Eternal Senshi

PostPosted: Tue Jan 06, 2015 3:15 pm

She spent a lot of time crying.

When she wasn't attempting and failing to sleep, she wept. She cried for Valhalla, chained to the floor in some far off room, being treated to who-knew-what other tortures. She cried for Acrucis, who she knew to be captured as well, who hardly deserved the sort of treatment she was likely receiving. She cried for all the other Senshi or Knigths who may have been captured during the scuffle on New Year's Eve.

And she cried for herself. Locked in a cage without any hope of getting out. Frustrated and fearful. Sick with grief.

But mostly they were tears of anger. She began to imagine how she might revenge herself upon the Negaverse if she ever got out. If she'd not thought herself prone to violence before now, this certainly changed things. The longer she remained her, the more people she added onto her list. Laurelite. Bischofite. Buddingtonite. The two Lieutenants who'd been ordered to beat her and Valhalla. Particularly the one she'd met before, and left in that dark, dank alley.

Next time she wouldn't be so kind as to simply leave him unconscious after a few quick blows.

Ganymede curled in on herself on the floor of the large birdcage they'd been keeping her in since first capturing her, cradling her broken left wrist close to her and wincing from the pain. Most of her other pains had dulled, but this was sharp and new.

It looked set to be a long day but Amethyst had his orders - tend to the incorruptible Eternal Senshi in the large birdcage she was held in, see if he could uncover any reason for her... anomaly using whatever means necessary.

Standing outside of the room that Ganymede was held in, he took a deep breath to psych himself for the task ahead, trying to block out the screams and cries of anguish that came from the other rooms he had passed en route here. This felt entirely wrong. A fun house was supposed to be a place that brought joy to people. Not fear, terror, agony or misery. But he couldn't ignore the orders he was given or turn back now. They were the enemy and they wouldn't hesitate to do likewise to him should he fall likewise into their hands. He would have to find some way to deal with this even if it didn't sit entirely well with him.

Pushing open the door, he entered the room, a grim look on his face as he gave the Spec-Ops officer who was watching over Ganymede an appreciative nod when he moved to open the birdcage to let him in. Setting down the medical kit that he had brought with him, he approached the Eternal Senshi tentatively though he didn't quite lay a hand on her just yet after all that she had presumably been through, his voice soft as it permeated through the almost eerie rare moment of silence.

"... Ganymede I take it?"

Ganymede didn't look up from her position on the floor until she heard the screeching of metal that heralded the opening of her cage.

She looked tired. She felt tired. Ganymede didn't think she'd ever been so tired in her life, and yet no matter how often she closed her eyes, or for how long she attempted to keep them closed, she was never quite able to sleep in this place. Perhaps it was a subconscious defensive measure against the horrors that faced her here. Whatever it was, it sucked her energy dry as well as any draining.

“That depends on who's asking,” she said.

She looked up at the officer that entered, paying no mind to the other agent in the room. Agents came and went; she knew few of their names. Some insisted upon staying in the room with her, as if a cage and a locked door (and occasionally a set of chains) wasn't enough to keep her confined; others simply stood outside the door.

This one was a busybody. Ganymede was growing weary of his scowl.

Her most recent visitor seemed pleasant enough, at least. She eyed the medical kit he brought with him.

“You think playing nice is going to get me to talk?”

Everything from the look in Ganymede's eyes to her body language and speech hinted at the physical, mental and emotional exhaustion that the Transcendent Eternal Senshi was currently experiencing after all the horrors that she had been put through. Amethyst shook his head at her question, trying to remain composed and unfazed although she was spot on on the orders that were supposed to be the intent of his visit. He would have to be careful with this one if he hoped to come away with anything at all.

"I'm simply here to tend to your injuries. No questions. No tricks. The General-Queen does not wish for your death just yet." He held her gaze as he informed her of the purpose for his visit. It wasn't entirely untrue really. He would much rather focus on what he did best right here and now even if it was a defenceless enemy instead of one of their own officers.

If he got anything out of her then great. If not, he had decided that he wasn't going to fret too much about it.

"Will you let me help you?"

At least it would help his conscience somewhat as to what he was doing in this forsaken place.

Ganymede suspected the agent wasn't quite telling the truth. Care didn't often come for free in a place like this. Oh, there were those who were genuinely disturbed by what was happening here. Cyllene in particular, she was sure, carried around a lot of guilt for it. But none of them did anything about it. They were complacent, either because they were afraid or because of Chaos's control over them.

