Should he have made some kind of hint? That would have been too obvious, though, right?
"A knot...? What is it?" He tried to be as convincing as he could be, but his eyes were glued to Quinn's reflection. His heart beat like a madman in his chest. Any minute...any minute...
At first there was no reaction, and then Dream just let his head flop onto the glass. Had he missed a step, or did Quinn just not suspect anything? Then he whipped around and opened his mouth, "No we will not bring it back there! Miranda didn't even touch it; I did. I picked it out. For you." He reached for the ring, took Quinn's hand and slipped it on, silently praying it would fit right. "If you don't want it, that's fine, but its yours..."

Painted Moose He's so deeense *cackle* poor Dream Quinn was oblivious to Dream's tension as he was focused on getting that "knot" free, and then was trying to work out how a ring got tied into Dream's tails. It was that reaction that made Quinn blink a moment at Dream, watching the ring slide onto his finger and marveled at it a moment. "For me? You did?" how utterly surprised he sounded honestly. "This is....actually sort of funny." that was probably not the reaction Dream was wanting to have. "Of course I want it, it's a beautiful ring, and it's from you. Though..." and here he was shifting and unlocking that center compartment, and pulled out that box he had stowed away in there and closed the compartment back before he was holding the black box on the palm of his hand a moment for the other to see. "...I sort of had this for you..." he gave a soft sort of smile and there he went opening the box, listening to the slight click of the tiny hinges. The ring had been chosen with extreme care, and he carefully pulled it from the box as he reached for Dream's hand and slid it onto the left finger. "This isn't quite where I'd planned to do this...I was hoping for closer to the water and all...and after a less stressful day for you. But while the timing may not be perfect, to me you are....will you marry me Dream?"