This one she was unsure of. He seemed nice enough. Anyone who didn't come into the room and immediately launch their fists at her was nice enough, but this one brought a medical kit with him, and he seemed intent on seeing to her wounds.

That might be nice. She doubted he could do much, but maybe he could make her a little more comfortable.

“You can help me by letting me out of here,” she said. “Somehow I don't think that's going to happen.”

All the same, her posture eased somewhat in surrender. She didn't give up the fight so much as take advantage of the situation to put herself in a better condition for the next fight. Or so she told herself. Really she was tired and sore and hoped he had some pain meds in that kit of his.

“So this General-Queen...” she began, figuring she may as well attempt to get some information out of him while he was at it. “Who is she? I've been told Laurelite doesn't have anything to do with this.”

Amethyst couldn't and wouldn't wear his emotions on his sleeves even if he wanted to. There was no room in the Negaverse for an officer who was weak and showed the slightest bit of sympathy towards their enemies at what was being inflicted upon them to get them to yield what the General-Queen wanted. The Information branch had ensured that news got around of what exactly Spec-Ops would do to those among their ranks if they so much had reason to suspect and question one's actions and intent.

"I'm afraid that's beyond what I'm permitted to do here. Sorry..." The Captain apologized, an awkward smile on his face at her request though he readily afforded Ganymede the answer that she sought. "The one behind this operation was General-Queen Apatite. She's taken an interest in glowing senshis like you."

Looking over the Transcendent Eternal again, he noticed the way she was cradling her wrist and stretched a gloved hand out towards her. "Your wrist... may I have a look at it?" He paused for a bit before pleading with her again. "Please?"

Apatite.

Ganymede riffled back through her memories trying to figure out if she'd heard the name before, but figured if she had to put so much effort into it she probably hadn't. That made three General sovereigns that she was aware of: Zinkenite, Laurelite, Apatite. But why were the other two not involved? Surely something like this would concern all of them.

She looked up at the officer asking for her wrist. She remained suspicious but chose to trust him enough to present her wrist for examination. It did hurt, after all. Even if he couldn't put it in the cast it might require, at least he might be able to fashion a splint for her.

“So... Apatite...” she began. She brushed aside what tears remained on her face and tried to compose herself. Her brow raised in a curious expression. “What's she like? Why the concern from her? Laurelite's the one who did this to me.”

Of that she was not entirely sure, but as it'd happened when Laurelite stuck her hand into her chance, Ganymede had nothing else on which to place the blame.

Amethyst answered truthfully, hopeful that that would in turn earn him Ganymede's trust enough to allow him to carry out what he had been sent to do. "To be honest, I have no idea. All I have are my orders and a name attached as to who they came from. I've never seen or talked to her before." As far as he was aware, the General-Kings and Queens only interacted with them individually if it was for a few things: a promotion, commendation for performing exceptionally outstanding or, in the majority of cases, disciplinary action.

"What do you mean by General-Queen Laurelite doing this to you though?"

Taking hold of her wrist, he cradled it gently and brought it closer so that he could look it over. There weren't any open wounds but that didn't rule out the presence of a fracture either. With practiced grace, he very carefully felt around the part that was swollen, his eyes trained on her the entire time to see if she so much as flinched or grimaced from any pain that he might be causing her during the course of his examination. "... does it hurt when I press here? Are you still able to move your wrist fully?"

Pausing for a bit, he very gently rested a finger on the swollen portion then started to add a little pressure to the troublesome spot.

Ganymede could not determine whether or not she should be surprised that this officer had not had the misfortune of encountering Apatite himself. On the one hand it seemed only fitting for the General-Kings and Queens to maintain some distance between them and their officers; on the other hand, Ganymede thought it quite disorganized for a group who so valued organization.

She was disappointed that she gained no further information regarding the General-Queen responsible for her captivity, but she controlled the expression on her face enough to where she looked bored instead of anxious.

“Laurelite stuck a hand into my chest and tried to corrupt me. It didn't work,” Ganymede explained. “So this happened.”

She made a motion with her good hand as if she meant to draw attention to the symbol upon her forehead, then held up the same hand so that he might have a better look at her glowing palm. Upon her right palm was the phantom scar from so long ago, shining gold in the dim lighting.

“I don't know what it is, just that I can't be corrupted or have my starseed pulled, apparently. Turns out it's become more trouble that it's worth considering that's the reason I've been brought he— ow!” she yelped and nearly jerked her wrist away.

Ganymede glared at the officer for his prodding but managed to keep her cool as she said, “It was already broken before I was brought here. Here.” She pointed to the bone on the pinky-finger side of her wrist. “It was a small break before. They had me in a brace instead of a cast. It's probably worse now, thanks to you guys. You should tell your comrades to be a bit more careful, Doctor, or we're not going to be able to answer any questions even if we do have the information.”

"Immunity to the influence of Chaos. Interesting. It is little wonder why the General-Queen has taken a keen interest in you especially." Amethyst remarked after taking a close look at first the symbol on Ganymede's forehead then the glowing scar on her palm that the Transcendent Eternal had gestured to for his benefit. If the Senshis had come up with a way to prevent their corruption, it was only a matter of time before one of the General-Kings or Queens would give the order that all Order Senshis were to be killed on sight. He really hoped deep down that things would never come to that.

"Sorry..." At Ganymede's pained cry, the Captain immediately withdrew his finger to avoid antagonising her further. "It's probably not serious enough to warrant surgery. I can fashion a cast to help stabilise it for now but you should get an X-ray as soon as you're able to just to be on the safe side." He advised with a small smile before turning to retrieve what he would need for the task on hand from the medical kit. "It is not within my jurisdiction to instruct those in Spec-Ops on how they should carry out the interrogation. I can only do what I can if I'm required to be present."

Ganymede frowned at the Captain's advice. All the same, she continued to hold her hand out for treatment, waiting as patiently as she could for him to fashion a cast.

“Yeah, sure, I'll make sure I go get X-rays as soon as I get out of this place,” she sneered. “That's assuming I do get out. Something tells me your people aren't going to make that easy, if they even allow it at all. Be honest with me, we're all set to be killed or corrupted, aren't we?”

In her case, with corruption being impossible, they'd have no choice but to kill her.

“Once they're tired of us and realize we don't have the information they want, we'll be utterly useless to them,” Ganymede said.

Setting out a few rolls of bandages, Amethyst turned to the Lieutenant who was supposed to be watching over Ganymede to ask for a basin of warm water to be brought to him. "To be honest, I don't know. What I do know at this point however, are my orders to keep all of you alive." In his mind, it wouldn't make any sense at all for him to treat their enemies' injuries only to have them executed when they're done with them all. But he wasn't one to speculate and give people false hopes. That would be outright cruel.

Measuring out a piece of thermoplastic for the cast that he had in mind, he immersed it in the basin of water, waiting patiently for it to soften as he mulled. "There was someone whom I tended to just before I came to you. A knight by the name of Valhalla."

Ganymede was not pleased by his response. She didn't want to hear “I don't know.” She wanted to hear what she assumed to be the truth. It wouldn't give her any comfort to know that she was right, but at least then she would know she wasn't wrong.

She gave a start at the mention of Valhalla and quickly tried to conceal it by pretending he'd caused pain to her wrist. It was bad enough that they already knew she and Valhalla were close. They'd used it against them already. Ganymede didn't want to give them any more reasons to hurt Val. In the end, however, her concern got the better of her.

“How is he?” she asked.

She'd not seen him since they'd been tortured in front of one another, and Valhalla had not been in good shape then.

Amethyst looked up at Ganymede, a contemplative look crossing his face as he weighed his options then decided that it would be in both their interests to tell the Eternal what he knew about Valhalla. "He is sick from a wound infection. His life is not in any immediate danger however so hopefully the antibiotics I've started him on will help to keep him more comfortable."

Pausing to allow her time to process what was said, he removed his gloves, putting them aside before reaching into the basin to remove the thermoplastic that had softened. He worked quickly and quietly, first moulding the thermoplastic around the slender fairness that was her wrist and then wrapping the bandages around it to immobilise the injury. When he was finally done, he looked at her again. "He asked about you. Wanted me to tend to you first even despite the state that he was in."

Ganymede struggled to keep her emotions back. She was angry that Valhalla had been hurt, furious that he was fighting an infection, and distressed that she could do nothing for him. If she could, she would force her way out of her cell and go to him, but she knew how impossible that would be.

That Amethyst had helped him, given him the antibiotics he needed... she didn't understand it. What was the point in working so hard to keep them alive if they were going to corrupt them or kill them all in the end?

“Thank you...” she said, because even though she did not trust this man, she was grateful that he would help her husband. “Please, tell him not to worry about me. Make sure that he's well. I... I know it's too much to ask to see him, but... please, make sure he gets better.”
